Usually amazing food, never had a bad meal in years. Tonight the battered mushrooms were hard and uncooked with soggy batter, beans were stone cold and had to be microwaved after a 4 min drive home. Very small portion of chips. Usually enough to feed two of us but barely enough for one. Hopefully just a one off.

The price has gone up yet again. Now £10.90 for takeaway fish & chips! Seemingly chips are up 60p.

There’s a reason why this fish shop is busy, it’s fantastic! Excellent portion sizes and superbly tasty fish. Large flaked cod in a delicious light batter, not too greasy either. Definitely worth a try if you haven’t already.

I go once a month when I'm in the area, it's the best around for miles in my opinion. I always have Fish Chips and Gravy, the fish was really tasty and the batter was light fluffy and crispy, the chips were very tasty too, crispy outer and fluffy inner and the gravy just sets the chips off. 10 out of 10. The staff are always friendly and helpful and a good atmosphere, also sit in area which is always clean.

Ordered for the family. All had fish and chips, with various peas and curry sauce etc. Fish and chips was perfect, not greasy, just FRESH FRESH FRESH! Well done, thanks for a wonderful supper and look forward to having again xxxx

Been using Georges for a few months since a friend moved locally. Fish and chips are great portions, well cooked. Kebabs are the best we have tasted in Bourne. We did collect a takeaway once which turned out to be wrong, after a phone call they delivered the correct food within minutes. Everything is organized well for the current pandemic. We will continue using Georges

Well no way disappointed. Great fast service from smiley friendly staff. Excellent food fresh and very tasty . So nice to find a place so clean. After many visits noticed cleanliness slipping just a little bit ? Lack of staff maybe .

We order takeaway at least every other week here but tonight’s takeaway was more expensive and the portion size was markedly smaller. Very disappointed.

Lunchtime cod,chips,peas and salad bowl for three, all first class and fresh. Excellent food, large portions and lovely fish, well cooked.

Easy to order online, collection time given and they make sure orders are ready. This is THE best chippy for miles around, fantastic cooked fish.

First Takeaway since lockdown. Excellent, safe experience and the food was great too . Booked online and paid with contactless on arrival. You can just rock and order too but the online ordering was very easy. Arrived slightly early of slot paid and then waited safely. You can wait in or outside. They call your name. You pick up your food and leave. Food was hot after a 15 mins drive home. We will be back next month.

When we crave a chippy dinner we always turn to George’s. Without fail it’s a quick and efficient service and the team and always very friendly and happy to look after their customers!

My husband came home with our fish and chips and was annoyed at the price he paid .They were lovely I admit but will not be going again after paying £17.60 for fish &chips twice.AMeal at the sugar mill is cheaper when you have limited resources.

The owner is a top person who is a cut above the other chippies. Staff are great and clearly love working there and have a pride in their food. Highly recommended.

Excellent if you chose the right time to order, not so good if you go before 5/6pm, fish just sitting there. Better to go and queue.

I am a fairly regular visitor. It is a very reliable good chip shop. Well prepared fish and plenty of choice. Very often a queue particularly Friday evenings but that is testimony to its popularity as a chip shop of choice in the area. Only criticism is that sometimes the portions are too large!

Our first visit here on our way home from a trip down south. Very good selection of fayre but we opted for the cod n` chips!. We eat in at the rear of the restaurant, quite large portions too.

Lovely clean chippie selling tasty fish and chips at a reasonable price. We visited on a Friday evening and, although busy, it was well staffed and the food served quickly. Nice to have it served in cardboard boxes and paper bags. It wasn't greasy and the portions generous sizes.

We decided to have fish and chips after work, after a hectic week I couldn’t be bothered to cook, also 2 nights ago we saw some kids will boards saying they had a special offer on chips for 19p with any hot item . We have never had a bad portion of fish and chips, they are always fresh and hot

quite quick service as I had to wait for my fish to cooked. Good sized portions and good value. service was polite and business like. could sit down whllst waiting if you wished and tables if you wanted to eat inside or out in the right weather

The last 3 times I've tried george chip shop the chips have really gone down hill I and several other couple have now stopped going due to quality of the chips so sorry did love it here but bye georges

Great fish and chips with a good choice of other food as well, you can have traditional fish and chips, grilled fish kebabs, steak and lots more all freshly cooked. If you go there Fridays go early really busy.

Not as consistent as previously, but still good value, efficient service and the menu offers some more unusual items e.g. Grilled fish. Worth a try.

We are regulars at Georges Fish Bar and have found on the whole, the quality and consistency of portion size to be good. However, we visited Saturday 7th July at about 6pm and got the best chips we have tasted for many years. I would have been satisfied with just a bag of chips and to have savoured the fantastic flavour and joy of GOOD honest chips. Not too dry, not fat laden, but wow!!! The fish was tasty, but a little on the small side, but on the whole, very good.The staff are always very efficient there and get through the busy times without any fuss. They are cheerful and efficient.

Everything from here has always been good, the burgers are fantastic and their chips are always tasty and well cooked

We have driven past so many times but this time decided to try Georges and it was a great decision, great fish and chips only £4.99 on a lunch time deal, great value for lovely white fish freshly cooked and perfectly cooked chips too, definitely recommend

Decided on Friday fish and chips, everything was freshly cooked and the queue waiting speaks for itself. The haddock fillets are on the large side so would satisfy most appetites and large chips certainly do. Appreciate that visits to this type of establishment can vary but on this occasion everything was top class.

Excellent fish and chip shop. The owner sets high standards. The decor is bright and always clean. There is a nice seating area. The fact that people will queue right out the door and beyond tells the standard of food. My mum visited and said it was the best she had had (including some celebrity chef versions). They do a good range of traditional foods and then have a changing range of specials eg tandoori chicken, steak and peppercorn sauce and various Greek dishes. If we could change one thing it would be to have a different vegetarian meal to the veggie burger being offered (as veggie burgers generally aren’t pleasant anywhere). A nice breaded/battered halloumi please George would make this totally perfect.

Excellent service as always, but sadly the food quality was well below previously high standards. I accept that occasionally one element of a takeaway may not meet a great level. Tonight the chips were undercooked and the batter on my fish was soggy and the mushy peas were of a weird texture, like they had been continually watered down. Sorry but I will be trying other outlets in town from now.

This is a very popular establishment in the town which does make it very difficult to find a spade in the car park and the traffic gets very busy at peak times. The queues can also be quite long. The quality of the food is good and the staff are polite and friendly

Best fish and chip take away I have ever had! Friendly and polite service from the very busy team with customers queuing out the door. Service was fast considering the amount of people waiting and the food was superb.

Had the dog at the Dog groomers down the road and needed to feed myself and 3 young kids. It was great to find there was seating inside. We had a large fish and large chips, 1 sausage and 2 cokes and I was amazed it only came to £10! The lady serving me was friendly and polite and more than happy to split the chips across 4 plates. The fish and chips were really good and I’m just gutted this chip shop is not local for me. Will go again if I am in the area.

Delicious as always. Went for haddock and pukka beef and onion pie and both were beautifully cooked and clearly hadn't stood long.

We haven't lived in the area long and found we were spoilt with choices of fish and chips. We have tried a few and this one is one of the best. Tasty large portions of food. Fish is tender and juicy and the batter isn't too over cooked! Only thing is several times we have been missed - we stand at the counter but the couple behind us were served- maybe we should wait to be called up I'm not sure. Maybe the staff think the others are sorting us out? But it doesn't detract from some great Fish and Chips. Next to try the other large selection of food they have!! Free drink if you spend over £19 too (which believe me everything is so good is easily done haha)Our go to for a F&C dinner :-)

We are relative newcomers to the area and tried George's Fish Bar for the first time just recently. Although it was around 8pm on a Tuesday evening, it was fairly busy with 3 - 4 staff serving. The fish and chips were excellent, as were the serving staff - absolutely delighted by their friendliness. If you don't want a take-out, there is a small seating area. We noted that do a 10oz sirloin steak and chips for £7.99, so we'll be back! Excellent and highly recommended.

We are regular users of George's having fish and chips takeaways from there at least every fortnight. The generous portions of fish are always fresh, white, tasty and cooked in lovely fresh oil to give a crisp batter. The chips are some of the best tasting chips I've ever had from a fish & chip shop - they are so wonderful that no sauce is necessary - the flavour from them is amazing. Again, the portion is generous but ordering a large portion means leftovers for lunch the next day. :) Excellent packaging means the fish supper gets home hot, still crispy and not broken up.Additionally George's occasionally has delicious baklava for sale and sausages, pies, burgers, etc are all up to scratch too but it's the fish and chips which we have every time.All of the team are pleasant and helpful. The environment is spotless and neat with convenient parking and seating area for those who wish to eat in.George's is far better than anywhere else in the area for fish and chips. I sound like a family member but have no connection to them other than being a great fan and grateful that we live relatively close to Bourne for our tasty George's fish suppers.

As a coeliac i am restricted greatly with the choice of available fish shops doing gluten free meals. I know a few who claim to serve gluten free but I need assurances that they are knowledgeable about the issues and are not just paying lip service to it.Not only are the staff aware of the issues but these are the best fish and chips this side of Whitby. The fact that you can enjoy them fresh on the premises is an added bonus.If you want or need gluten free then you really must try Georges!

I have written a review on George's before but had not been to George's in a very long time as we got fed up with it. Since I visited here before I have had better fish and chips locally. We tried it again tonight as our normal shop was closed and will not be going there again. We were ripped off, charging almost £3 more in total than we normally pay. The batter is too thick and they would not know a decent chip if it hit them in the face. Chips were virtually tasteless. All I can say is the people of Bourne are not very fussy.

George's fish and chips and chicken are always consistantly good. I love the food from here because it is never greasy and the food tastes how it should and not the taste of what it has been cooked in. Many fish and chips from other places only tastes of unpleasant oil or rancid animal fat, but this is never the case at George's.

It was last year we had a take away from here. The fish portions are ever so large. Great value for money and the staff are very friendly

The only thing stopping Georges becoming the best chippy in the area is Linfords at Deeping..... that said, there is only a hairs breadth between them. Great variety of food, including 'healthier' options, reasonable prices, and staff that are always as quick as they can be given the queues. There are queues for a reason though!

The best gluten free fish and chips that I've had in lincolnshire. As a fairly recently diagnosed coeliac i struggle with the whole gluten free thing but every now and then I come across something special. Fish comes fresh from Grimsby, batter is light and delicious, service is quick and efficient, but friendly too. We like to enjoy our fish and chips in the small cafe there, so it is all fresh and crisp. A cup of tea accompanies our meal. A most enjoyable experience..

We have moved out of Bourne to Rippingale we still travel to George's because they are the best now with lots more parking which we need on Fish and Chips Fridays

This is a super business who always give a great friendly service & good food. I am gluten-intolerant & particularly enjoy their gluten-free night but on other occasions they have cooked me super non-battered but seasoned fish; so I can still enjoy some fish & not feel I have to have chicken again.George's Fish Bar also caters for local events & the supper I had at a recent event was really enjoyable and welcome and the helpings were very generous.

Due to circumstance we had to eat out unexpectedly, we ate in Georges fish bar, it was clean and pleasant, we usually take away but this evening we decided to "eat in" little touches like help yourself salt and vinegar, knives and forks made it a different experience - very pleasant on a cold evening. If you havent eaten in, then I recommend it - its a complimentary service.
