In the last year or so they have upgraded their menus. They have a much better range of set meals which are good value and the staff are friendly too.

First time i tried, and definitely will return excellent food. Keep it up. The staff were very polite and WILL DEFINITELY GO THERE AGAIN DAVE. Moved to another area and still using the glebe ......

Recently switched, really impressed with the food, delivery and service every time!

I just got verbally abused by the Caucasian lady at the front, she needs to go to school, I ordered rice noodle and asked for it to be with NO MEAT (as vegan) I then went and collect and found egg. This is why she needs to go back to school, when I called for a solution she yelled and blamed me for not telling her about my vegan life style - and I reminded her to look on Google to determine if indeed Egg is meat or not. I went back to the place and got my money back. Such a shame I had to go through the humiliation and discrimination. I took picture of the license they operate with and will contact them shortly for my complaint. Needless to say that I will file a police report about her as I already suffer from a severe disability and things like this do impact me heavily. Summary: I got yelled, abuse and discriminated on simply because (Ms Karen ?) didn't pay attention to biology class and doesn't know that egg is meat. Such a shame the boss had to come and speak with me, he seemed like a nice person, his restaurant will do well if he gets rid of that lady.

Had some sweet and sour chicken balls. They were not very nice . Sauce was thin and chicken balls a bit mank

Lovely fish and chips. Just a large cod and small chips was perfect for the wife and l.

Lovely take away food was good, well sized portions and average prices. Nice friendly staff.

Food was nice but the conversation between the counter staff and friends on customer side had a lot to be disired.

I get the same takeaway twice a month which is sweet and sour chicken balls with egg fried rice. recently I’ve noticed the size of the chicken balls are significantly smaller. They used to be pretty big so good value. Now they are smaller I think I will find another Chinese to go to. Disappointed as this is right near where I live

The gates are very small and expensive. Do not cook deliciously I do not recommend this restaurant

Terrible.new owners new menu.completely changed .smaller portions .unlike previous owner and menu.ordered meal for 1 they put rice and chow mein in same small cintainer. Unlike before big portions in each cintanier .a 1/3 of size food really poor .you will see a major difference. Never again.dont go there

Had takeaway today.noticed new owners and new menu.food was terrible worse I had in Stevenage.. was soon nice before..half the size too quantity and tasted horrible.completely different to previous owners

I’ve tried a couple chineses in Stevenage and never felt fulfilled, I was sceptic about ordering from a food place in the chells area but I’m glad I did. This will be our new Chinese place to order from, the meat was lovely, tasted fresh and the rice was proper stir fried, sauces are lovely! Prawn crackers were amazing! Just like they should be. Can’t fault it at all!! So niceeeee

After moving back to Chells got the chance to try what used to be my favourite take away. I'm so glad we got chance to try tonight absolutely loved food. no cards or delivery but with order ready hot freshly cooked in 10 mins .definitely still best Chinese in Stevenage thank you we will be back recommended

Nice tasty food not greasy good value, quick service

it was shocking to see such a low score for this place it is local to me and the food is authentic with nice serving sizes. the people do their jobs well and efficiently. i would definitely recommend and am gladly going there again.

I've used this take away on and off for quite some time. Food has been ok, not the friendliest service and they only deal in cash. A friend recently suggested I visit the Scores on the Doors website to check the hygiene rating which I did........1 Star!!!!! I've stopped using them and instead have been going to one of the top 4 Tripadvisor Chinese take aways instead. I have to say the difference in quality of the food has been really noticable. Goldens Place, hygiene rating of 1, shame on you. Suggest you think carefully if your thinking of visiting them and look at Tripadvisor for some really great alternatives

Pork balls rock hard, egg fried rice without egg, chicken balls fatty, chicken chop suey fatty, sauce about the nicest thing on the menu. Wont be returning.

Very old fashioned shop nowadays cant order online or pay for ya food online but food taste good

We had a really lovely meal: Singapore Chow Mein, chicken Chow Mein (for the children), beef in black bean sauce, salt & pepper prawns and crispy chilli beef. All of the dishes were great, maybe a little salty, but we'll definitely order again. Shame there's no menu/website though, and the lady at the front was a bit grumpy, but we'll forget that as the chefs did a fab job.

Chicken balls dry and chewy pork even worse staff member very rude. I won't be going back.

Didnt really want to give any stars, got the order wrong, very fatty chicken balls, food was nearly cold and an argument on the phone when I rung to say how the food was, argumentative person on the other end. NEVER EVER GOING BACK.

Vegetable curry had lots of different vegetables in and tasted good.

Expensive. Small quantities of food. Rubbish taste. I ended up throwing away some of the food. Never thrown away Chinese takeaway before because of quality. Very disappointing. Won't be going back.

The mixed meat hot is amazing and the Thai mixed meat is beautiful only problem this evening I paid with 2x £20 notes it was £23.60 and received change for £30 cash so fingers crossed this will be remedied tomorrow

Foods Delicious & reasonable price !

Food is always consistent. Best we have found in Stevenage. Not too greasy. Not too salty.
