Gi Gi Italian Restaurant & Takeaway in East Lindsey

The food was lovely but the service was not good at all. Firstly took weeks to actually get a booking, called up and was told someone would call back as we needed to pay ten pound per person deposit- no one ever called back. we then tried again a few weeks later and managed to get booked in. Huge wait for starters and then for mains to come out. We then sat for what seemed like an age for someone to bring the dessert menu and no one did so we asked for the bill and didnt bother as we had been in there nearly 3 hours for 2 courses already. Then had to remind them we had paid the deposit- which we could not book unless we paid. The tables are rammed too close together which makes it very uncomfortable with strangers so close.

Fabulous food, good selection of wine, comfortable and atmospheric atmosphere with loverly staff, easy booking and parking

Lovely meal with friends. Chef explained the choices and specials Went for tomahawk steak and it was amazing! Cooked just as we liked medium rare on rare side. Chef offered a great price to make it a surf and turf so we went for it. Great decision All sides, sauces and drinks also delicious Had a bottle of wine that was delicious and shot of limoncello at the end of the meal was a lovely touch. Wait staff attentive and kind Atmosphere was lovely. Hidden gem and will definitely be back

This place is a great place to go food is out of this world and the staff are so so friendly and nothing is to much trouble you differently need to go

On being shown to our table the chef asked if he could bring out the steaks. We agreed to take a look and knew from experience by his suasive manner this was his sell. They came out T Bone style small ,medium and large cuts as well as a tomahawk steak. We explained that we couldn’t eat anything large and it needed to be tender as my guest had a loose bottom front tooth. Our small T Bone came out well presented and looked delicious, the chef sliced the meat from the bone. My guest wanted her pieces of meat cooked more but I was happy to eat the few slices that was presented to me some tender but the majority chewy & fatty. The meal was served with chips & salad both average, the chips being like that you get in a Chinese restaurant. My guest couldn’t eat the meat due to excess fat and complained to the server she then told the chef who came to the table . We explained the meat was very fatty and chewy and most disappointing . His response was he has sold 5 before and never once had a complaint and was very dismissive of our opinion. On leaving the chef stood near to the till (slightly intimidating but we had assumed he was there to deduct some cost) how wrong - he waited until I had paid IN FULL £83.50. For 2 mains and 2 slices of cheesecake & 1 x cola. I said that wasn’t expected & his response was I ate all the meat so he won’t reduce my bill. The small Slices of meat I tried to eat are clearly shown on the image. I have never been so disappointed with a meal or had my opinion dismissed by a Chef in such an inconsiderate manner. I have better steaks from my butcher and won’t waste my time or effort again.

First-time visitors to GiGi, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit from start to finish. The restaurant itself is rustic and welcoming. The food was beautifully presented and generous portions. The staff are quick to help and attentive (although the bar maid could do with a hair bobble, couldn't stop playing with her hair 😂). We can't wait to go back again! Special mention for Jane our waitress, down to earth, nothing to much trouble, a credit to the business.

Foods good but the wait for it to come is horrendous. Because of that we would not go again and we live in the area. Real shame.

What a find ! This is the first time we have eaten at Gigi and it certainly won't be the last! From the very moment we walked into the restaurant we were made to feel welcome. We chose to sit outside to enjoy our drinks as it was a beautiful warm evening and spent time out there looking at the menu.. The front of house lady (sorry I didn't get her name) was really friendly and sat with us sharing her recommendations on the menu. She was very knowledgeable regarding the dishes and answered any questions we had. The food did not disappoint the anti pasti was delicious and my lobster was perfectly cooked. My partner said his dish (polla a la funghi) was some of the best chicken he had ever tasted. The service was exceptional and the evening was finished off with a complimentary limoncello shared with the owner (chef). I mentioned a particular dish I had enjoyed on a visit to Rome and he told me he would cook it for me when we visit again. We will absolutely visit again soon and tell all our friends of the fabulous food and welcome we received at the wonderful Gigi.

Gigi’s, our favourite place. The place we shout from the rooftops about to everyone. The place we come for on our special occasions from Grimsby. What has gone wrong. We came for a lovely treat but came out disappointed, dejected and hungry. In arriving it felt like bedlam with the staff. No cohesion or purpose, they looked uninterested and stressed. The owner showed us to our table, which was unsuitable, so we asked to be moved, which he did but stressed and saying it’s crazy, we are doing takeout orders also. We ordered our drinks, no sign of taking our order for food, one staff member came to take our order but as she came to us lifted her pad and then asked off, waited for someone again. We booked for 7.30pm and waited till about 8.15pm for somebody to take our order. A couple of staff said sorry it’s all taking so long. We got our starter eventually but as a large Antipasti board as usual. Nothing like usual, hardly any cheese, on it. Whilst sat waiting, the table walked out after waiting so long and dreadful service. We waited until 9.30pm for our main, well what can we say..dire, terrible. We were out by 10pm… says it all. Presentation shocking on the seafood platter, on a round bread board. A pile of prawn cocktail dumped on it. It’s usually in a dish (Please see photographs of our usual seafood platter, I have tonight’s and the last visits), absolutely NO COMPARISON. It was minuscule, messy, greasy and slopped together. The chips were dark to almost black. We saw another table receive theirs, which looked lovely and like what we usually get. We asked the waitress what they had, she replied the same as yours. Theirs had the separate prawn cocktail in the dish and a seafood platter a million miles away from ours. The Gorgonzola barely tased of any cheese and the sauce was watery. We left our food and informed the waitress. She said said it’s been extremely busy. We get that, especially as an experienced hospitality operations manager. We didn’t want anything off, I say this as the waitress taking our payment said”well I can only take 10% off). We were more surprised at the lack of attention to detail and disinterested staff. The owner went into the kitchen and never came out. He usually greets his guests, clearly not anymore. The visit before this evening was for 14 of us, never mind when we come for ourselves. We said you have lost our custom, to no reply but it’s been very busy. Don’t advertise your wears if you can’t constantly deliver the goods. Honestly, disappointed and gutted is an understatement but we will not return and we will not be recommending anymore. So sorry but very upset ourselves.

Sunday carvery. It is only possible to review if you compare with other Sunday carvery's. This is a restaurant so that needs to be taken into account when compareing it with pub carvery's. Things I noted. It took a short time for someone to take a drinks order and explain the format to us. The plates were cold and so the food went cold or colder very quickly. The meat was sparse and cut very thinnly. We were given 1 carrot, this surprised me. A small amout of I think he said "cauliflower cheese" was also added to the cold plate. Not a sufficient amount to have an opinion on. The other vegatables you serve yourself. The gravey was nice and hot and it helped because all the food needed to be hotter. We watched the chef cut a cake for a party sitting near us. He served that with a tin of squirty cream. That again surprised me that a restaurant would do that.The waiting staff came to clear plates and asked if everything was alright? I told them the food could have been hotter and he did not seem to know what to say to me. I think we expected more because it is a restaurant and not a pub, perhaps that expectation was too high? It was ok but compared to other Sunday carvery's it was by far not the best.

Amazing top quality chef who couldn't do more for you the food and service is incredible and really does trump the big name Italians and it's in a village wow go GIGi. THEY even do Carvery on Sundays.

Absolutely excellent, the food, atmosphere and service I can not fault anything. The portion sizes are huge, the staff are very attentive and the service was brill. I can not think of 1 bad thing to say. Highly recommend

I'm a little late in putting this review on because I don't like to complain normally but hearing others doing so, I thought it was only fair. I also think that some other reviewers haven't ate at a good Italian restaurant or they wouldn't be leaving some of these reviews. I went to this place for my wife's birthday and when arrived we were only the third table seated. We only ordered main courses, a cod dish and a simple chicken pasta dish. We waited 20 minutes, 30 minutes and 40 minutes but no food. A waitress did come to us and apologies for the wait and then just after 50 minutes our meal came. The quality was only average and my wifes fish was a little dry. At this stage there were only around half a dozen tables being waited on so it seemed strange that we had such a wait. We would have re-visited at some stage and given it another try but as we were leaving a couple waiting asked us how it was. All we said was that it was okay if you don't mind the wait. At this point the owner / chef stormed towards us accusing us of dissing his restaurant and food. He was totally out of order with his aggression and attitude. We mearly stated that the couple had asked how it was and after things calmed down we left. Obviously NEVER to return. Anyone wanting a good quality of authentic Italian food and service should try Montebello's in Louth or the other one further down the road ll Padrino. Yes you have to drive but it's worth it.

Can not recommend this place enough! The atmosphere is so cute, the front of house staff are all amazing, Ash is especially awesome! He knows his stuff 😁 Both Caroline and Jodie are also beyond friendly while being completely professional. The Chef is beyond talented, his food is cooked to Perfection and presented like a work of art. The wine is stunning, both red and white choices are classy and tasteful. We will be returning on a regular basis without a doubt !

Fantastic Italian food, delicious pizza and pasta dishes and great cocktails. A table of 10 on a busy night we were a bit of a challenge to the kitchen but they coped admirably. The table staff worked hard to manage a chatty family get together and thought possibly still learning they did a grand job. Thanks for a great night xxx

Booked for 6.30, but food didn’t arrive until 7.45. Booking system definitely needs sorting, however we were told they prioritise the takeaway special night! Food was good when it finally arrived.

I can't recommend Gigi's highly enough it is an undiscovered jewel in the area. A little piece of Italy hidden in North Somercotes. Authentic Italian cuisine, definitely top marks, excellent service and the best meal I have had in a long time. We will be back.
