Golden City in North East Lincolnshire

Decided to give it another go since reopening. Waste of money, chips were cold despite only living two mins away and overall standard was diabolical. Will not use again.

Thought id give this a try after it opening a couple of weeks ago under new ownership… wish now i hadnt. Had Beef curry and ive never tasted anything so bland in my life, no taste, no flavour. Last time i will be using Golden City.

Had 2 meals from here in the last few weeks and both were excellent. The things that stand out are the quality of ingredients compared with some others in the area. This is now our go to for a Chinese.

Lovely food 😋 tried several mains every dish was tasty homemade chips special chow mein was lovely well worth a visit and very friendly

Food was absolutely awful ,burnt the menu so we never order again ,if a Chinese restaurant can't even cook noodles what does that say,and we all feel sick and we didn't even eat a third of it ,happy Friday 🤮👉

Great service and a fabulous meal used several times never had a bad meal tried several different meals off the menu non have disappointed

Absolutely naff..who doesn’t deliver to Waltham it’s 5 minutes down the road...your loss you missed out on an order for over 20 people, stick to what you know guy...bring back the old owners

Always good quality food, usually get the 4 in 1. Fast service food is always value for money and yummy!! Would highly recommend

This used to be one of the best chinese takeaway's in grimsby. Not any more. Had a £19 meal and it was disgusting. Chips were limp, soggy and greasy. Fried rice was tasteless, chow mein was tasteless as was the King prawn with chicken and mushroom, which had 2 prawns in it. Sweet and sour sauce was vile, but the prawn crackers were OK, as was the battered chicken. Also did not recieve the mini rolls and samosas you are supposed to get for spending more than 15 quid. I would give it zero stars but that's not an option

Best ribs in Grimsby and Cleethorpes... they are huge and very very meaty and tasty. Can’t understand the bad reviews... never had a bad takeout from here. Curries are good as well as chow mien and the black bean dishes. Chips are proper chips. Delivery fast.

Used to order from here regularly but haven’t for a while. Tonight’s food was terrible and feel so disappointed and ripped off. The chips look like they were a week old, dry, blackened and tasteless. The Salt & Chillie chicken arrived in a cardboard chicken box and was on a thick layer of cold chopped lettuce???? With raw onion, pepper and carrots so therefore was stone cold. The special Chop Suey my husband ordered looked disgusting and he said it was terrible too. I wonder if under new management since we last ordered, will certainly never order from here again and wouldn’t ever recommend it like we used to. Just awful and a waste of money!!!

We have ordered from here for a long time as we love the food and the value. We ordered tonight using a menu which isn’t that old, possibly only a couple of months old. As we are used to dishes being 4 for £13 this keeps us coming back every time. Tonight when our food arrived we were asked for £19.70 for our 4 dishes. Had we known of the change we wouldn’t of ordered and we won’t be again. I feel that when ordering if your staff can clearly see that it’s 4 dishes they should have the courtesy to say it’s no longer 4 for £13 on set days.

The single best Chinese ever! When I come back to visit Grimsby I always always go here! I try to stock up when I go back to London!

Worst Chinese I have ever had, ordered last night and food was here within 15 mins, normally I'd be pleased by that until I opened the bags. Chips were about 8hrs old, scabby black and just plain awful, lemon chicken was terrible, overcooked and solid batter, salt and pepper prawns were just prawns again overcooked, no taste whatsoever, used to be a A+ takeaway but those days have long gone, will not order again from here

This takeaway is tucked away in the backstreets away from the main parade. A tidy small place with polite staff and quick service. The meals were a good size and well priced Parking could be difficult on busy days.

I think the best chinese in town. Good selection of food able and willing to leave things out of a meal if you don't like them, speady service

It was nice but day after all of us who ate the food was literally sick and we are all still quite ill from it and it cannot be a cowincidence and after 4 days I’m still recovering in my birthday

Really gone downhill recently. Ordered chow mein and special fried rice, both arrived barely warm. Not much chicken in chow mein and what there was was reformed. Portions a lot smaller than they used to be. Special fried rice covered on top with huge dollop of gravy and only two anemic, plastic looking prawns. Will go elsewhere in future.

Been a while since I used this Chinese but the food was greasy and the chicken looked decidedly reformed and tasted none too clever. Might have been a one off but not impressed

Best Chinese takeout out of many in this town tried think they do 4 for £13 different meals they give you quite a lot too really tasty can take 60 mins too deliver but they are worth the wait.menu is also available online

Solía llevar fantástica pero ido cuesta abajo recientemente, entrega de comida fría, lento, cuando llegó. Pollo chow mein sabía muy dulce y extraña, era incomible. Gran bolsa de pan de gambas, de suerte si hay 10 en el ahora, no nuevo en una prisa?

As a local customer, I usually go in to order and collect my takeaway. Quality 4/5. Quantity 4/5. Seating 4/5. Price 4/5. Prep speed 5/5. Delivery only local. Chippy next door is pretty good too!

Have been using this take-away for about two years now, we visit 6 to 10 times per year and have yet to have any negative experience. The food is always piping hot and delicious. Well worth going out of your way for and trying

always use this Chinese when we visit Cleethorpes we have a meal for four delivered great value for money with good size portions would highly recommend

Recuerdo haber ido a la ciudad Dorada hace 5 o 6 años y estar terriblemente decepcionado, pero después de una reciente recomendación, y mi anterior favorito chino están cerrados por una quincena (de nuevo) me decidí a riesgo, y me alegro de haberlo hecho.

Este es uno de los mejor tomar chino siempre en Grimsby. Muy buenas raciones de buen tamaño, un montón de papas fritas y galletas gratuitos de gambas.

He leído las críticas de este lugar antes de comer aquí y me llevé una oportunidad debido a las malas críticas! Pero gracias a Dios no, gran relación calidad-precio y muy sabrosa comida! Sé comida china y fue tan bueno como cualquiera, con un gran servicio de entrega demasiado, la comida era muy buena y caliente. No tengas miedo de las 4 comidas por 11 libras eran increíbles! Ojalá nos trajeron a Lincoln viviría en ellos! Prueba antes del juicio es pasado estaba más que satisfecho : -)

I wouldnt even give it to my dog food is cold and when i rang to complain i was told it i carnt do anything about it your food was delivered in the time slot given when i explained i wasnt complaining about the delivery i was complaining about the food being cold and still i was told there was nothing they can do to which i replied then i will be ringing trading standards monday morning there reply was thank you good bye and put the phone down on me i wont even give it 1 star will not be ordering from there wver again

This is our favourite chinese in Grimsby. We use this takeaway every week and are never disappointed.Only problem is at busy times if you want a delivery as you may wait for over an hour.

Wouldn't even give this chinese a 1star as the service is appalling the woman on the counter has the worst attitude ever, spoke to the manager who was not much better after waiting 2hours for food after being told about 1 hour wait, food finally came cold. Extremely disappointed as have been ordering from there for a while so wouldn't of expected that, they have now lost a customer.

Went in here rather than my usual takeaway - must admit I wont be going again.Ordered at the counter and told it would be 15mins. 45 mins later it finally arrived.Got it home and it was barely warm.The sweet & sour chicken was the worst I have had. Took one bite and spat it out.The chicken was dark brown, rubbery and didn't taste like chicken.The portion of mushrooms was buried in a pile of almost black rubbery substance.Never again!

Ordered a takeaway from this Chinese, when the food finally arrived it was lukewarm and one of the orders was completely wrong. We rang back to request the correct dish could be sent. First of all we were told by the extremely unpleasant and rude counter assistant that the dish we had received was correct - we explained that it definitely wasn't as the dish we ordered was for a vegetarian and the dish we received was full of meat - small point but not really one to be overlooked! She then begrudgingly said they would send the correct dish but that we would have to wait 40 minutes. Understandably we were a tad annoyed to have to wait as it was their error and told them as much. She told us that this was policy and 'that's the way it is'. After a few more comments back and forth we kindly told her to stuff her food as we'd rather go hungry than deal with her bad attitude any longer. Worst Chinese counter assistant ever.

My regular Chinese was closed being a Monday evening so opted to give this one a try. I bid a cheery hello to the (English) counter assistant & was met with a glare. Ordered my meal (sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong style with boiled rice) & sat down to wait. In the meantime, the counter assistant resumed her conversation with an obviously regular customer. Language not the best for delicate ears....Other customers arrived including someone who had obviously phoned in advance to ensure their meal was ready for them. They were told "It's not quite ready". Some 30 minutes later, my meal was finally brought to the counter but the phone order customer was still waiting....The rice was fine. The sweet & sour chicken was overburdened with tomatoes, pineapple, onions & peppers & a gloopy sauce. Precious little chicken and not especially tasty.I'd recommend you avoid unless you're desperate for a Chinese & your regular place is closed....
