got food poisoning from here-they have obviously changed owners.

Any time feel like take away mainly use this place,decent delivery times also.

Waited over 1.5 hours for the delivery. The meal was barely warm. Ordered salt and chilli veg spring rolls but they were just soggy spring rolls with onions on top, the crispy beef main was poor. Wouldn’t order from there again

Got a beef curry with fried rice waste of £10.20 absolutely disgusting beef curry I have ever had thank god I never ate it went straight in the bucket would avoid this place at all cost when you get poor food

Salt n chili chips an hour and five minutes to get delivered and the food tasted like it had been cooked last year and reheated times over. Disgusting, avoid!

Ordered sweet sour Chicken in Batter, everytime iv ordered this it was the chicken balls but I just got my delivery with little cubes of chicken and overloaded with veg. Portions fit for a small child not an adult. Really annoyed if you don't have the food to make it right just cancel the order. Can't even sort it out on just eat you have to call which I'm not wasting my time with so enjoy this 1 star.

The fried rices are delicious, especially the one with prawns. The chicken wings were cold, poorly seasoned and tasted stale. They almost put me off my whole meal.

Clean bright front and good service delivered. Food was tasty however the side dish of mushrooms was in a thick almost jelly like sauce which was not the best.......why only 3 stars for the food. Free prawn crackers are not given with the order, if you want them remember to add to your order.

Food is horrid, got food poisoning from this place. Was up the next day vomiting. I ordered the bbq ribs, chicken balls, special fried rice and chips. The only thing decent was the chips. Never again

Delicious food at a very cheap prices! Absolutly love the king prawn fried rice, but every dishes are great. Also, nice staffs. Highly recommended❤️

Systems were down so waited over 2 hrs for food that was OK, the woman called and I formed us but when the food finally came curry sauce was wattery no taste, wrong dishes sent out, food lukewarm and salt and pepper prawns came with a box full of unchopped onions,absolute worst chinese we have gotten. Won't be back

I have used Ginger Express a few times but tonight they called me about an order and requested that I pay additional delivery charge putting my overall delivery charge up to £8 for delivery of a Chinese meal. I said I thought £8 delivery was expensive and I was not wanting to pay that much for Delivery. They then spoke to me in a manner that was very attitude filled and basically told Me to contact uber eats and cancel through them and that I'd not be getting my meal if I didn't pay more. On under eats they charge a marketplace fee of £2.96, Then ginger express had a £2.50 delivery fee. On the call from them they asked me for an additional £2.50 to £3 for delivery. This puts the delivery fee total to £7.96 or practically £8.46 You can get a meal for that money. And the attitude to a customer who has used them a few times was neither expected or appreciated. . They have just lost a customer. Shameful.

Absolutely shocking 1.45 minutes for delivery when arrived was freezing cold rice was over cooked told they don't do refunds and would get a replacement like u wanna order again so another hour and a half and still no here

Salt and chilli popcorn chicken and salt and chilli chips had no salt and or chilli on them at all, disappointing as they were nice last time. Beef with black bean sauce and green peppers is very nice. Rice is standard rice so ok. Update 2022 - Tried again a year later, still no seasoning on the salt and chilli chicken or chips!! Come on..

Used to order from here a lot, food was really nice then all of a sudden it went down hill,then the last meal we had gave us bad stomachs,so we've not ordered since

If you are a fan of tofu don't order from here. The tofu salt n chilli was like little bricks and completely inedible. The tofu in sauce isn't much better.

First take away I got was lovely. 2nd was 2 hours wait so I cancelled. Last nights beef chowing was like rubber my friend had egg fu (omelet) and was ill all night. Won’t be using again.

I placed an order at 18:10 and I got told all the drivers were out but they would get the food to me ASAP. At 19:10 I called up to see were the delivery was to be told it was on the way . Then called back at 19:30 as still no food to be told the delivery driver had to goto the petrol station ( with my food going cold in the car ) I received the food at 19:45 freezing cold and it was a total waste of £35 !

Delivery driver takes very long time to finally deliver my food when I’m just 5mins far from the store. If only I’m not ill I’d rather visit the store myself and order food. It’s been showing heading your way for like 40mins , called the restaurant told me the same thing (delivery driver heading your way) Fire your delivery driver if he can’t do his job . Can’t give good service to customers. It’s a shame coz food here is good. Bad service!

I've recently started to order from here and so far the food quality has been excellent. The delivery is top notch too. I've have ribs and wings and Singapore noodles and fried rice and everything has been tasty, fresh and not greasy as can be the normal. I will keep ordering from here and wanted to post a detailed review as it currently has a rating of 3.8 which is way too low.

Delivery driver greeted me with a hearty "Let's get you fed young man", was really funny. Food was great too.

Rang up today got an order girl turned up with no change for 50 note. Now no food have to leave my flat when feeling unwell absolutely shocking. Not impressed after using this place for years might aswell go to lidl much cheaper and no faffing about.

Not our favourite Chinese but I definitely don't believe it deserves such a low score on here. Food was hot when we got it, nothing made us ill, and we managed to eat it all. Overall tasty. You get what you pay for, it was not expensive and to expect anything more at the price range would be unfair. If I'm in the area, I'd order again.

Went in and everyone was coughing and not wearing a mask, the overall hygiene was appalling with various people walking in and out of the kitchen - also whilst coughing. Food was fine, but the hygiene experience, especially at a time like this, was disgustingly bad.

Absolutely dirty takeaway, pets in and out the kitchen, staff blowing their noses outside without tissue and walking back into the kitchen. Food standards need to pay them a visit.

We recently ordered a delivery from Ginger Express. Cannot fault any of it, from ordering to food. Arrived in good time. The food was excellent, great portions and great quality. Stopped here for food on way home from work and so glad I did. Everyone was welcoming, from the girl on the counter to the guys in the kitchen. Maybe it’s the Xmas spirit. They told me that this was the first Wednesday they had been open as usually they close on a Wednesday and believe me, it was busy. Poor girl On the phones never stopped. Order came quickly and OMG, it was delicious, I highly recommend their sweet and sour sauce. Take away was fresh and clean. Also noticed that the delivery guys were disinfecting delivery bags and using hand sanitiser before handling deliveries. Will def go again.

Can never be disappointed with the salt and chilli chips here. Everything its the go to order. I dont understand the bad reviews as it has been running for at least 10 years.

£3.80 for three spring rolls that were all pastry. No filling. One piece of meat in all three, even though I had asked for bigger spring rolls with meat. Worst I have had in a long time. Only food thing was they were hot.

Food was ok but wouldnt order again. Could not get rid off the delivery driver. Opened the door to a friendly big guy and started chatting away then not sure how it happened but he ended up on the arm of the couch talking to my other half about all sorts then to my 8 year old like a baby. Looking back I should have been terrified. Think his names Alex. I'll probably pick up next time.

Our go to Chinese! Fantastic service - speedy and lovely staff. Delicious food, always tasty and exceeds expectations. Would definitely recommend, whether as a special treat or for those days when you don't want to cook! The whole family always enjoys a carry-out from Ginger Express.

I've been going here for approx 10 years now I have tried every Chinese in the area and nothing even comes close to how brilliant the food is here, keep doing what your doing ginger express, love your food!!!

Wow, this was something very special. Noodles - way too much of spices, Rice - shouldn't that be fried with an egg? Cuz this was bland, undercooked and discusting.

We use this takeaway a lot , currys are good the chow meins are a bit dry but everyone likes them different , my only problem is the prawn crackers are always all broken up

I ordered fried wun tuns and beef black bean stir fry. The “wun tuns” are literally fried pieces of pastry - there was nothing in them! The beef dish has been spoiled by something like cayenne pepper - completely inedible. I’m so annoyed I spent the money on this when I never order take away. I’ve had thin fried pastry, plus very salty spicy noodles. Complete crap.

Been many times went on here out of curiosity and saw some questionable reviews. I have never had issues with rude staff or bad food quite the opposite, tastiest ive had here in Edinburgh as well as best value especialy Monday- Thursday with their meal deal. Thanks to all the staff for making such a wide variety of consistantly tasty food :).

Used to go here everytime for a chinese. Nowadays, everytime I eat here I end up waking up vomiting the next day, 7/10 times. Not recommended. As stated before by others, don't let the portion size full you. The food is NOT well made nor hygienic.

Waited an hour and 15 mins for food which was cold and cartons were soggy. Gave them address and post code. Was initially told it would be 40 mins. Called to chase them up and told he was on way. Asked for delivery again and gave them 50 min timescale. Will report on food when/if it arrives.

Bright and shiny but food only average. Got chicken fried rice. Chicken was chunks...prefer when it's shredded like they serve at Hung Fung.

Dnt have chinese very mch, but wen we do we always choose ginger express, but after last night's food, i dnt think we'll b choosing it again, the spicy chicken wings were rank, they'd clearly been reheated n were tough as old boots n veg spring rolls undercooked, i had to put thm in halogen to crisp thm up, sorry but a huge no no frm us, it was awful, which is a shame

The best chilli chips, chicken wings & popcorn chicken I've ever tasted. Quality Singapore noodles & duck wraps. A firm favourite of mine & many of my friends.

We ordered from here last night after friends recommended them. We really don't understand why so many people leave negative reviews, we loved it and our friends love it. Generous portions, well cooked, good prices. We live at the top of Leith which is a fair way from the take away but our food arrived hot and the delivery guy was lovely too.

After a 1 hour 37 min wait the most disgusting soggy cold food arrived! Lumpy curry sauce, congealed chilli beef, chicken fried rice with no veg, seasoning or flavour!! Please save your money and avoid at all costs!

Nice food, good portion sizes. Haven't experienced their delivery as live near. Definitely the best Chinese takeaway on this side of town.

DONT order from ginger express. Ive just tried to order from them. They refused to take my order because I had 20 tokens which I've received due to getting food from there in the past. The manager was very abusive and hung up on myself. When he was asked why I can't use them he just kept on repeating himself. When I rephoned to speak to the manager I had to ask a at least 10 times before he came back on the phone and was yet again very rude. Definitely won't be ordering from them again.

We've ordered from here before and this time the food quality was terrible. We ordered the same dish as last time and it was completely different. The sauce and a plum/beefy flavour but it was meant to be honey chilli sauce.

The food was delicious, however they got our order completely wrong. We got meat variations of dishes we ordered with vegetables... because we’re vegetarians. Real shame as the food we could eat was really good

I order duck and I had more skin then meat! I'm not pleased this time

Absolutely awful, Ordered a meal on a Tuesday , an hour and a half later I called to find out where my food was. I was left hanging on the line,whilst there appeared to be a real carry on in the background. I was told they had a new delivery driver and they didn't know if my meal was on its way to me or not. They didn't know if the driver had his mobile but would try contacting him and .call back. After half an hour I called them and was told they couldn't get hold of the driver and were unable to say if my meal had left the shop. I cancelled the order, as it was now nearly 10pm and I was going to bed! and asked for a refund.I paid through PayPal and three weeks later have had to raise a dispute as no refund has been made.

Realizó un pedido a las 19:30 el sábado 9 de abril. Después de una hora, llamé para averiguar dónde estaba el pedido. Me dijeron que estaba en camino y que estaban muy ocupados. Volvió a llamar y luego a la izquierda colgando del teléfono, esperando que llamaran a su conductor. Tuve que colgar y llamar unas veces. Me dijeron que habían llamado a su conductor 6 veces pero no respondieron. Nos ofrecieron tener la comida gratis debido a la extensa espera. Cuando llegó la comida no era apta para comer. Estaba rancio, frío y la caja donde entraba la comida estaba pasada debido a la grasa en la comida. El pedido llegó a las 9 p.m. El servicio de entrega es el peor que jamás haya experimentado. ¡La comida que recibí fue horrible! ¡Muy mal! Esto podría deberse al pobre servicio de entrega, pero evitaría este lugar en cualquier caso.

Delivery was great and very pleasant delivery driver but unfortunately meal was very poor, could only taste salt.

Staff lost my order so it was very late. Food is excellent and the staff were nice on the phone when they realised their error. Would still order again, mistakes happen.
