nice ice cream but definitely better places to go!

Friendly helpful staff, delicious food. Both adults and kids loved it.

We wanted to treat the kids to some ice-cream and checked online what time this shop closed and it said 10pm. But when we got there just after 5pm it was closed, despite the sign on the door also saying it closes at 10pm. There wasn't even a notice on the door to explain why - at least be courteous to potential customers if a buissiness is expected to be open and it's not. Very disappointed.

staff are rude we got slagged off stared at laughed at and overall felt judged whilst i was trying to eat

Decided to visit gelato royale wigan lane today and I can say that it’s my last time! Ordered our waffles and protein shakes to then be told it’s cash over orders of £3, shocked was an understatement but I thought ok, went to the nearest cash machine then straight back to pay, they then overcharged me and I asked for a receipt and the said “we will put it in your bag” what a shock it wasn’t in the bag. Music to load that the person taking our order couldn’t hear me, waffles dry and overcharged.

Love the food, pretty place although service was slow and there wasnt much people but 9/10

Writing this review after 2 bad experiences here. The first was an online order made via Uber Eats, after accepting our delivery order and taking payment, the order was then cancelled without any explanation. We were not informed about this cancellation until we went back online to check the order status, as we had been waiting a while. Months later, we are still waiting on our refund for this order. The second visit was an order in the restaurant. We ordered the white chocolate, coconut and Rafaello waffle with an extra scoop of raspberry ripple gelato and strawberry slices. We were told that they could not make it as they had ran out of Rafaello, so we suggested just putting any other white chocolate pieces on instead. (As we could see that they had white Bueno, Milkybar etc.) Also there were problems with the till, so we couldn’t pay by card and they had to write down our order three times. The lady behind the till was quite rude and appeared inconvenienced by our request. She suggested using Ferrero Rocher but we said no as we didn’t like them, so they agreed to just put anything else on that was white chocolate. When the order arrived, it was completely wrong despite writing our order down several times. It had sprinkled chopped nuts instead of coconut, toffee sauce instead of white chocolate sauce, no extra gelato scoop and no strawberries, also they had put Ferrero Rocher on after the whole conversation about not wanting them! We did wonder what would have happened if we had some sort of nut allergy!

Visited here for my daughters birthday with family and friends. Was served by a few people after a long wait, one young girl serve in her coat. Cutlery was dirty, so got that changed, notice a chip in one of the glasses and noticed hairs in 2 of the Sundaes. Refused to eat or replace so got offered a full refund. Day later my bank stated 2 orders had been taken out my account. Went back up, refused full refund, 1st there was no money in the till, then it was they couldn't find my receipt, next it was having to speak to the manager. The lady who served me walked off to make this call which I thought was ignorant as I needed to speak to her. Still refused refund. Left a contact number for manager to contact me to arrange to meet up. No contact and still £83.19 missing in my account. This place used to amazing, clean and great customer service. Family and friends will not be using this place again.

Ordered from Gelato Royale Wigan lane. We ordered a nutella and strawberry crepe and an after eight sundae. When it finally arrived, an hour late, it was completely the wrong order. Got a nutella waffle and a kinder bueno milkshake (came freezing and tasted gross) Rang the restaurant and the woman on the phone was very rude!! Tried to sort something out and she put the phone down on me, kept doing this. Nothing sorted at all for us no refund made. Will definitely not be ordering from here again!! Disgraceful

Visited, was quiet. Ordered Sundae, Crepe and Carrot Cake. Crepe was too thick , undercooked and stodgy and the sliced banana was way past it's best. The Carrot Cake was obviously stale and a struggle to cut through. The Sundae was nice. One member of staff enquired how our food was and we said "bad". She just walked off and cleaned a table. Asked for a refund and got one without issue. Food simply shouldn't have been served like this.

Ordered a delivery which should have arrived at 4 pm. They rang us at 410 to say they hadn't got one of our items. Finally arrived at 510! No apology . Won't be going there again. Rubbish service.

Ordered on just eat, waited 1 hour 30 min as it had said, had notification order on way. Nothing ever turned up & no answer on telephone. Poor service

2nd time ordered a delivery. Really enjoyed it. Turned up on time and was delicious. The Toffifee cookie dough is out of this world. Defo be ordering again soon 😁

Lovely little place, the decor is incredible, staff were polite and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and the ice cream was kids size portion, but definitely ideal for an adult sized portion 😊

The desserts are so amazing. Mostly get milkshakes, lovely naughty treat 😄 lovely staff and beautifully decorated

Slow service understaffed and no food

Literally just ordered through 'just eat' for my sister whose birthday it is today. I don't live near her so I took a pot luck at a local dessert place to her and I'm so glad I chose gelato royale. They were quick on delivery and my sister assures me the food is AMAZING (particularly the waffle) but what sets them off different to all the other nice dessert places is I asked through the delivery instructions if they could wish my sister happy birthday and they so kindly added in an extra piece of cake and wrote happy birthday all over it and the delivery driver wished her happy birthday as they handed it over. It made my sister very happy as she wasn't feeling particularly birthday-y today so THANK YOU!

Such a lovely little desert shop, food and drink was amazing!!

Placed an order today, multiple churros, drinks, donuts, cookie dough and ice cream. Was very disappointed in the quality and quantity of the food. Nothing tasted fresh, the donuts were horribly stale to the point where the rice crispies on top were chewy, not very pleasant so didn't eat. The cookie dough was so thin not worth the money at all. And the churros tasted like they had been reheated. Very tough to bite through and weirdly soggy in the middle. First and last time ordering from here. What an absolute rip off.

I have ordered an avocado milkshake and a frerro roche waffle both tasted delicious. Highly recommended. Fast delivery too

Ordered 3 pretty big orders from here previously, never anything wrong with them. Absolutely delicious, even slightly warm when it arrives which is a surprise as we're about 25 mins away from the store. Highly recommend!

Placed an order at 8 o'clock I was told it would be 35 minutes. When waiting 2 hours a rang up twice to find out where my order was and what was going on. The lad on the phone told me "oh where busy I sent it out ages ago" if it was sent out ages ago I would of received it ages ago. I ordered the Sticky toffee pudding which came cold in a pot with just enough sauce to cover the top. Why was I waiting 2 hours for a cold cake upside down in the tub. Both portions of ice cream were melted and liquefied. For the price of this place I expected them to deliver. Joke, poor effort, not worth wasting your money here.

Shocking waffle shocking service full of excuses on the phone they have no idea in that place!!! bunch of muppets!!!! told us they was going to come out and replace then gave us another excuse when we called back they just cancelled the order told us just eat gone down Ordered banana strawberry waffle asked for no chocolate sauce. It came with white chocolate no wafer half of the waffle bare if only I could add the photo never never again

6 staff in shop , 7 delivery drivers and NOT one wearing a mask . All drivers going in the side door , no masks on , no sanitising cleaning, staff coming outside putting rubbish in the bin , wiping her hands in her apron , allowing customers for collecting to enter the shop with no mask. Not even the owner manager with a mask. I know this cus I was a driver and I always wore my mask , I left as my safety comes first . there is no Covid law guidelines abided by the manager of her staff . They don’t care about the safety, it’s all about getting the orders . CUSTOMERS PLEASE BE AWARE

Ordered a Nutella crepe via just eat, order arrived on time, upon cutting into the crepe it was quite evident that the chocolate sauce on the inside of the crepe was not Nutella and instead a cheap chocolate spread substitute tasting and looking so differently from the distinct taste of Nutella. Not happy with the product we contacted the store only to be greeted with arguably the worst customer service I have ever received over the phone, the staff were ignorant and could be heard laughing at the complaint in the background whilst we were still on the phone, belittling the complaint and Making out that it was us in the wrong, we could also hear the staff ask the question 'have they recieved the food? (No we were just complaining about a product that we hadn't received clearly) we were then passed onto another member of staff who was equally as rude questioning our complaint. Can safely say will never be ordering from them again if that's the quality of the food or the way they treat their customers

I tried calling the shop 4 times no answer ordered at 8pm still waiting at 11pm give up with this place now 3 times out of 5 times I've tried going to them this year it's not arrived. hopefully they sort management out soon

Awesome atmosphere very good ice cream and brownies!

Been here a few times and it always been really nice. We came last night the cookie dough was awful like it was off. The smoothie is was disgusting. One of the Staff was smoking outside when we arrived then she came inside and started preparing someone’s food without washing her hands!

Totally shocking took wrong order then blamed me!

Me and my housemate ordered for delivery and the food was amazing. It arrived earlier than expected. We both had kinder bueno cookie dough with ice cream. Very tasty! Will definitely order again! :)

Previously I have ordered on several occasions from Gelato Royale and each time I have thoroughly enjoyed both their burgers and waffles. Unfortunately today my partner ordered from them and her food arrived cold... Both the 'warm' waffle and more concerningly the burger which was so cold that the cheese hadn't even melted. She called to complain to the establishment but two separate employees hung up on her after making inaccurate claims and refusing to discuss that the quality of their food would ever not be up to standard. This is the worst example of customer service either of us have experienced during lockdown and certainly will not be using this place ever again. I urge anyone thinking of ordering from here not to waste their money.

Awful! I waited on delivery for almost 2 and a half hours! The food arrived over an hour later than it should of done and when I rang up to ask the staff didn’t seam to have a clue about my order... and couldn’t give me a new time of arrival ... would not recommend and would not go back!

Absolutely shocking, after spending almost £30 on my order there was the kids bubblisious sundae! Meant to be bubblegum gelato ice cream but it was just normal vanilla, my little girl almost broke her teeth on the solid marshmallows! I’ve always thought marshmallows was meant to be soft!! There was little black bits in the ice cream so after my daughter looking forward to a treat she was really upset it went in the bin!! After ordering from here for a year I’ll never be ordering again, very very disappointed!!

I ordered food via just eat. When it arrived 2 of the puddings were frozen despite having supposedly been hot (sticky toffee pudding). I rang the shop and was told they had none left. I challenged this as it had arrived already. I was then told they didnt have a microwave. I asked for a refund and was told no. The saving grace was i managed to get the money refunded to my just eat account. I wont order from here again until the staff are trained in customer service

I was really disappointed. I came to celebrate my birthday. I've ordered fondue with strawberries, but strawberries were covered with green mould. When I've asked for fresh one, the answer was 'it is fresh, from the new package but I'll give you a new one'. I heared staff (blond lady with glasses) talking about it to another staff. It was really rude. Nobody said: 'sorry, it shouldn't happened', 'you're right' or 'it's our fault'. I felt that it's normal to offer customer not fresh food and I shouldn't even ask to change it. When I've got other strawberries it wasn't washed. That's not normal. Unable to eat it. Crepe was good, smoothies too, but noone know what's inside. My friend's smoothies was strawberry flavour. I'm sure it wasn't washed. Just hope it wasn't covered with mould before they blended it. It wasn't my first dessert there, but the last one for sure.

Excellent desert destination in Wigan. The waffles are light and fluffy, yet crispy. The gelato is excellent in variety and flavour. The churros are hot, crunchy and just great with the dipping chocolate. You will be hard pressed to stop at one. There is an excellent selection of crepes and brownies as well. The weak link is the doughnuts. Avoid them!

Ordered 2 cheesecakes was told the first one had been dropped on the floor after they'd told me the one I wanted there wasn't any left. Then when the one they did have arrived I found multiple pieces of something that very closely resembled mould. Refused to eat it at all. The only good thing about the order was the milkshakes. Don't think I want to risk ordering again.

The variety of deserts is reasonable, at a good price. Unfortunately, there are occasional issues where orders will be forgotten or not served. At my most recent visit, whist I stress the deserts are good, it took over 40 minutes to receive 2 cookie doughs. This happened after I went to enquire about the deserts, and was told "there was a problem in the kitchen"

Called in first time today. They didn't know what cakes were gluten free and when they looked in the book they had only incredients listed for 1 cake and that had wheat in. Just had a coffee but when tried to pay with a Northern Ireland note they wouldn't take it even when I explained it was legal tender. For crying out loud they could have checked this online if they thought I was not telling the truth. Northern Ireland is in the United Kingdom and their money is sterling and is legal tender. Don't think we will be going back. Staff not that helpful.

Great takeaway service and yummy milkshakes

Stopped of for a quick coffee and a cake, the cake was nice and also the coffee, not much else to say maybe agree with some of the other reviews, that the staff need to know more about what they are selling and what’s in it.

First time in this absolutely glorious establishment.The delicacys served, were mouthwateringly delicious & although above average price, Well worth every mouthful.However. I discovered to my dismay. That the 2 staff working, weren't well trained. I asked 1st one "Whats that" as I pointed out a vanilla looking ice cream, with what looked like red sherbert in it. She didn't know & ran to ask another employee. He said it's red velvet. When i asked what's in it, he didnt know, just knew the name ???WTF ??? FFS Sake !!! At least teach your staff the basics. What if one of my family party of 4 had a nut allergy ??? Loved the product. Staff training massively lacking. In fact my waffle order had the option of strawberries, or bannanas, but i wasn't given a choice xx

Watched the new shop in pemberton being done up lovely how they have done it was just looking but staff very kindly gave us tubs of ice cream it was deliceous dodnt want it to end staff are lovely and a very relaxing place highly recommend it

Had a great time! The desserts are gorgeous, staff is lovely, nothing too much trouble. If your looking for a sweet treat then this is deffo the place, it's very clean and bright.

If you are a slim man aspiring to be obese, i suggest you dine here everyday. I came in and tried the chocolate crepe which was great. You can order off their website and get a 10% discount. What a great deal. Its like saying buy 9 cakes get your 10th cake free. I will come here again. As i inspire to become obese and be a costly burden on the NHS, and to annoy people who try to pass me in supermarket aisles but who are unable to squeeze past me.

Desserts are fab but delivery has always been almost an hour. The last time almost 2 so never again. Since oening the competition has increased and the service, delivery are as they shouldsb and even the food is as good if not better.

Waited over 2 hours to be told it's on it's way 4 times. Abysmal service and delivery. Wrong item turned when it eventually did come, was cold and ice cream melted. Advise you to steer clear. £18 wasted.

This is a lovely little cafe in the Mab's Cross area of Wigan not far away from the hospital, and a fine place to get a sugar fix, whether you just want a cup of fresh brewed tea or coffee, or one of their amazing flavoured milkshakes with a gazillion choices to pick from, and then there's the cakes and fresh cooked American style waffles served with your choice of chocolate, sweets, fruit, caramels, with fresh cream and or one of the many flavours of ice cream or gelatos. If you walk in here feeling a bit low, you'll certainly walk out on a sugar high that's for sure.

Just received a nutella crepe, it was chocolate sauce not nutella and very little of it on. Very disappointed!!!

Tonight I was visiting my friend’s house and she had raved about the waffles so we ordered some.

Tonight I ordered online (as I have done before). I paid online and was awaiting the delivery.

First time visit went to counter told to take a seat and check menu after 10 mins 3 kids choosing plus the wife we go to order to be told no waffles as machine broken Why not tell us when we walked in

Literally just received my order. Daughter ordered banoffee and nutella waffle which was fine. Mine on the other hand was far from what I ordered. Asked for nutella crepe with banana and got a crepe with banana and chocolate sauce on. No taste of nutella at all. Paid 7 quid for something I didn't order. Not happy at all will NOT be going back!!!

Makes very fine meals ranging from waffles to cookie dough, always arrives on time and warm with spoons supplied via Gelato. Would suggest 10/10

I have visited here a few times, especially when it first opened. Prices are fair as you get a lot of toppings. I have had a few items from their menu, with only one issue. Which was the smoothie, purely based on the fact it is literally just blended fruit. With that being said, it is what it was advertised as, i just thought it would of tasted better.

Nice place, not for me though as I am diabetic. The grandkids loved it.

Gross - staff think it’s acceptable to hand the food with their bare hands when they are also handling cash. Lack of basic food hygiene, so I didn’t bother ordering.

Would strongly recommend no one visits this establishment. The quality of the ice cream is shocking tastes like powder....Two of our part could not eat ice cream.the shop assisant could not if cared less and spoke to my wife with such disrespect it almost caused a confrontation. No money back for ice cream that could not be eaten .it was like powder..I can see this place closing down pretty soon .no one in there middle of a busy day. I have never seen a place with such a dissinterest. If I could give this a zero I would.places like this deserve to close down.

Gorgeous ice cream parlour, beautifully fitted out. Serves a wide variety of quality ice cream, crepes and desserts. Excellent tea , coffee and soft drinks.

First class service always polite staff .

Very ignorant staff, whispering about customers, find them very patronising would not recommend and the deserts are over rated!

A bit expensive but fabulous ice cream and cakes

Well I liked this place. Clean, good service and the product was good. Son had Brownie Chocoholic Waffle with ice-cream and cream - no complaints there. The waffle was warm, light and not overbearing. My friend had one (massive) scoop of cherry ice-cream in a waffle cone and I had a lovely mocha coffee! We'll definitely be going there again. I don't think it was overpriced at all - the above came to around £8.50 (ish).

We took my daughter for her 27th birthday my husband ordered red velvet cheese cake omg cud not put is folk thru it told a member of staff who took it away also removed the remaining cake from the fridge and then said pick something else that’s stale then I’m guessing was the supervisor told us she had been off for 3 days and the cake hadn’t been checked

Took two hours from ordering to receiving the order, had to call twice to find out where my order was and wasn't contacted by staff to tell me there was a delay. Brownies were super thick and sickly, and the bananas in my crepe didn't taste right. I usually enjoy the banana and strawberry crepes from the Treats restaurants and hoped this would be the same and wanting to order a second one, but I couldn't even finish this one because it really wasn't very nice. Very disappointing. :(

Outstanding service and quality inside and they also do a delivery service we've used. From placing the order online to receiving delivery on a Sunday evening was only 10 minutes. I'd highly recommend Gelato Royale to anyone.

Food was good, nothing exciting. Unique decor inside and out. However food was overpriced for what it was. Staff slightly unwelcoming as we visited, ate, and then when we wanted to use the toilet she rudely questioned us although the bathrooms are public. Also, we was misled to think the "kiddie surprise" was a treat. However when it came, you should of seen the state of it. DO NOT RECOMEMND KIDDIE SURPRISE
