Ella se alejó sin ninguna resolución. La salsa cremosa estaba muy mojada. Sin duda no recomendaría.

Great food and great staff, we have been in on many occasions and never had an issue. Sunday lunches are lovely and we had some special requests which were handled fantastic. Will be back soon. Keep up the great work

Llegó antes de Navidad fue impactante la comida fue más de una hora tarde, luego dijeron que se habían quedado sin ciertas verduras y carnes, eran las 4 pm! Le di otra oportunidad hoy comida reservada para 5. 30 para un asado dominical, una y otra hora más tarde antes de que llegara la comida y otra vez era la misma comida de mierda que teníamos antes de Navidad otra vez no la verdura y la carne correctas oh y otra vez aparentemente habían estado ocupados así que se acabaron. y usando alimentos que habían estado allí desde el período de Navidad! ¡Qué broma se ha convertido este lugar! Le pregunté a uno de los empleados dónde estaba el brócoli, su respuesta fue "¡No sé, no lo logro! El personal y el pesebre son groseros. El León de Oro solía ser un lugar encantador para comer y relajarse. También había otros clientes alrededor en otras mesas que estaban descontentos con la comida y el servicio! ¡Este lugar necesita nuevo personal y ciertamente nueva administración! ¡Un lugar horrible! ¡Evita!

Went for a Sunday dinner , if you like frozen food and waiting an hour to get your frozen food and then poor attitude off the staff then this is the place for you , a few tables near ours were even disappointed with the food , they were even STILL serving " seasonal veg " frozen veg from over Christmas and we were told that by the manageress !!! This is the second time we have had the same rubbish served us and we should've learnt the first time , we will never go back there at all !

I wouldn't give this place even a 1 star rating!! Came in before Christmas it was shocking food was over an hour late then they said they had ran out of certain vegetables and meats, it was 4pm! Gave it another chance today meal booked for 5.30 for a Sunday roast,again an hour later before the food arrived and again it was the same crappy food that we had before Christmas again not the right veg and meat, oh and again apparently they had been busy so ran out and using foods that had been there from the Xmas period!! There were hardly any customers in!! What a joke this place has turned into! I asked one member of staff where was the broccoli his reply was "I don't know I don't make it! The staff and manger are rude!!! The Golden Lion used to be a lovely place to eat and relax. There were also other customers around on other tables that were unhappy with the food and the service! This place needs new staff and certainly new management! Awful place!! Avoid!!!

Visited today for breakfast lovely and clean. Amazing customer service off lady with blond hair didn't catch her name. Also young lady asked was every thing ok. We will definitely be back breakfast was lovely

Desde el principio, las cosas no fueron bien. Al llegar, descubrimos que había un menú limitado, algo de lo que no nos informaron hasta que llegamos al bar. Desafortunadamente, el plato que quería pedir no estaba disponible, así que tuve que elegir otra cosa. Después de hacer nuestro pedido, esperamos más de 45 minutos para que llegara nuestra comida sin explicación por el retraso. Cuando la comida finalmente llegó, fue extremadamente abrumador. Mi plato de pollo era soso, y la salsa era tan delgada que era prácticamente como agua. El pollo en sí estaba gomoso y mal cocinado, por lo que la comida fue muy decepcionante. Para empeorar las cosas, el servicio era inconsistente. Nadie nos preguntó cómo estaba nuestra comida o comprobar si todo estaba bien, pero nos dimos cuenta de que la mesa de al lado tenía varios miembros del personal comprobando su experiencia. Esto fue especialmente frustrante ya que esa mesa tenía quejas sobre su orden, lo que se sumó al ambiente caótico. En general, la experiencia fue decepcionante. La comida estaba por debajo de lo normal, el servicio era desatenta, y la falta de comunicación sobre el menú o retrasos era inaceptable. Yo no recomendaría.

So me and my sister in law arrived at lunchtime today to have the festive menu not realising you really needed to book. However, not a problem, the lovely lady (I'm so sorry I didn't get her name, but they are all lovely) spoke to the chef and said it wouldn't be a problem. We had the turkey dinner, followed by cheesecake for me, christmas pudding for her, and it did not disappoint. It was absolutely delicious, presented beautifully, and lovely atmosphere, very festive! Thank you so much to the staff for making our afternoon a very pleasant one indeed, and a very Merry Christmas to you all!

Very disappointed waited an hour for our food the service was awful the place was a mess tables not being cleared won't be rushing back

The pub had an old-world charm about the place, and the food and atmosphere were very good

10 of us on a works do, no lasagna, no burgers and one of our colleagues left to starve. Note to oneself...... NEVER AGAIN!

Lovely deco pub . Pizza 🍕 is amazing here. They are different to your average pizza toppings which is good 👍.

Party of 10 family members on annual meet up. Outstanding service, great food in a warm and cosy environment. Even our dog was spoilt by the staff. A big thank you goes out to all the staff for help making it a great evening.

Great food an good selection of spirits just what you expect from a holts venue.

We've been invited to a festive meal here at Xmas time so we went to taste the food to see what we were in for. We weren't disappointed everything was fine service decor the food all was 1st class. Can't wait for the festive meal. I'm sure we'll make this a regular.

Nice, clean and comfortable place with plenty of parking available. Good value and variety of meals available. The food was prepared taking into account any allergies or dietary needs, and was well presented, as well as being tasty.

Stopped by for a drink and bite to eat after a walk with the dog at Clifton Country Park. Pub looked newly refurbished and we were made to feel more than welcome with our four legged friend. Drinks and food really good as well the lovely, warm and friendly staff. Probably the friendliest I’ve come across. Thank you 🙏🏻

Lovely visit, staff wram and friendly but I had the cheese and onion pie, chips and beans. The pastry of the pie let it down. It was very soft and spongy as if put in the microwave. Spoke to staff and was reassured it had gone in the oven.

El barman era tan servicial y amable conmigo cuando llegué sentado 21 calle Septiembre en un estado de angustia después de haberse perdido completamente y frustrado por los desvíos en la m 62. Estoy muy agradecido de ser recibido tan amablemente. . Sus cafés son preciosos. Me aseguraré de llamar si alguna vez paso.

The staff were very helpful good service and good food

We’ve been meaning to try this pub for a while. It looks lovely on the outside-very pretty and the inside was pleasantly decorated. Barman was friendly and helpful. Lager was competitively priced but wine was way too expensive both for what and where it was (this isn’t Manchester so maybe think twice about charging £9 for a glass of mediocre rose). The menu is quite extensive which is always a worry. We had fish and chips and the Wexford chicken. Chicken breast was so overcooked and therefore horribly dry and the green beans were inedible (tasteless and chewy)-I really disliked the whole dish-nobody asked why I’d left most of it. Fish and chips was described by my dining companion as ‘dry’ - the portion of mushy peas was tiny. We didn’t enjoy the food one bit and it wasn’t exactly cheap. The place seems to have ideas above what it is able to deliver-or maybe we’re just used to better. We won’t be going back again anyway.

Just eaten here and the food was superb. 14 of us in the party and the food was served in excellent time and cooked to perfection. Staff were friendly and the pub is fresh and clean.

Friendly staff but waited nearly an hour for food and nearly thirty minutes for dessert. Lots of staff but spent most of their time standing chatting whilst tables were dirty. Not worth the money , expensive with poor service

First time ever in this pub, we were passing so called in one afternoon for a couple of pints. First impressions...the pub looked clean, organised and friendly. We ordered two pints of different IPA, both were good and the price was decent. The young guy who served us was polite, approachable and recommended one of the IPAs. Good service stands out in this day and age so the interaction enhanced our visit. It's a pub that we will now revisit when we are passing through the area on our fishing trips, we have a selection of pubs that we know are worth having a beer or two in on the way home and this can be added to the list. The food menu looked decent also.

Thought I’d give this a go for Sunday lunch menu but was very disappointed. Asked the waitress what the meats were on the Sunday roast (she had no idea and had to check) we went for the safe option the turkey, when it arrived it looked like frozen veg had been used, the food lacked taste and was very bland. No seasoning was used and even the gravy taste of nothing. Very disappointing, I really don’t understand why it was quite busy but maybe other diners weren’t having the Sunday roast. Best to try somewhere else and save yourself some money.

This Holts pub was a first visit (on a recommendation) for us. Light, nicely decorated & furnished. Staff friendly and informative, food delicious and brought to the table hot, straight from the kitchen. Main meals & desserts for 3 adults, with a bottle of rose & two pints of beer - change from £75! To me, that's great value.

Not happy, just ordered 3 meals (including sweets). I just wanted turkey, everyone else was given around 6 pieces of meat, I was only given 1.

Good food, bit more expensive than other alternatives in the area. But we’ll worth having an visit to! Try the unholy pizza with roasted union and pickles… hahaha

This place has undergone an extensive upgrade that has made it a much brighter lighter and open gastro pub that feels more like a county pub with warm welcoming local feel.

Golden Lion has been refurbished since I was last in. Lovely decor. The food was delicious. Service friendly and efficient . There are no issues with parking.

Great refurbishment, access could do with a ramp other than that a very enjoyable time. Staff friendly and helpful food good value and very tasty 😋

We Love This Joseph Holt Pub/Eatery, It's Not Far From Our Home, Having Said That. We Always Take The Car (As It's About 1½ Miles Away). The Food Choices Are Good 👍🏻 & Best Of All, They Serve Down To Earth 🌎 English Food 😋. Can't Comment On The Beer & Wine As I'm Always The Driver.

Good atmosphere good selection of beers and the food is really good, it's been done up recently and it's made a big difference, I definitely recommend

Took my Mum for Dinner, The food was Lovely, fresh, Piping hot, We both had Fish and Chips and it was so nice. The pub looks nice and so spotless. The Staff we're brilliant really attentive and extremely polite, weekly dinner there from now on.

First time in since the revamp, food was fantastic, will be going here in future rather than having to have microwaved Turkey Dinosaurs, chips and beans at the one 100 yards down the road.

A very clean and cozy local pub. I love the Mazala and also the herbs fry chicken wings. I have not yet tried the steak, so I reserve the fifth star for next time trying the golden steak.

Visited the Golden Lion this evening turned out to be an extremely disappointing visit and most certainly won’t be visiting again. Myself and my daughter waited over 50 mins for our food was told when ordering food there was a 30 mins wait which I accepted but was more like close to an hour, I had to get up and ask a member of staff if they can check on where our meals were, no apology from staff member but said she would send someone over to our table. Young waitresses advised ours was the next table to come out from the kitchen. Meals took a further 15 mins to come out and other tables were before ours. Once meals came I was told they had no Yorkshire puddings left for my Sunday dinner while presenting me with the dinner surly they would have known before starting to make my meal there was no Yorkshire puddings left? Extras we also ordered didn’t come out and had to ask for them. Requested to see the manager only to be presented with the first member of staff I spoke to, was quite surprised she was a manager, aired my frustration to the manager. Manager went in the kitchen to check what had gone on. Returned to our table and said “yeah the kitchen staff said they couldn’t find any Yorkshire puddings but I think they made up that story! So can’t tell you what’s gone on” Which was completely unprofessional of her. Offered complimentary drink or dessert as a standard form of apology which we declined as we wanted to just eat our food and leave. While eating our meals the table next to us also complained about how dry their chicken was an sent their meal back. All in all very poor experience and won’t be returning.

Only been I once thought holtes pubs were cheap 5 pounds 50 for strongbow 2 50 half of larger started going next door to robin hood 3 75 cheaper for same drinks

Went did Sunday dinner today (11.2.24), not as busy as I have seen it before but the food was really nice. Served quickly after we ordered and everything was nice and hot. Have had a few disappointing meals recently but we will definitely be returning here.

When the pub was reopened after being refurbished late 2023 the food was lovely and we couldn't fault it. However just recently we've noticed the standard has dropped. Chips that are still hard, not fully cooked and pastry that's wet and soggy. Whatevers happened to the kitchen staff. Won't be going again.

Just been for Sunday lunch, it hasn’t taken long for the food to go down hill. veg alright the rest was tasteless and dry. Waited over 45 minutes for the food. Overheard the people on the next table complaining as well. They had the Sunday dinner as well. They need to buck their ideas up. Very disappointed

Waiting 2hrs 30mins for food with baby and mum with dementia. Party of 10 of us.

Went back here after their recent refurb to check it out. On previous occasions we have found the staff to be miserable and very stand offish. Unfortunately nothing has changed in that department. Bar maid totally lacks any and all personality and sucked the life and happiness out of my day. Food was average, atmosphere was terrible, I won’t be bothering again.

We held my mums Wake here today, the food was lovely, staff very attentive and they were happy to help and answer any questions when I was making the arrangements. The pub has recently been refurbished, it looks lovely and is a friendly relaxing atmosphere.

Since refurb I have been here several times and the food has been consistently excellent! The food was cooked perfectly, portion sizes good, lovely friendly staff and great environment. Really cannot recommend highly enough - great refurb and lovely friendly atmosphere!

Place has been made lovely but the food was awful sum was cold sum was clearly burnt and was still sent out for us we did complain and was offered a free dessert really should av had a refund we left half of it very dissatisfied

We were seated next to a table with a dog which is perfectly fine but my friends were allegeric to dogs, they moved us on request but I think people with dogs should have a designated area for dogs other than that it was perfect.

Refurbishment is lovely. Staff are all pleasant and helpful. Food not so good. Chips were awful. Hard and not cooked through. Lovely waitress brought a fresh dish but they were exactly the same. Beef baguette was soggy. It's not a cheap eatery so would expect better. Won't be returning.

Really impressed with the new Golden Lion. We just had the breakfast and it was lovely. Full English and a coffee for 7.50 can't beat it .Other friends have been in for food and also say how impressed they are with the renovation and the food. Let's hope it continues.

The make over is great and a lovely atmosphere. The front of house staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough. All the food was delicious from starters, classic mains to the pizza! Hats off to Anthony, one of the chefs, his food was delicious! Will be going back again and again.

Really nice refurbishment, whoever the tables with benches are very uncomfortable, need proper chairs when your eating.

As a HGV driver I regularly stop here when in the area parked overnight. Brilliant Menu, not once in the 50 plus times ive called in has there been a meal anything less than bang on. Bar staff are fantastic, can't do enough. Nat, Wendy, Nial & Jack especially. (See them the most often!) - even sit and chat to some of the regulars now. It's now my local away from home. 😁 The recent refurbishment has worked wonders for the place. Give it a try. You won't go wrong. Keep it up guys. ❤️

Beautiful interior after the refit. Food was amazing and very reasonably price.

I had the gammon to which I must say was the best by county mile I have ever had. The wife had the pizza which was excellent. The sister in law had small bites .hats off to the staff .

We quite like the revamped look. It snice that Holts is spending money on their estate. The new menu still has some old favourites and its a pity that the featherblade - excellent - has had its accompanying sauce "dumbed down" as some complained that it was too spicy - rubbish, it was very tasty. Sadly, the complaints with no taste always win out when someone tries something new.
