Popped in for a coffee. The cafe wasn't busy. Ordered and paid at the counter and then sat at a table. Waited and waited and waited and eventually got up to go back to the counter. The person who had taken my order wasn't busy serving other people but rearranging pastries and other work, Hadn't even started the coffee. I said could she hurry up the coffee and it arrived in a takeaway cup and was almost undrinkable. I am sure it wasn't chicory but tasted similarly awful. Shame - used to be good

Tucked away on a side street near Piccadilly , Giovanni’s is well worth going to . Lovely bright room & a menu that covers everything . We all had grilled cheese & I must say it was great & very generous as well. Staff were cheery & helpful . Check it out , you won’t be disappointed

Really good, freshly cooked breakfasts (one normal, one veggie with hallloumi). Arrived quickly, large portions and loads of toast to go with it. Coffee was great too

It was the worst place I have ever been waited for 45 mins for a vegi breakfast when it arrived half the breakfast was missing waited another 5 mins for it to turn up it did not we got a refund and left. There are plenty of better places to go

Enjoyed a delicious Poached Egg Royale today, the smoked salmon was super fresh and the service was bright and bubbly. A bargain at £12 with a Flat White. A hidden gem in the city centre, I will be back!

Go here at your peril. Terrible experience Venue ran by children. 2 people claiming to be manager and unable to rectify issues. Bad food, bad service, bad experience If I had a choice between here and dining at Guantanamo I would choose the later. If I never went here again it would be too soon

Unfriendly staff, miserable food and wanted to charge for hot water to heat my tea up (after buying 3 breakfasts)!! Hardly anyone eating there and we can see why having had such a disappointing experience.

My friend and I dropped in here for lunch. The food was delicious, it arrived in an instant and was really reasonably priced. We probably spent about half as much as we would have done in a national branded chain. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

Great place! Hidden on New York St and lots of competition close by but this is my fave. Staff are super, friendly, polite, nothing too much trouble, provide personal advice on the choices, efficient beyond belief. Don't miss out!

6 of us called in for breakfast before a visit to Manchester Beer Festival, we all had the full English Breakfast which was lovely and quality food, 6 clean plates! Service and staff were excellent, would highly recommend.

Ordered the full English, all the usual trimmings etc , and toast included. Pleasant staff, clean establishment and food taste great. Thoroughly recommend.

6 of us visited for breakfast, all ordering something different, all very happy with the food. I had a standard full English which was cooked to perfection and well presented. Place very clean.

Pedí un barmillo vegetariano, al principio llegó con salchicha y tocino, lo tomé de nuevo y me aseguraron que me harían un nuevo barm, y en menos de 5 minutos me lo compraron con grasa de tocino y trozos de tocino. en la baguette. Great range of fresh sandwiches, panini, jacket potatoes, salads, wraps and warm food . All served fresh and perfect for a quick bite to eat in or take out. Lovely light decor and clean, 5 Star hygiene rating. Friendly service too. I’d highly recommend the shortbread cake it’s the best I’ve had!!

Come back here regularly as the staff are great the most friendly lot of people! They really get to know you when you frequently go in! The foods really good grub! Anything you fancy is on there! The paninis are huge! The portions are great...

Decided to go in here for a bit of brunch. I ordered the low carb' chicken and avocado dish. I have never had such dry chicken. It was terrible. I complained to the waitress and she said that it was because they had grilled it !! the presentation was terrible. Looked like someone had already part eaten it... They gave me a refund, no quibble. Then another waitress came over and apologised and told me, that they shouldn't be serving this dish because it was bad, and she said that they were taking it off the menu ? My son had the omelette. Again, that was really dry but edible. Maybe we just chose the wrong things !!

Called in here with my young boys for a spot of lunch. Amazing little place that you'd happily walk past. My boys are fussy eaters so whatever they wanted they made. Everything is made fresh to order and the paninis are huge.

Sabía que parecía terrible y peor de lo que parecía! ! Mi principal problema con este es que es ser un establecimiento proporting categoría vendiendo sándwich por £3. 80, no obstante son claramente con valor anémicos insípido salchichas! ! Id a una carnicería y entregar un buen bocadillo! !

Este es un lugar que podría pasar cada día y no nos dimos cuenta de lo que es o lo que es capaz de, yo llamé por aquí para tomar el almuerzo y oh dios la elección es increíble y por el precio que realmente no puedo quejarme de nada. En la última semana ya va en cada día que he estado y tenía un almuerzo. El personal es educado y realmente se toman el tiempo para llegar a conocerlo. Increíble pequeño lugar nunca se sabe.

I first came in because I had missed breakfast that morning and saw they had a breakfast deal of a bacon, egg or sausage sandwich and coffee or tea for £2.95. Bargain. The food was great, the service was excellent, and I could take just grab it and go. Now I go in quite regularly for my Giovanni's breakfast fix! The service is something that truly stands out for me. After only been in a couple of times, they knew my order. Now when I go in he's already got my coffee brewing! Really love this place.

I'm a great believer in supporting the independents. The coffee and the service is always better here than any Costa, Starbucks, Phillpots or Pret. Food made to order and always fresh.Enjoy.

Work close by and when its cold and miserable outside there's nothing better than a big lovely breakfast from here, for breakfast or lunch! The portions are good for the price, I wish there was more than one mushroom but the bacon and sausage are lovely. Bonus they do takeaway so when I'm rushed at work can still enjoy. Although much nicer to sit in the lovely clean eating area.

If you are tired of the same old offerings for lunch, this place offers something different. The food is fresh, and unique. Great quality and reasonably priced. Definitely worth a visit, i cant wait to go back.

Came here with my friend after walking round Manchester for ages looking for somewhere that sells an all day breakfast and we where not disappointed! Absolutely amazing value for money, good size breakfast, freshly squeezed orange juice, friends staff and the wait on food was so short. Would definitely recommend and come back next time we're in the area.

I visit Giovanni's maybe once a month for my lunch while working. Every time I have the Oriental Chicken Pannini! It is incredible! Portion sizes are more than generous! So much better than the prepackaged ones available at a lot of other nearby eateries!

Travelled to Manchester today in order to sort out visa's for our travels to China. The weather was gloomy and the streets were busy. Stopped in for a quick breakfast with my father after stumbling across this restaurant en route to a different place, glad we did.Beautiful insides, lovely atmosphere & happy positive staff. Service was relatively quick and food was presented cleanly and pleasantly, tasted as good as it looked. Menu is typically breakfast/day time take out, ranging from a full English to any choice of wrap or jacket potatoes.Highly recommend, would come here again without question.

A convenient, clean deli that rarely has a line and has a reasonably broad breakfast and lunch menu (including some good paninis). I'm sure it is a fine place for local business people to grab a quick bite but as a tourist there is nothing special here in terms of atmosphere.

This place was a gem of a find. Only a few metres from portand St, it offers breakfast and lunch mainly. However the quality of the food turned out is excellent. Non greasy and tasty. Staff are attentive but not in your face. In all I would highly recommend if you are staying in portand St area.

I went there for trial shift, noone have explained to me much it was a messy and disorganised enviroment. I have asked for guide what i can do instead there were expectations of delivering standard service like from people who already work there. I have worked 4hours trial shift and finally asked how are the things going again noone knew anything. Ive been asked to work 2 probation days for free as a training and to prove myself!!! I cant say bad things about the staff they were trying to answer my questions but nobody seemed to be trained properly. It looked like people were thrown into enviroment and were gaining knowledge about how this place runs. Definitely can say do not work there They use peoples who do not know they're rights.

I have visited here a few times on the weekend for brunch with my husband. There is an NPC car park directly opposite which is £5 all day on Sat and Sun which is handy. We are always able to get a seat straight away, they do a really good menu in terms of choice. There also have a healthy section of the menu with weird and wonderful items on the menu if you are following a strict healthy diet/lifestyle. However we opted for the cooked breakfast which is wonderful. It's tastefully cooked and not greasy at all. Service is fantastic and spot on and it's lovely at the weekend to read the papers, relax and chill out. Well done, keep up the good work.

Service was bordering on surly. Veggie breakfast was fine, but toasted sandwich was very uninspiring with bland cheese and not even any salad garnish. Coffee was very disappointing - expected more from an Italian deli.

I come here at least twice a month for a full breakfast and i am never disappointed with the quality of the food and the lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff and quick service. Highly recommended.

A group of us stumbled across this place when looking for a Sunday morning breakfast. We were impressed by the good value and high standard of the breakfasts as well as the good ambience of the place. The staff had a good attitude and we were happy to take our time enjoying a lengthy breakfast and good coffee. This place is off the beaten track but close to the busy Piccadilly Plaza and the Britannia Hotel. Giovanni’s Deli offers good value and is a great alternative the chain venues which proliferate the area. Next time I am in the area I will seek out Giovanni’s for my dining experience.

Forget any hotel breakfast, go to Giovanni's and get the best breakfast in Manchester! We go every time where in Manchester and it never disappoints excellent.

We went to this beautiful clean and tasteful place for breakfast on drab Monday morning. We were staying overnight at the malmasion and this was the perfect place for breakfast before our journey back to Birmingham. Both had the full English with tea and toast and it was one of the tastiest cooked breakfasts that I have ever had! Considering it was a full English it was cooked beautifully with not a bit of grease or fat. As already stated lovely and clean surroundings and nice ample mug of tea. Would highly recommend and would have like to have been able to try the lunch menu because it all looked fabulous.

We were jet lagged and looking for a cozy late lunch. Giovanni's hit the spot. Hot chocolate was great. Warm sandwiches were tasty. Would visit again and wholly recommend.

Amongst all the coffee chains we see on the high street this provides a great alternative for a place to meeting in the centre and away from all the crowds. But it has a further benefit that it serves fresh dishes unlike the pre packed crappy paninis you get at the coffee house chains. I had had a fab omelette with onions, which wasn't on the menu. Perhaps a little more attention is needed to the bit of salad that was on the plate as this was a pure after thought and added noting. But overall the dish was yum.Service was quick, staff were pleasant, the place was nice but simply decorated and the cost reasonable. Defiantly worth popping in and make a change to the usual coffee chains. Plus they do a great cup coffee as well.

Nice change from the usual chain cafes and very handy for the centre. Really reasonable prices and the staff very pleasant plenty of smiles and efficient. What I liked most of all was the atmosphere, lots of people sitting chatting and looking very relaxed. I was visiting a company on business and mentioned Giovannis to them and they all rate it really highly as well, given the number of people eating and buying take aways there it is obviously very well thought of. The only reason I have given it four stars rather than five is because there was too much coleslaw on my baked potato and not enough cheese the former rather smothering the latter but even given that I would give it a four. I saw the food others were eating and next time when I go back it will be one of the sandwiches and chips or the breakfast both of which looked amazing.

I want one of these down south. Had the green reviver smoothie and the Gym Fit Breakfast (scrambled egg, salmon, avocado, tomato and granarybread. Served stress free, relaxed , crisp, clean surroundings. Staff seem proud and confident, which so they should be. :).

Ran in after a gym session from across the road, around 5 o'clock, they had just closed but we're still very happy to service me what I wanted, with was just a green smoothie which was so good, packed with kale, and fruit with Lemongrass, which totally made the drink 10 times better. Very happy, friendly and relaxed environment, with great service and healthy, fresh, quick food. Will definitely be back, just for the green smoothie

We visited for a quick meal as we were going out early to a gathering. Our food was fresh and served efficiently.It is a fairly small menu but we both found something to choose very easily from what was on offer. The only thing was as it was empty there was no atmosphere- certainly not their fault - but would like to return when busier to get a better feel for the place.

I visited this place on my own and was intending on having a business meeting up the road at a hotel but soon changed it to here as it was so nice.Fresh is a great word and it sums this place up exactly from the food to the décor it really left me thinking London could do with a place like this.The lady who served me was really helpful when I was picking a Panini & very chatty.I stayed for the afternoon drinking hot chocolates and picking things from the menu listening to the eclectic choice of music and watching people go by through the lovely wall to ceiling windows.Fancy opening one up in Woking, Surrey??

We had been out on a night out in Manchester and needed somewhere to have breakfast in the morning and just opposite where we had parked Giovanni's seemed the most obvious place. It looked clean, modern and the menu in the window displayed excellent value for money! The atmosphere was great and the little quirks like the toilet sign for example made me smile. We all had full breakfasts and the value for money was excellent. A really nice touch was the freshly squeezed orange juice in cartons in the fridge which you could tell were fresh out of an orange with noi additives. We would definitely eat there on our next trip to Manchester and I urge you to try it out next time you go.

The place looked quiet but im glad I went in, I ordered The Don burger, two hand made 8oz patties with crispy bacon and fried onions. I have never had to use a knife and fork to eat a burger before but I was just overwhelmed with the size! It was a work of art and it tasted as good as it looked! Giovanni told me the patties were 95% beef and I believe him, tasty, juicy with crispy bacon, and it even came with fries for £9.50 and glass bottle coke for £1.50... Absolute bargain!Friendly family service and well worth a visit, beats the commercial burger chains hands down.

So much choice, of eateries in Manchester these days I mean. As a child of the sixties, working in a Moseley Street record shop on Saturdays, I remember the lunchtime choice of venues as being the Kardomah, Lyon’s Tea Room (if they would let you in) or...GET THIS...The UCP (Tripe). Ok, there was the odd public house (Sam’s Chop House for example or The Shakespeare on Fountain Street), offering more tempting fare but also offering “mind altering” beverages to a “ barely old enough to partake, part time record salesman” which could easily have resulted in his refusal to sell a James Last album to a devoted, expectant James Last fan....making sure that he left the shop with at least a copy of the latest album by James Brown and the Famous Flames or (my man) Otis if they were really well behaved.Ok, so this is not a music review. Truly it is an accolade in appreciation of Giovanni’s Deli and Lounge.If you are still awake, please take this recommendation from someone who has seen the emergence of Manchesters’ restaurants from the hum drum of the sixties to the proliferation of establishments whose fare and welcomes we can enjoy today. For references to the cleanliness of Giovanni’s Deli and Lounge, the freshness of the ingredients you will be offered, the friendliness of the friends who will greet and care for you (I won’t use the words “Staff” or “Serve” in respect of this “home from home”)....refer to the many accolades written by others.
