Bird I'th Hand in Wigan

First time ever in this pub in all the years I've lived here. Friendly atmosphere from patrons and barmaid, made us feel very welcome.

Had a experience with someone bared from pub but owner said it was OK as long as his relative was there. Felt the pub under much safer leadership with last owner. Don't feel safe as owner don't give a much safety when you flag something what is wrong, takes defensive side and ignore you.

Friendly staff. Decent pub quiz on Mondays!

Monday night is quiz night - great crowd, lots of fun.

Came in for a Monday quiz night was really good ... I came 3rd !! Always a good atmosphere every time I have been in. Apparently it's had a bad reputation in the past but in the last 3 months I've been here I really can't understand why. So I've bought my new years eve tickets today. Great decorations for Christmas too

Great pub. Very friendly staff, nice beer ( dark fruit drinker ), good atmosphere, good outdoor space at the back, darts and pool.

A meeting place with friends that turned out to be a great night. How many times do you go in a pub for the first time and leave knowing the landlords name and wanting to go back? We had our autistic daughter with us and the whole pub made us welcome. A great night that we will definitely want to repeat again. Thanks Tony

Went to Bird I'th Hand as it was a staple name of Hindley, safe to say as usual this pub has constantly changed hands and has suffered for it, even the current managers have no clue. Won't be returning.

Friendly staff and good prices. Also, home to the Hindley Veterans.

Only called in for a quick drink with my friend who only lives nearby as it's his local and sat in the beer garden.Prices for drinks is the average for a public house in yhe area.

Bird is great, a friend of mine goes religiously but i don't go out most weekends but when i do its got to be the Bird, theres always atmosphere but not too packed, really cheap pints and the locals are really accomodating, its my number one choice on a night out now.

Good pub, great draught beer, great staff.

Website advertises food...apparently they stopped this months ago. Asked for dry white wine...they only have one sort which is sweet and warm as they don't have chilled wine! Ladies toilets, well, no toilet seat. The pub is an absolute dump. My advice is stay clear.

Lovely pub serving traditional ales

Really disappointing. One hand pump in use, with hand written label saying Hobgoblin Gold. What came out of the pump was definitely not gold. Probably regular Hobgoblin but tasted too off to tell properly. Guiness also tasted off. And we left both drinks unfinished.

Only local pub I know in Wigan with a veterans society, well worth a visit

Juke box has a mind of its own only plays what it wants . karaoke D J only favours women so men go elsewhere if u want to sing. beer is good staff are nice.

Not been in for a while and what a let down...wine was warm...no smirnoff vodka...and toilets...no comment.

A proper pub with car parking and outdoor seating. Drinks are cheap but it can attract some characters if you know what I mean. Sometimes they have karaoke and thur quiz night.

Tony Stone on a friday night is good entertainnment for the karaoke!

I've read some bad reviews on this place but honestly can't for the life of me figure out why. First time in here after driving past most days for nearly 2 years, and I'm glad I stopped in. It's not far from the bus stop so getting here and home is easy. It's an old school pub, but it is nicely decorated. Seems to have been refurbished recently, and looks good for it. Not tried the food but the beers on offer are well selected. Definitely be back here. Cheers!
