The chippy box. All battered items were chewy. The pie was grim. Really disappointing. I’ve had good experiences ordering in store but this was poor.

I had an incredibly disappointing experience at Giovanni's Fish & Chip Shop. One of the brothers who owns the place is extremely rude, both to the staff and the customers. This created a very unpleasant and uncomfortable atmosphere. To make matters worse, I've been overcharged a number of times: a fish supper advertised at £11 on the menu screen was charged at £12, and a pizza deal advertised at £22.50 was charged at £25. It seems prices are made up as they go along! The combination of poor customer service and incorrect charges ensures that I won't be returning.

Been using Giovannis for 40 years but won't be back.Popped in last night for a fish supper and had issues with the card reader..what I wasn't expecting was the rude girl who was serving to be rolling her eyes at me because it didn't work..the issue was frustrating enough without the attitude of the girl serving.. Seems loyalty means nothing today and I need to look for a new chippy..

Food was delivered late and was disappointing quality when it did arrive. The pizza in the kids meal was inedible. All meals were cold.

so twice previously I've had promotional chips not included with the order. (why have the special offer if not honoring it?). This time, the order was over 20mins late and the bottles of juice supplied were much smaller than what I paid for. When I spoke to someone the 2nd time, they asked "what am I meant to do about it?"! laughable. Strike 3 in my opinion and won't be ordering again which is a pity as the food is usually nice. Let down by the lack of customer care & attention given to orders.

Food wise one of the best chippys in Edinburgh, only issue is the delivery time occasionally. Ordered at 17:20 arrived at 18:50 definitely longer than expected.

Later than anticipated by 20 minutes received food however no prawns in the dish ordered and slightly cold

These guys are superb. Friendly & great quality food. Fish & chips are best in area by far. Would recommend pizzas & salads too. They are really kind to my doggo & I and they’re super busy all the time, but always take time to say hi.

Delivery was over 20 min late. My food was cold. Shame because the fish was really good and if it had been hot it would have been great. The delivery guy was really friendly. Overall I think this is a good place I was just unlucky on this occasion. I would recommend them and will give them another try.

Food is amazing and always love it. However delivery times are really slow would recommend having another driver on.

Ordered 3 fish suppers,a bootle of juice and a roll,and was charged £41.50,they advertise fish supper at £11,called back a few days later and was told they charged me an extra £1 per fish supper for me picking it up,total disgrace,is says nothing on there website about being charged extra for picking it up,never even got an apology,stay away

Order was 25 mins after already waiting 1.5H! The driver was rude and forgot my fizzy juice, food was average, not worth the wait for price!

I've ordered from here before & it's been really good but in the last 6 months it seems to have gone down hill. The breaded fish was very greasy & soggy, not crisp, and the chips were just as bad, from the smell I'd say they definitely need to change their oil. I won't order from them again, takeaways now are too expensive to throw half away.

your pasta was disgusting it was watery tasteless also the cream had split and the driver delivered it at 828 and he said it was after 2100 he delivered. not true. saltied pasta at best disgusting.

Almost 2hrs the order had taken. Bad service with people on the phone no apology no heads up. Didn’t care. Food isn’t great. Which is really disappointing. Def a place to avoid.

Ordered a steak pie supper pretty sure it was half cooked and the chips were terrible arrived freezing aswell!! None of it got ate apart from the Nutella balls and galaxy caramel!

It would be better if they had a better set up for collections

Pasta was good but small portions. Ordered a 12 inch garlic pizza bread with cheese for £6.80 and were given 2 slices of plain bread with nothing on it so not entirely sure what happened there…

Food was lovely as always... think portion sizes could be larger particularly when ordering their pasta dishes (considering the price) but what I had was tasty.

Soggy batter on the fish, fish was very dry and the chips were also dry, disappointed. Only plus side was the deliveryman was on time which I appreciate :)

Stay 10mins walk from here, told driver on his way 25mins later still no driver, called restaurant and told on his way. Guy in shop told the guy on the phone to put the phone down on me when called to enquire. Called back and got shouted at down the phone.

Ordered at 18.36 and received 20.23 should have arrived between 19.25 and 19.45. Food was fine tho !

Food was fine, however be prepared to wait a while on delivery. I usually collect, however I decided on delivery as it stated it would be around 45 minutes, I have a baby so it suited me fine. After my order had been accepted it said it would arrive between 18.55 and 19.15. Checked the app and it was saying food had been delivered but had no food. I called them at 19.25 and they said food was just leaving them now. I ordered at 18.07, it’s now 20.00 and food has just arrived. As nice as it was,

Honestly it’s absolutely ridiculous. I stay 5 mins from here, I have a toddler hence delivery, the time is disgusting I do not know what they are doing within the 2 hours it takes them to deliver. Totally dumbfounding! Will never ever order again.

I normally always get a decent dinner from here ! With the price hike I would except better , dinner was cold on arrival , smelt like smoke ie delivery driver , took ages to find the house ! Chicken pakora was fine once heated , but the chips and curry sauce were drier than a whores heart !! £6.00 for them very expensive and definitely not worth the money !! Definitely not worth spending hard earned cash and cook myself from now on !! Sorry ….

Chips were a bit undercooked today, very disappointed, I know it's 10% off today, didn't realise it affected the portion size as well, if my chips was a large I'd hate to see what a small looks like, McD portion springs to mind.

I recently ordered a meal consisting of smoked sausage and chips, along with a mixed kebab, from a local take-away service. Unfortunately, the experience was far from satisfying. Firstly, the delivery was significantly delayed, which was an inconvenience. However, the real disappointment lay in the meal itself. Upon arrival, both the smoked sausage and chips, as well as the mixed kebab, were stone cold. This significantly detracted from what could have been a pleasant meal. The portion size of the chips was surprisingly small, almost derisory, which was a letdown considering they are usually a staple of a good take-away meal. Moreover, the quality of the mixed kebab was underwhelming. The meat was tough, reminiscent of the texture of an old boot, making it difficult and unpleasant to eat. The lack of warmth only compounded this issue, as the texture of cold, tough meat was far from appetizing. Overall, this take-away experience was disappointing. The late delivery, poor temperature, small portions, and subpar quality of the food did not live up to expectations. It’s unfortunate, but I would be hesitant to order from here again or recommend it to others.

Very disappointed with this order it was nearly 30 min s late and when it arrived it was barely warm. I ha to heat everything up It’s usually very good at this takeaway They must have been extra busy tonight

I’ve been going to Giovanni’s for over 40 years on and off (I moved away). It has always provided the best fish and chips and it still does. We had Bruschetta, Pizza with anchovies, olives and capers, and a fish supper. Everything was perfect. Bellissimo. Gracie.

Came here not long ago. On both occasions the owner has been so rude to his employees especially the polish females taking orders and payments it’s extremely uncomfortable. The way he talks to them is horrendous, he even mocks them in front of customers. Will never come here again and he should be absolutely ashamed of himself! Don’t know why they don’t quit on the spot.

They forgot part of the order but it was quickly sorted out after a phone call... Food was good as was the delivery service too.
