George's Fish Bar in Basildon

First time using George's Fish bar and unfortunately our order took almost 2 hours to arrive and when it did our order was wrong. I managed to speak to the driver who was very polite and apologised. She called the shop and they said they would send the correct order and it would be about 15-20 minutes. The correct order never actually came. I can understand delivery taking a while and also mistakes are made but to then say it will be sorted and do nothing about it was disappointing.

1st time using George's fish bar. Went here years ago before the new owners took it over. Git to compliment them on the service and quality of the food we had. The cod was huge, honestly huge. Never had a piece of fish that size. The price was exceptionally good for the amount we got. It was too much, really, but we now know you get a lot for your money. We will definitely be going back

First time at George’s tonight and wow! Never seen a fish so large and chip portions are so generous you can easily share a portion. Our new go to fish and chip shop.

Unfortunately food took 2 hours to arrive. Not sure if they didn’t see the order and only realised once enquired after 90 mins. When arrived, was missing salad and kebab a little undercooked. Avoid.

New to the area and alot of people recommended this place as the best chippy.. like seriously? It was awful.. chips are barely cooked, not crispy, no crispy bits.. wasnt asked if I wanted salt n vinegar. The chicken burger was suppose to have all salad. It was a ton of lettuce, no tomato no onion no cheese! Like seriously guys come on. The piece of chicken is out a supermarket and It's also served in the polostiring container which is shocking.. what is this the 80s? Bugs flying about in the shop no blue light. Churchill on the high street 10 times better. Staff great and friendly.

Food as always great but they really need to sort delivery over 2 hours late if it's a long delivery time it should be stated before payment won't be using again

Food is decent, but collection is a joke, too many delivery drivers in front and always takes 20 mins longer than you are told

They must think we are American. Portion size is massive. Great value for money. we ordered for 4 people and none of us could finish it all. plenty in the fridge for tomorrow. Top quality and biggest pieces of fish I can ever remember having anywhere (and we only ordered medium) !!!

After ordering and confirming was a long delivery wait time, that wasn’t too bad as food was ok just annoying as I ordered cans of drink cause it’s such a hot day and needed something refreshing with lunch and they never arrived just annoys me when orders aren’t checked properly and you get ripped off

Pre-ordered for 6 O' clock delivery well in advance. Over an hour late now and food still not arrived. Called multiple times. Different excuse each time. If you have hungry kids to feed I wouldn't risk it.

Fresh cooked lovely bit of cod. Chips cooked to perfection. Only went there cos the closer one the Codfather was closed. Going to George's Fish Bar from now on. Use the App it's super convenient.

Have been ordering here for along time and generally has been consistent, however £5.50 for a kids meal when you get 4 chicken nuggets and about 10 chips is absolutely disgusting

George’s is by far the best takeaway i have been to. The staff are very friendly, always a friendly face, the food is 10/10 and it is easy to get to. Could not recommend George’s Fish Bar any more highly. The staff are all so friendly and kind, never been disappointed with a meal and they always go the extra mile for their customers- we would not go anywhere else! Their fried chicken outdoes KFC every time! 100/10! Support this local family run business!

Best Fish & Chip shop in Billiercay! Cannot fault at all…. Food really fresh and tasty. Cannot recommend enough! This is always my go to fish shop and it’s always 5* all the time - lovely family run business.

5 stars all round for this place. Best service you'll get. Great food. Check out the lamb shish. Proper tender n soft lamb. Fish always cooked in clean oil. You can tell and see by the colour. The best fish and chips shop and kebab shop in the area. Usually when places do kebabs and fish and chips they cut corners and one or the other isn't as good. Not here.. everything is spot on. Thanks guys.

Wow the portions are large, one lot of chips did both of us and I had most of the other the following day. The cod was beautiful

The portion of chips are lovely and I love how fresh my burger tastes. A nice hefty meal that costs less the a McDonald's. The people in the shop are lovely and have great customer service which makes you want to come back. My current favourite food shop in Billericay and I don’t even like fish and chip shops.

Very good food and very generous portions, the donner wrap was huge. Chicken wings also decent.

My order was cold contacted fish bar they told me to go through just eat for my cash refund as I paid cash I have heard nothing back and was told I would get email from just eat

Went in there for a portion of chips. Very friendly service and the chips were a good portion, nice and fresh. I look forward to coming again and getting more

Sadly completely failed to deliver today, very poor given the food and service is normally very good! We were up until now very regular customers but alas no longer after our experience today.

We normally get good food from George’s Fish Bar but last nights was not very good. The burgers we ordered had 2 pieces of cucumber and a very small amount of onions plus it looked liked it had been thrown together. The chips were also very oily and they tasted oily. Let’s hope it’s only a one off but it has made us think about ordering again.

Took 2 hours to deliver 4 portions of chips and 5 sausages, chips were soggy, very disappointed, will not be ordering again

Ordered at 6.45pm and arrived at 21.05. Really not impressed as rang at 8.30pm and was told it was on its way. Obviously did not leave then. Rang again at 21.05 just as it was delivered. Should not take orders if they can’t deliver on time. Won’t be ordering again.

Food wasn’t delivered until an hour and 45 minutes after ordering. Called after an hour and 10 minutes to be told it was out for delivery but didn't arrive for another 20 minutes. I also put a note on the order to have sauces in pots and not on the kebabs I ordered but they arrived covered in sauce.

Good food and a great selection. Delivery was a but slow but understandable for a Friday night. Will order from here again.

I’m sorry but if your going to any other fish and chip shop in the area then you are a fool George’s is the best in the business Every time we order the food is fresh and delicious wether it’s a cod and chips, burger or kebab every time on his menu is cooked to perfection His portion sizes are double any other chippy we have tried Top tip to anyone his homemade chilli sauce is to die for! Get yourself down to George’s you won’t regret it Once you’ve tried it once you won’t go to any other chippy

Chicken was so dry it was as if you’ve been cooking it for a week. Guy picking up the phone has not got a clue about what is going out and when. Would not order from here again

Sadly, even though it's the best fish and chips... we are always having to chase due to late delivery. We have now cancelled the order after waiting for 2 and half hours and chasing constantly.

Awful. Took over 2h30m to deliver after showing as 45-60m on the order page. Called up after 90m and was told it's being packed and would be there soon, took another 45m after that. Greedy business stretching themselves too thin, suggest you go elsewhere.

I am still waiting for my order after 2 hours and not a big order , I think Just Eat is obviously not in the same league now as other well known delivery providers. Rand the takeaway 35 mins ago said it is just being packaged up. Took Exactly 3 Hours. Food was lovely though.
