Ordered a takeout on Saturday night. Beef in black bean. It was just pure fat. No we’re near good enough for the amount of money they charge. I’d think again before ordering from here.

Food was quick coming but was really greasy the gravy was really sweet and weird tasting the chicken was dry. The peas had no flavour

BEST CHIPPY IN DUKI!! Go here all the time for chip muffin with gravy n either a pudding or a sausage 🔥 Misses gets a fish n chips n is always top tier n fresh. Gravy is like no other, you won't find it anywhere else👌🏽

Absolutely awful thought id give it another try never again ribs used to be realy nice and special rice everything seams to have gone down hill

Me and mum got vegetarian chow mein. It was too oily and noodles over cooked but what little veg was in the dish was hard. Not enough veg. Could've done with carrots cailiflower and broccoli but instead got these weird white circles and oblong things that I don't know what they were an were rock hard and couldn't eat them. There were mushrooms, very nice but not enough of them. The taste was OK though. The honey ribs were superb though. Chips were dry. Not the best

New chef so the food has gotten better over time since new owners. They had teething problems like every business trying different chefs.

What's going on with the place trays are getting smaller the gravy like wallpaper paste and I got steak and kidney pie I could not bit in to it . Prices are going up food going down sorry but true.

Local Ex-pats visiting from Australia. Came in tonight for our long awaited treat. Beef fried rice, Puddings, chips & curry sauce. Also shared a scallop while waiting but wish we had ordered 1 each. ( Australians don't know how to make a propper scallop ) Everything was great. Staff very friendly. Might have to come in for the next 3 Fridays before returning.

Had sweet and sour chicken and chicken with chilli garlic and egg fried rice, food was gorgeous. Delivery was quicker than they said and man was very polite. Definitely recommend.

First time we have been back to this Chinese in a few years. The food was Amazing and service and delivery was fantastic. 100% recommend

We went in and ordered a fish, cheese & onion pie chips and when we got home they had given us chips and curry. I phoned straight away and told them they had given me the wrong order but couldn't drive all the way back so would call in tomorrow and sort. The woman was extremely rude, said it was our fault and unless we went back straight away she could not sort for us. She insisted it was our fault ( talk about customer is always right). We spend a lot of money at Golden Phoenix but won’t be going there again. Very very rude and disgusting customer service. All over a fish and a pie!!! I phoned and was very polite but her attitude was extremely rude and insisted she had ‘ lost a fish as could not sell it to anyone else? She ‘made to order.’I am absolutely flabbergasted!!! I really would go somewhere else. They have lost some lovely customers, but obviously the price of a fish and a pie means more to them.

Since Lisa the old owner left it’s gone bad this new owner is living off the good reputation it did have everything about the food is absolutely awful I’ve been going here for years but not ever again wish I knew where Lisa had opened her next shop

Love the food every time that I go there and I order chips,rice and curry, love it.

Special mixed curry last week slimey chicken not cooked peas hard and chips were horrible this chip shop has changed hands and it’s not good. Was ill for 24 hours as I had eaten some until I realised something wasn’t right .

Terrible just avoid Lisa is gone now and it’s terrible this image is what I got a chips pudding and gravy served in it wouldn’t fill a migit AVOID

Have you changed owners? We get our Chinese from here all the time and we got it tonight and it wasn't the same. Everything seemed different and not what we are use to. I give it a 3 becuase we have had so many lovely meals from here in the past but it wasn't the same tonight.

Food was great. The salt and pepper chicken was amazing

My partner decided to get our Friday night tea from here as she has used it in the past and recommended it. I can quite honestly say it is the worst chinese meal I have ever had ,very poor meat content bulked out by some gooey blocks and absoloutley tasteless my partner just wanted chips snd gravy and again very small amount of gravy, too many good chinese takeaways around to waste your money on this poor quality and dismal food won't be returning.

Good place to eat (takeaway only) Chips are good and plentiful Curry Sauce = tasty and a little spicy Gravy = dark rich & Chinese Chow mein = Good but on the dryer side (personal taste) Overall great place and well priced and lovely people. NEVER EVER had bad service here in all the year's I have used them. A++++ 👍

Best chippy near me, don't all turn up at once though I may be hungry. They also deliver if you cannot get to them but they will not spoon feed you and wash up afterwards.

As I said in a previous review this place is hit and miss, last week it was great, tonight the ribs were fatty, greasy and disgusting, the chips were great - you have to take your chances.

Was really good about a year ago then went down hill for a while, but I tried them tonight and had chips and salt and pepper ribs and it was perfect. I just hope that they keep the standards up.

I use this chippy all the time. I live literally round the corner from the golden phoenix. I am disabled the first time I used their delivery I felt embarrassed to be ordering from round the corner, the minute I told them I was disabled she said its no problem. I could literally go out of my back gate to the chippy at the back of me. I just can't tell you how nice the food is from golden phoenix. It is just delicious. I have ordered lots of different food it is always delicious. The delivery is fab too. Love the lady and young boy that deliver. Food is always hot. If they are busy she always says how long I will have to wait for my food. Two Chinese chippy's on my door step. I will always always choose the golden phoenix over good luck chippy.

Best chinese around never disappointed

This chippy is the best around yes the fried rice is dark but that’s because of the soy sauce they use been going for about 3 years never !!! A problem Susan

Ordered today by phone for collection for a family birthday. Burnt dark fried rice that tasted, smelt and looked burnt.Sweet & sour sauce that just tasted of vinegar. Inedible.Salt and pepper chicken that was tiny solid hard batter blobs with no sign of chicken.Really embarrassing when treating family to a birthday takeaway.Will not be returning. Shockingly poor for such a long serving takeaway.

Used to go once a week then a couple of times chicken friend rice was dry took it back all they did was put it back in the woke and coverd in sauce its was discusting

Order from here all the time... It really is the best place to get Chinese from, ordered chicken chow Meon, crispy chilli beef n special fried rice and everything was delicious came delivered piping hot. Won't order from anywhere else as no where compares.

very good food will spice dishes up if you ask, delivery service also available, best to phone up and order if you want Chinese as there can sometimes be a wait if you just call in

The delivery is great the delivery guy and girl are always kind and helpful plus the food is quality and you get your money worth in food dishes

Just want to thank everyone who gave great reviews, obviously never been to a good chippy and just wasted my money. that was possibly the worst chinese I've ever had. only reason you got a star was because of the chips. Think I'll stick to ben ho as everyone should you'll never get a phone call off me again

Love this chippy and always have done ever since I was 14 and bought the best chip muffin with gravy...I'm now 38 and still go in for the best chip muffin with gravy:) Recently decided to try a set-meal for first time ever which was FIT...just popping down tonight for another soon;) x

This is a take away only place. We attended to get food for 2 on a weekday evening. The first thing I noticed was how clean the place is. Really, really clean looking. A 5/5 Food Hygeine sticker in the window appears to have been richly deserved going by the front part of the shop. Onto the food. Not greasy, piping hot, delicious. They genuinely run a really lovely takeaway. The menu is huge and almost everyone will find something there that they can order and enjoy. They don’t have squid dishes on the menu (that’s something I noticed). I’m pleased I found this place on Tripadvisor and didn’t go with my local friends idea (to go to the closest on to where we were staying). Try it. I will return on my next trip. Dunkfiield - you probably don’t realise how lucky you are!

Started ordering from here recently. Great tasty food. We had a slight mix up on one dish that was delivered but one call and they dealt with it straight away. The fussy eater in our household was impressed with service and the dish itself. Well done. Also best nasi goreng in the north. Thank you

Lovely food however wait time is ridiculous! We always collect and ring beforehand so we can avoid waiting in there, however every time I arrive to collect our food, they never have it ready and do it whilst I'm in there! If I wanted them to do that I wouldn't bother ringing and ordering beforehand.

Great menu, fast & friendly service, reasonable price, excellent quality & flavour, even offer quick delivery, only marked down due to poor parking facilities on busy road if collecting your order or just popping in for a bite.

Have been going here for years, always top quality food, that what keeps us going back. Owners are lovely and very hard working.

Real good food. Price wise I would expect more though. I visit China Town in Manchester and I would say this getting on a par but too expensive for a small town.

Good takeaway food. Large selection . Chinese and English food. Salt and pepper chips to die for. Chinese meals are excellent especially the ribs.
