My wife and I visited for the first time for Sunday Lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed our top quality dishes served faultlessly by well trained staff. Faced with the choice of a good selection of meats we both selected the beef which was a prime cut, excellently cooked and presented with more than ample vegetables on the side. There is also a good selection of very nice starters and desserts. Finally I am gluten intolerant and on arrival I made staff aware of this. They were not only aware but knowledgable, adjustments were made to my meal with staff quietly advising me throughout of the changes made, thank you. We will be returning.

Came here for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago now and it was delicious. The staff are extremely attentive and welcoming. The food is wonderful. The setting and the location is just so pretty. I love coming here. The only thing I would say is that their food needs to be hotter, especially the soup but staff are just charming thank you so much

My wife and I attended a wedding reception there and we stayed the night in their hotel rooms. Every thing was superb. The wedding environment was first class. The food at the reception was really good. I loved the beef. The facilities for the wedding speeches were almost great, only had a hiccup on the wandering microphone at the speeches -quickly fixed. The evening buffet was fully enjoyed. The bedroom was excellent- shame we did not have time to have bath with all its bubbles. Seriously a great place for a wedding reception.

After many delicious Sunday lunches here, Mother's Day also, being really good quality and experiences, we had visitors for Easter so took them for Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Firstly it was laid with black tablecloths, no flowers anywhere, so not looking very cheery for spring. However, I thought well they will have a lovely lunch and thats all that matters. We had our soup, delicious, waited a long time after this so then asked if possible to get main course. We were told we could go up to the carvery. However, when we got there, there was no turkey left, only end , scraps of beef and some ham. Boiled potatoes were just bits left in dish and we asked for roast potatoes and just told we do not have any!! However, people who had gone up earlier had plates piled high with potatoes, roasts, turkey. This ruined our lunch, and we had booked in advance, also embarassing for our guests as we had raved about it. We were offered desert menus after a long wait to be told the Easter one was sold out. During waiting for someone to return for the desert choices, we had the very unfortunate experience of listening to a man having a go at a member of staff, not sure if manager, stating how his large party cannot be fed, and ranting on about his time in hospitality etc.... not something we wanted to hear. Unfortunately, we are still awaiting our order to be taken, as nobody returned to take this. In the end we had enough, were charged full prices, even though we did not get the full choice of food and when I said we were disappointed for the lack of food, just told sorry about that. This experience has shocked me, and I do not understand why they had not catered for a busy Bank Holiday especially when we had pre-booked

Came here with a church group of approximately 60 people. What a great place to come, both in terms of the fabulous food and in the way the room was decorated for Christmas! The carvery was excellent, piping hot, plenty of it. Tender slices of beef and pork, roast potatoes, boiled potatoes, tasty stuffing, cauliflower cheese, sprouts, pigs in blankets, carrots, roast parsnips , Yorkshire puds, cranberry sauce. Everything cooked deliciously. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. There was absolutely nothing to dislike about this lovely place. We've booked again for next year already!!

We returned to the Glyn Clydach for a carvery for the first time since lock down. The food was delicious and real value for money. One area where the management need to focus is on training their waiting staff, all of whom were pleasant and keen but lacked experience and training. What was lacking was attention to detail, on which side to serve from, not to lean across people when serving dishes. Service seemed haphazard. This comes down to training which needs to be addressed by the management (Look on YouTube to get ideas to see how it’s done properly).

Phoned to make a booking for sunday lunch at The loft. On arrival found we found we weren't in the loft but the main hotel. One big large room with tables dotted around. There was a total lack of atmosphere in such a large room. I think the lunch itself was just ok. Seemed to have little taste but plenty of it but give me taste over quantity. But in fairness I'm not a huge carvery fan, but if they serv your starter and dessert why cant they serv your main course as well. We were being served by a lovely waitress. She even moved us to a better table as we were next to the door which was a bit drafty. Would like to thank her again.

We visited today for a carvery and were directed into the Abbey suite. It was the function room where the tables were set up - strangely we almost booked our wedding here a few eyars back but the room was too big. This worked in favour today as we gave a heads up that we had an infant and a young child in tow. There was plenty of room around our table and it didnt feel cramped at all. The starters and carvery mains were delicious. Nice choice of meats and tasty veg and gravy to go with it. I do think the staff deserve a mention as we gounf them very attentive but not too overbearing. We didn't feel rushed which is sadly too common in other establishments. All in all, a very pleasant visit and i'd have no reservations to return in the near future :)

I've always like the Glynn Clydach hotel, this was our second New Year's Eve there. Last year was great. So we booked for this year. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. We did not finish our meal until nearly 10pm. We could not eat all of our desert as they had put some mouse into shot glasses and didn't have enough spoons to eat it with. It could take upto 20 min to get served at bar. Even the serving staff were complaining about the lack of staff there.Thank goodness for the tribute singer. He was great. Don't know what went wrong with everything else, but they need to get it sorted out.

This has been the worst meal and experience in a restaurant ever. The starter was veg soup that had no taste and cold. I couldn't tell was the soup was until I asked. The main course, I had the turkey that was drier than an old.sock and the beef was tuff has old boots. The roast potatoes was have been reheated so many times that I couldn't cut them even after drowning them in cold gravy. The dessert was supposed to be cheese cake but looked and tasted like gone off mouse. Myself and my table sent back the food as it was the worst meal ever and we were still charged. The bar staff was non existence and took 35 mins to order a drink. The party of 70 all agreed that we will be going elsewhere from now on.

To be honest I have been to the Glyn Clydach a number of times for black tie events and have always had a great meal. However I attended a Christmas meal on 17/12/16 and have to say it was by far the worst meal I have ever had the misfortune of tasting. My meal consisted of the following, Veggie soup. that was very bland and hadn't been introduced to any form of seasoning. Beef or Turkey. Both were like rubber and once again very bland. The yorkshire puds were also made of shoe leather. The roast potatoes that came with the meal were in dire need of a chainsaw to cut and appeared to have been cooked, frozen, reheated a number of times before being served. The new pots were the size of the average rugby ball. The carrots however were very nice.Desserts were christmas pud that was once gain very bland, choc/orange cheese cake that looked more mile a melted mousse that turned into a puddle on the plate. or lemon tart that was actually very nice (bet it wasnt made onsite).Really the owners of the Glyn Clydach really need to sit down and try the food for themselves if they dare. and maybe consider employing somebody who knows how to cater for such large numbers.

Was here Friday night for a work event which included a 3 course meal. Being vegan I made sure the venue knew about my dietary needs well beforehand, so I was pretty disappointed that with so much notice all they could come up with for a starter and dessert was fruit, so no points at all for originality or imagination. When the main was delivered, the bowl of potatoes that I was given had a strong smell of butter, I asked the waitress whether they had butter on them and she said no, they did, they were swimming in butter. I called another waitress who confirmed that they were in butter, and she fetched me a fresh batch butter free, just as well I wasn't allergic to dairy otherwise I could have been hospitalised by an inept waitress. In summary, if you like unimaginative food great, if you have special dietary needs bad.

Service was spot on, staff were friendly and best of all looked like they were enjoying thier work (nothing worse than seeing miserable staff whilst your trying to enjoy a meal). We all opted for a two course lunch (starter/main). 2 adults had deep fried Brie which was delicious, 1 child had cream of vegetable soup which she happily mopped down with her bread roll and the other had the selection of hors d'oeuvres. I personally wasn't a fan of this and think he agreed after he went to the cold bar to get it. The dinner itself was beautiful, you could have beef, turkey, pork or a vegetarian option. Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes/parsnips and a lovely selection of vegetables all cooked beautifully.I can't comment on the desert other than how delicious they looked as we didn't opt to have one. I visited as a member of a large event, ofor a Christmas dinner, over 300 people I would estimate, and I dont feel this establishment is capable of catering for such large numbers. This is the third time I have attended this annual event, but there wont be a fourth. I have been disappointed every year, but this year...... The choices for Christmas dinner were beef or turkey or a vegetarian option. The food was at best bland and tasteless. The soup starter - I was unable to identify what soup it was, even after I'd eaten it. The turkey was very dry, it had obviously been kept warm for some considerable time. The vegetables were all frozen and watery, the carrots even had a greyish tinge to them. Christmas pudding was ok, but lacked fruit. My friends opted for beef which although quite tender had dried out on top. The cheesecake option had a layer of jelly on top (?) and a 'soggy bottom'. I've only given this 2 stars (it should really be a maximum of one star) because even though the food was dreadful, the service was excellent, swift and friendly and the food was served hot.

Had roast beef dinner... The plates were delivered to the table very hot... But the food took so long to come out that the plates turned cold when the food finally arrived??!!! The Beef was over cooked almost to the point ot looked like a sole of a shoe! I asked the waitress if I could change it but she saud it was all the same!!! Hate frozen veg.... And guess what!!! All vegetables are frozen and over cooked... The carrots were so well done they had gone almost grey! Boiled potatoes from a can-yuk, could not eat them! WHY???!!!! Cheesecake with a rubberised jelly topping!!!-disgusting! I am sorry but if I was the chef/manager I would be embarrassed to serve it let alone charge customers for it! Its not acceptable!

Have always enjoyed this venue for Sunday Lunch. Excellent carvery with good choice of starters and desserts. Disappointed on visiting this week. The served starters are now replace by a hor d'oevres selection or soup. Hor d'oevres selection was very poor and boring and having to get up and queue for both the starter and main courses made the whole event seems like a meal at a works canteen. The dessert menu has also become unimaginative over the past weeks. This is a lovely hotel and it was always a pleasure to visit please don't let standards drop like this.

A family outing to a restaurant we've used before, proved to be below par. Firstly we didn't get the table we'd originally been allocated and our meal was consequently served 30 minutes later than our time booked. I've had better carvery meals locally for less money. Couldn't recommend on today's performance.

Obviously a popular Restaurant car park pretty full. Friendly welcome & bright clean Conservatory area with great views.Friendly waiting staff quick service, Carvery was generally good slight disappointment with the veg some not as hot as it might be & no Parsely sauce for my ham! Soup starter & dessert were tasty. Staff at reception desk were rather distant when we paid for meal, not responsive! must have had a busy day & this was the first 'sitting'. Over all despite this a fair experience I'd like to try them again at a quieter time.

My wife and I visited on a Wednesday to try the carvery. The carvery was excellent and all the food was hot and tasty. You couldn't ask for more and it was very good value at £12 for two main courses.

Beautiful grounds, really friendly staff. Rooms really comfortable and clean..extremely hot but there is a fan in the wardrobe. A fun day from start to finish with a lovely meal. Only negative bar staff appeared to clear drinks on table if you are using a photo booth.

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of sharing our amazing Wedding Day with Manager Steve and his staff at The Glyn Clydach!!This fantastic venue, set in fabulous surroundings is perfect for all your wedding requirements, and Steve and his staff complete the wonderful place. We took over the whole hotel for a day or so, and were made to feel so welcome, the rooms are excellent as was the food. The grounds are exceptional, go and have a look because no photo can do them justice!Organised, proffessional planning of our day and our stay made everything run so smoothly, we can't thank all involved enough for making our day so special.Thank You xx

Thanks Steve and staff. What a great day and memories you helped make. Our son and wife had their reception and evening function here on 24 March. The Hotel may not be the easiest place to find if you're not local or familiar with the area, but there can't be many better all round venues than this. The grounds and gardens, the public rooms, the main function suite, the hotel bedrooms, and not forgetting Steve the Manager and his team of staff for whom nothing was too much trouble. They were great. Great location, great hotel, great staff, great food, great evening buffet, music and DJ = great wedding.

We recently held our wedding reception here at the Glyn Clydach on the 6th March, it was the percent venue for us being so close to home and with stunning views and gardens to have some fab wedding pics! Massive thanks to steve who made sure our day went without a hitch, the food we chose went down a treat with all our guests, massive compliments to the chef with the home made strawberry cheesecake it was so yummy! Big thanks to the dj Mike who played some great songs including requests off myself and my husband! The dance floor was never empty in the night, in fact I didn't wanna leave it cos the songs were so good! The bar staff and all the ladies who were serving were fab too. This venue is a fantastic place to hold events and with the abbey suite being so large it was perfect for all our guests, all 150 or so of them! Also a thanks to Katie & Samantha on the reception too for being so helpful especially the day before with setting up of the room! Once again thanks glyn clydach for making our wedding the best day ever! Mr & Mrs Phillips x

We ate here as a large family group on Mother's Day in the function room. We had a very good meal and all agreed that although it was very busy (the chef told us that there were more than 300 bookings over 2 sittings) , the tables had been set out with lots of room around them instead of packing extra tables in as most places do. Also although our booking was late, 2.30, and the staff must have been busy for hours, the quality of service and food were just as good as when we have eaten here before on a quiet Sunday in January.

I was part of a group who wanted to celebrate New Year’s Eve. On arrival we had a pink sparkling drink (not Champagne). Shown to our table, there were insufficient party hats and poppers. We went to inform staff that insufficient number for our party and told they had run out!!The Gala (Shambolic) Buffet was a cold buffet of duck, seafood platter, quiche tartlets, and chicken gorgons. filled tomato's, luke warm boiled potatoes, cold salmon, Lobster but all gone by time we approached buffet, told beef on table when returned. The beef was hot with stuffing balls?? and possibly brisket. The Cold buffet items didn’t complement the beef.A Waitress approached table to say there was plenty of food left if we would like to have more. This to me proves the food was unacceptable. We were told the dessert was a baked Alaska. Well we could see sparklers coming out of kitchen but by the time they reached table just a defused piece of metal sticking out of Alaska, terrible presentation. There was a joke with staff running to try and get to table before the sparkler burnt out.T attempted to eat Alaska to find ice-cream frozen. I spoke to manager who said it was ice-cream, yes but it should be edible when reaching table not having to wait 5-10 minutes for it to defrost! Then came the entertainment, Tom Jones Lookalike, He rattled off his songs like he had to go on to another venue or celebrate his own new year. He only spoke after his last song to wish us a Happy New Year, Might as well just played medley LP of Tom Jones songs. I pity the waiting staff that had to deal with customers comments.

Went for a family lunch to celebrate a Birthday. It was a very busy Sunday and the service was a bit sporadic with starters being requested without menus and then being asked a few times by different waitresses. The starters were all good and between us we tried mushrooms, soup and vegetarian tartlets. The main is a self service carvery with a choice of three meats. A really good portion of meats that were delicious and cooked really well. There was a good selection of vegetables but unfortunately they were tasteless and very salty. Only a few had dessert and my son opted for the fruit of forest cheescake when it was served it looked more like a portion of leftovers. I wanted to return it but my son didnt want to complain. It wasnt good and was not a good end to our meal - dont think I will be returning soon which is a shame as have previously had good meals here

We recently attended an Evening Wedding Reception, it was a splendid day although rain was forecast, it stayed off which allowed some of the guests enjoy the grounds of the venue. Plenty of staff around clearing empty glasses and plates etc and keeping the place clean, they were friendly and helpful. The food a buffet was excellent with plenty of choice enough to feed everyone.I'm disappointed, although visiting this place on many occasions, I know this hotel is often packed for Sunday lunches, on many occasions I am unable to get booked in as it's fully booked. I live locally and pass the Glyn regular and there's plenty of things going on but not many reviews for the amount of people that pass through the doors. If your reading this, after your visit please write a view.

We were lucky enough to choose the Glyn Clydach as the venue for our wedding and couldn't be happier. From our initial meeting to actual day, Steve, Sue and David were nothing but helpful in the extreme and made sure that everything went exactly how we wanted. Sue went over and above what any nervous bride could wish for, Steve impeccable in making sure everything went to plan and Dave ensured beer was cold!!! Truely a wonderfully relaxed and enjoyable day, with all our friends commenting the same... We can't say anything more thanks and recommend the Glyn for your special day...

Came here recently for a wedding and despite the surrounding location which was lovely I found the premises itself to be quite dated save a few parts here and there. The bar staff during the event were quite unhappy to be working and clearly weren't enjoying their job.The food was bland save the dessert which was ok. Drinks terribly overpriced and little things such as lemon in a cerveza being odd when it should be a lime and overpriced to day the least. Despite the location I cannot say I can recommend this establishment for any events knowing the service was inadequate. Hopefully one day this may change.

Went for Sunday lunch on Father's Day booked for 5 people when we turned up table was set for 4 although booking clearly said 5. They added another setting at the table which meant that we were a bit squashed. When leaving and the reception asked if everything was ok we told her about the table mix up and her response "it's because we are busy as it's Father's Day" does that mean that customer service standard slip when they are busy? Not much hope for good service in weddings then
