Giggling Squid in Wycombe

Our first time at Giggling Squid in Marlow. Lunch for two and our total bill was about £77. We ordered the chilly & salt squid, duck spring rolls, Tom Yum fried rice, Chicken & Prawn pad Thai and the Drunken Ribs. I also ordered a medium glass of South African white wine.The squid is excellent.

Unhappy staff. What’s changed ?? I have been coming here for years and usually staff are always cheerful. For some reason, not a smile in the house at the last two visits. There was always a survey at the end too. That’s stopped. Maybe linked. Food still good but unhappy staff being down the atmosphere. It’s like they don’t want to be there. This needs fixing. Something is making your staff unhappy!

Yui was amazing and made the evening special for my mothers birthday meal, I can recommend!

We’ve dined at this restaurant many times and wanted to return last week for a birthday celebration. We couldn’t fault the service and food last week. The ladies that served us were lovely and friendly, very smiley and happy to please. The food we ordered was great too, and the waitresses were wonderful with our daughter. Sadly this manner wasn’t repeated with the front desk staff who barely greeted us on arrival, and ushered us to our table. After mentioning we were celebrating a birthday that very day, they ignored this and went on to tell us about the menus, then left. We were all a bit shocked with the behaviour and were glad to speak to the friendly waitresses. We didn’t bother repeating that we were there to celebrate… but it was rather disappointing.

Fabulous venue with superb food & service. Highly recommended. Watch your head as you go in! Try the sharing starters & berry cooler for sure. Heading back soon!

Absolutely love Giggling Squid in Marlow! The food is always fresh and full of flavour – the Green Thai Curry (both veg and chicken) is a personal favourite. The staff, all ladies, are super friendly, attentive, and make the whole dining experience feel special. Great variety of drinks and the atmosphere is perfect for a relaxed meal out. I highly recommend trying their Pad Thai—it’s absolutely amazing! I’ve had Pad Thai from many different places, but the one at Marlow truly stands out as one of the best. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve come back just for it. The staff are incredibly friendly, especially the Manager and Am. They always go the extra mile to ensure I have the best experience every time. What really sets them apart is how well they know their menu—they’re confident, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the food they serve. If you’re looking for great Thai food and warm, attentive service, this place is a must-visit!

The Food at the Giggling Squid has really deteriorated recently. I went last Christmas and had awful food and just thought it was a one off. Went again a few days ago and sad to say the food was just as bad. Overcooked massman curry which tasted like no other massman curry I have ever had…and I eat Thai a lot. It was like a thick, overcooked tomato ish stew.. Slimy pad Thai noodles, overcooked duck roll..tasteless rice.. Thai is supposed to be light, fresh and wonderful flavours. They seem to be slow cooking everything with soggy vegetables.. They seem to have changed their recipes..I have been going for fifteen years and I am really sad to be writing this..it was one of my favourite restaurants. I will not be going back.

We had lovely lunch with friends and all chose from the lunch set menus… lots of empty plates…. Lots of choice so we will be back.

Average at best, Thai green beef curry, felt watered down and mild heat, beef tasted bland, cooked out of the sauce and under seasoned. Filled out with huge veg chunks. Disappointed and £50 lighter. Staff were lovely and welcoming though.

I really like this restaurant and the food is great quality and I have been going there since 2018. For the first time I ordered take away two days ago . Prawn red curry £14.95 and I had to play "find the prawns" . Eventually found them ..2 prawns . Come on Giggling Squid you are better than this to charge 14.95 and send two prawns or were you having a giggle at my expense?

the service was really good and the food was incredible i got a stir-fry and it was so delicious!!! thanks so much to the waitress who was really patient with my friend as her card kept declining she was so sweet!

Do not order deliveries from restaurants using deliveroo or any off those services. I went to the restaurant which was lovely. Then ordered a delivery weeks later. it was awful. How knows what happened. I'm sure it was the delivery service. It was over an hour late. Deliveroo is run by migrants. Horrible .

As with all Gigglings, the food was excellent. We had the tapas lunch selection and it was lovely. Service was fine, but a bit abrupt, decor is usual GSquid, so very pleasant, we were stuck round the back so a bit detached. All in all, no reason not to go.

Food not great, sauce very runny and lack of taste in some meals. Was expecting to be ‘wowed’ but sadly underwhelmed. Will not be returning, feel a bit let down.

Really good meal out with friends at Giggling Squid Marlow. Warm welcome, good atmosphere, great service and excellent, well presented food. We had Sticky Chicken and Chicken and Beef Massaman Curries . Overall a highly recommended place to go. We will definitely be coming back. Five ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Interesting response to my feedback - very defensive. To think 5 prawns for £15.99, and that you see that as acceptable , says it all really. It’s disgustingly poor value for money but it seems you don't accept that. C’est la vie! Amazing that your response suggests your prawns are imported all the way from Thailand - really? Perhaps if they were sourced from North West or East Atlantic or North East Arctic, from fisheries off the east coast of Canada, western Greenland or the Norwegian fisheries of the Barents Sea, you might be able to be more generous when it comes to quantity - quality by the way is excellent. I don’t think your criticism of Wetherspoons Marlow is a good look - don’t criticise your next door competitors, instead go and enjoy their FRESHLY prepared food, FRESHLY sourced too despite your derogatory comment. Today I went to Waitrose at Handy Cross and amongst my purchases was a Prawn Cocktail £4.25 - 8 succulent prawns (from Honduras I think - surely no less costly than sourcing from Thailand?). Your response is defensive, hardly accepting that your offering is poor value for money. I guess you won’t change your approach because you are a national chain with profit margins to uphold and the vast majority of your customers won’t share their feedback - they will simply talk with their feet, which is what so many of our friends in Marlow have done. Life is about choices - I hear you saying that. My choice is not to be ripped off again by Giggling Squid in Marlow.

I hadn’t realised that prawns were so expensive for a national chain to purchase, until I bought a takeout Massaman Curry from Giggling Squid in Marlow at a cost of £15.99 (without rice!) and when I got home I was greeted by 5 prawns, overflowing liquid , three pieces of carrot and five pieces of potato. I know Marlow residents are thought of as well to do and as a result, some local providers clearly see the opportunity to take advantage. Was I one of those or perhaps there were no more prawns in the fridge. In case of need I have taken photos to illustrate. So bitterly disappointed. No wonder Wetherspoons (almost next door) is overflowing with guests whose expectations are regularly exceeded.

It great for an intimate meal or one to share with the family, we have been many times and have never had a bad experience. The staff are great and the food is superb and it is great value for money

Came here with 3 work colleagues, we had Thai salad with sticky rice, fried squid, squid bits and money bags. Mains were pad khee mao x2, red curry and the steak. The food was excellent and the staff were really attentive, as usual ( our waitress was ‘nong Khwan). I am Thai and really appreciate the giggling squid using authentic herbs and produce consistently. This is what sets them apart from other Thai restaurants, the food really does taste like “home” and the most authentic in my opinion. When I can tear myself away from ordering the additive pad khee mao, salt and pepper squid and papaya salad, the jungle curry is top notch too. Don’t miss out on the Thai red tea -hmmmm.

Had a lovely meal out for two at Giggling Squid in Marlow. Atmosphere inside is really nice and the interior is really clean and has some really cool features. As for the food...wow! We had one of the sharing platters to start, then slow cooked beef panang with sticky rice and a king prawn pad Thai. All of it was so fresh and tasty! Portions are perfect...couldn't manage a desert haha. Maybe the two large bottles of Chang beer didn't help but it goes does a treat with the curry! Overall this is a lovely restaurant, great atmosphere and really friendly service! Been a couple times now and will keep going back, will 100% recommend the Giggling Squid, Marlow :) Booking on weekend is a must!

Delicious food and nice place. Service is wonderful, especially Kwan is the best. It's the first visit for my friends, they love the food and have a wonderful time too.

This was my first visit. I was passing and came in the rainy evening in Marlow. Came in on my own and got a nice table by the window. I ordered Papaya salad, Crispy Squid Bits, Caramelised Pork Belly and Coconut Rice. All starters apart from the rice. I got real nice surprise of the portions, very generous. Food was amazing, very tasty, love the flavours. Pork was very tender, just writing about it I would love to have more. The staff was very friendly. I took leftovers home in a very nice takeaway boxes. Even the takeaway bag is a very well design peace. I wish they could sell cotton bags with their design. In all, next time in Marlow I will visit again, I loved the place and could not recommend this restaurant enough. I wish there was Giggling Squid in Bayswater London. Thank you very much :) Kasia

A really good experience. A tasty shared starter (although they could replace the chicken wings with something more Thai). My pork cheeks were excellent, and my partner's prawn pad thai was very tasty. We both finished with a superb Thai tea. Our waitress was great, but the kitchen was a tad slow, apparently due to the pressure from the volume of customers. In any event, we would certainly highly recommend the restaurant, and it will certainly not be our last visit. Especially as there were many other menu items I would like to try. A further point is the building itself. It feels and looks at least 300 plus years old. It's very bent and quaint, with low ceilings, all adding to the atmosphere.

Delicious.food, authentic flavours and a lovely ambience. Very busy and the food took a little while to arrive. Perhaps worth thinking about how to prioritise face to face customers as well as fulfil takeaway orders.

Great customer service ,nice restaurant We ordered few starters to just having a quicke snack. Prawns too hot for our taste lots of chill on top of prawn Wings they tasted good but they were probably from the previous day. Spring rolls veg one.Tasty but portion very small… Papaya salad 🥗 just ok

The Giggling Squid consistently offers delicious and authentic Thai cuisine. Having dined there several times, I have never been disappointed. The menu boasts a wide variety of dishes, catering to diverse preferences. As a vegan, I found the Vegetable Massaman curry particularly outstanding.

Lunch today with friends. First rate food, first rate service, I’ve been to Thailand enough times to know a great Thai Restaurant, I’ll be back

I have visited this restaurant before and was unimpressed with he quality of the food. I year later, I decided to give it another chance. Very little has changed. My Pad Thai was gloopy, tasted like it had been reheated and not built up from fresh ingredients. Bland flavour and tasteless. All srvered up like warm on cold plates. I also ordered a roti, which was greasy, part cook, and equally undesirable. The chef needs changing as a matter or urgency before things will improve. You need a competent chef with cabaility and passion for his cooking. The restaurant was relatively empty, just a few tables being occupied, probably say's it all. Not all GS are the same. The one in Beaconsfield is outstanding. Please drive the extra distance you will be amazed.

Mind your head. Quite a low restaurant. The food is amazing. The service great. The food portions were not to large . So left feeling full but not stuffed. Tasted fresh and well prepared. Unfortunately I have nothing harsh to say. Go here and enjoy.

I have visited several of the restaurants around the area and have normally been happy. However today the crispy prawn dish was very disappointing. I chocked on the praenomen as there was shell . When I told the waitress I was told all the prawns come with shell. Totally inedible and not at all a pleasant experience. No apology at all for the experience.

Waitress (assuming as she’s not in uniform) was serving a lunch set across the table for my daughter and my daughter was trying to reach out for it with good intention to help because the waitress was dangerously stretching out to put it across. Food shouldn’t be served this way and unfortunately the lunch set fell on the table and the hot food fell unto her thighs. My daughter thigh was slightly scalded and skirt was soiled. Really spoiled our lunch out today. By the way, the waitress did apologise. This shouldn’t happen at all. Very bad experience.

Delicious Thai food and great service.

The staff here are attentive and very welcoming. The food is beautiful and the atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely! Always my go-to for Thai food in Marlow!

This place was a real unexpected find. The building is so quaint and cool there are signs to watch your head as its that old, but refurbished. The seating was comfortable and our waitress was vibrant, attentive and charming and helped with the order. The food we had was AMAZING, everything was so tasty and left you wanting more. The portion sizes were really good, just enough, but as i said left you wanting more as the taste was just too good. Price wise it was reasonable and this place will definitely be visited again, maybe next time for evening dinner. A must try for all who like good tasting vibrant food in a really nice setting.

Butterfly prawns starter was superb, well presented and served with pride and joy.

Booked a table at 5pm for 4 people, arrived to find very few people in the restaurant. We ordered drinks with starters which arrived 20mins later, then ordered mains which did not arrive, asked why to find out my wife’s meals was not available . My daughter’s kids meal did arrive but others did not. We left due to poor service due to understaffing ! We went to Cote Brasserie ! We paid for our drinks and starters before we left. We will not return!

Lovely restaurant but the double sea bass curty was extremely fishy, not mild as one would expect with this fish. When mentioned to the very nice waitress we were told ' the kitchen says it's deep-fried, not marinated that's why it seems more fishy '. We accepted that at the time but on reflection , this seems VERY unlikely- I eat sea bass all the time at home and it's never so pungent. I think it was a different fish or slightly off. Not pleasant at all , feeling rather fobbed off...

Lovely clean restaurant, bright and airy, however the starter choices were limited as they had run out of satay starter and golden money bags too! Shame really but apart from that, swift efficient service from start to finish!

Items were missing from the delivery, the restaurant didn’t want to help at all as they told us it was a Deliveroo issue, even though they had missed it packing the food. Food was pretty average, won’t be using again. Better options locally in our opinion

I went here for my birthday last year. Fantastic food as always, that's why it's my favourite place to eat in Marlow. Beautiful decor, and always welcoming, friendly and wonderful staff. Such a relaxed atmosphere. I cannot wait to return.

Not what it used to be. Food was adequate. Service was slow - especially for drinks. I think they forgot about them tbh. Our food arrived before our drinks and we ordered drinks before food!!

Starter or Squid bits with a spicy sauce was very tasty. Main course of Tender beef was fine. Had to order rice and noodles separately which made the meal more expensive.

Such a shame, it's a beautiful setting, but the experience was poor for a first-time visit for giggling squid co, Food looked the part but did not taste much. This was a friends gathering, which they recommend, after ordering. The moment we got our food, I took one bite into the salt and pepper squid. It was chewy and stringy to where it's moist. The texture was off-putting, and then hoping the mains, a mild chicken coconut curry with vegetables that again had no flavours and the chicken was rubbery and grisly. It didn't end there as our evening was finished of by giving us our bill at 9.15pm when didn't ask for it, she brought the credit card reader the moment we said no to dessert. Felt the pressured to leave. Such a bad experience.

The food was incredible. The staff were very attentive.If you like Thai food this your place. The only issue is once you get inside the Restaurant there’s no cell phone coverage and neither WiFi. Plz look into it.

Food's nice, service is quick. Just think they've got a cheek automatically adding service charge onto the bill. One of my party has nut issues, he was given nut less options, which was very useful.

Last time here December 2022, awful meal. Tonight we decided to give it another chance, what a difference! Crispy salt and pepper squid, delicious and so was the salmon bites. Red Thai chicken curry so good too! Such an improvement thank you! Staff lovely too! Loved the Thai Rose, never tried it before

I had a bad experience yesterday at the Marlow branch. This is not a child friendly restaurant. The food was great but the service was terrible. When we arrived with my 8 month old was made to feel very unwelcome and it was made clear that having a high chair was difficult. Then we were asked lots of times whether we were ready to order and greeted with a rude response when we weren't. Then when the food came I asked for an additional plate for my baby I was given one that was hot and breakable so I proceeded to use the tablemat (which was wipeable) to put some rice and spring roll on for her and the waitress came over and in a rude manner asked me to use the plate. I explained that my baby would not be able to use it as she huffed off. Let's say we will not be back. Very disappointing as I love the food.

I haven't eaten in for a while and I think it's definitely worth eating in rather than take out / delivery. I find takeaway hit and miss sometimes but this time we ate in and i really enjoyed it. All the starters were to die for. The squid and the pork dumplings were especially tasty. I tried the pork cheek main and it was sweet and sticky and melted in the mouth. Everything was great. Would happily go back.

My wife booked a table for my birthday. Food, service and the atmosphere were sublime! Very clean restaurant and a very relaxed atmosphere! Lovely little touch by the staff bringing out a little dessert (free of charge) and singing happy birthday! Will definitely be back very soon to enjoy some more delicious Thai food! Marlow branch MASSIVE credit to the company!

Food was really good there, we had to wait for a long for food, place was noisy and hot inside. It’s so tiny inside with not much space, but it makes this place special.

Delicious food in a quaint little restaurant. The Lychee Angel is absolutely delicious as is the food. A must eat when you're in Marlow.

Good asian food, good service, what else to want. Book a table in advance is recommended because this place can be easily fully booked.

Food was incredible with amazing flavours, but the service was very slow. We ended up not ordering desserts because it took too long to get served. I would go back to Giggling Squid but may try another location.

Went for lunch with sister. Although the restaurant was quite it was one of the worst food and service received. Pity as the one in Beaconsfield was amazing.

We dined 23/6 at 8.45. The food was fabulous, the service was perfect, especially the young man who was clearing the table, he was lovely!

I am not a fan of Thai food but OMG, this restaurant changed my point of view. Delighted by every dish we ordered. We shared a bit of everything and every single one was stunning. Clean, good service. It was full of people. Food took a while but it is good quality food.

A go to for Thai in Marlow. Highly recommend the deep fried squid, a real treat and a must be shared touch as portions are large for me. Enjoyable meal, again, refreshing Singapore beer and lovely seating environment. Always busy, recommend booking.just incase seating is not available.

I love this restaurant. We made a reservation via phone, and reserved a table for two half an hour in advance (mind you, it was Sunday). The staff was great, we were greeted with a smile and got the proper menu introduction. The food was amazing. Besides from the countless tastes coming from the Thai cuisine, everything was fresh, from the vegetables to the meat and fish. The surroundings are pleasant, you will really enjoy staying in. They should, however, think about changing the music. Some traditional Thai or Asian sounds, instead of pop music. All in all, awesome restaurant - make sure you visit it.

The sticky crispy chicken is really good, was very impressed, including the Pina Colada cocktail as well. The chicken satay was quite a small dish compared to other Thai restaurants I've visited, but I was really happy with the chicken, enjoyed it a lot.

Hands down the best salt and peppered squid! The sharing platters and papaya salad are out of this world, add the ambiance and service this place deserves 5⭐ across the board! Always a favourite and for ever returning!

The Chang Mai Platter for 2 was fantastic, we ordered more squid as it was so delicious. Amazing food and friendly staff who took time out to talk to us about the Thai cuisine. Would definitely go there again.

Great food, and good value. My prawn green curry was amazing. Sea bass in banana leaf was also amazing. Took a while for one of the dishes to get to the table but overall good service and great food.

The two Thai ladies working there are probably the two rudest people I’ve ever met. Me and my daughter came in for a nice meal after a day of exploring the area. Maybe we didn’t look ‘rich’ enough to be in there, hence they looked down their nose at us (we could see they were being cordial with all the other patrons) Either way, throwing menus down, asking for your order by saying ‘what?’, never making eye contact, started talking in thai to her colleague while I was MID SENTENCE then just sauntered away from the table mid order. Came back 10 minutes later, and grunted at us for the rest of the order. Other than that, the food was pretty basic.the fish sauce didn’t smell or taste like any other fish sauce I’ve had at Thai restaurants. smelled like it had gone off. The muscles were dry and rubbery, like the came out of a packet bought at Sainsbury’s next door. (Update: we went and got some muscles from Sainsbury’s the next day and they were literally the same ones) All in all an absolute horrid experience. Oh… and they added a service charge for this 5 star experience without even asking. RESPONSE TO THE OWNERS RESPONSE: the fact that you didn’t mention the main crux of the issue, (that being the abysmal way we were treated by your staff) in your response is disappointing to say the least. Makes me think you don’t have a problem with mistreating customers if they don’t look like they come from money. Honestly if that’s the case either enforce a dress code or make it private members only. Save anyone else coming in there and being made to feel like a proletariat
