Everything was great apart from the fact that there was only one waitress on and she was run off her feet because it was quite busy. This led to a bit of a wait at times. Food was great.

We had the best time. The service was brilliant, the staff were accommodating and were able to change our seating plan without too much trouble. Excellent service which I would highly recommend.

Last Sunday, we went to the Golden Lion at 3pm for a Sunday lunch, it was absolutely delicious and really good value for money. Portions were very generous, so much so I couldn’t manage a pudding which is a shame because they had a good range on offer. Dog friendly too. Definitely recommend.

The best Sunday lunch in Brixham, large servings and nicely cooked. Great service and good selection of drinks. No room for deserts which looked amazing, next time !

This is the best place to go for a drink with food. Excellent food, atmosphere and service, and being local it is perfect. Thank you Jax and Alex.

The large mixed grill was poor quality. The cooked ham was taken from sliced mixed ham pieces from a economic pack, usually used for sandwiches. The lamb chop was 4mm thick and a with a large section that was just fat. The chicken piece had unmentioned BBQ sauce on it

Had a great Sunday lunch, big portions, everything tasted amazing, great value for money. Pub very busy and I think they were short staffed but managed very well under the circumstances. Sticky toffee pudding also great! Don't hesitate in trying this place out, you'll need to book though.

Another very successful visit to Golden Lion for Sunday lunch during our holiday in Brixham. As always the food is excellent and you cannot fault the size of the portions. Definitely worth a visit and you will not be disappointed. Already booked again to visit next Sunday.

Came here on a Sunday for a roast dinner and it was absolutely perfect, moist, juicy meat, crispy and fluffy potatoes and delicious gravy. We were not the best customers, we arrived late and then knocked over a drink, but the barman was so nice and understanding. .

The wife and I went there today for Sunday lunch well the food was amazing great choice of meats, all veg freshly cooked, roast pots beautiful we would highly Recommend, staff very good and welcoming we will return, adviced to book plus dog friendly

Just had another visit to this little gem of a pub. Slightly out of town but worth the little walk to get there (don’t take the car there is nowhere to park). Sunday lunch is a must !!! A choice of meats and always cooked well, with the veg cooked very nicely too. Not the mush you get in other pubs around the town. Warm welcome from the staff and the price is amazing for what you get. Don’t expect to get anything else done in the afternoon other than sofa and a movie. You’ll be too stuffed to do much else. Book in advance only as it can get busy. Don’t think they do “walk in’s”. Enjoy.

Old school pub that was very reasonably priced with large portions. Honestly, my daughter put a huge dent in her spaghetti bolognaise and they offered to package it up to go home and there was still a good adult portion left! Tbh, I’d have given it 5 stars but there was a smell to the place (imagine cooking and old pub carpets) that took a little getting used to.

We’ve been in for Sunday lunch twice now and weren’t disappointed on either visit. The Golden Lion is now under new ownership and it was lovely to see the pub packed on both occasions (clearly the new owners are doing the right things!). We had roast dinners on each visit and the food was great. The meals are well presented, well cooked and are good value. The pub and staff are very welcoming and there was a really nice atmosphere to the place. Definitely recommended for a visit.

Food is great in this friendly pub, lovely staff, meals were amazing, plenty of food, tasty and reasonably priced. We especially loved the onion rings! We visited twice whilst staying in Brixham. Highly recommend to everyone.
