We have drove past this place many times and always said we would give it a try - today was the day! We were pleased to see that they have an upstairs area with additional seating which was useful as seating is limited in the main part of the deli. I ordered the chicken pesto melt and my partner ordered the halloumi, harissa and hot honey sandwich with a side of crispy potatoes. We also ordered a vanilla latte and a vanilla iced latte. Both the food and drinks were very tasty and plentiful. The sandwiches arrived toasted with crisps on the side which was a nice addition. We found the menu to include a varied choice of options which swayed away from the generic cafe sandwiches which is always good to see. We will certainly return as the food was good quality and a reasonable price.

We've been regulars since they opened and could not recommend it more. Over the years we've had many delicious meals, coffees and iced drinks as well as sampled many of the local produce on offer. We've also ordered hampers to give as gifts and received gifts from family, all beautifully wrapped. Our spaniel always receives a warm welcome and a treat, and Ginger Whale is always our first choice for a pit stop coffee. Their hot chocolate is one of the best I've ever had and the coffee is deliciously smooth. The pastries are large and plentiful and we can never resist a sweet treat or bottle of something to take home for later. If you haven't visited yet, you absolutely must. Lastly, a huge thank you to the staff who always make us feel so welcome. Amy, Matt & Willow 🐾

By happenstance, I stumbled upon the Ginger Whale while driving through Gomersal, and I'm glad I did. The restaurant's unassuming exterior hides a cozy and inviting atmosphere inside. The menu at the Ginger Whale offered a nice variety of options at reasonable prices. I found the food to be quite tasty, reflecting the care that the kitchen puts into their dishes. It was evident that the ingredients were chosen with thoughtfulness. What truly stood out, however, was the staff and service. The team at the Ginger Whale was attentive, friendly, and genuinely made me feel welcome. Their hospitality added a personal touch to the experience, making it more enjoyable. The upstairs seating area provided a comfortable space to relax and enjoy the meal. The ambiance was inviting and added to the overall positive atmosphere of the restaurant. In conclusion, the Ginger Whale in Gomersal is a pleasant spot to enjoy a satisfying meal in a cozy setting. The combination of good food, reasonable prices, and friendly service makes it a recommendation worth considering. While I'm giving it a rating of four out of five, the positive aspects of the visit certainly outweigh any minor points.

Not sure how this place popped up on my social media but it did and so I've wanted to stop in for some time. Service was lovely and polite. Really cosy feeling place. I got a New York Deli sandwich, a mocha and a pastry that was like a cherry bakewell on a slice of brioche. This was the best mocha I've ever tasted! The sandwich was absolutely delicious and they gave me extra pickle. The pastry I initially thought "What did I get this for there were so many delicious looking things to pick" but then I tasted it and had no regrets! If only this place was a little bit closer to work :-) will definitely be back though

Prior to my first visit at Ginger Whale I had failed to see what the big attraction to gin was???Every time someone mentioned it- I was transported back to my mums Gordon’s gin and toxic of the 1980’sBut after the extremely helpful staff I left with a bottle of Brockmans and several flavoured tonics! I can now say I have visited numerous times and can now understand the gin attraction

Everything is freshly prepared and lovely quality. Last week I pre-ordered a buddha bowl, which was very substantial and wholesome - good value at £6.50.

Attended ginger whale for a family lunch. The food was amazing, staff friendly and welcoming and fantastic gins on offer. The only downside to the visit was that we went for food and left with three bottles of gin- which are all yummy and in a totally different league to the gins you buy in your local supermarket.

Wish I had never walked in to the place, not a smile or any welcome greeting from the staff. I eventually managed to order a sandwich, ham, cheese and tomatoes, the choice is very limited. I kept getting directed to the Tapa Mezze with a Yorkshire twist menu which I did not want! I read through it whilst waiting for my coffee and sandwich......I eat mezze regularly and I enjoy tapas but I didn't get this especially the prices!? I.e. a toasted pitta £1.50 , a pot of 'cheap' tasting coleslaw £1.50? The choice was very unimaginative and uninspiring. Whilst eating my very basic sandwich with a tiny pot of the aforesaid coleslaw it was very interesting to see other regular customers get treat very differently from the way another young couple and I had been upon entering.

Really wanted to like this place but so disappointed each time I have given it a chance. Not welcoming for a small shop, each time I have gone in there’s no hello or ask for help, very off hand. Service with a smile is lost here. The lady Cackled in my face when I asked if tickets were available for the tasting event as if I should of mind read that of course they are all sold out. Came out feeling very upset that I’d asked.

Took a friend for lunch, we wanted somewhere different, so fed up with rubbish pub food. It's a deli with tables, the staff were all lovely and couldn't be more helpful if they tried. I had the greek platter, feta, olives, houmous, cous cous, chilli jam, salad and pitta bread, it was fab ! My friend had the cheese and anti pasti platter, both were freshly made and so good. We'd definitely visit again, it's a brilliant place to shop for unusual gifts too, there's a huge selection of deli items to choose from.

Ginger Whale is a café, but they also have a wide range of low volume produced drinks. Gin is a specialty but they also have a broad selection of wines and specialty beers. On Tuesday's they post a takeaway special. Last week was chicken in a lemon herb sauce or Italian bean casserole. I had the casserole which was very tasty. You can order this for collection to reheat at home, and at £4.95 per portion it is fantastic value. Well worth a visit.

What a lovely cafe/deli quite small but we had a table two adults and a 2.5year old. Very varied menu. lots of nice food to look at cheeses.chutneys, there's a gift section and a wines, beers and spirits section. We had sandwiches lovely and fresh one in a baguette the other in a wrap, the little one had toasted fruit bread that smelt delicious. Homemade soups looked very appetising. Courgette, lime and pistachio cake was so moist. Well worth a visit. Will definitely go again but would maybe advise checking first to see if they have a table or get a carry out and go sit in the park.
