Great meals well worth everypenny

Second time ordering not long after they open at 5pm and same issue Chips over cooked and taste like reheats.Chicken balls full if grease and soggy batter also look and taste like reheats will never order from there again

Very nice the lady in shop food was very tasty will go back didn't wait long they also do noodle boxes from only 7.50 they are very good full to the top enjoyed very much give it a try

Best special fried rice and curry sauce, my husband has had.

I just came back to my hotel after walking back home with my take-away order -- and felt that I just *had to* write a review, right away (which I rarely do, btw... ;-)), since the service was so excellent! ;-) I had ordered online, thinking that rice would be included -- but when I picked up my order, the kind folks at the Golden Phoenix then promptly offered to cook/give me (they had just closed and had already started cleaning up the kitchen, so that was extra kind of them!) a side of rice -- and for free, too! On top of that the food (prawns with bamboo shoots & Chinese mushrooms) was super tasty... In conclusion, I highly recommend Golden Phoenix!

Really decent Chinese, food is always piping hot, friendly service & good value Chicken satay skewers & duck spring rolls are particularly good! Generous portions of everything, highly recommend

Ordered from here for the last few takeaways! Always constant and piping hot when delivered. Even on a busy weekend delivery is very fast and they always chuck in a little freebie! Having tried lots of Chinese takeaways in Cardiff this one is by far my favourite!

Don’t know if there’s new people running this takeaway but the food nowhere near as good as it used to be , tasteless undercooked, most of it ended up in the bin.

The partner and I ordered two meals to ZIP HOTEL, CARDIFF. the guy who answered the phone was very understanding but he eventually understood the order. The delivery guy was very friendly. We are happy customers from Belfast. Many thanks. The food was delicious and tasty.

Trying to find a decent chicken or beef satay and this place just wasn’t it. Ordered one chicken satay, one beef satay, one extra satay sauce, one egg fried rice, one large chips. The main satay dishes were just gloopy and felt a bit cheap. When me and my girlfriend went to pick it up we noticed the 3/5 hygiene rating on the window and kinda shrugged it off. Unfortunately there was a dark hair in the chicken satay. The extra satay sauce was lovely and pretty spot on, I just don’t know why they can’t put it in the main meals instead of that gloopy sauce. Egg fried rice was great and chips were also on point. Not the worst satays I’ve had, I’ve had them bleachy yellow and even pink at some places but unfortunately we won’t be back for these ones either.

Food is always hot fresh and tasty, and if u get delivery their drivers are very friendly. I highly recommend this place!!

Service was great, exceeded my expectation as it was delivered in 20 mins so was mega chuffed. I had salt and pepper ribs to start with and then my all time fav chicken in black bean sauce, I forgot to ask for extra chilli and that was the only thing that I've missed, that extra kick but it's my fault, other than that it was tasty plus egg fried rice also nice. Definitely be back, thank you 😊

We are in Cardiff to check the University and the area. Been walking all day so decided to go back to our hotel and just order Chinese food. We came across this site and has got a brilliant reviews. We were not disappointed. Tasty hot food. Generous serving and great value for money. Delivered in 45 mins as promised. We are soooo happy we will certainly order again if we come here again. Well recommended to all. Thank you Golden Phoenix. PS We always bring our plastic cutleries but you can ask them for one too.

The sweet and sour chicken is oddly shaped. The sweet and sour prawns have too much batter they looked abnormally big so I did not eat them. The prawn chow mein was nice but oily. The pancake rolls were ok. The free vegtarian spring rolls were all pasty and no stuffing I am glad they were free. The next time I am in wales I would try sammys and compare the two. The prices have gone up which is not reflected in the menu but there is a little piece of paper stapled inside stating this. Customer service could be better, I was told 10 mins and told the lady I am outside in my car waiting. And after sometime I went in cause it was past 10mins and the food was sitting on the side. I was literally parked outside the window a little or call or wave wouldnt have hurt.

Bought a Chinese from Golden Phoenix tonight and I honestly have to say it’s the best Chinese I have ever eaten, food was piping hot and delivered promptly on a Saturday night, portions were large and the taste was fantastic!! I’m fussy when it comes to satay sauce as there’s always such a variety of tastes with this dish, but this satay sauce hit the spot like nothing else. Sticky bbq ribs were perfect - meat falling off the bone perfect! And the Singapore chow mein was delicious, nice kick to it with vibrant flavours. I also ordered the house special with satay sauce which had plenty of jumbo king prawns (my favourite 😁). Lately I’ve been so disappointed in the Chineses I have ordered but I have finally found the one I shall order from again! Thanks Golden Phoenix I’m well happy! :)

Can't believe I haven't left a review for this place. Food is excellent, delivery has been very good, my go to Chinese. Never disappointed.

Over charged me on noodles asked for plain noodles as I'm veggie gets half way home looks in bad they was full of prawns chicken ect took back I repeated plain noodles with tiny bit of soy sauce women seems to be blanking me at this point and seems insulted that I am repeating plain and tiny bit of soy sauce comes out and they are plain plain no soy sauce so gave up also so said does that mean some money due back my way she said no same price so costed me 9 pound 80 for plain noodles and one portion of seaweed never will I go again

Very friendly staff, substantial portions and a huge amount of choice make this a great takeaway. Recommended.

Best Chinese in Cardiff. Never had a bad meal!

New year's eve ordered meal 7.45. Phoned at 9pm told me they were cooking it were very busy. Phoned at 10pm told me they were cooking it. Said I would have extras and discount. Arrived at 10.30. No extras £2 off. Nearly 3 hours. Won't be using again.

Twice now iv had food from here the prawn was in some sort of slime substance and now my chicken I don't think they cook fresh very disappointed

Been using The Golden Phoenix since it opened and never had a bad meal. Always quality , tasty food and whether I elect for delivery or pick up it is always ready in good time. Taylor who generally works there is always friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend this takeaway.

Best Chinese I've had in a long time

Have been looking for a good Chinese for a very long long time so i found the Golden Phoenix what superb takeaway excellent food.

Another great meal,tried the new chicken wings brilliant. Really good food, I have been using it since it opened but first time I have posted a review. Shame on me.

Nice tasting food but the only drawback is that it's processed chicken and not natural.Prefer natural chicken and won't be using again until they change.

Great food one of the best if not the best Chinese takeaway. They really need contactless payment and they would be set. They have screens so they are covid ready as best they can!!

Best Chinese in Cardiff food always hot

Looked throughout all of first year for a good Chinese and got a leaflet for this place at the start of second year. The house is in love (used them around 10 times this year!!) and we couldn't consider going anywhere else now! Lovely staff over the phone and the delivery people are always friendly. Best one I've had in cardiff so far, I have tried a good few in the 2 years since I moved here, it's a 20 minute trip each way and I drive past many other chinese takeaways on the way.

Working over the weekend here in Cardiff and just fancied a Chinese, wow so glad I stopped here on the way to the hotel, awesome. Salt n Pepper Squid, the best I've ever had, bravo.

Awesome quality food, I would use them again. They would have been 5 stars if they didn't lose 2 stars. One for charging for a plastic bag, and one for being underhanded, and not telling you about it till after you paid.

They are always very friendly, It once was 'Hotwok' and I'd stopped going there as the food was bland...revolution with the Golden Phoenix. Dubious about those that choose to diss the place, going on their reviews..I'd say it was great that the ignorant or self centred didn't bother coming again? Win, win😎

Lovely food. Great choice and deliveries available yoo. The curry is hotter/spicier than most Chinese curries but tasty. Read the paper or watch TV while waiting if you chose to collect it yourself.

We prefer the food since it changed from Hot Wok to Golden Phoenix, and the staff are always very friendly. Won't go anywhere else now. (Although, admittedly, we've never used the phone service, always go in in person) *EDIT* I just called an order in to see what the fuss was about, but the phone was answered by a really friendly guy just as when we go in to order. He even called me back just now to tell me the order was ready for collection! Still 5/5 :)

Not as good as it use to be. Was so much better when it was Hot Wok. Use to love getting take out from here but the new food ain't nice at all. Doesn't taste the same at all. Avoid!!

I really don't know what the meat was but there was no way it was chicken, fatty and gristle it felt awful. Wasted my money and it was not cheap, I did get opinion from the family and they were horrified and asked what it was. Happy to bring it back in the morning to show what I mean.

New owner and the food was good had two All in One Tray Dishes with the Mrs. Tasted very good thanks to Taylor and his team.

Totally agree with the other review below, really strangely rude. I phoned to place the order and I just wanted to know how long to leave it before collecting my food to save waiting when I got there and she got well funny with me. I told her she had misunderstood me and she denied it and started to tell me what she thought I actually said and then I corrected her politely because I did not want the situation to get worse but she got worse and eventually hung up on me. Her attitude stunk. I hope someone punches her in the face quite frankly. Only been there twice and NEVER going there EVER again. If i could have gave it minus 5 stars I would. I gave it 1 star because google forced me to give it something before allowing me to post review.
