Amazing food and value for money

Was at the star bar today with my ma n da ...passed by it hundreds of times in my life but never went in ...heard a lot about it ..all good so gave it a try today ...genuine glasgow pub ..bar staff servers etc were all very pleasant and helpfull ...for 4 pounds for a hearty old school 3 courser that in my opinion was good honest grub ....I will be back again soon ...thank you ..star bar wot you see is wot you get ..genuine people genuine food

Cosy, warm pub! popped in for their famous cooked lunch after watching gary’s eat on youtube on my recent trip, took a stroll from town centre to the pub and the place was truely homey, comfortable seats, and all the staff was indeed friendly. Lovely full lunch, just perfect.

Glasgow really does have some of the best pubs in the world and this place is right up there.

Price for the food is unbelievable tbf homemade cooked food for that price is mental! The wee woman who served us today was amazing too . Took my daughter and mrs in and all got soup meals and a desert 3 drinks for £19.50!! Great for the community well done ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely pub! Went today for their famous 3 course lunch for £4 (I paid an extra £1 for the fish) and it was absolutely delightful. Staff were great and the place was busy so it’s obviously very popular amongst the locals as well as people trying it out for the first time. My mum often talked about the pub and it’s lunches so I thought I’d give it a go and I was not disappointed, I’ll definitely be back again soon!

Glasgow icon. Most people can date their southside credentials by how cheaply they bought the 3 course meal in here...£1.20 incidentally. 😉 Currently £4 and a grand deal. Great staff, decent prices and choice. Proper boozer. Don't ever change.

Absolutely fantastic food, service and atmosphere. Three course lunch fir £4, which gives wide range of options for main course with starter of soup/juice and dessert of creamed rice or ice cream and jelly. Breaded fish main is £1 extra and real value here all round. Food is excellent with vegetables very high quality and expertly cooked. Vegetarian options available on the menu. A shout out to isabel the waitress, who, despite being the busiest and most efficient ever, always has a kind and encouraging word to spare about when food is coming. Food 5 🌟 Service 5 🌟 Atmosphere 5 🌟 I recommend this place highly. Starbar lunch- on list of twenty things tp do before you die.

This place should be commended for providing affordable meals for people from all sorts of backgrounds. 3 course meal for less than £5 that includes soup, chicken casserole and dessert.

Great night spent listening to some extremely talented singers at the karaoke night. Great atmosphere the people were extremely welcoming. The bar owner is lovely and friendly. Will definitely be back.⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Banging place. 3 course meal for £4-£5, great staff, reasonable bar prices, and has the feel of a pub which is sadly lacking these days. Only thing lacking is a bit of bread with your soup but for £4 it's a very minor issue. Everyone has to visit at least once a week. 10/10 all round.

I remember when it was 60p for the 3 course lunch back in the 90s, place hasn't changed one bit except the prices lol , far two expensive now 🤣😂🤣

A café as it was meant to be: great service, delicious beer and plenty of people to chat with.

The amount of people vaping in the premises is ridiculous. The staff do nothing to enforce the rules. Such a shame as it could be such a nice place if people were considerate of those who don't want to be covered in disgusting vape fumes.

Great old pub reminds me of the days going into a pub when I was young with my dad great service great food at fantastic prices of you like old style pub and great food this is a must for you the prices won't be beaten and the service from the bar absolutely brilliant with plenty banter and friendly chatt will definitely be back

This place is one of the places I feel comfortable In, it’s very autism friendly meaning the food is good, it’s quiet and comfortable. If you love food that feels like you are eating your nans food after a long cold day then this is the place to go. Food was so good and the serving size especially for the price is absolutely amazing. Very affordable but a nice place to go to! A three course meal for only £4 I can not stretch enough how perfect this place is

Institution in the Southside of Glasgow, only a couple of miles from the city centre. 3 course home made lunch for £4 (extra £1 for the mince & tatties or fish and chips). Home made soup to die for.

Sadly I have never had the opportunity to visit Star Bar, but from reading the reviews and the Sky news report on Stat Bar, I can confidently say you are not in it to make loads of money, but you are in it to genuinely help people, something most if not all businesses can never claim. You guys are doing the community a great service, sadly, nobody will be trying to copy your success.

Had lunch today with my sister and niece we have never been there before what amazing good for the price the ladies were friendly and very pleasant service very efficient we will definitely be back again highly recommended

I really enjoy going to the Star bar for lunch. The food is lovely and always piping hot,You can't beat the price and the staff are lovely.

Tried this place for the 1st time today with a friend. The food is good + the waitresses are efficient, pleasant + friendly. But what spoiled it for us was the very grumpy bordering on rude attitude from the guy behind the bar. And we had to wait ages before he made the teas I'd ordered. No explanation, no pleasantries, no words at all. Another customer told me he has bad back ache. So have I, but can manage to smile + speak. VERY disappointed ☹️

One Saturday in Glasgow is all I had. Passed a bar with some really great music coming from inside. It was karaoke but the singers were better than I’d ever heard - just incredible. Place was full of wonderful people and I had an absolute blast talking with folks, connecting through story, laughter, and drink. What a great night - thank you Star Bar.

Travelled 200 miles to visit here and the lounge was really busy but the lovely lady with the blonde bobbed hair was over to serve us quickly and she never had her head up the whole time. Cheerful helpful and very pleasant she was an absolute joy to deal with. I'd fruit juice mac and cheese chips and marrowfat peas then rice pudding and fruit cocktail. My partner had the soup ashet pie...steak not home made gravy veg peas and boiled potatoes then rice pudding and fruit. The soup was hot thick stick to your ribs stuff which he thoroughly enjoyed. Ditto his pie etc and the rice pudding.....TO DIE FOR. Only rated four stars because the macaroni was pretty tasteless and lacking in seasoning but it was piping hot and a good plate of grub. The marrowfat peas I thought were the dried ones boiled no juice like you'd get in a tin which we didn't mind but aside from that winner winner. Didn't see anyone having the roasts the breaded fish looked very tasty and the lady on the opposite table was praising it highly. Hats off to the lady in the kitchen....what a grafter and she was doing the dishes food orders tidying up and must have been roasting! There's no pretentiousness or snobbery here what you see is what you get but we left stuffed and very satisfied. One lovely thing I noticed there were a lot of older folks most known to the staff and the way the staff treated them was very touching and treating them very well and with respect. A lot of the elderly are treated like they're invisible or an inconvenience but the gentleman behind the bar was old school and it was so refreshing to see and hear....Great staff and they all worked like navvies.

Was pleasantly surprised as its so cheap but food was lovely. Soup was proper old school like my granny used to make. The mince pie, chips mushy peas & gravy was delightful as was fish. Then to finish ice cream and jelly. Three of us feed a 3 course meal with fresh orange & lemonade each for less than £20. If anyone moans then should give themselves a good shake cos you won't get better anywhere else Atmosphere was pure authentic and nostalgic, will definitely be back to try more

Was in Glasgow on a day trip we visited the starbar for the 3 course meal but unfortunately we were too late as it stops at 2.30pm we weren't aware of that, anyway the starbar is great in every way the locals are real salt of the earth lovely friendly place and the lady behind the bar was excellent she told us we're we could go and get some nice food and even came out of the bar to show us directions, if I lived in Glasgow I would make this my local pub, it has a real friendly vibe and I loved the decor.

Better than this at a VERY low price...? It smells a little like frying in the room and is a classic "once upon a time" bar with furnishings that have remained as they were a few decades ago. It is very popular with the locals. If you want to spend LITTLE, there is nothing better, simple but good food. Cheap beers compared to average. Ladies in the kitchen and at the counter with the usual Glasgow kindness 🥰 which for me is always the best part of any visit to Glasgow.

Popped into the Star Bar today for some lunch, I had the soup and it was lovely then I had the sausage hotpot which isn't really a hotpot but the sausage was really nice soft and tasty the only thing that let it down was the peas they were a bit dry, I then had the ice cream with jelly which was lovely too, good value for money looking forward to going back again.

The Tennent's at the Star Bar is rotten, tasteless and watery and often served in a Carling glass. Decent selection of karaoke singers but the attitude of the bar staff and karaoke host on Saturday nights is abysmal.

Great place makes you feel very welcome.

Was in for lunch tday with a client I support. We both enjoyed the lentil soup n nice fresh bread, fish n chips then ice cream. Great fast service from Andrea. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch. Will definitely be back. Thank u 😁

Amazing Value! 😁 ... x3 course meal for £4.00!! (Soup, Main, Pudding) And i got a mug of tea for £1.00. We also ordered drinks, ang got 2 pints of belhaven best, a whisky and can of irn-bru, and a pink gin and lemonade all for approx £14. Overall, we all absolutely loved it, and we will all definitely be back again soon! They all had breaded fish, which they loved ... and I had ham... tbh the ham wasn't amazing... albeit I ate it all 😉, but what do you expect for £4!! There is so much choice for your mains... cheesy mac, breaded fish, sausages, beef, ham, ashet pie 🥧 ... i think a few more things that i can't remember now 😋 **** It's definitely worth a try!! **** It's known for the cheapest lunch in Glasgow, and I think even in Scotland. The staff were super friendly and the service was so fast!

This is one of those places that hasn't changed in decades, quite the institution and well known for it's insane value 3 course meal for a few quid. I've not tried the food. Their drinks offering is truly basic. Not many beers on tap either, but you can expect to pay the cheapest price. Sadly it is still cash only. Went in on a midweek evening and it had a small crowd of very drunk old men.

Foods good, good price, pool table is good, maybe some of the staff should smile now and again tbh.

The iconic Star Bar at Eglinton Toll, famous for the cheapest 3 course meal in Glasgow. After 40 years, they reluctantly raised prices! It is now a whopping £4 for a three course meal. I know! Dined there today and although never likely to win a Michelin Star, it was decent nosh at an incredible price. Andrea the manager, server, head honcho was like the Tasmanian Devil. So efficient yet very attentive. Very friendly. Looked after our party of 7 so well. No complaints. A piece of Glasgow history that lives on and thrives still.

Definitely not a novelty place. I'm a bit of a regular being someone who lives in the area and I'm aware people my age are like "ooo £4 3 course meal old man pub how quirky" but it's great. Lunches are great value, pints are good, staff and punters are nice, jukebox and pub quiz machine are there, always people playing pool. I could easily spend a whole day there and not notice the time passing

Food is amazing and cheap, 3 courses for £4 or £5 depending on what you get, just a single bad point, the place is filthy and the decor needs updated, the owners are a bit on the misery side, never seen them smile or even smirk, oh remember to wipe your feet on the way out we have to keep the streets of Glasgow clean

Classic Glasgow pub. Has two bars, the lounge where there’s live music and a bar which has a pool table and is a bit quieter.

Not as good as I remember. The soup was really nice. I chose the turkey roast . Gravy was very gloopy and they'd run out of mash but we did turn up 30 minutes before they stopped serving. My friend had the macaroni and cheese with chips and peas, cheese sauce was very watery. Jelly and ice cream was fine. Three course lunch for £4, I don't suppose you can complain.
