We called in today for lunch and I would just like to thank the member of staff who came to my assistance on two occasions. On the first occasion I accidently spilt a bottle of water over my clothes and the table and despite being very busy working hard, she came to help by helping me to dry and to dry our table. Then on the second occasion she noticed my face was bleeding and she came to help and brought me tissues to dry it with. We did not get the ladies name but we would like to thank her for her consideration and kindness. Her courtesy and kindness should be recognised and applauded. Thank You Anthony Major and Tula Tew

Stopped by for jacket potatoes and wasn't disappointed. Great, pleasant service. Jacket potatoes were freshly cooked, on the large side, and were brought to our table. A range of toppings were available. We chose tuna mayonnaise and garlic chicken. They came with a simple but fresh side salad of iceberg lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Toppings had quite a bit of mayo. At £5.75 each they were really good value for money. A nice Americano coffee with hot milk. Great lunch stop. Thank you

Called into today for a meal with my wife and had Mince and dumplings peas and chips and Pie and chips including tea and a small coke £18.60. The dumpling was like a rock, the mince was cheap and tasteless but consumed the chips. The Pie must have been reheated several times as it was also horrible. For £18.60 did expect something more acceptable! but needless to say we will not be back!

I went to this cafe for an afternoon coffee and cake with my mam on the 6/11/19 Which I have done lots of time and enjoyed the staff are lovely. I was struggling with my bag and purse as I have a few health issues. and to get the correct money out i was struggling .I held 50p in my lips for a second ( no slaver) which to my knowledge I don’t usually do. To my horror the man who served me at the till turned around got some blue paper placed it in his hand to receive the money . I was so embarrassed and shocked he made me feel so bad and that I was dirty . I don’t think it’s a way to treat customers . And won’t be going back!! and I know I shouldn’t have pinched the 50p in my lips. But he handles money all day which have lots off germs on them . He made me feel so bad and the lowest of the low.

My mam likes this place because it's cheap. It's certainly always busy. The food is basic but portions are a good size. There are plenty of tables including outside of the main cafe where you can watch shoppers as you eat.

So having selected which dirty table to sit at we removed dirty plates and cutlery to a smaller table and waited in the queue. My father in law ordered first and ordered cheese sandwiches for our girls. When he came back I ordered for us. Woman behind got served first as lady “didn’t see me”. Hard to see a 16 stone 6 foot 2 guy who was first in line!!!Wife waited 20 mins for a cheese and onion toastie and I got my “panini” slightly after. We were then accosted by a waitress who asked us if we paid for the cheese sandwiches and when I showed her the criminal £24.80 receipt she points to the manager and says “he made me come over and do the dirty work”. Seriously... no organisation, shouting ticket numbers and “WHO ORDERED CHIPS” across packed tables. Shambles.

I decided to have a morning coffee, last Friday. Coffee and service was good. Can't fault member of staff who served me. Very pleasant girl. Some of the other staff looked has if they are eating a lemon. The only draw back is the toilets, not very clean. I went to use the toilet, and found no disabled one. Their was a woman beside the office seating on a chair trying to change her babies nappy. She said they don't have any baby changing room. Think this issue should be addressed, people in restaurant who were eating could see this. Not very nice for the person doing the changing and people eating.

Pleasant place to visit for lunch not a vast menu but enough choices to decide from, slightly more expensive thin I would have liked for the quality.

Do not know how they do it but their scones are to die for especially the savoury ones and my particular favourite cheese and broccoli they become addictive! Vast choice of flavours but beware they quickly sell out. Worth a trip to the Galleries just for the Gillies scones.

Had to visit here whilst shopping in the galleries my husband aunt recommend it as she travels on 2 buses every week just for their scones. So was staying in Washington so popped in for tea and a delicious homemade scone still warm from the oven and def worth a visit if you're in the galleries!

The recent refurbishment of this cafe at the heart of the galleries has been successful. The food remains honest good value food. It is not a resturant but the food offered is of a good quality. It a buffet type with a decent choice.

Went in at just after 11 was told option was pre packed sandwiches all had salad on so that was a no. Or breakfast so very very dry and sausages were not any quality. Opted for a large Pepsi £2 for it is more expensive than anywhere else in galleries for same size drink. Staff were rude and tables crammed in but still folks bring in shopping trolleys.

Was out at the galleries with my mam when we wanted to stop for lunch and we choose to stop at Gillies there is a large menu with lots for everyone's taste. It was very busy but plenty of seats. We both enjoy sandwiches and share a scone. There were some unusual scones such as cheese and broccoli. Staff were friendly and everywhere was clean. Would go back again when I'm back at the galleries.

This has to be the worst kind of fishbowl ever. I was invited there and it will be my first and only vist. I cannot fathom why anyone would want to sit here and relax when been constantly passed outside by a throng of shoppers. The busy corner is wide open to the gaze of the Washington Galleries shopping faithful. Even when you are inside the layout leads itself to a constant stream of customers and staff passing in front and behind you.It is deeply uncomfortable . And yet some people seem to like it.

My wife had suggested a trip to "The Galleries" in Washington to do a bit "Early Springtime Shopping" as she called it (Yes spring cleaning time is just around the corner). So off we went, now me being a person who doesn't like shopping on an empty stomach decided that before we set off on that endless trek round the shops we have a little breakfast, so we called at Gillies. I opted for the full breakfast whilst my wife opted for the 5 items of your choice at £ 2.85. We were both pleased with what we got as all the food was hot and tasty, however, one word to the wise when ordering your cup of tea don't do as I did and order 2 teas, as the pot you get for one person is more than enough for 2 people to share unless you like lots of tea. It seems to be a busy medium sized café/restaurant especially around lunchtime. We'd arrive at about 11.15am and lunch service doesn't start until 11.30am but by 11.25am the place had become very busy with a lot of people waiting at tables for the lunches to start.

Unfortunately the bar service here has deteriorated massively. It must be costing the company a fortune. Had my friends not already ordered I would have left. Behind the bar were a number of staff but only 2 were serving customers at the bar. The remaining staff were all working at the bottom of the bar dealing with app orders. It's a very long bar and with only 2 staff working it they did not know who was next. People would walk up to the bar long after you'd stood there , and be served. I would have used the app myself but couldn't get a signal in the bar. Unfortunately the 2 staff serving were also extremely slow, despite there not being much of a queue. We waited ages to get served when there wasn't many people waiting, so on a busy night I wouldn't even bother. If you don't have the app or it's not working properly I'd give this bar a miss. It looked like a lot of other people felt the same as this once busy bar was noticeably quiet for a weekend night. Whoever is in charge of the bar needs to sort out proper training for the staff. I've never experienced service as bad as this in any other wetherspoons I've been in. If at all possible, use the app or you'll lose the will, watching other customers stroll to the bar while you wait, wait then wait some more

Called in for a couple of drinks as our cruise ship was alongside in Scrabster. Really quaint bar, lovely pint of Belhaven Best and my wife enjoyed her pino grigio. Two really pleasant young women behind the bar and friendly locals. 100% recomend this bar if you are in town. Thanks for making us feel welcome.
