Gino's Spaghetti House in Oxford

Our meal before running the Oxford Half Marathon. Super service friendly and efficient. Cheesy garlic bread awesome, we all had ravioli, mine was delicious with pumpkin and sage. Crispy frittes and affogato to finish. Really recommend this little restaurant. I am a foodie and came away very satisfied

A lovely meal, so very typically Italian and great service. This place hasn’t changed in years and I haven’t been for about 20 years but so glad I did. Although it’s a little jaded it adds to the charm and the food is excellent as is the service. We will be back. Thank you.

We found this place online searching for Italian food in Oxford. We were kinda tired of the pub food. The pasta was very good and came out steaming hot. The had a huge menu and outdoor seating. Service was pretty good but extremely personable. Would recommend this place.

Came here several times back in the nineties but somehow hadn't been back for a long long time, so was delighted to find it pretty much unchanged. Quintessential old-school Italian with a comprehensive set of classics on the menu, the space is cosy and bustling, the food solidly, unfussily good, and the staff thoroughly pleasant and efficient. Still seems popular with larger groups so can get a little noisy at times, but that just adds to the fun. A delight.

I must have been coming here for at least the last 10 years. Since moving abroad a few years ago it is still on my to do list if I am ever back in the Oxford area. Enjoyed a fab dinner this weekend with family, the tagliatelle pesto prawn was as delicious as always. Good to see the restaurant was busy and glad we booked in advance.

We were made to feel welcome and my husband as a wheelchair user was asked where he would feel most comfortable sitting. Full marks. Friendly, efficient service, delicious food and wine. Recommend

We found this place on a whim after googling ‘cheap Italian restaurant’ and we could not have been more satisfied with our trip. Every meal we had felt authentic and was so flavourful, the staff were also very welcoming and made us feel very looked after. Considering the quality the price was also so reasonable.

We visited as a family of four for supper, try pleasant and truly Italian restaurant, food very good (note, the salad was a bit plain, needed dressing) , delightful service and close to the theatre. Truly recommended.

Very disappointing. Our waiter seemed disinterested in all that was going on around him, including serving us efficiently. We waited the best part of an hour for our meal - we can only assume either the waiter or the kitchen forgot us. Tables around us who arrived after us were being served dessert before we'd even got out main course. The food itself was disappointing - we have a regular Italian restaurant that we visit and this was nowhere near as good in so many ways - the food, the décor, the service. This was very definitely more basic - bare tables more suited to a cheap student cafe, not even tablecloths and the wall by us could have done with a wipe down as there were splashes of what I assume was food on it. The owner/manager apologised for the delay but apologises cost nothing - the removal or the 10% service charge or the offer of free desserts would have been more convincing. We won't be visiting again.

We’ve been to Gino’s lots of times before, but haven’t been for a while and we were left really underwhelmed today. Food and service is normal spot on, however even with few tables seated and four waiting staff the service today was really lacklustre. Drinks were wrong when they arrived, part of our food order never arrived, my carbonara was really bland. No fresh salt & pepper, it’s now in paper sachets. The mixed salad was fresh and tasty, and my husbands calzone was delicious. I may have just made a wrong food choice, but I’ve had the carbonara here before and it’s been amazing, sadly todays was just creamy, and the ham tasted cheap, not saying it was, but it tasted it. No one checked on us through the meal, no one offered extra drinks. In the end we approached the bar to pay. Gino's has done much better previously, we were disappointed today, and if today is the new normal we sadly will not be returning.

Fantastic Italian, family-run feel restaurant. Great price point. All the food we ordered was delicious. Our only con was they were out of the two most popular dessert options. Will definitely be back.

Absolutely love this restaurant. The food is always amazing, the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They squeezed in me and my daughter tonight after a theatre trip even though they were packed with customers - meaning they must be doing something right to be so busy! I hate chain restaurants and this place is a family run gem in central Oxford. If you want good traditional Italian food, cooked and served by a traditional Italian family, this is for you. This restaurant was so good that We brought our family for a return visit. If you like good Italian food and a cozy, family owned setting, I guarantee this is the place for you! Everything we tried on our 2 dining visits was excellent: the pizza, the calzone, the pastas, the salads, topped off by very good desserts, including homemade tiramisu. Attentive service, and a fast kitchen, where the crowning glories.

Our order was forgotten. We waited nearly an hour for our food. We had to ask what had happened to our order and the reply was not satisfactory. Quality of food when it finally arrived was good.

Hmm underwhelmed with this place. Not the nicest looking place from the outside. The inside isnt the best either, it almost feels unclean. The food was ok, mine and my three friends had a pasta dish which was ok but the others had calzone and it was very very dry. Staff were not the friendliest, such a shame as obviously it is an independent and not a chain and could have so much more potential with a bit of TLC and staff training to give a smile !

Everything excellent. Good quality food, wine and service. Very attentive and helpful staff. Had a chat with the co-owner/front of house manager at the end of the evening, who was clearly very knowledgeable and customer focused. This family-run business far exceeds the standard set by any of the Italian ‘chain’ restaurants. Will definitely be returning to this restaurant in the near future.

Unfortunately I have to give 2 stars. Me and my friend went to have some lunch, as we were on a trip in Oxford. I was expecting way more. We’ve got a carbonara and a focaccia. The carbonara was tasteless and the focaccia basically half cooked. We spoke with the manager which handled it very well and he didn’t let us pay for the food, but only the drinks. Thanks for that 🙂 if I ever come back I hope to find better food.

Went on a Wednesday evening for my daughters birthday and was, well, underwhelmed. Everything was only just about OK. The location isn’t great - squeezed in between the casino and uncharismatic new market square at the bus station. You walk in the door it feels like you have come into a store room as you are faced with filed up tables and chairs and the vacuum cleaner - not the most inviting of first impressions. However, our reservation was found and our table waiting. Service was just OK but we were served by three different people and I always seemed to having to catch their attention when we needed something. Not once did anybody come over and ask if everything was OK. Food? We had two pizzas - nothing special and a bit bland and a mushroom risotto which was not nice - made with tinned mushrooms. We weren’t inspired enough by mains to ask for dessert menu and it wasn’t offered. Advice to others looking for a nice meal out in Oxford? There are plenty of other places which are better than “just OK”.

Went for a casual date with my girlfriend and was served by Brando. Food was excellent, easily the best Italian restaurant in Oxford and Brando's table service was simply fantastic. An instant favourite for me, and will be recommending to friends. Thanks!

I’ve walked past this place literally hundreds of times, and now regret not coming in sooner. We received a warm welcome immediately, the service was quick and attentive and the food was amazing.

Authentic Italian food. If you want proper pasta then eat here with confidence. A great alternative to generic chain franchises. Slightly jaded but in a good way.

I’ve dined at this place a few times. Some of their dishes do have some nice flavor, but the food quality has been wildly inconsistent. I’ve had pasta with seafood that had lots of sand, lasagne that was burnt on the bottom, and finally, a “medium-cooked” steak that was raw inside. Given the prices that they charge, I can only say that the food is very disappointing.

We took our Neice out for lunch, she’d been recommended it by friends so was keen to try it. It really didn’t disappoint. If you want authentic Italian food this is the place to go. The pizzas were AMAZING!

Our family had an absolutely wonderful evening at Gino's on Saturday celebrating our son's 21st Birthday. The food was delicious as usual, but the staff went above and beyond to make this a very special occasion. Thank you so much to the whole team.
