Golden Century in Elmbridge

I usually go to the same fish and chip shop every time. However, I was delighted after deciding to go to this one instead. The staff were very friendly, the food was great, portion sizes were great (a large chips can easily serve 2 or 3 people) and, contrary to older reviews, they take card payments. This might become my go-to fish and chip shop from now on!

Best fish and chips in elmbridge. Until today. Large cod was very small double fried in batter to make it look large. Plenty of chips though. Try another shop next time

Perfect local fish and chip shop - lovely food (including a great curry sauce), good potion sizes, not overly cheap but what F&C are now a days. Overall couldn't recommend it any more

A lovely first visit to a classic chippy. The food was fresh and the lady behind the counter was delightful. Saveloy sausages are quite small but overall a good experience. Thanks!

Don't accept cards, cash and cheque only for some reason

This place only accepts cash, which can be a pain. Its in desperate need of an update. The food was OK, much better on offer at other local chippy's

I live locally have done for 25+ years still use this as the go to fish and chips

Didn't see any menu pics or reviews with prices so leaving some here. Fish £7-8.40 , chips £2.50-3.50 , burger £3.20, pie £3.50.

Proper chippy with top quality food

Great chips. Burger and battered sausage okay. Fish was tasty and not too heavy on the batter. Loses a star as they don’t take card which is a bit annoying.

Excellent large Haddock, large Cod & large chips were excellent. Good portion sizes too 👍

Food was ok. The prices were the same as other local shops, but the food did not measure up to some other local shops

My favourite fish and chip shop. Fresh fish, fabulous chips, superb sausages, beautiful burgers and champion chicken. But make sure you take cash, you can't pay by card here (at least not at the time of writing this) Oh, and their large portion of chips is Large... Mmmmmm

Best chippy in the area. Cod & chips never disappoint. Just make sure to bring your appetite - portions are huge.

Tried for the very first time having lived in Hersham for the last 6 years, and Golden Century, does have great Crispy cod and chunky chips. Their portions are big, the large is enough to feed 2. Will be revisiting.

Got cooked potatoes not chips. And it qa not even like we were 1st to be served, customers were already cueing. There was once a case we got uncooked fish. Anyway, we have the chips in the oven now, but we will not go back.

Covid screens everywhere and then they defeat the purpose and want Covid cash. Who carrys cash unless you're going to a Covid chippie? Anyways great chips and portions at peak time. Although generous with fish it lacks quality. So stick to the chips and get your fish from Fridayz :)

Used this for years and then moved to Halfway and tried Friday'z but now go back to the "Century" as the food and service is better.

Great service- with a smile! Huge portions - I was advised 3 large fish and chips for our hungry family of 4 and we were all very well fed. Very fresh and great value. Would definitely come back if not so far from our home in Australia. Thank you - the kids will remember your warm hospitality too!

Great local Fish and Chip place

I've lived in Hersham for well over a year, and noticed this place is always busy! I just assumed Fridayz in Walton was the best place for Fish n Chips, but was glad I finally tried Golden Century as their chips were much better!! Chips are not overly thick and more authentic tasting. Fish was on the smaller side for a large, and batter a little thick, but I never eat much of the batter anyway, so not bothered by that. Overall, I would highly recommend Golden Century , reminded me of how fish and chips used to taste growing up in the 90's! Glad to have found a good chippy in the area!

Doesn’t look much from the outside but I’ve always found the food to be very nice. The oil is changed on a regular basis, the fish is always cooked fresh and the portion sizes are decent.

Whilst cooking, serving and wrapping my food the lady persisted to stuff her face with food. What really knocked me sick was the fact that she was eating over my food with her mouth wide open while talking to her colleague at the same time. She didn't even ask if I wanted salt and vinegar. When I asked if she could unwrap the food to put salt and vinegar on, she then poured vinegar all over the fish rather than the chips. I had to ask that she didn't do the same with the salt. Fish and chips were average at best but too soggy for me. I have used this fish and chip shop since I was a child but this experience has put me off completely.

What has happened to our fish and chip shop? First time ever fish over cooked and lo and behold so were the chips. All these years time to move on. Shame KP.

Always good large cod is huge and tasty

I've been going here since I was a teenager and they are so welcoming and always happy to see them great couple that owns it and there food is the best fish and chips by far. Very good portions. You just have to get a normal portion to feed 2 and the curry sauce is the best because no where I've been has beaten it.

Don't be fooled by it's dated (slightly dirty) exterior. Chips are amazing here and quality of food is generally really good. If this place redecorated to a more traditional seaside-style Fish and Chips shop instead of a cheap takeaway it would make a fortune.

We had a fish and chip night at whiteley. We had pre ordered. The order was right and perfect. The chips and fish were put in cardboard box. It was warm and perfect amount. Definately use them again
