Golden Bamboo in Birmingham

Been to this takeaway lots of times and was always ok but with new owners the food is not good over cooked chicken balls like they were fried twice not fresh will not be going again. Sorry to say

The food here has gone absolutely vile since it's been sold to the new owners disgusting and I've been coming here since I was a little girl always great food my favourite Chinese, well I'll never eat from here again and that's a promise so very disappointing!!! And I wouldn't have even given this 1 star but it wouldn't let me post without the star.

I have used this takeaway for ever..Best Chinese by far although the curry sauce has gone a bit watery. But won't use anywhere else.

I’ve had take out food from here 3 times now. I can honestly say the BEST curry I’ve EVER had . Also very generous portions.One very happy customer.

The staff are always polite and super helpful. I've had a few issues with items not being delivered together with my order, that being said, they rectified the issues straight away, each time.

No idea if this is under new management but during the 70s & onwards their food was terrific, last night I bought a special curry extra hot, & the beef was cold & very tough, the whole curry flavour was different, sorry to say I won't be buying from here again.

Top Quality Food, delicious as always

No manners from staff to start with also first time ordering and for£30 worth of food the portions are diabolical. Cannot believe that I received 9 small pieces of chicken in the £6.20 portion of sweet and sour chicken Cantonese style. It was shocking that they filled the container with onions, peppers and juice with maybe two pieces of pineapple if lucky. It was like looking at onion City in my plate. I’m so disappointed and will never purchase food from Golden Bamboo again. I’ve had way way better portions from elsewhere. No value for money here. I don’t recommend buying food from here and they are heavily overpriced!

Very bad manners from staff and pay up front so you have way of getting refunded so they laugh and us we left food and I believe who ever goes in will get the scraps of the left over foods I dint like the way we all were treated by the big man his attitude was disgraceful my freind had words with the big man but he just laughed at us when we said we want refunded it look like the food was re cooked was not fresh

Poor. Prawn toast was tasteless and hard. Chicken in chicken curry was overcooked and hard. Noodles were pretty poor. To be honest,really disappointing and won't bother again. Finito.

Been going to the Golden Bamboo for years and I cannot fault it. The staff are friendly and helpful. The food is of high standard and very prompt service. I would not go anywhere else. They even cater for vegetarians. Can highly recommend sweet and sour mushrooms (Cantonese style) and the tofu curry. Perfect👍

Wow wow wow best by far, I've had many Chinese food through out my time in life. But this has got to be the best so far. This golden Bamboo will always be my first choice. Full of flavour came fast and food was hot, and the person that took my order was very well spoken. Thank you to all your staff. We will definitely be ordering again from you.

Well what can a say 5 🌟 expected. This is the only resturant that has kept traditional large foil cartens. (NOT THE PLASTIC HALF SIZE) Always massive portions great delivery and always hot. All cartons are Environmentaly freindly easy ♻️ for the Environment. Always arrives 🔥 and ready as if straight from the WOK. Give this takeaway a try you wont be disappointed.

Best Chinese takeaway in the area!

I have tried so many local Chinese restaurants and have finally found one I love!! Now I can never go anywhere else, highly recommended!

My partner got us food from here last night I can honestly say never again. I tried some beef in the curry or so called beef tasted like rubber and had a tangy taste and the look of the mushrooms was definitely on the turn, mine went in the bin my partner gave the rinsed if beef to the dog bad move!! He started letting off bad wind within 5 min of consuming it. The pungent aroma that was coming off him was a dead never to go here again .

My first visit. Typical Chinese Takeaway. The chap taking orders was friendly & helpful. Apparently they've been there many years. The establishment was clean & the kitchen partly visible, the prices average for the area with a large choice & variety of dishes. When I got to try the food it was nicely cooked & tasty - will go again. Thanks.

Recientemente nos hemos acercado mucho al Golden Bamboo y aunque somos muy leales a nuestros antiguos chinos, pensamos que lo intentaríamos por primera vez. ¡GRAN ERROR! ! ! ! En primer lugar, mi compañero ni siquiera fue reconocido mientras caminaba por la puerta para recoger. Luego, cuando lo conseguimos en casa, abrimos nuestro pollo agridulce para encontrarlo a MITAD completo (ver fotos). Les llamé y obtuve una persona muy grosera, sarcástica y condescendiente. Intentó echarle la culpa al hecho de que no pedimos cebollas (debido a una alergia) en lugar de sugerir que regresáramos con la comida, que es lo que esperaría de un establecimiento para llevar. No hubo ningún intento de rectificar el problema. Simplemente "no es mi culpa que no estés contento" Luego me colgó el teléfono mientras estaba conversando. Para agregar a esto, lo agridulce fue diluido, con alto contenido de vinagre y sin pollo. Es seguro decir que NUNCA volveremos a usar este lugar, y también sugeriríamos a todos nuestros nuevos vecinos que pronto se mudarán, ¡ir a otra parte! ! ! !

My father has been using this establishment since the day it first opened, it was our family tradition to have a Chinese once a week, which I too have followed with my own children using the same restuarant. Food has always been top quality and reasonably priced. I would like to thank the family for many years of their service.

Tasty food - Most Defiantly Not. Chicken very dry - almost like being re-heated. Very salty rice. The only good thing was it was delivered on time. Terrible & waste of money.

Really good local Chinese, always get delivery. Special chowmein has so much meat! The crisply aromatic duck is a winner and was just pleasantly surprised by the chicken sweet and sour, lots of chicken supplied separately. Parents were impressed too.

I thought I would give it the benefit of the doubt and it was awful.

Easily the best in the area. Had Crispy Shredded Beef, Pork Chow Mien. Both really tasty and full of flavour. The curry source was amazing also!

Ordered sweet and sour crispy beef, bbq ribs, house special fried rice, mixed meats with cashew nuts and crab stuffed duck. We enjoyed the food as it was not too heavily sweet/salty or greasy. It's better than our locals and we will visit again :)

Terrible food, would not return.

Use to order it before. Thought lets give it a go. But we were dissapointed. Would not order again. Good parking.

The taste of food fluctuates, some days delicious some other days not so good. Very friendly and professional staff. The waiting time is okay. There's delivery service for an added fee.

Durante 40 años he vivido cerca del golden bamboo y ha sido siempre para mí la mejor comida para llevar china en Birmingham. Me mudé lejos durante los últimos 14 años y fue de paso y cayeron. Fue genial ver a mi viejos amigos trabajando allí con la misma cálida bienvenida a mí y a mi hermano y la misma receta. Este es el mejor de la zona, saludos chicos espero que pronto.

Después de una decepcionante llevar en términos de sabor, mi esposa pasamos la noche la sensación de enfermos. Yo también sentí la comida no me pareció bien y tuve problemas estomacales.Pedimos langostinos en salsa de frijol negro y carne crujiente triturados. Las gambas sabían como habían sido superficial y la carne estaba pasada en vez de crujientes. El huevo frito arroz era horrible.Tienen un menú variado pero no creo que podría intentarlo.

1st and last visit. Tasted horrible all of it.

Best Chinese takeaway excellent food

This is a takeaway rather than a rstaurant and I've been getting food from here for the past 25 years. I think that says it all. The special curry and fried rice is fantastic. I shall be there later this evening again. :)

Quite possibly the worst chinese i've ever had.. Over cooked Noodles, tasteless, well everything.. Added to this nothing was crispy

Just used this takeaway for the second time, after an initally good experience a few weeks back. Have to say was really disappointed and cross to receive what I can only describe as what tasted like yesterday's leftovers - congealed, rubbery, so-called 'crispy' beef, tasteless and dull-looking other dishes in gloopy sauces, including what pretended to be chicken chow mein and seschuan chicken, dodgy-smelling yuk sung, even the prawn crackers tasted stale. Just plain lazy, I know we needn't expect haute cuisine but this is just taking the **** not to mention our hard-earned cash! Rang to complain and got some kind of apology and an offer that maybe they could take some off the cost next time, but I don't think they were too bothered. Shan't be going back. Not a happy customer.
