Golden Cod in Ashfield

Brilliant lunch deals, nice portions and good quality food 👍🏻 Fish is large, even for minis lunch deals start from £4 and fish and chips £3.49 on a Wednesday not many places you can eat for under a fiver these days

This used to be the best, go-to local chippy, but just lately the prices seem to be increasing whilst the portions seem to be getting smaller.

Very poor again for usual place chips very soggy and tasted of old fat . Couldn’t eat them and threw all dinner in bin this is twice now yet always been here and great . What’s going on ?? New staff ? Owners ??

So previous visits I’ve been pre lockdowns and after lockdown, I’ve always been able to have my sauce separate not on my food and all of a sudden it’s not allowed, i even offered to pay for the pots. The excuse given was it’s the manager who will tell us off if we did that as we on cctv yet previous visits it’s always been ok. Not the young lady fault behind counter. But a pathetic excuse. Not everyone wants sauce but wants a meal deal. 12.12.20.

Pie.chips. & mushy peas and gravy are beautiful from here. the chippy on east field side is very efficient. Thankyou staff for your hard work 10/10

In a time where most of the world is struggling financially due to Covid and children are going hungry its refreshing to see the Golden Cod giving free sausage and chips to children. Whilst some may day its a PR stunt and others may criticise the unhealthy nature of the food, I still find it refreshing to see someone doing something about child hunger. I dont care if it gets more paying customers into the shop or if the food isn't as healthy ad it could be. I care that some children won't be feeling hungry for a little while longer. Well done.

Great food cooked property not raw and pale chips that most chip shops do. Great friendly staff great price and service

Visit this place at least once a week now.. Changed hands a while ago oh what a difference!!! Staff are so friendly and polite always repeat your order back to you at till.. Always greet you and have a laugh and joke food always hot and tasty... Chips are amazing so glad i live just around the corner from this little gem 😍👌

An excellent chippy serving great food. Wednesdays they do mini fish and chips for £1.99 and £3.95 other days. Kebabs are bang on too and all fresh

Best chips I've ever had from here, previous owners went down hill towards the end. Now they're very nice and consistent. I have a sausage special and it's very nice, can't complain. Also the staff are very friendly people.

Not to happy, had a fish today batter was hard looked like it had been stood hours. On the good side chips and peas were nice
