Gold Lion in Stoke-on-Trent

Used to use this place quite often couple of years ago as they were rather good. Called in and ordered a dry chicken chow mein. Got a wet one swimming in soy sauce, quality poor, I think that's possibly why they did it wet to hide the poor quality of the contents.

Awful. Even rude and don't even know anything. This should not carry on running as its poor. I will not ever order here ever again and so all my friends and family. You are very in unprofessional..!!

Been having takeaways from here for donkey's years and never had a bad meal yet. The lady that takes the orders is so nice and always helpful.The food is always nice and hot when it's delivered and the delivery guys are really nice. Can't wait for it to reopen. Thanks Goldlion keep up the good work.

We have been having food from the Gold lion for years and it is by far the best in the area in my opinion. I've come on here as its been closed for several weeks now due to the corona virus and whilst it's the right thing to do... I am missing my noodles. When all this blows over then give them a try. The delivery drivers are polite as is the lady who normally takes our food order. Stay safe and will catch you guys soon.

Phoned to order for delivery and asked about allergies as the website says to phone if you suffer from allergies, I explained that we had one person with a nut allergy and another with an egg allergy , I had the reply from a young lady that there are nuts in the noodles , I replied, confused , nuts in the noodles are sure , the answer I got was , yes everything has nuts in ! Well I politely explained to her that judging by that remark you are obviously not experienced nor qualified enough to be discussing allergies, she then said that the chef makes all the sauces him self but can not say that they do not have nuts in which I again asked to talk to someone with more experience. A male then called me back to explain that there is egg in the curry powder which I replied that is strange as I have had curry from you several times in the past , his reply was that curry powder has thousands of ingredients including dairy so it must have egg in !! Needless to say I will not be ordering from the Gold Lion ever again , this decision is not because they could not cater for the allergies but the fact that they have unskilled and unqualified staff who can not advise sensibly on this subject which concerns me as to what else is going on behind the scene!

We have tried the food a couple of times and it's appalling, undercooked onions, tough meat, and the sauces are so thick they vile. Don't waste your money, they may have a good hygiene standard but cooking ability is zero

Had from this take away for more years than I want to remember, all ways good food & good service can collect or they will deliver, if you are in Stoke and fancy a take away give them a try and make your own mind up.

Have been​ having food from here for years Don't think we have ever had a bad meal that includes the one we had a couple of weeks ago so yes I would recommend.

Good well cooked Food of all types been using for number of years. food all ways well prepared always hot and pleasant service.

We had Takeaway from here two weeks ago,it was awful. Beef was like shoe leather. Sartay chicken tasteless. The ribs nasty. Contained cartialage,covered in thick goo. We wrote to complain on 24|7. No one has had courtesy to answer that letter. So do yourself a favour,save your money. Supermarket, ding meals are a million times better than this.x I will also be reporting to trading standards. A disgrace.

I have used the gold lion takeaway several times whilst in the local area at work, the service is always fast and the food quality is excellent. The takeaway is always busy which in itself tells you how good the food is when you consider there are several chinese restaurants in the area. It is situated on trentham road (the long road connecting trentham gardens at one end and longton roundabout at the other) just above the dresden traffic lights. You can telephone an order for collection or delivery and the value is very good, give it a try!

Whenever i have chinese i go to gold lion, never anymore! Yes tge service is still spot on i will bever knock that... the food though now is a different story! Previous experience is that gold lion is the best chinese in stoke.... recentley it is getting bad. I don't know if there is new chef's or if they are getting too greedy. On recent form though i highly dis regard. Go back to previous then yes best ever. Hope they change back... until then i'm changing chinese take away
