Tasty and pure Punjabi style food

I would probably give a negative if I had to to the easily one of the worst experiences of my life .. I went in there with my wife and a 2 year old daughter for lunch only to be met with such a rude response at the front reception . It wasn’t this bad before as I be eaten here .. the food is decent however the service especially with the guy who has a tattoo on his right hand is close to ridiculously bad.. no etiquette of customer service , he will make the customer feel as though he is doing us a favour by serving us .. absolute disgrace. Avoid this place like the plague . Again this was my experience.. maybe you will like it .

Waiter served starter and main at the same time . Food was cold and not fresh. Tables were dirty, overall bad experience.

Great food their amritsari kulcha is the best one I've had! Paneer dishes are lovely as well. Pure vegetarian which is always a plus for us.

Worst taste , too expensive Waste of money Think thrice before going

Visited yesterday, years after I visited their other branch with work colleagues which closed down. Ambience - not that great compared to others but I usually don't mind it as far as food is to my liking. Food - spicy for us, but kids managed to still eat it. Had better food elsewhere, but can't complain much, worth the price. Service - was quick, but also the reason of the rating. Ordered all food with Masala chai that we asked to bring out before food. Food started coming out, 2/4 first served with no sign of chai. When asked got told its getting prepared and on the way. Few minutes later 3rd dish arrives and still no sign of chai, at which point I asked the young waitress to cancel it. We continued with food, last dish served and we ate all. Worth mentioning that when repeating our order, she even read out that the masala chai was before all the food. Whilst paying I was told 'cash only' which yes was displayed but also whilst entering I saw the card sign saying 'dojo', contactless etc. Same girl insisted on cash and when I mentioned the sign she said she doesn't know about it. I was making my way out to get cash when she asked how much cash I had and see if she could 'adjust' . Miraculously a card machine appears after calculating the difference which I pay and we leave. In summary, no chai on time for this chai lover and little cash/ card trick attempted on customer. Waste of an evening which I insisted on eating out when wife was happy to spend it at home. PS - I got charged for the chai and I politely paid to get out of there as quickly as I could.

Very tiny portion and over priced

If you have some extra money to waste, this is best place to do so. Price of everything is sky high with tasteless food.

Great tasting authentic Punjabi food. The Amritsari Kulcha and Malai Chaap are top-notch. Lassi & Gulab Jamun are great too. The starters I feel are a bit overpriced, but everything else is very reasonable. I wish some of the veg dishes such as Aloo Gobhi and Matar Paneer had less oil.

I don’t want to give this one star if i got any option , receptionist boy is really bad , while we was eating he continue looking us . Rubbish food according to price , very expensive . No good atmosphere for eating food . Receptionist boy iss ttra dekhda c jidda food ni dekhea hunda , jan customer pehli bar dekhe hunde . This is advice , please avoid to look like this . In this type of situation , customer comfortable feel ni krda .

They tried to make it look a dhaba . I would say the place justified the dhaba feel. Water served in steel glasses, cot to seat, etc. even the toilet was no good than a dhaba. Food was okay or good for 1 time. Chile bhature and kulcha were good I didn't like the Soya chilli chaap. To find Parking is difficult

Had a great lunch here, service was upfront in saying what the place was about. This is a no-nonsense place, you have come here to have food - you shall have the best quality food that one can expect from a dhaba style place. Dhaba food is usually not for everyone. Decor is functional and clean, the service is frank and not over promising. To the exceptional part, the food - piping hot and spicy as one can expect from an Indian cuisine for the average Indian palate. We ordered the Amritsari Kulcha, Chole bature and Naan with additional sides of Shahi Paneer and Sarson ka saag. Could not fault anything ordered. Went out a happy customer, happier to say will go again and again.

Food was average, too spicy for my liking but my friends were quite content with it. but the ambiance felt like some shoddy Delhi backyard place. I very nearly turned back when we entered the resturant. The service was OK, staff looked busy and doing their best to attend the customers.

ALERT 🚨 🚨🚨 AVOID VISITING THIS RESTAURANT 🚨🚨🚨 🚨....WORST EVER RESTAURANT...🚨 This is one of the worst restaurants I ever visited in England, food quality was really worse. We ordered Amritsari kulcha and veg Manchurian and panner chilli. In veg Manchurian which costed around 8£ we only got fours piece of veg Manchurian, portion size was really poor compared to prize and ambience. When we asked restaurant staff about portions, he shameless told us this is the only portions size we server. Panner chilli, Kulcha and cholle was also tasteless, no flavour at all in food. Ambience and cleanliness was also really poor and they only take cash.

Being a Amritsari, I would highly recommend to everyone who want to take real taste of Punjabi food like Amritsari kulcha, Nutri kulcha and Dal Makhani and Mithi Lassi and so on and also indo Chinese food like Manchurian, Noodles etc. Just visit Golu Da Dhaba.

This is the only one best food outlet in all over England which we can say that we will come again and again to eat. The best restaurant in Birmingham city especially for punjabies. Moreover, Staff is also well experienced and very polite towards customers. Thank you Golu ka dhabha team. See you soon.

Food is good but they lie about not taking card payments. I asked over the phone and they said cash payments only so i had to go out of my way to get the cash out and when i got there i was short like 1 pound and the guy was like we can take card payments and brings out the card machine underneath the counter

The 1 member of staff that served us was lovely and I can't fault her. All good experiences depend alot on the staff too. The Amritsari Kulcha was lovely when I was eating it, after about an hour I was feeling bit sick. My husband had naan and malai kofta and he also felt bit uneasy after a short time. The chips were £3.50 for cheap thin fries overcooked. Unfortunately this place let me down alot. The toilets were disgusting. I understand times are hard and it's hard for all small businesses at the moment, but paying attention to small details will help. Unfortunately I would not visit this place again.

*DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE* My Partner and I visited this place on 1 Oct evening, 1. Cash-only place - ATM is 1 mile away 2. Food - Chole bhature was very good, but Veg manchuria in the starters list was a wet item so we ordered with butter naan, we got 4 manchuria pieces (dry and stale) in gravy, not nice at all and the naan was like reheating a frozen one 3. Cost - Too high, 7.99 for a 4 piece veg manchuria is seriously insane, we felt bad after seeing the quantity and tasting it, Chole Bhature was 7.99 as well but the taste was very good 4. Both of us got our stomachs upset the same night, and had to endure severe pain, pretty sure the food from this place is the culprit - DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE

Please do not eat NUTRI KULCHA, it basically naan with sabji on top and they pretend its kulcha.. also do not eat fries, i guess those were made 2 days ago and serverd today.

Rubbish food. Person on the till was apologetic for chef’s skills and she was very helpful. No parking. Very disappointed. Too expensive for the level of service and food. A big No to visit here. Atmosphere is very cold.

Very spicy food, expensive for the quality and quantity served. When asked for something less spicy, I was told everything has the same level of spice and prepared in the morning itself. Shame there is no option to order milder food. Ordered lassi but it was so cold, fully blended with ice. Nothing like Punjabi lassi. Just couldn't drink. Disappointed :(

Rated 5 star simply for the authentic taste of Chole bhature, kulche, veg noodles and Tikki chutneys, which is rarely found in Birmingham. Would definitely visit again.

I have been to Golu ka dhabba atleast 5-10 times now. But this was the worst service I have had. We had asked for additional Channa masala since our amrithsari kulcha had less side portion, but was charged the whole price of main portion without any warning. Another thing was cash, before we were allowed to pay in card provided we pay 50p(which is unacceptable in itself) but now there is only cash accepted. It would be fine if the business is located a central location but this is in a very industrialised area where we cannot get cash very easily. Such a huge low blow from the management. We will not be visiting again. Pat yourself in your back.

We came long from new Birmingham street. On google that it closes 10pm. We just arrived at 9:31 they were still inside. But staff denied you give entry they claimed its closed so please update time.

Worst restaurant I've been to in London. Total sham of a place. In a random location middle of an industrial estate. Food is not worth rating. It seems like a small family business. I hope they can improve their food and busienss.

I order food first time and it was worst thing, I paid £17.51 for shahi paneer and tadka dal, when I call them before placing order a girl said the portion will be enough for 2 people but when I received, it was hardly enough for 1 person and its too expensive according to quantity… never going to order again never worst experience

Let me tell you first that it is **CASH ONLY**. The dhaba has been decorated in a traditional Punjabi roadside dhaba way which is lovely. The lovely is freshly prepared, good and tasty. Not too expensive. Right for the price. Ambience is good. Neat and clean. NO PARKING/ROADSIDE PARKING ONLY. I was taken aback then the lady said we don't accept cards, luckily I had enough cash. Only one suggestion, THINK BIG and START ACCEPTING CARDS. You will get more business.

If you want the full desi experience - I mean like being in India with the mismatching decor, random manja, cheesy bollywood tunes... and EXCELLENT desi food, then this place is for you. Food tastes great, would highly recommend the Amritsari Kulcha! Not quite a 5* because tables are sometimes a little sticky, bathroom is also kept to a desi hygiene, will leave that your interpretation. But food here is great!

It's a family orientated place and not like a local pub They offer food and drink at the premises. There offer a very good variety of vegetarian dishes. Definitely recommend this place if you want to eat authentic punjabi kulche and chhole bathure along with lassi. Kulche is a must try, its crispy with nice feeling and loads of butter on it(you can ask for it on the side as well if u dont want on the top) which just makes the kulcha melt in your mouth. Must visit place if you are in the area and craving for authentic food.

If you are looking for an authentic punjabi food comparing to what we generally get everywhere in the UK, this is the place. We have been here couple of times and each time it has exceeded our expectations. The best is the Amritsari Kulcha - Crisp, freshly made, served hot. Second best is Chole bhature. Great place, ambience wise and hospitality wise too.

Manchurian, Gol Gappe, Manchurian & Kulchey 😍😍 - smashed it!

It’s got very bad service. Beforehand they never told us it will be cash only and my bill being over £100 they only then told me it was cash only. There was also a sharp piece of plastic in the food. With 9 people on the table they only gave 7 plates and not much cutlery. Overall do not recommend and has very bad service.

We visited Golu Da Dhaba in April 2022, the Dhaba themed, Punjabi Food Restaurant. The food is good, the teenage staff is courteous and friendly and service is timely, also the rates are very reasonable. We had Amritsari Kulcha, Chole Bharure and Dal Tadka, Rice and Mango Lassi. All items were good. The restaurants doesn’t accept card payment which can be tricky if you are not carrying cash. The ambiance is moderate and locale does not particularly have a high street vibe. Restaurant is at a junction and has option of road side parking. Overall a good experience.

Disgusting food and service. If you cant make something dont put it on menu and make people sick with it. Firstly took ages to bring food and they bought gol gappe, they just dashed them with some of the potato stuffing that they use for the parantha and not even served properly , manchurian were undercooked and raw which made me and my husband throw up afterwards. When informed staff they just nodded and manager disappeared like a rat in her den.

Taste is good and Service quick. Parking nearby off street is free. Punjabi Dhaba style interiors. Good value of money. Need more Tawa Parantha options
