I stayed there for 2 weeks and it was bad for many reasons. 1) The hotel is filthy: During the 2 weeks cleaners didn’t clean my room even once. It was dirty already when I arrived: dirt on windowsill, a lot of mould in the shower, minor dirt on bed sheets. The room is lined with a fitted carpet (so gross by definition!) which wasn’t even thoroughly hoovered. I arrived on Friday. By Tuesday the bins in my room were overflowing. No one empties the bins or gives you toilet paper or new towels unless you explicitly ask or put your full bin in the corridor. They do absolute bare minimum. I also saw a cleaner putting fresh towels on the filthy floor in the corridor. A second set of towels I got was smelly. The stairwell is never hoovered. Needless to say the cleaner never refilled my tea/coffee supplies. My bedsheets were not changed at all. 2) Facilities: a) when I arrived there was no toilet paper in the room and the bathroom light was broken – it doesn’t switch off. I went to the pub to ask. I got a toilet roll and was told to that the cleaner would bring more on Monday but this didn’t happen. The light, I was told, was broken. No explanation why and when it’d be fixed. So I needed to sleep with the bathroom light on at night for 2 weeks. The bathroom fan doesn’t work. b) There’s no proper wifi. There’s only Pub’s feeble connection that most of the time doesn’t work (and is insecure). I had to buy extra data bundle on my phone to use it as a hotspot. c) There’s a kettle covered in lime but there are no sockets anywhere near the kettle so you need to use at the night table stand d) they don’t even provide a glass to put your toothbrush in e) thoughtless arrangements: there’s a mirror but it’s nowhere near a socket that you could use for drying/styling hair f) there’s a desk but there’s no desk chair, only an armchair, so it’s impossible to use the desk for any work g) there’s no proper wardrobe so and very few hangers. One of the hanger is broken – I hurt myself with it and slashed my wrist with it – perhaps this is left on purpose for unhappy guests. 3) terrible customer service and communication: a) since I saw a few reviews complaining that there’s no kettle in the room I emailed the hotel several times to ask about it. I sent around 5 emails/booking.com messages. I’ve never heard back so I bought a travel kettle with me. This extra cost could be avoided if they had replied to me. B) I was asked to pay before even seeing the room. C) I was told I’d be emailed the invoice. I wasn’t. My email remained unanswered. Eventually I had to go the pub and ask for a printout (and toilet paper!). The printout wasn’t even a proper invoice, just details of my reservation. Thank God my company refunded me based on that (over £2500!!). D) Booking.com description doesn’t inform you that the hotel is above a pub so get ready for noisy nights. You’re informed about it only once you’ve put the booking through! Fortunately, they pub closes at 11pm and it’s quite by 11.20pm. Monday-Thursday are quieter. Positives: it’s an excellent location if you need to access Salvation Army buildings or the hospitals. There are convenient connections to many central locations.

This place was done up within the last couple of years and the interior is actually quite nice. It has an unfortunately-positioned cheap-looking quiz machine which dominates the view from the street and makes it look worse than it is. I went to watch the second half of a football match so I wasn't there long but the Diet Coke I ordered was very weak - the postmix needed changing or adjusting. I didn't eat but the pizzas are.progided by Basilico, which are decent when I have had them elsewhere.

Stayed here for a Saturday night in May. Arrived just after 3pm, which was check-in time, only to find that the room hadn't been cleared, so had to wait another 30 mins to check in which was frustrating, given that we had an appointment locally. Were given a lemonade to drink whilst waiting. Friendly staff behind the counter, but no explanation as to what was going on. Finally got to the room, dropped bags and left. Noticed that there was a rubbish bin with someone else's rubbish left on the table which wasn't pleasant. Returned later that night to discover that the the light in the bathroom would not switch off, nor the extractor fan, so it was loud and bright all night and frustrating it just never switched off all night! Didn't sleep at all because of this, nor was there anyone to ask for assistance. Checked out the next morning, but it wasn't clear what the procedure should be - where to leave the key card? The pub itself was closed, so just left it inside the front door. Felt a little odd. Also noticed that people had been smoking in the guest rooms, it stank of smoke and there were empty cigarette packets laying on the floor :-(

PLEASE DO NOT TRUST THIS SHABBY HOTEL! READ ALL THE BAD REVIEWS VERY CAREFULLY!!! My in-laws came to visit London over the easter break. They did the check-in and went to their room. The beddings didn't look fresh, the towels were covered in dirt and the bins were still full. Me, my partner and my in-laws all came back later in the night, in the hope that the room situation will be sorted. When we arrived, the lady at the bar told us they couldn't get the keys to get clean towels! This was just unbelievable. My in-laws decided to stay with us instead and get a refund. We said we would give the key card back when the confirmation of the refund will come through on email. The pub/hotel ‘owner’ (who was surprisingly around the whole time) got involved and completely escalated the situation, threatening to call the police! We are now still waiting to get a refund. Please avoid this horrible place at all costs. This is by far the WORST service I have experienced in London. For a better alternative, please go to Church Street Hotel which is a couple of minutes away, my dad stayed there a couple of months ago and he had a great time.

Our local has been refurbed and reborn. For years, the neighbourhood had abandoned it as it had become a place of despair. NOW IT"S BACK and so are the regulars... and new faces too. Like, Johnathon the manager who is thoughtful and keen on supporting the community. Now... onto the important bit. The drinks. A pint of Fosters is 3.75. Yes, you read that right. It's not my tipple of choice, but all the drinks are massively subsidised by Craft Union. It's the perfect spot in a cost of living crisis (and it's a gorgeous sun trap in the late afternoon). And right next to Kings, where those NHS workers could probably do with a cheap vino while decompressing. There isn't food but Johnathon is happy for you to Deliveroo or bring your own! So happy this lynchpin of Denmark Hill is back.

It's back. The George Canning is well and truly back on great form. Taken over by Craft Union and manager Johnathon, they've made this local spot the place where the community wants to hang out once more. This is due in no small part to their friendly service and what could happily be described as pre-millenium prices. Come visit and see for yourself.

The George Canning reopened on Wednesday 25 August after a major refurbishment. I am pleased to report that they have started serving real ale again. Two cask beers on handpump when I visited: Doom Bar and Timothy Taylor's Landlord. And the Landlord is a bargain at £3.35 for a pint. Lots of outdoor seating most of it covered. Four screens showing sport. Very friendly and helpful staff.

What can i say about this pub. Fantastic pretty much sums up my experience. Firstly the staff were very polite and friendly and the pub is well organised and maintained to a high standard. One of the pub ladies shouted at us and was aggressive - it was scary and definitely racist. When some of our friends went to the garden to see if there was seating she said 'i saw you sent your people to the back' - she chased them and aggressively told them they have to buy drinks if they are coming here. She also shouted at us when we were moving a stool closer to the table. She plugged out all the machines by our table - the TV and the slot machine when we sat down. The other staff members served us ok, but they didn't address their colleagues behaviour and ignored that she basically chased us out of the pub. It was a terrible experience and I'm never spending money there again.

Let me start by saying that the food is good, Once we arrived there was something to wait for, fortunately we waited a short time but in a short time the queue was created after us. And everything is very fast. You order from the QR code and you can also pay from there. Minimal contact with the staff which is fine except that at the end of brunch (having literally seen the waitress once) together with the food I am asked to give a tip mandatory… but where are we in America?? always the usual 9 and something euros which however, given that there is no real service, is ridiculous for me because then they count on the fact that even if the tip you can remove it, a normal person is ashamed to ask the waitress to remove the included tip and I also kept quiet. It seems absurd to me that this thing has totally changed my way of brunching also because rightly the food is good and therefore you also spend enough for what you actually eat - the option to remove the tip should be selectable and deselectable by yourself independently.

We have been coming back to the pub for several years and are very satisfied. It’s located central yet in a not to busy area. The rooms fulfill their purpose and despite my sensitive skin I've never had any problems. The staff were always super friendly and accommodating. The owners' dogs are probably the cutest welcoming committee in London. Huge praise goes to the kitchen. I love the food in the pub and would come back again and again just for that.

The Red Lion 📍407 Walworth Rd, London SE17 2AW 🚇 Elephant & Castle 🍺 £3.80 Carling ❤️ A busy high street pub full of local characters. . Across London in the 1930’s the Truman brewery employed the services of architect Arthur Edward Sewell. Some of the finest looking pubs I’ve been too have been designed by his fair hand, one of his pubs that survives is here at The Red Lion in Walworth. Pub architecture may not be everyone’s cup of tea but just think about how much money, effort and ultimately love went in to creating these social places to sell beer to the masses. Here you can just marvel at this majestic 1930’s built pub, you cannot help but admire the stone work, the art deco accents and the imposing nature of this pub. . This pub is situated on busy Walworth Road and about a fifteen minute walk from Elephant & Castle Tube. On arrival, I starting taking a few photos outside and then about thirty lads cycled by popping wheelies on both sides of the road, it looked cool but it was an accident waiting to happen. . I proceeded in to the pub and ordered a beer, the choice was limited and I decided on a pint of Carling. I’m not really a fan of Carling but at under £4 was fair enough and my pint was ok. This was the busiest pub I had been in all day, maybe that’s down to location but I think more so it’s popularity. I was look for a pew as there was nowhere to sit, so I asked this fella if it was ok to sit at his table. He excepted and I ended up having a great chat with Michael a very informed and knowledgeable chap but unfortunately he was a Liverpool fan 😬. We ended putting the world to rights over a pint, one of the most purest things to do in a pub. . There was a good crowd in on this Saturday afternoon and a great buzz about this proper locals boozer. Everyone was either deep in conversation or fixed on the footy scores on the huge screen in the corner of the pub. There were Lots of characters in here and every now and then roars of laughter would come from different parts of the pub. . The decor was all you want a proper pub to be, a lot of which was original. Dark panelling around the walls, slightly low lit and behold the red carpet which seals the deal for me. This pub featured in the film Dom Hemingway with a scene with Jude Law & Richard E Grant, I put the clip in my bio so you can have a look. . Walworth has proven to be a great place to experience and enjoy locals pubs. The big bonus here is the setting, this is old Trumans boozer is full of character and characters. If you fancy going a bit of piste and finding a pub that reminds you of London pubs of old, The Red Lion is a wonderful example of a proper London pub. . 📊 Information correct on visiting 05/03/22
