Golden Bee in Islington

Hey we cane for an event and we got the shisha… Victor was extremely accommodating and kind and honest! Rare to find in this kind of person but initially we wasn’t 100% happy with the shisha and Victor ensured he rectified the situation everytime. I would recommend getting the shisha for an hour.

0/10 horrible staff they were so rude and thought there were amazing when they were ugly and horrible and rude! Would not reccomend - gave us wristbands but what’s the point if they’re gonna be rude. Entitled idiots!

Security staff are horrible. Female security staff accused us of being drunk (when we were just happy) at the door and threatened to be kicked out even before entry. However happy to let us in and accept our money. Only went in for one drink as friend had already paid £50 entry for 5 friends. Was warned on way up to leave by some people leaving. Bar terrace… cheap. Everyone looked pissed off, with multiple security constantly looking at you up and down. Feel as though the security’s goal is to ensure you pay and then leave, from feeling intimated or ruining the vibe.

Discovered this rooftop bar as it features on a lot of articles when you search for rooftop bars in London/shoreditch - there are nicer ones in the area. The drinks were nice but the rooftop is a bit disappointing like other reviews have said - no real views, and the decor cheap. They had a happy hour on which meant drinks were reasonable. I was charged the wrong amount (double what it should have been) and had to go back to the bar, this was corrected when queried. Arrived pretty much as it was opening, can’t say I have ever been given a wristband to enter a bar at 5pm so that was a strange one for me!

This is definitely one of the better brunches I’ve been too! Our server Aaron was full of personality and so quick to top up our drinks. We never had an empty glass. The girl too (sorry we never got your name). The food was actually so nice and flavourful. All the staff we encountered had good vibes. Thank you to the whole security team who I feel never get a mention but we’re professional and friendly when needed. Would 100% recommend this venue. Thank you we had a great time 🙏 ps the DJ dre was 10/10

Can't see anything from the roof terrace. They big up the fact it's a rooftop bar but... It's a view of a road from a 3rd story building. Music is awful too.

We hired the entire site for an office summer party, and we were not disappointed! The process was pretty much hitch-free, with the events planner making themselves available for all our questions. The location itself is very nice, very cool with a great vibe throughout. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, with a great number of food options available. I would recommend this venue for anyone that wants a great time of a really nice events space

Oh my goodness, let me tell you about the time we went to The Golden Bee with our friends! It was an absolute blast! We had the time of our lives, sipping on the most incredible cocktails ever created by the one and only Sabi! That person is a true mixology genius, I tell you. Not only were the cocktails out of this world, but Sabi's service was top-notch. They were so attentive and charismatic, making our night even more memorable. We couldn't stop raving about it! Honestly, it was the best night ever, and we're already planning our next visit. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on The Golden Bee and Sabi's magic mixology skills!

Great party last night however it ended a bit earlier that expected! Amazing staff especially Sabi (the funny guy) who looked after us!

We held our company (staff and clients) Summer party here on 29th June. The team that I dealt with to organise the event were brilliant, great communication, helpful, friendly and professional, thank you! All guests had a great evening, the staff couldn’t do enough and went above and beyond, service was great and so was the food (catered for by The Roast of Sherwood – Thank you Lee) The perfect venue to hold any party. Thank you to you all! :) I would highly recommend and definitely will be booking with you again in the future!

If I could give zero stars i would!!!! Terrible door staff, cleaning staff, bar staff!!! Miserable, intimidating, vile!!! Wouldn’t hurt anyone to crack a smile!!! The event I went to was amazing! Good vibes all night, no trouble at all, until right at the end when I witnessed the security man handling one of the event promotors!!!!! The poor guy was so shocked at the way they had handled him, he didn’t even retaliate! I will NEVER go back there and il make sure no one else does either!!!!!! Terrible attitudes!!!!!!! Sort yourselves out!!

If your reading these reviews and you feel like you wanna try it because surely its cant be that bad.. DONT DOO THAT! The bad reviews are so TRUE, the door staff are vile, they take your money and do not let you in the club! not only that your abused by the door staff. DO not waste your money!

We travelled from Northampton for a 30th birthday booked a table and paid a deposit and we had read the terms and conditions which states our table will be held for 30 mins after booking time . We booked 12 pm and arrived 12 31 and was told straight away we was not aloud in without knowing we booked and then when we told them we had booked a table for 12 they said our table was gone . The white security guard was so rude . Was such a shame rude our night. I would not bother anyone going to this place wasting your time and to spoken rudely my a middle aged man who clearly has little man syndrome and likes picking on women . The worst part was we left and then they let 4 people in after us . !!! No excuse for this at all .

Lovely cocktail bar ruined by the security staff. The woman security guard is so rude! Falsely accused of being drunk because I stepped back at the bar! Does not know how to talk to people and really ruined my friend’s bday night! I tried helping a girl that fell down the stairs to check she was okay and instead of checking the girl was okay she was told to leave! Review your security staff!! Won’t be visiting again!

After a rock gig a friend of mine suggested going to the Golden Bee as it had a roof terrace and was easier to speak and I had no idea it was even there, even though I had passed it many times If you think of the TV series Dr Who and the Tardis = a bit like that, its much bigger when you get inside Davide the guy that runs the roof top cocktail bar was very welcoming and although I normally just get a beer, he suggested (not pushy) ‘how about a cocktail’? He does brilliant cocktails and I wouldn’t say I drunk through the entire menu, but quite a few different ones When the rooftop closed we moved downstairs and there is a club with excellent DJ’s and also I am a smoker (bad habit) but without a doubt Golden Bee have the BEST smokers lounge in London, in fact half the people in there were not even smoking, but because its quiet and relaxing they could talk to their friends Final point – I noticed security were very professional and spaced out with decent communication NOT just a couple of big guys at the door I will definitely go back again with a few friends who I have already recommended to the place

Great place for afternoon drinks and some terrace sun. Mixologist Jazmina was very accommodating, friendly with a great knowledge of spirits and cocktails. She made me feel like VIP. Definitely coming back for more.

Saw this place on the list of “best terrace bars”, photos and reviews made us (2 couples) come here. £10 pp for entrance on Saturday at 5pm. Oh I wish we would take a quick look inside before we paid. Exterior.. Usual entrance with bodyguards...

I been so many time to this amazing place, good view and very special vibes. Great drinks making to an awesome bartender I think his name is Davide!! Very friendly and so professional!! I will come back for sure!!!

Went for 'Brunch' and there was no food, only drinks. We sat next to the bar, but you're not allowed to go up to the bar due to COVID, so had to order through app, but everytime you wanted to order a drink it was £3.20 service charge, even though we were sat NEXT to the bar. And it was £3.20 every time you wanted a drink.The toilets are mixed, and very open which I didn't like. And they had a security guard standing in there the whole time which made me feel even more uneasy.

Fui a Golden Bee el sábado por la noche, su primera apertura desde el cierre. El techo solo estaba abierto, pero todas las medidas de ppe estaban en su lugar y me sentí muy seguro. No estaba tan ocupado como de costumbre debido a las restricciones. El personal de la puerta era muy agradable y no tuvimos ningún problema. Quizás la seguridad de la puerta haya cambiado debido a las críticas anteriores que he visto. Tienen una gran pared de características nuevas con el neón Bee Happy y todos hicimos nuestras fotos antes de entrar al techo. Pruebe este pequeño nicho, ya que es un lugar fabuloso con excelentes cócteles. Muy recomendable.

Solo quiero agradecer a Golden Bee por brindarnos una gran experiencia este sábado, el lugar es exuberante y el servicio al cliente fue perfecto. Más tarde en la noche tocaron un poco de RNB, que fue una música increíble y genial toda la noche. Los gorilas eran tan amables que incluso bailaron un poco con nosotros.Un agradecimiento especial a Paige, que siempre estuvo cerca para asegurarse de que tuviéramos el mejor momento. Second visit here and again was an entertaining evening. Wide range of beer and an assortment of music. Party time with lots of Christmas tunes as well. Food provided for our event was of excellent quality.

The behaviour of your bouncers last night was disgusting, how they treated a group of people who were out on a couples night out. To be punched and kicked in an unprovoked attack by your bouncers. Not just men being hurt but woman too, waking up this morning to cuts and bruises all over their faces. You should be ashamed to call yourself a business who lets customers get beaten up for no reason. Bouncers should be there to protect you but instead they are the ones hurting people. Makes me sick, hope you get shut up for the abuse you have put on people.

Terrible place where the bouncers physically abuse customers whether there male or female for no reason! It’s as if they get a kick out of it. Holding back my friend whilst the other punches him in the face. They also do this outside of the premises so it’s not caught on camera! Men handling girls by the neck! Awful

We booked a table for a birthday party. Later on, I went outside to say goodbye to my friend leaving. The bouncers would not let me re enter as this apparently was policy. However, no one told me this when I stepped outside. If so we would have said goodbye in the hallway. I was left outside for 40 min, with the bouncers laughing at me, until finally my boyfriend came to look for me. Then we left. Shame to end a birthday party like that.

Came here on Saturday for my friends birthday. She made a reservation on the roof top bar. Night was okay and then all of a sudden several bouncers came over stating one of our party had fell asleep and if he does it again then they will kick us out. Fair enough so we carried on with our night. The guy they were talking about didn’t fall asleep again he was chatting to his friend and then five minutes later they decided to kick us out anyway. No explanation. Ruined the entire birthday. I could understand if anyone caused trouble or fell asleep again but it was random. Disgusted by the behaviour of the bouncers and looking at other reviews seems they have a lot of issues regarding who they have working for them. Seems as if we spent a lot of money at the bar for a few hours and they just took our money and kicked us out before we could even go downstairs. One of the bouncers was apparently called “wolf”. Atmosphere was rowdy in the bar too coming from other parties. Maybe they should have focused their attention there.

I visited Golden bee last Saturday (2nd November) and had a good time, enjoyed the music and there was a good vibe. Unfortunately there was a female bouncer (European, brown hair) that was extremely rude for no good reason. She was standing by the rooftop stairs not letting people up due to it being so busy up there (so she said). This would have been fair enough but she was unnecessarily rude to everyone waiting! She started off by saying no one was allowed up with no explanation, when my partner asked why this was she started asking why he would ask this and didn’t like that he asked at all! (Does she not know how customer service works?)We decided to let her be and continued to wait. I then noticed that she was letting lots of people up the stairs so I asked her (politely) if there was any reason why certain people were allowed up and we weren’t, and this is when she flipped! She started shouting at me saying “Are you telling me how to do my job” and “why do you think you can question me”!! I couldn’t believe it!! I asked her to calm down and she still carried on even when I stopped talking. If I’m honest, if I wasn’t here for a friends birthday I would have gone somewhere else. I also noticed her being just as rude to other people, so it wasn’t just me and my partnerAppalled that someone like this has a customer facing job - this woman definitely needs an office job!

Personal agradable y acogedor, Golden Bee es el cóctel favorito a la orden, no se dio cuenta de que tenía que reservar para ir a la zona de la azotea, pero afortunadamente nos llamaron y nos permitieron subir para hacer que mi cumpleaños fuera aún mejor (no sabían es mi cumpleaños) espero que no se metan en problemas por hacer esto, muchas gracias, ¡volveremos pronto y reservaremos arriba!

Acabo de celebrar el 30 cumpleaños de un amigo en Golden Bee. He estado antes y me pareció muy divertido, y fue anoche, pero fue la actitud habitual de los camareros en Londres lo que lamentablemente no permite que este bar tenga las mejores calificaciones. Mi novio ordenó bebidas toda la noche y me dieron vodka y limonadas individuales. Luego subimos otra vez y el barman asumió que quería un doble y cuando dijimos que no queríamos un sencillo, procedió a ser arrogante y grosero con nosotros diciendo "hay un cartel allí que dice esto". No quiero ser gracioso, pero no noté ningún signo e incluso cuando él lo señaló, tendrías que estar cerca para leerlo. No me importa en qué lugar se encuentre, el servicio al cliente siempre es importante y no se le debe permitir hablar con los clientes de la manera en que lo hizo, lo que nos hace sentir mal por no notar una señal. Al final del día, es un esquema de hacer dinero. Debes preguntar si alguien quiere un sencillo o doble. No solo asuma que quieren un doble a menos que mencionen lo contrario. Cuando dijimos que solo queríamos una sola, no nos daría otra bebida y nos hizo pagar por ella. Realmente no aprecio actitudes como esta en absoluto. Solo discúlpate y di oh, lo siento, déjame traerte otro trago. ¡Somos los que pagamos por ello después de todo!

The manager was so arrogant, distant and disrespectful towards me that I left the local and I will never trust in that franchise again. Cant say much about the food or drinks, couldnt even order.

Had a great time! After reading a lot of negative reviews had been worried it might not be a good place for birthday celebrations but all the staff were very helpful, even when we turned up an hour late for our booking they still let us in and the bar staff helped us with our reservation. Roof top was lovely, drinks great and not too crowded. Would definitely go back, ignore the negative reviews!

Very confused. Went to Golden bee with 2 of my friends- rooftop was full so we were on the floor just below. We all found that everytime we’d go and order our drinks, the barman would face the card machine away from our faces, really high up so we couldn’t see what price he was charging us. This happened 4 times before I asked him to show me how much I’m paying. The screen showed £10 and my drink was £11. Principle is a well known bar shouldn’t be conning their customers like this, it’s truly disgusting and I’m confident this is what he was doing- not sure why as the extra money would be going to the bar, not him.. unless the bar are asking their staff to take advantage of drunk people? (I wasn’t- it was about 8pm on Saturday)

Tries to be a bar where people go to be “seen” but is actually cheaply finished and very grimy. Rude members of staff. Worst gin and tonic I have ever had and severely overpriced.

Came here yesterday evening for birthday drinks and had booked a table for 20 - the process is super easy. Ambience is amazing as always, with staff being really friendly and kind (that's primarily my reason for writing the review as I don't understand the negativity towards the staff). At one point I thought i lost my phone and the bouncer literally turned the place upside down just to help me! All the bar staff were hilarious and lots of fun. Overall a great night, we felt so welcomed and can easily say it's the best rooftop bar in London after having been to quite a few!

Cocktails are pretty tasty for 10 quid, vibes are great on the rooftop. Staff are quick to make drinks and quite efficient.

We visited the bar in person to reserve a table and sushi dinner for a special birthday. We were told to make the reservation online so we followed the procedure and booked online. On the day, an hour after we arrived, we were rudely told that we didn’t pay for the order in advance (even though they confirmed the dinner via email in the reservation confirmation and failed to mention that we needed to prepay to have dinner). After already waiting an hour (and getting hungrier as it was after work dinner) we went to the bar to try and pay for dinner and once again, they refused to let us pay. The manager was very unapologetic and did not kindly help us to make alternatives, so finally we ended up ordering from Deliveroo!! Which Is obviously ridiculous!. It’s a nice venue, but the manager treated us in a rude, unhelpful and unprofessional manner, he made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. We will never come back

I soooo recommend going to Golden Bee i have been quite a few times and have never had any problems there, it has the most beautiful rooftop bar designed with fairy lights and a fire pit too cute.. i have read in some peoples reviews that the staff were not nice and i find that hard to believe as the staff were really lovely and friendly and the doormen were hot! This is a really nice place to go especially in the summer, theres a great atmosphere and good music i really enjoy going here and highly recommend!

I highly recommend going to golden bee if you are in the shoreditch area. The staff are amazing and the atmosphere is great! They play a variety of music so it is for everyone to enjoy. I will definitely be back, especially in the summer as they have a fantastic roof top!

ove love love Golden Bee! I’ve been a few times and has been amazing every time. Been with family, friends and boyfriend - always have the best day/night! Can’t fault the staff, the atmosphere or the views! The staff have always been welcoming and made me feel so comfortable. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for somewhere fun to go, also suitable for all weathers - unreal in the sun and when it’s colder they have heaters, fire pits and blankets. Definitely worth a visit.

ALL STAFF WERE RUDE AND AGGRESSIVE. Went here with on Saturday night for a friends birthday and from the minute we walked in we were gob smacked at how any place would have such vile people working there. The girl on the door was a nasty vile bully, sniggering at every girl in our group as soon as we turned up, making several nasty comments about some of our outfits etc. Once we made it past the vile mouthed girl on the door, we got to the bar to be greeted by yet another disgustingly rude human! After getting a drink we made our way upstairs, it was packed you couldn’t even move, we were trying to push past the hundreds of people so we weren’t blocking the stairs, but it was proving impossible. At this point we were told by one of the bouncers to get the f*** out of the way, and if we didn’t move out the way of the stairs he would “make us move himself”. Every single member of staff in the bar that night were a bully, the two bouncers on the door being the worst. 30 minutes into our night, there was a big misunderstanding, were the bouncers claimed that a member of our group caused damage to the toilet door, (it being a complete accident, the door was slammed too hard and they claimed it damaged it) I checked the door, along with several other people who all confirmed there was in fact no damage to the door. However the bouncers being the vile people they are, didn’t want to reason with anyone, 3 of them came and aggressively dragged a guy from my group out of the toilet, flinging him down the stairs (he was not resisting and was completely cooperating with them forcing him to leave the bar) they continued to grab him up, and slung him out the front. I followed my friend and tried to reason with the bouncers, I asked if they could please prove any damage to the door as we couldn’t see any, I begged for them to let us back in so we could enjoy our friends birthday, I offered to pay for any apparent damage, and me being a 5ft 3 female was told to f*** off and was aggressively shoved away by one of the bouncers who clearly thought he was the most important person on earth.

There are many rooftop bars in London, however, I have found this one to be the best.

Attended here Saturday for my birthday. I reserved an area upstairs as quite a few friends smoke so this is ideal as they can smoke at the table while drinking.

The most adorable entrance I’ve recieved in a long time. What a lovely person ♥️. She was so welcoming and correct with everything she did. She has made me want to come back to this rooftop and I will welcome it to more people.

La semana pasada tuve una agradable velada con amigos en este bar cuando vi a un grupo de personas siendo hombres manejados tan violentamente por uno de los guardias, ¡no solo niños sino también mujeres! Fue absolutamente increíble de ver y me ha quitado la oportunidad de volver aquí. Definitivamente, investigaré los lugares más a fondo la próxima vez, ya que parece que es algo común y realmente arruinó mi velada.

Had the best night here. Roof top is beautiful, drinks fairly priced for London, bar staff polite, clean and tidy for bar/club and no riff raff. Great night out all round

I was there with my work mates and one of the bouncer slap my mate rudely in his head for throwing Cushing and when I asked him why he slapped him, three of them jumped on me and gave me headlock, wrestled me to floor and dragged me out only because I stood up and asked why he slapped him.

This venue over numerous floor is great for a social event. The open air top floor is great. The only problem was everyone migrated to top floor and made it quite packed. This prevented dancing and unfortunately it rained so then everyone cramped into the covered area.

I came to the Golden Bee with friends. The main selling point of the venue is the large covered and heated roof terrace, which is still enjoyable in winter. If you want somewhere to dance, the lower floor has a dance area and DJ.
