The loveliest, warmest welcome from this wonderful family. We were made to feel like family from the moment we walked through the door. Food was superb, service second to none, atmosphere authentic Italian and great value for money. We love it.

First experience of Giancarlo's ...extremely satisfying , food was absolutely amazing..I had the calamari starter followed by the king prawn linguine..stunning flavours and my partners meal was as good as mine ..definitely going to return..

First visit to Giancarlo, even though very local to me. Absolutely blown away by the food, and welcoming, and service even better. Food & drink very well priced, 2 courses with plenty of alcohol just over £60. What a lovely couple, we will definitely be back.

Fantastic as always. My favourite restaurant. One of the last places you can go to and feel like you’re invited to a family dinner. It’s so personal. The owner and his wife are the nicest people. If you want a night with a barrel of laughs come here. If I had the money I’d be here every night.

We ordered some cold platters for a celebration party and they were so good. Everyone commented at the party and there was not a scrap left! We've also had hot food for a party before now and that was just as amazing. A family run, local restaurant with wonderful, friendly owners. Will definitely use them again.

My son is one very happy (and very full) boy...as am I! A lovely meal and fantastic host, Umberto, at Giancarlo restaurant. A genuine family concern that is so friendly and happy. Genuine Italian food, good wine selection, generous portions. Lovely host and hostess, very welcoming. Small restaurant with bags of atmosphere. Car parking, wheelchair friendly. Would highly recommend.

Last minute booking Thursday evening for 21 people ! From the time we arrived till leaving the staff were amazing. There food was fantastic and very well managed considering there was only 1 chef and 2 waitress plus the lovely owner , wish we lived a bit closer to go more often !

Honestly one of my favourite restaurant I ever been to, great atmosphere, authentic Italian food. The owner is very friendly and makes you feel like you at home, the lady working there is very friendly. Perfect night with my girlfriend, definitely will be back for more times.

Had a lovely meal here last night! We got a voucher from groupon and hadn't been before. They also do a set menu in the week that is worth looking at as it looks like a great deal.

This is a real gem. Wonderful Italian food, welcoming staff, and good prices. Everything is good quality and very tasty. (Bring your own wine - and there are 2 supermarkets just across the road). Highly recommended.

8Feb20. Not been here for a few years and will not wait as long for my next visit. Fillet Rossini was wonderful and well supported up by an excellent selection of starters. The specials board was also available - just to complicate my choice Great service by Pat and "helper" Umberto delivering chef Giancarlo creations provided one of my best meal for several years. Would also recommend the house red wine Montepulciana D'abruzzo.

Superb as always, can't fault the food, service or ambience. Best Italian restaurant ever.

The worst eatery I have attended in several years they served runny pate for a starter, the main course bland and vegetables just warm and the chips greasy and pale. Servis appalling, we sat down at 7.30 , cannot comment on sweet as we left at 10 pm and sweet orders had not been taken ( after asking 3/4 if they were taking orders).

This restaurant is now visited on regular basis. We often take friends with us. A real Italian experience. The owner makes this a great night out. The food is fantastic at realistic prices. You must try this. I just hope this does not become to popular and full for when I book.

Highly recommend! £15 for three courses every tuesday and thursday! the owner is really friendly and has a cosy atmosphere. 100% going back again. The food was stunning, especially for the price!! x

The food is amazing and umberto, the owner, is a natural entertainer. A conversation with him is already a good reason to stop here, but when you'll taste his pasta you won't be able to leave. Amazing experience!

Excellent food staff and owners very friendly

Hard to fault small, traditional, Italian family restaurant. It was recommended to me by an Italian friend some years ago and I kept meaning to give it a try. Now I'm mortified that I missed the opportunity to eat here for so long. First the welcome, friendly family, clean front area with tables and chairs surrounded by a windbreak with summer flowers. Ideal to sit and wait with an Italian beer whilst friends turn up . . . to discuss the menu or just to wait. Likewise, inside is homely, comfortable and not so crowded that it is not possible to push a chair back. Tables are functionally set, clean and bright. The menu is limited but each item is chosen as something that can be cooked from fresh with seasonal ingredients at a reasonable price. The food itself is just as it should be of the five present whilst I ate an early dinner everyone was pleased with the quality of ingredients and cooking. The meat and fish was excellent as promised and the vegetable selection was boyh fres, authentic and cooked to just the right point for my tastes. A range of wines to accompany are stocked, all are decent or excellent and prices are on the low side of reasonable. There is, thankfully, no flummery with outsized pepper grinders or banjo sized cheese graters, I'm sure that if you wanted to 'tart up' your meal such could be arranged but the supplied lemon, herb butter and the sauce seasoning were ample for me. Dad has retired as chef now, son is in the kitchen whilst dad enjoys liberation to welcome and chat to guests ensuring they are comfortale and well provided for. Mum makes sure food as cooked is rapidly delivered to tables, clears away and relieves guests of the modest fee . . . The background music is Italian, volume will be turned up or down by request and to the appeciation or comfort of diners. Location is a short walk from Hall Green station, a very short walk from bus stops on Stratford Road and Fox Hollies for those that would like the beer or wine. Parking is plentiful including right outside on Highfield Road for those who wish to drive. It is worth travelling, I made a round trip of 35 miles and think it well worth it.

Great homely Italian restaurant family run. The food is excellent, and if you close your eyes for a few moments you will be taken to italy with the soft classic Italian music innthe background. Deffinatley give it a try much recommend over any large italian chain. Also has a great selection wine, beers and spirits. The owner is a great guy always talking and will offer any advice on meals or trips to italy!!

Went out for a birthday meal, the waiter is really friendly and always like cracking jokes which makes the visit more memorable, the food is first class i highly recommend the prawns in garlic, and the spaghetti bolognese.....OMG! overall a beautiful little family restaurant which has charm and great for a treat for a loved one!

Great place Lovely food Waiter is friendly and eccentric which just adds to the places charm. Definitely worth a visit. Will be undergoing a referb in a few weeks I believe so make sure by calling in advance if wanting to visit soon.
