Glentanar Lounge Westhill in Aberdeenshire

We came for dinner on Wednesday evening. The place looked spotlessly clean. The service was first class. The food was delicious. I would recommend the fish & chips, and the wife would recommend the seabass. We will definitely come back again.

Copying my email since it never received a response: After dining at the Glentanar tonight I wanted to give some feedback, as opposed to giving a negative review. We arrived just before 1830 for a booking at 1830, and waited around 5 minutes to be seated, although the restaurant didn’t appear to be busy. Once seated, we were told somebody would be back in a couple of minutes to take a drinks order. After around 12 minutes, we searched the restaurant and were told somebody would come to see us. A few minutes later they did, and we duly ordered food and drinks. The drinks arrived quite swiftly: a while later an individual arrived with two starters. He was unable to tell us what they were, but pushed them towards us. We were able to deduct they were not for our table and told him so. Around 10 minutes later (close to 30 minutes from ordering) we caught the eye of a waitress and told her the situation- another ten minutes or so later our starters arrived (and were delicious) Through this time it was evident that there was a wedding ongoing in the venue. The staff seemed stretched, and there were a number of children running around, screaming, and playing games. At one point, some of these children climbed along the seats and under our table- obviously not ideal. Having put up with this behavior for around an hour and seeing our tray of drinks nearly be wiped out by running children, my husband approached the adult who appeared to be related to the children to ask him to control them, and our table was met with quite aggressive abuse about how we obviously don’t have children. Some time later our main meals arrived. Although we asked for cutlery this seemed to confuse, so I must confess we borrowed cutlery from surrounding tables so we could eat. One portion of onion rings was missing- it did arrive around 10 minutes later. The food was all delicious, and when the staff had the space to give us any attention, they were lovely. Unfortunately I do not expect to visit a restaurant to wait over 40 minutes from arrival to food and to be subject to abuse for asking people to stop their children climbing under our table (we were not the only patrons to complain).Your staff were obviously stretched and stressed, and that’s not nice to see either. I was keen to recommend this venue to my family for a long overdue get together, and I’ve ended up embarrassed for a spoiled evening. I look forward to hearing your thoughts

Had a meal here while staying for work. Starter £9 , pitiful portion and cold Main course doublenthe price and disappointing also. For one person eating it took over an hour to be served and there was at the most 10 other people dining. The sneaky 12.5% service charge wasn't appreciated either.

Great service and the Thai chicken open sandwich was delicious. Rest of the new menu looks great too! Will be back to try some of the other dishes :)

Just been for a carvery the food was lovely, the restaurant has been re decorated and looks great. The staff were so friendly and attentive. Look forward to coming back.

The restaurant has recently been redecorated. It looked great, and the service was top notch. We both had the steak, which hit the spot. Kids menu was pretty good, and all in all I would recommend dinner at the restaurant. A great addition/improvement to the dinning offerings in Westhill. Book on line, they have a 20% off for December I think.

Super food, but inattentive service. We really enjoyed the food - good quality, well presented, and really tasty. We wanted to stay for a couple of drinks after our meal, though, and found the service to be pretty inattentive. This was disappointing as it wasn’t very late (between 8 and 9) and the restaurant wasn’t very busy at this point. Quite a long wait for the waiter or manager to come near us, and a long wait for our drinks.

What a stunning place. Recently refurbished, and it shows. Very impressive setting, great food and the staff were so friendly. The drinks were quite expensive, but I guess that's what you get in a hotel. Food for all 4 of us was fantastic, everyone loved it. My steak frites was the best ive ever had. Popped into the next door bar Scot's after our meals. Lively place, but again the staff were great, and the beer was good!

An excellent meal, the food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. We had Natasha as our server and she was outstanding. Friendly, positive and not too in your face! She is a real asset to the restaurant. We’ll come back again next time we’re in Aberdeen

The service was terrible, no structure to the floor with zero management in sight. Staff were really young and lacked any sort of guidance. Hard to blame them when it’s seems like they have had zero training. Defiantly a reflection on the management they are working under. Food was average , overpriced and took way too long (waited close to 45 mins for starters and mains weren’t much better). Overall it was a total mess and will need lots of work to become an acceptable standard. I understand this has gone under a recent refurbishment and it can be hard to regroup after being closed for some time. So I really hope they can turn things around and make the right changes were needed. Good luck!

The food was certainly good, (2 different starters, 4 different mains and 2 different desserts between us), and our young server Cameron was efficient and fun. Both would score higher than my overall rating. The big negative was the noise level - it was truly awful. Yes, it was a Friday and the lounge was busy, but it doesn’t say much for the overall design if a table of 4 found it difficult to have anything approaching a normal conversation. If we ever go back it would be to see if things were better on a Monday or Tuesday: we certainly won’t be back at a weekend.

Popped in for an early dinner. Decor is lovely. Food was good and we were served by Demi, who was very helpful and polite. Staff are very friendly.

Amazing, menu, great service, especially Natasha, lovely girl, very attentive. Highly recommend. Much better than before, keep it up!

Lovely staff and food, I thought I’d give the Haggis Samosa a go which was one of my favourite starters I have had in a long time. I then had the Glentanar Smokie which was very good and could not fault it.

First time here food was good, portions were decent and our waitress Eryn was lovely. Restaurant looks splendid.

This refurb looks promising. The decor is chique. Staff well turned out and pleasant friendly and smiling. The food was very good. Once food order was taken wait was not long. We had the blade of beef, Lamb Ragu pasta, and Chicken escalope. The presentation was very good and portions filling. Food was hot served on nice crockery. Prices are reasonable and there’s a varied selection of dishes. Hopefully the chefs all have the same standard. Sticky toffee pudding and chocolate torte to finish were delicious, although the sauce on the toffee pudding could have been warmer as plate was cold. Just newly opened I’d like to rate it 5 star however there are things to work on with regards service. The staff are all lovely but there’s a little confusion as to who was doing what. Training in this area so important. I noticed a senior staff member showing people to a table which he cleared but did not wipe down. Sorry but customers notice these things. A prompt greeting and menus given but then no one appeared to take a drinks order. This was rectified and they eventually arrived. The wine order was prompt and there ready for our meal. Nice glassware, nice wine selection again reasonably priced. We had to ask for our food order to be taken and also for dessert menus. There was prompt check back when our meals arrived which was good. So yes recommend a meal here and hope the fine tuning for service will provide a nice dining experience here in Westhill. Will definitely be back to try out more of the menu.
