Golden Palace Takeaway in Milton Keynes

I recently ordered takeaway from this place, and it was by far the worst meal I’ve ever had. Somehow, the food managed to be both greasy and dry at the same time. It tasted like it had been cooked in old, stale oil, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste that lingered long after the meal. The texture was awful, and it was clear no care had been put into preparing it. I had high hopes, but this was a huge letdown. Never again.

Had a takeaway from here and it tasted like everything had been cooked in a burnt wok. Will not be going back here - delivery driver was nice though.

Me and my partner ordered from here due to our usual Chinese being closed today. When we got the food, it seemed okay. Didn’t taste the best we’ve had but not the worst. We still ate some. But an hour or so after, we both experienced stomach aches, sickness and diarrhoea. We won’t be ordering from here again. We’ve ordered once before and I ended up having a stomach ache but I had just been out on new medication (I don’t take it anymore) so wasn’t sure if it was the food or medication. Clearly now it’s the food. I’m a meat eater and my partner is vegetarian, the fact we both are experiencing food poisoning symptoms clearly means it’s the food. Wouldn’t recommend ordering from here! (We ordered through Uber Eats)

Chicken chow mein was amazing so was the king prawn one only problem prawn slightly chewy

Second time of ordering and unfortunately again waited over an hour and a half. Called after forty five minutes and told the order had only just just come through and they would cook the meal now. Issues with their website. Happy to take the money but doesn't deliver even close to on time. Will not be using again.

Prices are wrong. Set meal price B on web site main page £9.40 They will charge you £12.20 I used to use this place regularly. They claim web page is 7 years old IT IS NOT!! It is not the customers fault, if you fail to keep your advertised prices updated. You bear the responsibility not the customer. Check out the online advertised prices before purchase.

Ordered yesterday friday a Vegetable noodles with no onion. As an allergy. You go and put Spring onion in it, loads of Spring onion. No vegetables at are you taking the p***

Unbelievably the worst Chinese food I ever had. What a waste of my money. House special Chow Mein looked like it had been in the freezer for ages then got heated up several times, couldn’t even eat more than a couple of mouthfuls, over cooked noodles. Meat was like dried bread crumbled and tasteless. Chicken balls and sweet n sour sauce just 1 bite was more than enough. I don’t understand why you’re so comfortable serving anyone such food

Regular customers, however they couldn't find our order- twice. First time (we waited over an hour), no show. We sorted a sandwich or two. Second time, we decided to try again- nothing. Chased the order. They have no idea. OK. We're done . Doing for ourselves again. Will not be ordering again. If you want a takeaway- these are NOT the people.

We decided to order a Takeaway for Dinner, I had Beef chow mein The noodle were greasey and the beef was cremated and we had chicken chow mein another Dinner that was full of grease. Certainly would not recommend this Chinese takeaway unless you want a meal full of grease and cremated meat.

I first found this restaurant during Covid and never had bad food, I frequently ordered from them. My bad review is for the poor service I received on the 19th March. I placed the order at 17.05 At 17.55 nothing had arrived so I called. I was told they would look into my order and call me back. I had to then call them back as nobody called. I was told they have found my order and was doing it. 5 minutes later I got a call to ask what I had ordered. "So, they wasnt doing it!" At 18.50 I called again to ask what was happening. I was told a lady had just left with my delivery. At 19.00 A MAN not a Lady delivered it. Nearly 2 hours after placing the order. Now, I thought the kind thing to do before leaving a bad review was to contact them and give them a chance to explain why it took so long. I said I can't fault your food and I understand mistakes happen, but why after the first hour I pointed out you had a order issue, why did you then take a further hour to solve it? 4 days have past now since i emailed them and I have had no response!!!! Will I use the Golden Palace again!! Sadly not after being ignored.

The food is good quality and is of the same standard every time I have visited

This place is amazing! Ordered last night for the first time and every dish was hitting the spot! Evey dish cooked perfectly! Staff are so kind and friendly, we love this place will definitely be ordering again! Thank you!

We did takeaway from this place on Saturday, 2nd July 2022. We ordered vegetarian dishes and specifically confirmed whether they are vegetarian dishes. We paid and came back home and about to eat and found out that they have given us strange meat items. I immediately called the place to explain but they were not helpful, they offered that they will sort something on our next visit. This is absolutely ridiculous.

Garbage bin worthy food. Where to start, the curry sauce was just watery and lacked flavour. The "thai green curry" was watery, no coconut milk or cream used at all. Contained no veg at all. Was a bland and horrible dish, not sure they know how to make it. Fried chicken was overdone. Glad they managed to make egg fried rice to standard. Will not use again.

Excellent salt and chilli pepper chips but Thai Green Curry was disappointing, not awful but just average.

Golden Palace is my local Chinese and I find the delivery time reasonable and the food always arrives hot and tastes good. Can't complain

Very disappointing we have had meals from here before and they have been very nice. Tonight's was cold and some of the food tasted like it was warm up from the day before. £30 down the drain

best chinese takeaway in my opinion whenever we order it’s from here we all find something we like and they have vegetarian options which is amazing, the portion sizes are good you can either pick up or get it delivered which is good. my favourite is their satay chicken and is the best i’ve tried.

I rarely leave reviews but just have to say this was by far the worst Chinese I've ever had. Anyone giving this place a good review needs to get their taste buds checked. There was zero flavour in any of the dishes we had. You'd honestly be better off getting a microwave Chinese from Tesco

NEVER AGAIN PLEASE READ FULLY I have had alot of Chinese meals but this has got to of been the worst ever. The food turned up but it was cold, the chips are basically oven chips and the meals instead of nice flavours was like they have just poured warm water over them. No flavour what's so ever. I ordered mine on just eat and was over the £18 for free delivery still got charged the delivery fee. I never leave reviews but I eat and work all over the country and this is in my top 3 of worse places to eat. Save your money or go somewhere else. TRUST ME

Use to use this place a lot but unfortunately no more, £60 order was over 30 mins late and everything was very cold when it turned up, ordered through Just Eat and now having a battle to get anything back for an order that was completely unacceptable and inedible. The restaurant doesn't even want to help and said I could have a 10% discount off my next order which is an insult. Unfortunately they have now lost us as a customer.

I just had a take-away from here when turned up and driver had gone I opened the food look ok apart from the pork balls that we’re burnt to a crisp I mean wholes in the batter the pork was black couldn’t even chew them the whole Chinese was completely tasteless so I called them to tell them about there pork balls to be told by the lady on the phone they was meant to cooked that way I asked for them to be changed she refused so will not be going there again wouldn’t even give that to a dog how this Chinese is open I don’t know needs to be shut permanently 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢🤢

Ordered a Chinese from here on New Year’s Day the wait for food delivery was around an hour or so but was to be expected didn’t mind waiting food was fresh tasty and not too greasy with good flavours

I’m vegan, so I had chips, some stir fried veg and sweet & sour sauce. Yeah, the veg was nice but how bad of a cook must you be to get veg wrong? I was very disappointed that there weren’t any vegan options, no separate menu or even a little section. Not sure I’ll be back until they add one.

Been using this restaurant for home delivery a few times recently. Excellent food and quick delivery. Definitely would recommend.

Wow, worst Chinese I've ever ordered. Chicken fried rice was stodgy, clumpy and cold. Crispy chilli beef looked lovely but may aswell of just been called crispy as there was no flavour. Chicken balls, greasy, doughy. Chips? Dry and definitely not fresh. Curry sauce watery, duck full of fat, chicken curry square pieces of chicken that looked like it had come out of a microwave!! Will never order from here again. What a waste of money!

I like this one, probably best one in MK for me, always order 79 and 104 or 100 ( add duck) and never got disappointed. Just an update as I'm reading so many negative feedback... Most of the food pictures of this place is uploaded by me, used them few days ago and had no issues with food what so ever. Getting take aways from them at least 2-4 times per month and no complaints about food quality. I only ever order vermicelli chew main variations and king prawn variations (always add duck to it)... Therefore can't guarantee if any other dishes are any good 😉

Zero stars if I could... Disgusting and expensive. A load of microwaved gloop. BBQ spare ribs with sauce had enough meat on them to feed a mouse. Crispy shredded beef, nice but tub half empty. Chicken chow mein, try and find the bits of chicken amongst the noodles. Will never go there again, I love freshly cooked ingredients !!!

OMG :) not only was the delivery half hour early but the food tasted amazing, the king prawn balls are the nicest I've ever had, the duck was a good portion, the rice pot was full and they enclosed a free portion of prawn crackers. Woukd definitely recommend and will use again

AWFUL!!! Everything tasteless.... ribs so dry and over cooked, no sauce which we ordered, seemed very old! Even the prawn crackers dont taste of n e thing.... my hot n sour soup tasted of nothing but cracked pepper

We ordered a family take away as we have done several times from this company. Food arrived and all the food pots were only half filled. Be warned. This company is scamming people. I will never use them again. I know times are tough. But if you choose to stay open. Then give your customers what they are paying for. Shame on you.

Love the food. But they're not great when it comes to customer service, but I would still recommend. I ordered a meal with boiled rice but when the delivery man arrived, they forgot the boiled rice. Tried calling several times and every time it was engaged. It's probably due to the fact many people want to order too, but it did make me a bit upset especially since this was a meal I couldn't eat without boiled rice and my food was getting cold(and it doesn't taste as good when heated up, but it's still good.) I do recommend this place as a takeaway as it does have many amazing dishes, but please make sure you have the delivery guy check if all your food is there, because they're not likely to answer if you try and call them if something is missing.

Always order from here and it's ALWAYS so nice. Food is delivered hot, delivery drivers are really friendly and the food is so tasty. I'd definately recommend this place to anyone

Was told to expect delivery to be 40-60 mins it took 1hr 20mins. The chips were definitely recooked, warm at best and very bad as they were covered in black bits. Chicken chow mein lacked any flavour. The chicken balls were doughy and dry gristly chicken. The rice was hard and lacked any flavour. Can’t say this was good at all and £30 for two people is very expensive.

Having been self isolating for a week we all fancied a chinese takeaway and found that the Golden Palace is one of the few takeaways who are still delivering. Our meal came quicker than expected. All food was hot and tasty. The chicken balls were some of the best we’ve had and the portion size was large. The crispy Mongolian lamb with pancakes was lovely. We will definitely use the Golden Palace again. Thank you.

Have had many deliveries and have not had a bad one previously but although it was Valentines we did not expect to have to call twice to find out where our order was and when it did finally arrive 45 minutes late, it was lukewarm at best. Not a great experience.

I ordered last night through Just Eat and was absolutely delighted with my order. It arrived before it was due, the food was piping hot and was the best Chinese I’ve ever had in Milton Keynes. Will definitely be going back and would highly recommend

Absolutely awful!!!! I ordered chicken satay dish (not starter) it came as 80% filled with peppers, 10% chicken, 5% peanuts, 5% onion and a ton of sauce (not peanutty at all) I also ordered beef with pineapple. Well, it should be titled pineapple with beef as the entire thing was pretty much pineapple with 6 small slices of beef and a little onion. The kung poo chicken was average but the sweet and sour chicken balls where nice. I will not be using this restaurant again that's for sure. Seriously disappointed

Friendly staff. Order was read back to me. Food was hot and tasty. Crispy chilli beef was not as spicy as I thought it was going be, personally I would have it with more chilli, but good for people who can't handle spice as much!

King prawns were not king prawns, they were minuscule prawns. Prawn toasts were flaccid and when I bit into it I got a mouthful of oil. Chow mein - flavourless

Not even worth a review as food arrived ordered king prawn chow mien minus the prawns and special fried rice minus the prawns again. Called and spoke to the manager that then said he would send more food out after I argued that what they advertised was not true and checked with kitchen to see how many prawns should be in the dish they said eight ha ha what a joke. The so called manager couldn’t even make a decision. Don’t order from here they are a joke.

Cold uncooked deep fried prawn balls. Very little egg in egg rice. We pre-phoned then picked up our order as we only live round the corner. After a busy day you just want to kick back with some nourishing well cooked food. The Golden Palace is best avoided as you will be sorely disappointed . We shall not use again.

This is our first time using this Chinese as a last minute due to being the best rated in or area. NOTHING BUT disappointed!!! The food was disgusting with little to no flavour if it had any flavour it was nothing like it was described on the menu. Everything tasted of strong vinegar or alcohol. I have now got food poisoning several hours after eating and instantly feeling sick after a few bites. MONEY WASTED! I tried contacting the restaurant with no response. I am not a happy person and will forever steer people away from this place

We always use this takeaway when having Chinese food. We call our order through for collection and we get a discount. Very fast and food is fantastic.

I really don't know what people are on about I've had at least 10 meals from this restaurant and they have been really tasty and I think value for money .I can assure you I have no affiliation to this place . Maybe I'm just lucky or maybe I can be bothered to write a nice review when I get a good meal and not just write one when it's bad ?????

Worse Chinese me and my partner have ever had!!! Overheard customers moaning about their dishes, sending them back. Not the best impression. We normally go to Sun Kwong in Woburn Sands, and others but they weren't open. Now I know why we haven't been here before ! Special fried rice was shockingly bad. It literally was plain boiled rice, which a couple peas and precisely 3 tiny prawns in it, few pieces of pork, no chicken, rice was so stodgy. Had better microwavable rice. Chicken chow mein had so many onions in it and hardly any chicken. Prawn crackers were stale. Shocked they still have a business. Won't be eating her again.

The order seemed reasonable - just over £50 for 3 adults and 5 kids delivered. The person that delivered the food was very polite and chatty and the delivery was 20 minutes earlier than expected - Excellent first impression. Not to last I'm afraid. As I was unpacking our order to serve up, I noticed an 'old oil' smell coming from the food! I'm sorry to say that anything on the order which had been fried (chips, crispy king prawns - which were not particularly crispy - prawn crackers etc) smelt and tasted as though they had been cooked in oil which should have been changed A LONG TIME AGO!. Not all bad though - Beef Chow mein is lovely, as were the other typically chinese dishes we ordered. Would we use again? In all honesty probably not but only because the oil issue spoiled the meal.

Shockingly bad, Terrible food. A real dissapointment. Mushy King prawn balls. Soggy spring Rolls. Squid as tough as shoe leather. Overcooked, dry pork. It really was this bad! we would have had a better experience if we threw our money in the bin and had a nice glass of tap water!!! This place does not deserve any star at all. But i have to tick one so i can leave this post!

I am absolutely disgusted with the service....firstly got delivered the WRONG order....then got delivered our correct order.....to then have the first delivery guy who delivered our order incorrectly banging my door down at 10pm at night stating we hadn't paid for our order.....when in fact we had paid the second driver who delivered our correct order as the first guy said we paid by pay pal (which we never do!)....After all this I have a bad belly the following day due to what I believe is the chicken.....shall never order again and would advise no one else to!

I ordered a meal for my and my partner.. it was terrible. The shredded chilli chicken was just batter with no chicken in it at all. The beef chow mein was dry and the beef was chewy like chewing on gristle. And the rice was also too dry and bland. Normally very happy with this Chinese but after that experience and waste of money I will find somewhere else next time. I shall no longer recommend!!!!

I placed an order at 7:50pm and it's currently 10:03pm and still no food! I have called up three times told twice that I was going to get a call back, never did. Unorganised and useless restaurant.

I love it and I want some more please! Just ask for for the spices and flavours you like. I did. No gluten, No soy sauce and no MSG please. A little chili oil and some green chilis please. They delivered to me some really great tasting, juicy, flavourful, spicy, food. Very friendy, very helpful staff and well worth the money too. Perfect!

Whats a complete joke!! Last time we bought from here was april and the chow main was burnt!! So we complained within our rights and they did nothing about it. We ordered tonight at 8.20pm and its now 10:42 we are still waiting they close at 11. Have called 4times and had nothing but crap come out there mouths. Dont waist ur good money on them. Ive ordered a curry now

sometimes gets the food right but overall a terrible experience. staff do not know how to operate card payments properly and frequently reject orders for this reason and are generally rude and unpleasant to deal with. Food is hit and miss and dealing with them can be infuriating and a little demeaning. overall id say skip if you can.
