Golden Gate Take Away in Torfaen

There was plenty to choose from and we really enjoyed it. Bonus was, if it was your birthday, the meal is free. The staff was very welcoming and friendly so would definitely come again 🙂😋

Visited last night (our 2nd visit)… cost £56 there about for 2 buffets a cider and a Pepsi. Good variety of food . I’ve yet to visit a buffet where the food is piping hot and this was no different. The one thing I noticed last night that wasn’t there last time was pre assembled burgers that were there the whole of our visit (I think it would be more beneficial for the business if they cooked them to order ) . I enjoyed the food, it was tasty , some more than others - I love the Singapore rice. Puddings are the money maker for me so make sure you leave some room for them. Fresh fruit, chocolate fountain, ice lollies, ice cream, profiteroles, cheesecakes …. For me there was a good selection … super friendly staff too and the lady who books you in behind the bar (was there on both visits ) is an absolute delight …. Would we return - yes we would ❤️

The cheeky buggers. I ordered a takeaway yesterday, i knew straight away that the noddles, pork, and duck were from the buffet, not freshly cooked. Probably a few hrs old. ( only know this as I work in the industry). So food Dry and tough. Noodles....BAD. Wish I took photos now.

From when I walked in it looked pretty nice and very fancy so I was expecting for what we paid it would be 5 star and then when it came to the price 52.88 for two all u can eat and 2 pint size Pepsis so price first off not good most of the meats was fatty and barley any meat to it was mostly cold even tho we came in 30 minutes after they opened so u could of thought it all was going to be boiling but not as expected on the arrival then was let down by the fact I had hair in my food most the fruit was stale and most of the desserts was very cheapy low quality for how much they are making u would of thought it would be best of Best But was not impressed definitely won’t be coming here again a total rip off

Ordered food to be delivered at 19.30. Came bang on time but was stone cold, small portions and everything felt dry and shrivelled up. Chips were mainly scrap ends and everything tasted bland. Also super pricey. Wouldn’t order again

Visited before became the new buffet and loved.. Tried the new style last night, note we paid £70 for 3 of us, which felt very pricey and had to pay on entry. Food was plentiful and lovely and hot. Duck pancakes very tasty, rice and noodles lovely. Loved the mussels and king prawns! Lots of sweet and sticky balls, crispy chicken, stayer nibbles and chips. Son well pleased with the Domino quality pizza!

I visited this restaurant on Wednesday night and was very impressed with it as it’s all you can eat they had a great selection of food and really fresh great value for money and the staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was to much trouble I would highly highly recommended this restaurant and takeaway

Been going here for a while, either this one or one a bit more local to us. Never had a bad meal from here, the manderin sauce is by far the best! Both lunch sized meals (half and half) are great portion sizes as well a full evening chinese, always left overs for next day! Prices are fair tooOnly issue sometimes have is the pots of sauce are not always hot, more warm, but quick 30 seconds in microwave does the trick.Will continue to use Golden Gate in the future

If you’ve been smart enough to read a review, be smart enough to take my advice DO NOT ORDER! This is the worst food I have encountered for a long time, quality bad, Flavour worse and I’m still being reminded of my meal many hours on. Wish I’d made beans on toast!

I’ve had Chinese from here on and off for years but the one we had last week was absolutely delicious. Everything was perfect from the chips and rice to chilli beef and chicken balls. The portions were very good. The food came within 40 mins. I thought when I ordered it was a little pricey BUT it was worth every single penny and I can’t wait for my next meal.

Just ordered my food an they added £8 to the price so cancelled they said they had to order more food but being a Chinese takeaway it doesn’t make any sense

This is the worst takeaway I've ever had in my life. Nothing but bright red gloopy congealed disgusting food. Spent 40.00 on 5 different meals all looked and tasted same bright red gloop!!!!! Used to be an ok take away not sure what's happened everything had to be binned!!!!!!! Will never visit again.

Absolutely horrendous, not even a chinese. Tasted awful. The salt and pepper chicken tastes like KFC chicken The sauce on the crispy chilli beef was disgusting

Tasteless salt and chilli chicken. Thick undercooked batter on chicken balls and worst of all the chicken was pink. Avoid at all cost. Feeling nauseas at the thought.

Food is delicious and have always had really good food. The hygiene is really good. All the staff are polite and friendly

Have had a few meals from Golden Gate now since the place I used to use changed hands and always found the food to of good quality and tasty.Delivery always within the time scale but the thing that stands out for me is the staff in the phone, so helpful and polite which is quite rare these days.

Tbf the meal arrived very quickly. If only they’d taken more time! I had salt n pepper shredded chicken. There was no salt, no pepper and no chicken. Just deep fried batter. The wife had crispy chilli beef which came half covered in sauce. The egg fried rice was also poor and had no egg in it that we could tell. Don’t bother with this place. Take your cash elsewhere.

I did not enjoy this at all . Probably the worst take away I have endured. It was recommended to me but I did not enjoy it at all

Ordered chicken in black bean sauce, Singapore chow mein, booed rice and chips. Chicken was inedible and definitely not chicken. Chips were mushy. Singapore chow mein had no spice in it at all and no rice. Worst takeaway meal ever and won’t be going back.

Ordered a meal for two. Waited an hour and a half and only half of the order was delivered. This is the second time this has happened from the golden gate. Well never use them again.

This is the only place that I go for takeaway chiness food as the food is to my liking. They did go through a bad patch when the bbq ribs and curry sauce were horrible but now they have returned to the old recipe so it is great once again

We tried this place for the first time and it was awful. One of the dishes was just red coloured gloop with no flavour and pieces of chicken deep fried, it was actually inedible and went in the bin. The other dish was a chow mein this was a little better but the quality of the meat in it was poor. The ribs would have given a dog a saw jaw!! I'm not a fussy eater but this was bad. Don't waste your money try elsewhere.

After trying this takeaway against my better judgement how I wish I'd stuck with my gut instinct. The bland food arrived after an hour could with as much taste as the mud in my garden , I had a choice of bland chicken curry , congiled egg fried rice or noodles that could easily have come out of a packet from Aldi. I advised the rude "lady" who took my order that my wife was allergic to fish and nuts so I must thank her for sending the prawn crackers although it may have put my wife out of her misery rather than eating the food.

We eat from here regularly. The portion size is large for the amount you pay and the quality is regularly excellent. Good delivery service and very reasonable. Cannot fault it.

Tuvimos nuestra entrega por primera vez desde aquí la última noche, ya que nuestra costumbre estaba cerrado. Nos dijeron que sería 30 minutos (era la única parte positiva) la verdad es que resultó en menos de 30 minutos. No pedimos mucho, simplemente, alas y ternera chowmein crujientes lonchas de. Estaba lleno de azúcar, y que pone en chowmein tomates? Asqueroso! ! Pero eso no fue lo peor, nos ha hecho gravemente enfermos toda la noche hasta la mañana, donde tanto mi compañero como yo no puedo mantener cualquier cosa! ! ! . . . . Eso es todo lo que puedo decir es evitar. Y la única razón por la que un 1 es que no me permitiría presentar sin desgarrarse! ! ! !

Tenía, y estaba todo entrega fría. Las bolas de pollo. y la salsa grasosa eran dulce y amarga estaba tan fría que tenía gelatinoso. . . El chow mien era incomible y estoy seguro de que había sido recalentados. . Las patatas fritas eran horribles, Dios sabe cuántos días habían sido tumbados en agua o había sido parcialmente cocinados antes de que me envió. . . No tengo donde cuando me quejé. . Nunca recomendaría o comprar desde allí. . .

No nos hemos ido a Golden Gate durante unos años. Tuvimos una comida agradable. Todo estaba bien caliente y sabrosa! Sin duda volveremos.

Sólo he pedido desde aquí pelotas de pollo, ya que es el mejor lugar de Cwmbran. Son enormes y te dan un montón en una porción. No puedo opinar sobre nada más como iv sólo he tenido pelotas de pollo con papas fritas. Nunca he tenido problemas con mi comida.

We use this take away all the time, the food is great and prices are reasonable and we will continue to use it in the future We often use the delivery service and normally delivery is around 30 to 40 minutesIf we are picking up food we phone the order through first and by the time you drive to the shop it's normally ready to pick up and goThis is a good Chinese take away, try it out

Poor customer service.... got hung up on and girl on the phone was rude when I asked where my food was over an hour late!!! NEVER GOING BACK

We have had lots of takeaways from here and never had a bad one. The food us always hot, fresh and plentiful. The only complaint would be they put too much ginger in the chop suey.

The food was delivered cold and just awful. My husband who can eat just about anything could not eat it. Tasteless curry and sweet and sour chicken balls with the strangest texture. Gave it 1 star as I could not give it none.

We had our food delivered.The honey spare ribs didn't taste of honey at all.The prawn chow mein was burnt and smelt very burnt.Why did they think this was acceptable to send out.The rice dishes were bland,not very tasty at all.Very disappointed ! Will NEVER eat here again ! EAT SOMEWHERE ELSE !

Bought a meal, beef chowmain. Got it home niece said it has a strange smell. When I looked it was burnt. That was not the problem so much, it's just when we buy a meal out as a treat, so disappointed when you can't enjoy it. Then when I took it back, the lady said nothing, then took the meal into the kitchen, came back said "do you want a meal now. I said no and she offered me a credit note. To be fair she said you can have something else, I asked for another meal then she said, it has to be the same price. I agreed then left. In brief , no real apology, no real recompense ( a meal and maybe an extra for my troubles) I always eat from the China Palace, were I have never had a bad meal, unfortunately it was closed so went to the Golden Gate, I will never go back again, all it takes is common courtesy and better customer skills. Very poor.

I have been ordering from the Golden Gate for many years, never had a bad meal yet! In fact, my daughter's, who live in England, can't wait to come home for their favourite take away.

Service incredibly poor. Took payment for an order, not all of the order was in the bag. Was asked to go back down to collect, again. Alternatively they would take off the bill next time. My food would of been cold had I gone back down and I would never order from there again. Unpleasant, not helpful, disinterested, took payment but did not deliver service or product. Food very tasteless and bland and not even hot. First and last time I use golden gate and would strongly recommend anyone else to go elsewhere. Very unorganised and extremely poor quality. I feel so strongly about it I'll even raise with trading standards because they are promoting a service/product and are not delivering.

My favourite Chinese takeaway. Food is always lovely. Their battered fish is nice too! Staff are helpful and friendly.

Absolutely vile food, tasteless and cold, can't even cook chips and the rice was so clogged together that it blocked the toilet when we tried to flush it away, it all went in the bin as even the dogs wouldn't touch it and we spent the night up with bad stomachs, thanks a bunch for £30 couldn't even deliver on time, turned up half an hour early so the guests we had weren't here, in a way thank god so they didn't see what rubbish it was

We ordered from here and the food is horrendous! Not even the dogs would touch it its that bad! There was zero taste to anything, the rice was just cheap packet crap and there service is shocking and extremely rude.

My favourite Chinese by far! Been ordering from here for the past 8 years and wouldn't go anywhere else! Only downfall is the girls on the phone can sometimes be a bit rude

used to be good. Ordered a meal after the amazing Chans shut. Foul. The meal was late being delivered. The driver forgot a dish and then never returned,even tho we had paid the full asking price. The food was warm and dry. Sorry guys not that great anymore.

its had its day, we picked up a takeaway from here about two weeks ago, the rice was full of water, chicken balls soggy batter, RUBBISH.

we had a curry from here the other night. What a disappointed the meal was. The rice was dry and the curry didn't have a lot of taste. Meals not as good as they used to be

Can't comment on the delivery service as I live a 2 minute walk away and that would be lazy! I. This is one of the best Chinese Takeaways I have used... ever. Favourites are the sweet and sour chicken balls with special fried rice (That does 3 meals!) and the crispy duck. Friendly staff as well and always busy in there. Visited many times in the 2 years I have lived in the area, Brilliant value for money too! Also good for a sneaky chilled bottle of wine if you suddenly fancy one at 10.30pm - They stop serving that at 11pm.

Very good grub, always quick with collections, the only chef in cwmbran who knows how to cook crispy shredded beef l! Would recommend any time!

Living between Pontypool and Abergavenny we have a several options for Chinese take out with a few of them delivering but we always make the effort (15 min drive) to order from the Golden Gate. Food always comes properly packed, piping hot and plenty of it. The Singapore style chicken chow mein is the best I have ever tried from any take away past or present.Good take away food, worth a try...

fab takeaway. the food is cooked fresh to order and if u want a dish without something the staff is very happy to do it for you without hesitation. Staff always polite and helpful. Delivery time is very good as well

Love the Golden Gate. Food is always lovely, services is always great, delivery always quick (even on the weekends).
