One night stay ( second visit) . Lovely room . Lots of renovation work is being done. Comfortable bed. Great shower. A quieter room this time as not at the front on the main road. Convenient for pubs and restaurants. Good price, better if you book direct. No breakfast available. Overall, a pleasant stay.

Myself and partner stayed here for valentines weekend, the parking is really easy around the back, the staff were so friendly on arriving , In the notes for special requests I had said it was our first child free night in months and it would be nice to have a treat in the room, they had gone above and beyond with dressing the room, adding little touches everywhere with chocolate and Prosecco , there was a lovely amount of coffee and refreshments , the bed was super comfy and the shower was really powerful with high quality shampoo and conditioner , the decor was really interesting as each room was specifically designed to do with something related to the history of Belper what made it feel even more cosy , we only live up the road but really felt we got a break in a place that has a lot to offer . Thank you so much, we will definitely be back .

'Hotel' but no food, no heating in bedroom on coldest night of the year, no hot water. Two stars is generous.

Great service, excellent beer, the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in and a very helpful landlord. All this and it was great value.

Proper pub, serves great beer has bands on doesn't really do food except a sausage roll or pork.pie.

Excellent, only downfall is very limited parking, 13 absolute max, had to find alternative parking. However rooms are excellent, worth the money I paid, decent staff, excellent location, can be noisy if you are in the main road rooms, with windows open, other than that, I recommend, I will return in future.

We booked a room for the night so we could enjoy the sights & pubs of Belper. We arrived a little early but the room was ready so we checked in and went to drop off our bags upstairs. We were on the second floor facing out to the main road but it wasn't too noisy which was nice. The room itself was beautiful and had everything we needed. There was an ensuite with toiletries, tea & coffee facilities, a small ironing board and an iron. The bed was so comfy but we were a little unsure about the duvet as it was a little thin but oh my goodness it kept us very warm (in fact we had to open the window!) There isn't anything bad to say about this place and would highly recommend it to anyone that fancies a night away. There was a band on when we stay and they were brilliant so look out for the live artists and you won't be disappointed. Thanks to the team for a lovely stay, we'll see you again soon 😊

Used to be a decent place to watch the rugby. Not today. Tv too quiet (despite me and others asking for it to be turned up), not all televisions on. The quality of the beer avoided a 1 star review. Sad to see the place like this.

The Grantham Town Fc away daze fans popped in for a pre match drink before playing Belper Town Fc. It looks like a nice pud to visit, for people who are passing through or people who live locally

Great real ale pub in Belper beer kept perfectly. Outside seating and car park at rear. Real fires inside in the colder months and basic bar snacks. Live bands on at weekends on a regular basis, these are good and the pub is nicely busy when on. Nice old world type feel to the place and staff friendly, well recommended 👍🍺

Very poor customer service. Bar staff need extensive training. Initially massively overcharged, resolved that, then ignored when tried to purchase another drink. Went home. Won't be back. Lots of other great pubs in Belper.

Visited Saturday May 20th mid afternoon. Nice traditional pub, very interesting inside, from it's stone construction and room layout I imagine it's very old. The beer garden is really nice with standard picnic benches on a nice grassy area, the grass is real and there's some really well maintained flower beds and small shrubs. It definitely has a 'local' feel to the inside; however, outside is a mix of locals and non locals. Staff were friendly and approachable, beer choice was okay but not exceptionally exciting; however, you'll find something worth having. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area, especially if it's a nice day and you're able to sit in the garden.

Great pub generally, bar service is sometimes a little slow, but room to dance , lots of live bands , differing qualities and genre's , outdoor seating and smoking area. Great pint . All round 'real' pub !

Thank you to Landlord Dan and bar staff Harvey and Amy who looked after us so well and made sure our birthday celebrations for Dads 90th birthday went without a single hitch. We stayed overnight having travelled up on the day of the celebration. Our room was beautifully clean, airy and very comfortable. We had a great time in the bar celebrating and a good night's sleep to send us on our way the next day, rested, refreshed and happy. Cannot recommend the George and Dragon highly enough. Superb accommodation and excellent staff. Thank you.

Pub is cool but the locals are rude. Non-locals are clearly not welcome. But the only pub I’ve ever see dominos being played

We went here for a Rock Night 'disco'. Good music, good beer/cider. It was a well attended evening so the bar staff were kept busy. If you enjoy rock music I would definitely recommend a visit on Rock Night. The venue does have live music nights, check media for dates.

Went here to meet a friend whi was staying overnight. staff were friendly, and bar service was good. rear carpark had ample bays.

Amazing hotel with top service rooms we're very clean and fresh with good feature walls shower was like being at home with lots of pressure quiet in the rooms tea qnd coffee supplements we will be booking in every time we Re up here for work and even a nice weekend break away ☆☆☆☆

Popped in with friends for a drink before dinner. Great little pub, looks very old

We needed a last minute room and they managed to accommodate us within an hour. We were very grateful for their help and for how friendly everyone was. The room was absolutely incredible and a well welcomed rest, everything about our stay was perfect! I’d highly recommend.

Had to find accommodation last minute and these guys went above to see if they had a room free. To our surprise they did and the room was incredibly well decorated, very comfortable, and the staff very helpful too! It’s very affordable too, even for a last minute booking. I’d stay at the George & Dragon Hotel again without a doubt

One of the favourite pubs in Belper. Best pint of guinness I've had, and I've had them across Europe. Lovely staff, decent prices, and best pints.

Absolutely loved our stay here! Cosy, homely pub downstairs with coal fires and a wide choice of real ales, well appointed room which were spotless and well appointed. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and the bar itself has a nice friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended.

That's what I call a proper Derbyshire pub! Great choice of ales and with it's own in house one named after it. Huge space to spread out. Very dog friendly. Small beer garden and car parking at back. On the A6 and within walking distance of Belper Mill and River Gardens so ideal location. Also some hotel rooms upstairs. Amazing live bands, quiz nights, live sport. Great atmosphere and punters. Bar staff super friendly. Highly recommend.

Very good, traditional community pub in Belper, a town now littered with good places to have a drink. The George & Dragon offers plenty of atmosphere, traditional pub food and a decent selection of real ales. I was tipped off to this place, rather surprisingly, by staff at a nearby micro pub, as a good option in the city on my pub crawl between Belper and Derby. And it was. Thoroughly likeable, and recommended!

Great traditional local 'boozer'..Large selection of real ales with a relaxing atmosphere. A nice beer garden to chill out in the rear for the summer months. Craig and Becky always have a welcoming smile. Been in many times with my fiancee and thoroughly enjoyed the visits!

Great pub, they always have a large selection of real ales, from the nationals, Bass, Abbott etc but also lots of local breweries. Great atmosphere when they've got music on, which is at the weekends. Very friendly place, great beer garden at the back too

Exceptional hospitality! Was treated like a king. The beer is phenomenal with a warm jovial set of staff. Some say they travel miles for the live music

A fantastic pub with very attentive and friendly staff. They have a fantastic selection of real ales from all over the country and amazing musical acts on most weekends bringing a great atmosphere to the place. They are huge advocates of local talent with local beers and bands. A true testimant to the Belper community! Couldn't recommend it enough.

As far as traditional pubs go this is brilliant, good beer in a comfortable surrounding. For those that wish to watch there are TV screens that usually show sport but from my experience almost always on mute so others not interested are not disrupted. Staff are always welcoming and always have an eye on the bar to know who is next to be served. Overall a brilliant place to go for a drink.
