I’m disgusted by the way I was treated here today. I went in for a cake and a coffee, and when I asked if this was possible I was told by a patronising waitress “yes, but it’s table service.” - well, obviously. I picked out what I wanted and we were told to wait to be seated, absolutely fine. Walked over to the waiting area, turned around and saw the two women I’d spoken to blatantly talking about me and laughing. I think the service of the two women here was absolutely appalling. I will never be returning, they must learn some manners. Disgraceful behaviour if you ask me.

Delicious food, lovely staff, great place overall. We had the small and full English breakfasts. They were cooked to perfection for us

Called for breakfast with the family. Big choice variety and probably the best quality food breakfast on offer. They do lovely lunches as well. The place is spotlessly clean and the staff are very polite and friendly.

usually we have a great experience at Gillhams, but today was not that day, staff were miserable, didn't even make an attempt to smile, or a hello, the lady got a couple of menus threw them on a table and said(there), the food was ok, my panini was burnt, coleslaw was not the best we have had here, on departing still no smile or have a good day or thank you, just cash or card, will not be returning for some time, which i feel bad about, as we have in the past recommended this place to others

Lovely coffee shop with a wide range of choice. I had a turkey & cranberry wrap which was very well stuffed (the same for my husbands ham wrap). The service was great would highly recommend a visit.

I never do reviews but I felt I had to for our visit here, I have had some breakfasts in my time but this one one probably the best we,ve ever had, absolutely delicious ❤️❤️❤️

Always a great experience at Gilhams, we enjoy the warm atmosphere and delicious food. Staff were friendly and helpful. Our jacket potatoes were delicious although as my cheese was melted (I had no preference between melted or Grated on this occassion) the top half of my potato was burnt and the bottom part was then difficult to cut. Nonetheless, I ate most. The size of the salad and Coleslaw portions are generous - the price is justified when you consider the add-ons. One downside was the smell of industrial glue from outside the premises. This can't be helped by the eatery but they could have closed the door and window at least.

The food is always lovely, always high quality ingredients. The staff are helpful & friendly. As a local to this area I'm positive this is the best breakfast anywhere in the town. Nice selection of food & deserts available on the deli counter also

Absolutely fantastic, friendly service, quality produce used to fill baps and baguette, nice brew too. Really couldn't ask for more. Although quite busy service was prompt due to plenty of people serving and all as pleasant as each other. Fabulous 👌

I went to Gillhams in Oswestry with my wife, on the recommendation of others on Tripadvisor and we were not disappointed. The staff are so friendly and helpful, the food was delicious. I had a special, a sausage panini with cheese and caramelised onions, (great recommendation) and my wife had a simple bacon sandwich, both were excellent. The coleslaw is also to die for. We will definitely return when we are passing through Oswestry.

Regularly visit on a Monday after the gym . The staff are always friendly and efficient , the place is clean and has a nice atmosphere. The food is good homemade and tasty. Would highly recommend

Called in for coffee and lunch for my 2 yr old granddaughters, staff were lovely and welcoming with the children, the food was high quality and the cafe is comfortable. All staff were lovely and helpful would definitely recommend and call again.

If you like homemade type pies - Gillham's is the place to go - so much choice and very good quality - all nice and clean. Selections of pate and quiches - tea shop at rear or buy to go.

Gillhams delicatessen is such a lovely place to shop and eat. We thoroughly enjoyed the full English breakfasts on both days during our stay in Oswestry. Others had scrambled eggs and the most delicious smoked salmon, the sausages are amazing. Delicious cappuccino. Everything so fresh and the staff cannot do enough for you. They are so professional and happy in their work obviously as so pleasant and smiling. The decor is lovely. Spotlessly clean throughout. What a treat to exit past the delicatessen counter, stopping for a selection of the treats on show, pies, sausage rolls, cheese selection and the cooked meats are absolutely delicious. Everything so fresh. We all left with a box of treats. Can't wait for our next trip to Oswestry, when Gillhams is top of our list.

Stopped off here and had breakfast which was amazingly tasty. Never seen egg yolks as golden and fresh. Lovely. Nice thick freshly sliced toast as well. No expense spared on quality here. We will be back. Well Done Gillhams!

Have used this cafe over many years, always quality food and super staff. The buffet they provided for my daughter's wedding reception was exceptional. But todays' breakfast was very possibly heated up from the day before. Waitress slammed the plates on the table saying they were hot, but they were cold. Unhelpful member of staff at the counter who's lack of patience suggested she wasn't suitable to be working with the public. Bread served up with the breakfast was stale. Whatever has happened?

Stopped to buy a pie and quiche - everything home made. Cakes are fabulous and best Eccles cakes ever. Right in the heart of town and well worth a vissit even if to take home.

Tried this place for breakfast as the menu on the website said they did small cooked breakfasts and it looked a nice place. On arrival was told they were only doing bacon/sausage rolls to go - the bacon/sausages were all out under a hot lamp. When I queried that their website said otherwise they said all they could do was a breakfast in a box to go despite it raining heavily outside. They clearly weren't interested in me as a customer so I went elsewhere.

My sister found out that Gillhams are doing a Afternoon Tea, for delivery. She rang and ordered, the staff were friendly. She added a sausage roll and pork pie. The afternoon tea was delivered to my parents, who live in Oswestry. It was my Dad's birthday. They loved it, a choice of four sandwiches, scones jam and clotted cream and a multitude of cakes and pastries as well as tea bags. They said the quality was fantastic, but knowing Gillhams, that was a no brainer. Thank you for your service.

We had afternoon tea delivered as a surprise from our daughter and son in law today. Everything was lovely and I would highly recommend.

Great place to stop for a cuppa and deli type shop at front - fabulous selection of home bake type cakes, amazing sausages rolls and pies.Great selection of "not run of the mill items" and quiches taste awesome.Well worth popping in to purchase a pie.

Lived here 18years have used the deli for years and has always been great, good quality items, great choice and range and good prices .....but have only just been to the restaurant and oh wow what can I say!!...I was blown away!...service exceptionally good, very polite and efficient, super quick, went above and beyond, nothing too much trouble, food lovely, portions huge, good value for money, great choice...liked it so much, ..I’ve been back 3 times in the last couple of weeks. Always have a great breakfast/lunch here. The guy that serves us is always courteous. The Deli is great as well, with paninis to cheeses, and a wide selection of cold meats.

If your visiting Oswestry Gillhams is a must place to visit for an excellent lunch you can’t go wrong, friendly staff, excellent quality food, great value form money, Chicken tikka curry highly recommend, Very good menu with large variety of quality foods available.

My previous visit was disappointing but my recent visit was excellent. The food was delicious & the service outstanding on a busy Saturday. The staff were all helpful, smiling & keen to provide an efficient service, especially Harry. He’s a star - constantly communicating with the customers which is missing in so many places these days. To all the staff thank you for a lovely lunch & keep it up. I can’t wait to visit again & I’ll be telling all family & friends to visit.

We’ve been here a few times and enjoyed coffee and cake, but today we got there early and were set on having a full cooked breakfast. It was absolutely great! Lovely quality produce, hot food on hot plates. The young man that served us was very efficient and had a lovely friendly way about him. Would definitely recommend Gillhams without hesitation. It will certainly be our go-to breakfast destination in Oswestry.

Called in today, to escape the rain, and have a nice cuppa etc. It turned out to be a good choice, food and beverages first class. Must say the service was excellent, carried out by a young lady working her first day. Well done you!

Really lovely friendly cafe and much larger than you think. Great service and all food cooked to order cheese on toast was the best and generous salad and coleslaw portions. Great coffee

Everytime we are in the area we go to Gillhams for the pate - tastes awesome.

I (with Hubby in tow) had a quick browse around here yesterday (Wednesday). It is located on Church Street (Festival Square end). It was narrow inside with a clean cafe area at the back. There was a tempting selection of pies, pasties and pastries on the deli counter. I liked how the jars of preserves & condiments were lined up neatly on the shelves. I didn't purchase anything on this occasion.

My husband and I have gone here several times but this time I went with my sister in law. She had a black coffee which she said was really good. I had tea which was really good and I'm very picky with tea!! They try to use local foods whenever possible. Their sausage is really tasty in the cafe part but they don't sell it at the deli up front. Great place to eat.

Popped in for a last minute lunch good selection on menu , not overly big portions ,for a mid day break it was fine, would of been more pleasant if it was service with a smile ,.......I chose ploughman’s which was more like a cheese salad, couple of slivers of cheese, 1 pickled onion, slice of apple,,about a quarter of a slice ham ,the fresh crusty bread turned out to be a slice from an un-cut loaf very fresh and tasty but not what I expected for a ploughman’s but with saying that for the price it was fine .

Visited Gillham's twice this last weekend Sunday 1/9/2019 and had coffee and poached egg's on toast very quick to arrive on a HOT PLATE , very good no complaints.

Decided to have a light lunch with a friend. I had the homemade soup, my friend had a jacket potato. It was delightful, plenty to fill you up, and tasty.

Gillhams have the best home made type pate - home made pate is amazing, sausage rolls and pies are the best in town - not run of the mill and taste awesome - well worth a try if in the area.

The front of Gillhams is a delightful deli with quality food and own brand sauces and jams.

You walk in and smell the food. The scones were absolutely amazing frech cream and jam although are eyes were bigger than out bellys we had sausage on toast and out come the biggest toasted sandwiches you have ever seen.

It's been a few years since the last time we called here. Called in for a snack/ light lunch. Seated in the front part of this delightful deli, the back room seemed full. Placed our order for food and drink. Served straight away with the drinks and a few minutes later our food arrived. I ordered the beef toasty and my wife had the cheese and tomato wrap served with a salad and a few crisps, we then decided to have a scone with butter and a small pot of jam. Service was prompt and staff were keen to make sure all was ok. Certainly we will call again.

Ended up going for lunch today. We were very impressed with the food,the cleanliness and the efficiency,friendliness of the staff. There was a lovely atmosphere. I brought some goodies ( a pie and scone) home for my husband all he said about them was " stunning". Thankyou.

The staff were friendly from the start and seated us in a comfortable corner position. They took our order rather sharpish and had our food out within 15 mins (even though they were pack because of the poor weather conditions!) Staff were asking how the food was on multiple occasions and customised our meals to our preferences! The food was extremely enjoyable and we received decent portions.

Fabulous selction of pies and sausages rolls - home made type and all different flavours. Always pop in here when we are in the area. Quiches are amazing. Great selcetion of cakes too. Pate is awsome and a must try.

Fantastic local business. Great selection of baguettes or baps to take away for a reasonable price. Eating in, large portions including salad, coleslaw and crisps with the sandwiches. Never a long wait and great service.

Lovely bakery/cafe. I had bacon and cheese quiche, hubby had cheese on toast. Both came with a lovely side salad, pringles and coleslaw. Good choice of cakes and tray bakes for dessert. Staff very friendly.

I visited with my daughters. The service was poor and the waitress not at all friendly.my first order was unavailable so I had a Bombay potato roll. It was described as coming with side salad, coleslaw and crisps. What it actually had was shredded lettuce, a teaspoon of coleslaw and TWO pringles! We were going to order cakes but gave up before then. Won’t be returning.

I had a fabulous pork, sage and chilli sausage roll, with coleslaw and crisps and a good portion of side salad.

Good to see they are serving breakfasts on Sunday's. It made our day. Well, the last three Sunday's if the truth be know. Amazing full English cooked breakfast. Superb poached eggs, bacon and sausages were very good. The toast is delicious. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed every mouth full. Hot, fresh and cooked to perfection. Very large portions too. Eaten here many times and never been disappointed. Lovely friendly staff.

Lovely welcoming shop frontage enticed us all in. The window display was amazing. Staff very friendly. Great menu selection with locally produced items. Very tasty, looking forward to our next visit already.

Been here many times. They have recently extended the seating which feels a little cramped when it's busy. The food is really really nice (and plentiful!). They do specials and also a little more interesting stuff like Stilton and mushroom ciabatta which is scrumptious. I'm personally not vety jpkeen on the coffee here so tend to have a hot chocolate which is very nice - can be a little expensive if just popping in for A quick lunch but the quail of the food is what you are paying for. A nice change from the quick eat and go and nice to have lunch with a friend lasting a little longer.

Popped in to pick up some hot beef baps and sausage rolls for lunch. The beef was the nicest I have ever tasted and melted in my mouth it was so tender. The sausage rolls are very special too. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I have been in previously for coffees and cold sandwiches off the deli and again cannot fault the service.

We always receive wonderful food when we visit, with excellent quality and huge portions. Thank you.

So we stayed here is Oswestry for 2 nights. A little stop over coming back from working in Ireland, via the ferry at Fishguard. Didn't book breakfast in hotel. Went to wetherspoons the first morning for brekkie cos you know it will be open. Had a toasted teacake here in the afternoon which was lovely. Was close to the hotel and since it opened at 8am and we wanted to get on our way we dropped in for breakfast at 8. OH had scrambled eggs on doorsteps of freshly toasted bread. Nice when you get eggs not cooked in the microwave and I had full English. Lovely brekkie. Generous portions. Delicious local sausage and bacon plus egg, hash brown, tomatoes and mushrooms. Bought a freshly baked loaf too from the counter. Would definitely recommend Gillham's for breakfast at half the price of a hotel breakfast and superb quality compared to wetherspoons. Plus I like to try local independent cafes when we are away

Stopped in by chance passing through Oswestry. Family of four and four good lunches. Homemade chicken and red lentil curry was lush. Large well baked jacket with coronation chicken. Brie and bacon panini and a child's wrap. Very well filled plates with salad and coleslaw.

Visited Saturday lunchtime with my wife. A good selection of food on the menu and large portions too. The seating area is quite large although a bit tight in parts. The staff are nice and friendly and the service is fast.

We have had lunch here a few times and it has always been nice so decided to pop in one Saturday for breakfast . My initial reaction was at £7.40 for full breakfast albeit that included a hot drink it was a little expensive .

Had a spare 40 minutes and popped in for a quick snack, my daughter had a chocolate milkshake and a flap jack I had a pot of tea and a scone all homemade and tasted as good as they looked! There was lots to choose from will definitely be going back.

Heard very good reports, but I was disappointed with the slow service, cold food and rock hard bread 😑 The cafe was half full, but we all seemed to be on top of each other. Could do with some rejigging.

Visiting for lunch, the venue seemed very busy. It’s quite hectic as a result and with tables located quite close together it’s perhaps not the most relaxing place for lunch. The menu is pretty standard fare for this type of day time cafe.

I have been visiting Gillhams for years but the past few visits have been really disappointing. The paninis were rock hard with overcooked fillings and tasted bland. It seems to be lacking an atmosphere. Also slow service and it was quiet for a Friday lunch ! Hoping things improve as it is a lovely place to eat normally.

Sells the best home made steak pies and sausage rolls - slightly more expensive than other shops and cafes but you get what you pay for.

Called in for the first time on our recent visit to Oswestry. We settled for a light lunch which was excellent, and certainly not light on portion size.

I always go here when passing for my lunch as good choice of fresh and homemade food. The deli sausage are always excellent with many flavours to choose from. The sandwiches and jacket potato have never let me down with a wide range of fillings. To finish the lunch off the cakes are also lovely too. You can eat in or get a takeaway.

Having avoided this place for years, I discovered how wrong I had been. Prejudice was owing to having bought something from the shop that was not comme il faut (in 2007, I hasten to add!)

We had a delicious lunch, with very friendly service and tasty homemade food. The deli at the front is excellent, and we will definitely pay the cafe another visit next time we visit Oswestry.
