Gio's in Bournemouth

We really enjoyed our visit to Gio’s. The food was amazing- the portions were generous. The service was great and super friendly. I would definitely go again and will be taking friends and family there.

Service was a little slow but the food 100% worth the wait! Absolutely delicious food, presented beautifully and very reasonably priced.

After 8 weeks dining out in Bournemouth, we discovered Gio's. Friendly high quality service and even better food puts this place on a small shortlist of restaurants to revisit. Well worthy of a top rating.

This is a fantastic restaurant with so many choices all at pretty reasonable prices. I had the Alfredo pasta which was excellent my wife had the margarita pizza again excellent It is up a side street but well worth seeking out. A big bonus is they are also very dog friendly. I would definitely recommend a visit.

Great place. Friendly. Gio the second served us. Wonderful South African fare! Thoroughly recommended for quality of food and good value. I started with pudding! Peppermint crisp tart and Dom Pedro's. Boozy icecream shakes. Bunny chow ( lamb curry in half a loaf of baked bread! Lekker!

What a place fantastic food selection and staff welcoming helpful only drawback what to choose between bunny chow borewors vetkoek what to choose and then desert menu melktart, koeksisters or even peppermint tart absolutely worth going in the area definitely go will I be back most definitely.

We passed through Bournemouth and stopped here for dinner. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. What a treasure! We had vetkoek, pizza, bobotie, Bolognese and ribs. Each dish was perfect and sooo tasty. We wanted to take pictures but only did it after eating most of it. Service was very friendly. We ended the wonderful experience off with a very yummy Dom Pedro. This will definitely be our go to place when passing through Bournemouth again.

I came here with two of my vegetarian friends mostly at random to be honest. They hadn't been to Bournemouth before and wanted to eat. I suggested a wander around the centre and we found this place. The food and service were both very good. It's an independent place which is something I always try to support where possible, rather than going to a chain. My friends had the vegan Bunny Chow, a side of chips and a salad to share. They seemed very happy with it. I took the lamb Bunny Chow and really enjoyed it. It's a lot of food though and couldn't finish it! I added on the spicy periperi sauce which was great, as I found it a little mild to my taste other wise. I'll defo come back, really happy I've found this place.

Wow the food here at Gio's is superb, tucked away on a side street but you must go, the lady that welcomes you on arrival who also owns the restaurant alongside her husband is so friendly. We both ordered a traditional South African dish, I had Babootie and hubby had Bunny Chow and they were both simply amazing, cooked to perfection, it was the best meal throughout our week's holiday. Everyone who goes to Bournemouth must try and go. Thankyou Gio's, if we are ever in the area again you'll be sure to see us.... 👍😄

5 stars does not do it justice! I’m so happy we found this little gem! Honestly one of the most amazing places I’ve ever eaten. Lots of flavour, great presentation and brilliant service. Cute little place away from all the busy footfall even the music was perfect.

We had a really lovely afternoon at Gio's watching the Rugby. Great family run restaurant, service was really good, food was excellent!! We had Bobotie, Prego Rolls & Pizza.. everybody absolutely loved their choice of food, especially the tasty SA flavours - Thank You Gios 😊

A great evening meal, with a range of varities of dishes. Janine, was very welcoming and provided exceptional service in order for our meals to be served to our requirements!

Really don't understand why it has so many good reviews, food was less than average, staff is nice and that's the reason I gave two stars instead of one but still that doesn't excuse the quality of food which is close to zero. I'm sorry to leave such a bad review but I think they have to up their game or hire a proper chef, I don't mind paying more, I've also had better food in Bournemouth on the same price range.

Hi there, we are german exchange students and we ate two times at Gio's. Lovely service, everyone was very friendly and the food was veeery yummy. We all really enjoyed eating there so highest rating. Hoping to someday go there again to eat a delicious pizza!

Very delicious food with reasonable price. The wings were supper good. Warm welcoming atmosphere, family run business. We did not have the pizza when dough was not ready. Will try on our next trip to Bournemouth.

We really enjoyed our dinner here tonight. Not only is the food great, the service is exceptional. The family is the heart of this restaurant and they treat their customers as such, truly caring that you get what you came in to do, whether it is trying something new, or going for a classic that you know and love. The place is filled with personal touches that make dining that bit more special. We will certainly be booking here again.

So we got given a list of dog friendly restaurants from are hotel that we were staying in , so we choose gio’s , never been and didn’t known much about it nor did we have time to look at reviews etc before ! Well in all the years we have been coming to Bournemouth this has to be the best family and dog friendly place I have ever been !! As agreed by the wife and 4 year old child ! , it’s a family run business , with a good selection of food and drink , lovely staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Are daughter loved it and the fact that are dog could come made it even better , service and food and the price was excellent!! A must try ! A hidden gem

Friendly staff, chef adapted our order with no problems. Delicious food. Relaxed atmosphere. Boerewors roll, ribs, curry (in bunny chow) and spatchcocked chicken were all amazing.

Visited Gio's with my mom, son, daughter and grandson. Went especially so that my mom could have melktert which she loved. The rest of us tried different things on the menu and all the food was amazing. Will definately be going back and would highly recommend a visit.

Where to start... Staff are very welcoming with a great atomsphere, prices are very reasonable and have a wide selection of food :) We managed to get a great little sun trap on the front Terrace....but part of the visit was getting to write on the wall ! Would definitely recommend to anyone to go try it out 💓

This was hands down the best pizza I’ve ever had! Not to mention the incredible ingredients and love that goes into the food, but the friendly/family orientated staff who make you feel at home from the get go. I will be back in a heartbeat. 10/10 x

Great service every time we go and only the best food. My kids beg to go back for the wors rolls and peppermint tart every time. The owners are always happy to have a chat amd a catch up. Definitely recommend for all.

We fell in love with the menu and ended up having multiple courses and rolled out once we were done. Everything was fresh, delicious and good portion sizes. The atmosphere was welcoming and they could not do enough to make us feel cared for. Best was we were not rushed out, able to enjoy the evening in a great setting watching this family work hard to deliver a great experience.

Loads of South African Portuguese tasty, regular grub, street food and drink. Absolute treat and dog friendly.

A smallish lovely place offering genuine cuisine from South Africa. This is the reason to go. They also have a small selection of dishes from Italy and Portugal. It's definitely more for meat eaters. The food is really good and presentation is clearly important to them. Although it is niche cuisine you find a broad range of people there. Prices are affordable for the aria ranging from around £6 for starters to around £11 for mains. Their drinks are the usual concentrating mostly on imported drinks from South Africa. These are obviously a bit more pricey but still tolerable at around £6.50 for a beer. Usuals like tea, coffee, gin, ext are typically priced if you are not interested in being adventurous. The ambience is lovey and it's a great place to go especially if you are looking for something a bit different. I recommend a trip and I'll definitely be going back.

Absolutely loved it here and couldn't recommend it enough. Great food and service and surprisingly reasonably priced. Has something for everyone (try the Chourico). Will certainly come back when I next get the opportunity.

Fantastic little place! Awesome menu and food. Dishes served are a choice between Portuguese, South African and Italian. Staff are amazing. Can definitely recommend...park on Richmond Hill and 2 minute walk down.

I've been here three times and never disappointed. The food is amazing. The staff and owners are lovely and very helpful. I love that they welcome dogs. Their social yesterday was a huge success. We met allot of new people. I highly recommend going.

Very nice arancini and penne pasta was great, the latter need to be a bit more al dente but Amazing tomato sauce, great service and now you have beers and wine to choose.
