Had a take away meal ordered and delivered on time. Generous portions for a family meal. Can’t fault the staff very friendly, will definitely use again

We ordered our food tonight which did turn up quite promptly maybe a bit too quickly. When our food arrived the chips were undercooked and hard they only offered to replaced the chips at the door and the rest of our food went stone cold. Safe to say won't be ordering from here again.

This is a great fish and chips shop, the service is very friendly and the staff very helpful. The food is fresh and cooked perfectly. I've had a lot of fish and chips in my time and can day without a doubt that "Golden Plaice" is one of the best.

Friendly service and always good quality food have eaten from here for years and am never disappointed.

Cod was lovely would recommend this haven't tried everything on the menu but willing to give a shot nice staff

I had cod and chips it was 1 of the best. I am here on holiday and will be returning for another meal before going home it was that good highly recommend this place

Absolutely amazing fish and chips best I have had for a long time. Me and my husband had 2 large cod, med chips and a gherkin and it was very reasonably priced. Delivery time was great too I will definitely be ordering from here again.

Absolutely incredible fish n chips Staying with a group of 10 and not a single person had a complaint to make. The fish was juicy and flavourful the batter was Crispy and the chips were perfect. 10/10 would definitely recommend.

Never been to this chippy before but it was one of a few that was open on a Sunday, and the reviews were great, so decided to try it Boy are we glad we did Both had pie and chips, all I can say is Nom Nom Nom 😋😋😋 Suffice to say, this is now our go to chippy, 👍😁

As always fantastic fish and chips, the kids had a battered burger and chicken burger with chips and no complaints at all. First class loved every bite.

Slightly disappointed, the chips were floppy and the chicken was cold in parts, but the sausage was fine

Well worth the walk from the beach. The fish was so fresh and tasty. And served with a smile, very reasonable prices!. Kids want this to be our new fish shop little hard being from South London but assured them it's our local when visiting lovely Clacton on sea

Recommend that you book in advance as this is not a huge restaurant but well worth the wait. Everything cooked to order and they do smaller size portions for lighter eaters. All the usual extras available. Open Mondays which is unusual for most fish and chip shops. They have gluten free days for those that have that requirement. Small car park on the front but plenty of side road parking nearby.

Always had a lovely reasonably priced fish and chips from the Golden Plaice and always get a smile and friendly greeting . As good as any takeaways around .

Wow what a excellent and beautiful lovely chip shop, very freshly cooked while you wait. Very ewsom and respectful staff that treats you and everyone with respect.

A plastic panelled grotty fish & chip shop staffed exclusively by barely literate Chinese staff. There is no option to have food cooked fresh if the shop isn’t busy which is a little worrying when it’s open until very late but empty from 8pm.The waiting area is filthy & with minimal effort you can see much of the cooking area at the rear which also looks filthy. This is really somewhere to avoid, even if you do have a longing for fish & chips. Just try & remember for future reference that the vast majority of Clacton fish & chip shops shut at 8pm on most nights other than Friday & Saturday out of season.
