Gilt - West Bridgford in Rushcliffe

Me and my partner had a hot chocolate each with cream and marshmallows. Menu states that it’s £4.30 each, so I expected to pay £8.60. Went to pay and ended up paying £9.50?! Can’t even say it was worth it. Tasted like drinking water. Nothing spectacular about it at all. The staff was friendly which is a bonus.

Terrible service, I just left the place because my newborn son couldn't stay in the baby carriage next to our table.

Called in this afternoon for 2 coffees. Went to the counter to pay, £7.60. The girl says it’s £7.70, 10p surcharge for the decaf coffee. Disgusting

I went into this cafe this afternoon with my daughter and 6 month old granddaughter, who was fast asleep in her pram, the waitress came over to us and asked us to deconstruct the pram as they were not allowed, even though my granddaughter was fast asleep, we obviously declined and said we would go elsewhere, I have never heard anything so ridiculous in my life

Just gorgeous, lovely staff, tasty food, nice portions.

We went for brunch, I had the fish and chips and my wife had the veggie bowl. Food was nice, portions generous and staff took time with us. Clean, nice place

Me and my colleagues regularly pop down for breakfast. The food is delicious, always freshly prepared and nicely presented.

The best sandwich ever! We were passing through on a long journey and experienced fast service. The staff were attentive, the atmosphere was nice and my steak sandwich was phenomenal!

Absolutely fabulous food and service for our wedding 1 March. From the first contact, everyone at Gilt was attentive, helpful and supported our (not insignificant) requests. The food was gorgeous, with hardly anything left uneaten. Our guests were very impressed as were we. Cannot thank the team enough or recommend them highly enough! Everyone at Gilt made our special day exceptional!

Came here yesterday for the first time for lunch with a friend. I also had my little boy with me. I can’t praise the place enough! Great service from start to finish. As soon as we arrived the guy came from behind the bar to help with a high chair and helped me with my push chair. The waitresses were really helpful and friendly as my little boy was quite tearful at first. Due to their help he soon warmed to them! The steak sandwich was fantastic and the beer tasted fresh!! Will definitely be back soon. Thanks again

We booked out the top room for my mums 60th birthday and it was really great. The food was really nice, came out exactly when we had asked and the staff were all really great! Shout out to our main bar tender Korbyn for being with us the whole evening! Really great night, thank you Gilt!

Sadly, disappointed today after being a regular Saturday customer especially after recent operations. Ordered a full English breakfast with a poached egg that sadly was hard boiled. Mentioned it to a male waiter who abruptly replied (quite rude) I’ll feed it back to the chef but when they are left under the lights for a while they do go hard and walked off. I would have said sorry sir I will ask the chef to make you a fresh one it will take this amount of minutes - nothing. The female waitresses are absolutely impeccable so kind and caring. Not sure if I heard correctly leaving and the waitress feeding back my comments that the slim male waiter with arm tattoos was rude I’m sure he said has he paid the bill. I will always pay a food bill in restaurants it’s a struggle daily for you so I wasn’t complaining for a cheap fast one breakfast that’s not my style. I also left a tip for the female waitresses who are wonderful.

Service was with a big smile. The choice on the menu is excellent, and prices are great value. When the food arrived, it was freshly cooked and absolutely delicious.

Staff were great, despite difficulties with a customer. A different atmosphere depending on the time you go. A friendly cafe in the day time and a buzzing venue in the evening with sometimes live music

Very busy day when we visited . Atmosphere was great and people were so nice . I rated 4 star for food just because the presentation wasn’t that perfect than I expected . I could have done better .

What an incredible venue with Helpful and devoted staff. Breakfast is amazing and the Guinness even better.

Couldn't quite place this one, popped in for a Guinness, was like 'shown' to a table rather than being able to stand at bar. Felt like too many staff there, waiting around looking for something to do - reasonable place and drink fine, just felt uneasy and a bit odd for a pub/bar - it's currently themed out like an Irish Bar but couldn't be further from it

I had my 40th birthday party in the upstairs function room. Frankie was incredibly helpful and flexible throughout the process. The food was fab, staff were welcoming and friendly and everyone commented on how lovely the room was. Thank you for a great evening 🙏. Would highly recommend!

We hired the upstairs room for a special occasion and wow! We received outstanding service in all area's from the Gilt team, they couldn't do enough for us. Communication via email with Frankie prior to the day was excellent.The allocated team of Jack and Lucy gave a friendly welcome to all our 20 guests, a fast and efficient service was given with all meals, advice and reassurance was there when needed. The evening was a huge success and we highly recommend their venue. Thank you to the 'Gilt Team'.

Visisted Saturday mid morning and had a lovely coffee. Food looked great too. We will continue to use this place over most of the other coffee shops in Bridgford because they still accept cash.

Good food at reasonable value compared to other options on Central Avenue, and given the fact that Gilt is quite a nice/fancy spot in the grand scheme of things Staff were fine but I don’t wanna be your best pal or anything

I’ve visited Gilt on several occasions and the food has always been excellent. Affordable prices, consistent quality and good service make it a great spot for breakfast or lunch. It is also a great spot for a drink in the evening especially outside in the warmer months.

They have policies against women with babies. I get that there are safety needs that might prevent prams being used in the restaurant, but when the resturant is empty at mid morning, it must surely be a discriminatory policy

Came in with friends on a quiet Friday morning for brunch and parked my small pram with sleeping baby against the wall away from any tables or paths through - was asked to leave because they don’t allow prams for safety reasons - after asking what the safety reasons were the waitress wasn’t able to give me an answer and then she said they don’t allow babies at all! She was lovely but I just couldn’t get over the exchange. Very upset and disappointed.

Visited this bar for the first time today. The customer service was brilliant! The staff was so lovely and accommodating to myself and my baby(who is under 1yrs old) As a mum you sometimes feel out of place in certain bars/restaurants but gilt bar really made me feel at ease. Thank you. I will definitely be returning!

Had the Hot Chocolate with extra's was lovely but was tad pricey.

Food is excellent and reasonably priced and when it's warm and sunny the in/outside space is lively and attracts a keen people watching crowd until the sun dips behind the buildings opposite. It's a little cramped and sometime noisy inside but when they have live music on, the vibe is excellent.

Great Service as Always ordered a Club Sandwich which was disapointing good drinks though received full refund apology, Must say this establishment is usually exellent so will be honest perhaps very busy ...and will return ..a nice place to relax.

I came here a lot with my folks for breakfast or hot drinks. The staff are always friendly toward us when we come in. But yesterday (13/12/2023) which I am not happy about. We sat patiently, waiting as we usually do for someone to come to the table to take our order. They were busy, and we sat waiting whilst we were talking. My Mum leaned forward on the seat she was on (a table near the bar with the stairs going up to the next floor behind) to get more comfortable. And was just happening to just be looking around as anyone would normally do. She just happened to look over at the bar where the guy with the tattoo on his arms was. She wasn't trying to get his attention whatsoever, but he thought that she was. He says, "I've seen you alright... I've only got two pairs of hands." Comes over to the table where my folks and I are sitting. The tone of his voice when he said "I can't grow any more arms." He may thought that he was saying that in a jokey way, but it didn't come across that way to us. That really upset my Mum with how he spoke to her like that when she wasn't trying to get his attention. Literally ordered three hot chocolates, had them. My Mum did not say much with how she felt and then paid and just walked out.

Absolutely terrible. Me, my friend and her 6 week old baby decided to visit for lunch today (Wednesday). There were plenty of free tables and we decided on a spot in the corner by the Christmas tree and the bar with the pram tucked away at the side. A barman came over and asked us to fold down the pram and said they didn’t allow prams inside unless they were folded down. My friend explained that her baby was asleep and was 6 weeks old. The man went on to shrug his shoulders and stressed that we would have to fold the pram down as there wasn’t room. There was plenty of room, we were not obstructing an exit. He then asked us what we wanted to do. We both told him that we wouldn’t be folding the pram down and that we would be leaving immediately, his rule was totally ridiculous and downright rude. The level of discrimination shown against a new mum and her tiny baby is absolutely shameful. I wouldn’t recommend this place to my worst enemy, there are plenty of other cafes in the area that don’t discriminate against mothers and babies, please spend your money there instead.

Walked out before we'd even eaten after being spoken to like dirt from a member of staff. Won't be returning. Appalling service.

Alright as a venue but this place is pricey. We desperately need a Spoons to open on Central Avenue to drive down the price of beer.

Wonderful service and great staff. Went for cake and prosecco after wedding reception at West Bridgford Registry Office. Have exclusive use of upstairs room, which was perfect.

Just love this place. Seems to be one of the most popular in town. We do enjoy the type of coffee here but food a little expensive now. A nice seating area out on the pavement albeit a crowded feel at times as it's next to the bus stop.

Great location for breakfast and people watching. Lots of competition but I think this is certainly top 3

Hired the top room for my dad's wake .I cannot pick one fault with anything .you do not find places like this anymore .staff .food .service atmosphere was more than we could ask for everyone commented on just how good it is .a special mention for Jack who went above and beyond to ensure the event went well .a huge thank you to you all

Went to meet friends for a drink and a chat. Had a lovely meal, nice helpful staff, a heat place to meet,eat and chat.

Very nice eggs Benedict but the poached eggs would have been better a little softer. Overall a lovely place.

This a very pleasent place to stop for a break while shopping, lovely friendly staff, but I was disappointed today with my food, they have changed from slices of sourdough bread to what can only be described as a sourdough cob, very thick and unpleasently stodgy, it rolls around the plate when you cut into it because of the crusty base. not a good swap by the mangement. Please have a rethink.

I had my 21st birthday party here and I can honestly say that my experience was brilliant. Lovely staff who went above and beyond to organise and carry out any request and made it the best party I could ask for. Perfect room upstairs which created a lovely atmosphere. I would highly recommend this place. A huge thank you to everyone at Gilt :)

Food is lovely. Anyway today I had something missing in my meal which I have told to young lady she was serving me. The answer from her was oh ok. At least she could say sorry about it.

When I look back on my life when I'm an old man, I can definitely say "I went to Gilt and it was good". Whilst that won't be the epitaph on my gravestone, I stand by the fact that Gilt was good. Staff were friendly, and the music eclectic (walked in the Kraftwerk's The Model) and great selection of beers. Nice. You should go. It's good.

We ordered the halloumi fries, salmon and spinach omelette, and a prawn sandwich. The omelette was the worst omelette I've ever had. My 5 year old could make a better egg. It was incredibly tasteless and bland. I do not recommend, 1/10. The halloumi fries were alright, I guess. The prawn sandwich was just a cheap tasting, deep fried prawn sandwich. Nothing special. But £9 for a sad, tasteless omelette is just absurd. Not to mention the iced latte...0/10. I will say that the staff were lovely and the atmosphere was very nice and welcoming. Basically, if you're an ethnic person, STAY AWAY from this place. It's not for us!

Very busy, had to wait outside for a table for 4,after an about half an hour people getting seated straight away while we were still waiting, went in to pay for drinks and asked about it,was told that because they were busy they couldn't keep an eye out for empty tables it was up to us to find 1, won't be going there again!!

I held my 30th birthday celebrations/party here, hired the top floor for 30 friends. We had our own space, bar, outside area and toilet. It was more than we could have asked for and just felt like the perfect venue! Staff were fantastic and couldn’t help us enough. Multiple friends commented on how perfect it was. Massive thank you to all the staff for being so accommodating and just generally brilliant. I’d recommend to anyone wanting to host a celebration. Thanks so much guys!

Glass of Rioja and Brie, Mushroom and Stilton Soup and a coffee - very pleasant lunch , good service and reasonably priced at £20.

Didn't eat, was a flying visit for a cocktail but all the food sounded very nice! Cafe/bar aside, could use some sofas or some comfier seating but did not see the whole area so there may have been some tucked away. Cocktails were perfect, well made, delicious and when we asked about the ingredients the staff were very knowledgeable 😊

I have been walking past this place ever since it has opened but never ventured to enter the establishment. A friend of mine recommended it for our long overdue catch up. There is table service. The place has lots of seating inside and some are outside as well. I only had a latte but there is a lot of yummi sounding food on the menu, too. It was just not that sort of a meeting. The service was polite and efficient and the coffee was nice. Now, the only thing that is not my type are the people who frequent the place - equally I may not be their cup of tea either. But hey. I may return to try the food when the weather is nicer. I will post an update then. :-)

Lovely food, portions and atmosphere. Very busy when we went on. Saturday lunch,but managed to walk in a get a table forn6 if us which we were very Happy about.

Horrible customer service! No acknowledgement whatsoever when I walked in with my kid, then told me to find my own seat, I couldn’t see any downstairs so I had to carry my kid upstairs but it’s full upstairs, when we came back down, another couple walked in and was shown to a seat by the same staff who told me to find my own seat! We left and will not be coming back again, if you’ve got kids make sure you don’t go there, visit Portello instead, they are kid-friendly and staff are always nice.

Great cocktails, however... First I'll set the scene, we arrived at 11:14pm, they close at midnight, and they have an extensive cocktail menu. One of us ordered an Old Fashioned, the barman rolled his eyes, we then ordered a further 2 cocktails and a pint of beer. The barman then reluctantly started making said cocktails after glancing many times at the clock, while labouring the point that he really didn't want to make them. He thrust the card machine at me half way through (he had a plan). So I paid and we waited at least 10 minutes while he made the cocktails (which were delicious). I quote "I like an old fashioned, but I wouldn't order one half an hour before closing". Once he had really dragged out making the two longest old fashioneds I've ever seen being made, he slyly muttered "next time tip your barstaff". Well... Next time, if you don't complain about having to make cocktails when you're a barman, and actually give us chance to add a tip to the card payment then you might get a tip! Great cocktails, terrible barman

Went for coffee with a group of friends. All felt a bit rushed, hadn't even sat down before we were being asked what drinks we wanted. Weren't offered any menus or even asked if we wanted cake with our coffee. I saw some nice cakes on way in and would have bought a slice. Coffee was nice.

Disappointed that I was unable to book a table for 8 people on a Monday at 2pm. Apparently the policy is no lunchtime booking. Clearly Gilt is making enough money to turn away a booking for 8 people. Fortunately, there are plenty of other places to eat on the avenue.
