We have revisited The George & Dragon in July 2024 for a drink .We were all very pleased we called in as we were really impressed by the quality of the Facers Flintshire Mountain Mild . This would appear to a nearly permanently basis . It is a superb example of a dark mild for only £3.60 a pint . Visited George and the Dragon early evening on Friday 18 May 2018 for the first time after seeing it's entry in the Good Beer Guide. We managed to park the car in the street just up the road from the George and the Dragon. The pub is an interesting 1735 building slightly set back from the road. On entering the bar is directly in front of you with seating and tables both to the left and right. There is another room past the bar. There is a very good range of real ales on the bar with 5 handpulls on the bar. We had a well kept drink of New Brew Steam Stout , from Newport, at the very good price of £3.00 a pint. The place was busy but there was still space. Both the staff and customers were friendly and welcoming.

This is one of those special pubs. It was busy with locals - real ale and keg but only local stuff. No music, tv, WiFi - just good old fashion chat. Clearly the best pub in Gnosall and one not to be missed. It is super dog friendly- oh and cash only.

I just love the fact that we were new visitors walked up from the canal. We were warmly welcomed, nice beer so my husband says, I had a spritzer but the place was full of locals all talking to each other. No one on phones. Great place . Keep up the good work.

Cracking ale house in Gnosall. Won a couple of awards. Great selection of ale and cider. The couple who run it are very friendly, as are the locals. It’s cash only so bring some money. A very kind local bought me a pint as i had no cash on me. They like a pint round these parts.Thank you again! Has pork pies and batches I think? Very highly recommended 🍻

Friendly staff and locals , no fruit machines music or distractions, just beer and conversation, rare in this day and age. The George is a small but comfortable typical rural pub set in the the quaint village of Gnosall. The welcome and service is always splendid. Fine, well presented ales await as do several interesting bar snacks. To be honest in my opinion this establishment is best suited to a more mature type of customer. There's a nice friendly atmosphere here and if you're in need of a pint or two, pop in and judge for yourselves. I don't think that you will be disappointed.

We travelled across to Gnosall early evening Friday 18 May ,2018 for a drink from new Beer Guide pubs in the area. We were able to park in the street and have a short walk to the George and the Dragon. The pub is friendly and welcoming with a small bar in front of you as you walk in. The bar has five real ale handpulls with a variety of local beers and beer types. We ordered halves of New Brew Steam Stout , very reasonably priced at £3.00 a pint. The beer was well kept and interestingly only from Newport in Shropshire about 6 miles away. There are two spaces with tables to the left and right of the front building with a small rear room with more tables and seats. The locals and staff were friendly and helpful. An all round lovely experience and looking forward to further drink sampling at the George and the dragon!

Only went in for a few drinks while visiting but it was friendly, cosy and well stocked with great beers. It's a real 'boozer' and that's nothing to be ashamed of. There are lots of pubs in the village that don't quite know what they are but the George and Dragon is quite clear on it's purpose and achieves it 100%. More pubs could and should learn a lesson from this place. Keep up the good work.

The George is a 'micro pub' (hope that's right?) and is what us older drinkers remember - local craft beers / cider / lager. No food menu or TV or music. But a place to relax and enjoy good company. Well worth a visit

Went in for the first time yesterday late pm and I wish I had gone in here sooner. It has a lovely atmosphere the landlady is really friendly and welcoming. Great selection of drinks including wine and spirits as well as the ales and ciders. The regulars in there were also really friendly and best bit of all is that dogs are more than welcome in there. Will definitely be back!

Well what can I say, this is possibly the most perfect Micro pub in the country, based on simple rules of No televisions, jukeboxes, gaming machines, quasi pub/restaurant fusion, just a brilliant friendly atmosphere mixed with great beers and banter is always on offer from the friendly locals You can enjoy some of Lynn's wonderful home made Sausage Rolls, Small individual Pies and Ham or Cheese and Onion cobs. You may be invited to try piece of one of her famous cheese cakes as she is often seen dashing in and out of the bar from the kitchen replenishing the ever depleting stock of the excellent simple offerings! George the Landlord prides himself on the excellent selection of crystal clear and extremely well kept beers and larger, he also has an excellent offering of whiskeys and Gins! If you are passing through Gnosall whether by Road or via the canal on a narrow boat it's worth the effort to make the first visit, you'll soon realise it won't be an effort to visit the second time!

If you like a proper pub, superbly hosted, serving fine beers and ciders, in a warm friendly environment, then the multi award winning George & Dragon is for you..... George and Lynn are fantastic hosts who certainly know how to serve a great pint and have created a real gem on the Gnosall high street. The atmosphere is welcoming and the locals will make you feel at home.....this is an honest pub where conversation is king without the distraction of wifi or music. The home made bar snacks are delicious too....... visit once and you'll be back. It's award winning for good reason.

What relief to find a pub with no music, machines or TV's (go elsewhere if that's what you're after). Definitely not a restaurant, but a wonderful small cosy pub with no Carling or big-name beers. 4 or 5 regularly changing beers from small producers (including, always, Holden's Golden Glow) and a similar number of Ciders - all at incredible prices these days, which is one of the basic principles of the place. Log-burners to keep you warm in winter, and Lynn's Cheese and Onion rolls on the bar. Occasional home-made sausage rolls and such-like. They have "pie night" on a Sunday evening at 7pm, where regulars make the pie - slices available (for a donation into the Charity bottle on the bar - they have raised an amazing amount for local charities and good causes) if there's any left after the "Pie Club" members have tried it!

Great little pub, Good Band on Saturday night, friendly professional landlord called Steve who keeps a good clean house.. Very Reasonable prices, fast barstaff and a friendly place with a good vibe..
