Golden Bamboo in Stratford-on-Avon

Absolutely shocking food. Texture of food was undercooked and therefore I wouldnt eat. Will never be ordering from here again.

Not happy with my partners meal- she had Lemon Chicken which was probably reheated and it was like cardboard and very dry.

Very tasty food. Always pleased and happy with our orders. Quick service. Friendly staff. We always return.

Fantastic, food was very yummy brilliant service even though they were very busy. Got my food on time. 👍 Just need to change the air filter in the Fishtank as the fish were not really alive because of lack of oxygen. 🐠

Made a phone order to the takeaway, it was close to their closing time so asked if it was feasible for an order to be ready for collection. Was told yes. I arrived at 2 minutes past closing time, door still open lights still on. Male employee asked for my delivery info and went to a delivery pouch and dangled the bag in front of me and told me the price and then he said and I quote ‘you’re lucky coz we close at 10pm’. Well as I’d walked quickly in freezing conditions to meet our phone agreement, albeit I was around 90 second late, I gave him an explanation of my dissatisfaction, the finger and walked out. I advise you all to go elsewhere for your food, because this house does not respect its clients.

Hadn’t used for a couple of Years, order cooked quickly and ready on arrival. Good value and quality but way too much MSG, otherwise 5stars it would have been.

Fast service good food friendly Yuk sung and ribs really nice and quick and hot. Clever trap door to give your food and microphone and speaker service very high tech

It's over a year since we ate here but standards are still high and our large order was completed quickly and accurately! The lemon chicken, sweet & sour king prawns, beef in black bean and Thai curry dishes (and more!) were all excellent and the only thing to improve was the egg fried rice which needed a bit more egg and seasoning. There are good Covid precautions in place and the staff are friendly so we will be happy to return.

We ordered food on NYE from here, we were thoroughly impressed. We had the beef noodles, sweet and sour chicken balls, fried rice and salt & chill prawns. The prawns were the star of the show! The chicken was a bit spongy, far too much batter.

Best Chicken and Black bean sauce in the area. This is my usual meal when I visit the takeaway. Keep it up.

Best chicken chow mein in the area, best special fried rice, quick, cheap and very easy! always get it right!

Have always enjoyed the food at this take away nothing to falt there. I go nearly every week and has always had good service with a nice girl at the front but this time I went there was some one new on the front, as soon as we walked in there I felt unwelcomed, she was talking to her friend constantly loudly and I had to wait for her to finish what she was doing on her phone till she then took my order, she then continued to be on her phone whist wrming and answering calls and talking to them, she then was turning the music up on the tv loudly and was making fun on the owner coming in and saying something and making racist actions towards the owner, was constantly complaint, and talking about going out partying and drinking. When my food came out she was making comment on the kitchen staff laughing at them and laughing at the food, I then got my food and said thank you, yes it was quiet but was still heard and when we walked out the door she made a snide comment in a very rude and horrid way “thanks you”. We walked out feeling very unwelcome and uncomfortable and for this reason will not be coming back again which is unfortunate at very nice food .

Always enjoyed the food, I visit almost every week and have been going for a while now. However there has been a new girl hired and when I went in she was playing games on her phone and answering personal phone calls, she was also mimicking the staffs accents saying what she thinks they would moan about too her, this came across as very racist. She was using the tv and talking to a girl which seemed to be her friend. I felt unwelcome as soon as I tried to order, I had to wait for her to finish playing her game until she payed attention to me. This demonstrates very poor communication skills towards customers. I said Thankyou when I received my food and when I was walking out of the door she said with a very snardy attitude ‘your welcome’ and was rude about the situation. She also laughed about the way the food was given to her and said they haven’t even given her a bag to put it in.

Went to the take away establishment to try it and will no return. I walked in and the girl on the front. She proceed to be on phone and not acknowledge me which is not professional Food was bland never again

We have never been disappointed with anything we have bought from the Golden Bamboo. They are more than happy to substitute items on the set menu. Fast service and always tasty food

Really disappointed with food we ordered in Saturday Night, tasteless, special chow mein & Chicken and Cashew nuts tasted the same, of nothing, Sweet and sour chicken balls were Fatty, real shame as previously food was good. My Wife ordered Thai Chicken dish, looked like crispy chilli chicken, will not be going back.

This take-away is much better with the new owners. I've been several times. The prawn toasts are really good. My last main meal was king prawns with bamboo shoots and water chestnuts with egg fried rice, and it was delicious. I ordered over the phone and collected it 10 minutes later and it was piping hot. I'm surprised to see some bad reviews on here.

Duck pancake roll absolutely disgusting. No filling just some bits of overcooked duck. We will never return!!

Genuinely been here many times and every time it gets worse. We only go as the other half likes their prawn dishes. So this time I opted for the Chinese chicken... Terrible mistake, was the worst dish I'd ever eaten. And I'm far from a fussy eater. Even a starving Yukon beaver would struggle to stomach these wood chips that they pass off for chicken.

We were returning home in the evening and not wanting to cook a meal decided to call in to the Bamboo for a Chinese takeaway.

Used to be terrible but under new ownership it’s great now! We get our chips from there b/c better than the chip shop across the road! Thai special fried rice is great too from there as is their crispy chilli beef.

We had stopped using this place but heard things had improved with new ownership- definitely the case. Just had a takeaway- really good- will be back

We were visiting friends in the area and ordered a meal which we all enjoyed. There is the usual choice of Chinese dishes but also some Thai curry dishes too which were good. Having a separate pot of sauce for the lemon chicken meant the breadcrumbs stayed crispy which is something I appreciate. The kung po prawns had a good level of spice and flavour but I thought the batter was too thick around the prawn. Prices are reasonable and staff were friendly when we collected (not sure if they do delivery) so we'll be back.

Good Chinese food, with a very much improved service. Perhaps the waiting area could be improved to offer a more welcoming effect.

Eat here periodically. The standard seems as a rule to be going down rather than up. Not consistent.

We were staying locally and decided to get a takeaway from here. We rang the order through and was told it would be fifteen minutes. When we arrived to pick it up it was ready for us. The lady who served us was very pleasant. The food was average but we did get large portions of the food order. Would order again as it wasn't expensive and the food was OK.

Average Chinese food, chicken curry rice box was very basic. Beef schezuan was ok nothing special, however the chicken schezuan was much better. My friends did go back on numerous occasions for the crispy duck though whilst we were working nearby..

I have purchased numerous Chinese takeaways over the years, but since it has changed hands the standard of food has slowly gone down. Recently purchased a chicken curry and a chicken and pineapple, but found it totally tasteless. The quality has now reached a point where I will not visit again.

Proberbly the worst take away We have had in years . Food was totally bland , couldn't really tell one dish from another !!! Thankfully portion sizes were very small so it did not take up much room when put into dust bin .

Had food from here for the first time in a long while and were pleasantly surprised, smaller potion sizes than Kineton, but tasty and freshly cooked, same about the prawn crackers very dry and not crispy

Decent takeaway meal tonight - good portion sizes, flavour good etc. What more could one want from a Chinese takeaway? Oh and they do fortune cookies - All Chinese takeaways should do those.

The quality of food has risen considerably since the new owners took over Now they take card payments (50p extra) - here's hoping delivery will follow soon!

They messed up the order after realizing getting home several villages over, we had to return it and had to ask for it to be remade. after waiting and having to come back i asked for a few cans of fizzy pop 3 in total as they messed up and we had to travel back etc they simply gave one and walked back into the kitchen. They didn't seem to care that much

Hace poco tuve un par de sitios desde aquí, había evitado el antiguo Golden Bamboo durante varios años. Impresionado con la calidad de la comida, mucho mejor.

Overall the food here is good but most of the dishes we choose involve fried rice. It's so disappointing, so pale, looks and tastes bland like boiled rice. Such a shame and really lets it down.

Avoid - drive to the next town takeaway, how can a poor take away change the first part of the name with "new" and expect everyone to trust a change in quality ??One to forget

Well what a fab takeaway how lucky is Wells !!! Fab food, fab taste, love it Please think about delivery! Would be happy to pay for this.

I can only say that we have had great food and friendly service every time that we have visited since the "new" Golden Bamboo opened its doors.

We usually visit paw paw but our last visit left us disappointed so we decided to try here instead.The menu is good and well priced and the man than served us was very friendly. On returning home we were pleased to see the food was all well packaged and still very hot.Everything was well cooked and tasted fresh.We've decided to keep using this takeaway now :-)

After ordering 1/4 shredded crispy duck twice I have been disgusted to find bones both times, appalled that I have had no response ☹️️ won't be eating here again!!

The food was excellent, very tasty & the portion size was just right. The staff were very friendly right from ordering to collection :)

We haven't dared go near the old Chinese takeaway for some 20 years - now at last a takeaway we can trust.With trepidation we visited the newly opened place early in 2016 and have now eaten a variety of their dishes - all of which have been great. The Spring Rolls are delicious an packed full of protein goodies as well as bean shoots of course!

Having tried two meals from the previous owners - both inedible - for 12 years we had been getting our Chinese from Tiddington, then we went to a friend's for dinner which she got from the new Golden Bamboo and were impressed enough to give it a try ourselves. We found their menu on line, phoned our order through and picked it up 20 mins later - very prompt service! The food when we got it home was absolutely piping hot and every dish was really tasty with plenty of meat or fish included. It was pretty good value for money too so we will definitely be going back.

The previous incarnation of this place produced food which was only fit to be eaten if the alternative was A)starving to death or B) eating the family pets so it was with great trepidation that we gave it a try. We were very impressed at the standard of the food and will use it again. In fairness its the not the best Chinese food but its pretty good, rather pricey compared with other local towns.

Never thought I'd visit the Chinese here again but it's good, hot, near and cheaper than Paw Paw. Will be trying more meals. Quick service as well

Got a takeaway from here at the weekend. We were a bit sceptical as we weren't keen on this Chinese but decided to give it a go as it now has new owners and we're glad we did. Lovely food and fast service. We have now found our new local takeaway.

I am pretty fussy when it comes to Chinese takeaway but the New Golden Bamboo creates just what I like. A great menu range, not bad prices and the food is delicious and light. And all within walking distance of where I live... life is good :-)

Having been told by lots of people that the golden bamboo was appalling, was pleased to find it had changed hands. Decided to give it a try and we were very happy with our food. Will definitely be using it as opposed to driving into Leamington for our Chinese takeaways.

New owners only been in a week. We'd tried a couple of times in the 5 1/2 years we've been in Wellesbourne and unfortunately been disappointed each time (to be honest a little relieved for our waistlines). We heard about the new owners and with a little trepidation tried again, what a revelation the food is greatly improved, lighter, tastier and delicious! Only downside is we have yet another top takeaway restaurant on our doorstep, watch out waistline. If you haven't tried the 'New' Golden Bamboo since 7th March 2016 I highly recommend it!

Chinese food here is ok but not brilliant. It's fine for a quick meal in the village but if it's a really decent Chinese meal you're craving then I'd look further afield. The service is good and it's reasonably priced.

We used this for a take out and it was good grub at a decent price. The curry was brill and the chow mein excellent

The man serving was friendly.The food was quite good.BUT I choked on a spiralled piece of metal (that had come from a tin opened by a tin opener) .....It lodged in my throat and I had to cough and choak it out.I survived, but it was a frightening experience and I could have died.! Scary stuff! I did not expect to have metal in my main course.

First collection was disappointing - old oil gave the fried elements of the meals a bitter taste, so much so they were left unfinished. Second try (eternal optimist) was very good - tasty chilli beef and a good duck noodle dish, wonder what visit three will bring?

Food fresh and hot but some dishes (e.g. a curry that was over-spiced and on salty side) not to my taste.Chow mein OK. Reasonable food prep time on a busy Saturday night.
