Contrary to many of the reviews we had a very good experience at Gazette. It offers a pleasantly traditional French bistro menu, the waitress who served us was very friendly, and the food arrived in good time and was delicious. Wine ( per glass) was reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it.

Esta fue la tercera vez que vinimos al restaurante South Ken y la primera vez que estábamos muy decepcionados. Mesa demasiado pequeña y ligeramente incómoda. El menú de comida se redujo significativamente con una elección limitada y lo peor de todo el servicio - tuvimos que esperar 15 minutos para pedir bebidas, luego tuvimos que reconfirmar nuestro pedido de bebidas tres veces ya que no podían hacerlo bien, la camarera no podía abrir la botella de vino, tuvimos que solicitar agua ya que se olvidó de traerla la primera vez (lo mismo para el mayo... ) y luego trajo la principal mientras todavía estábamos comiendo nuestro entrante! Finalmente, solo trajeron la cuenta y ni siquiera preguntaron si queríamos desierto... conociendo esta institución desde hace varios años, esto fue muy decepcionante ya que sé que pueden entregar muy buena comida y servicio. Espero que el equipo de gestión de Gazette examine seriamente cómo funciona este restaurante, ya que está derribando toda la franquicia. Recomendaría Gazette Battersea en su lugar.

La comida aquí era bastante buena, pero decepcionado enormemente por el servicio y la mala organización general. Para una reserva a la hora del almuerzo a la 1 pm no esperaría que todo esto tomara las 2 horas que lo hizo, me gusta un entorno relajado y no sentir prisa, pero esto simplemente se sentía como si nos estuvieran olvidando. Nos mostraron a nuestra mesa que era una mesa pequeña - que por sí solo habría estado bien, pero estaba TAN cerca de otras mesas a cada lado que se sentía muy apretado y la gente tratando de entrar en las mesas vecinas, mientras que a pesar de hacer todo lo posible todavía estaban golpeando las cosas en nuestra mesa. Para mi horror escuché que la mesa de al lado (lugar para 4 personas) esperaba a 5 personas en total, así que se colocó otra silla justo al lado mío, por lo que mi espacio ya comprometido invadió aún más, lo que tampoco puede haber sido agradable para ellos. ¡Me sentí como si estuviera sentado en su regazo! Estábamos muy sedientos a la llegada, ya que la estación de metro estaba extraordinariamente ocupada, incluso un sábado, y tuvimos que esperar probablemente 10 minutos para que alguien tomara nuestro pedido de bebidas, así que pedimos comida y nuestras bebidas, ya que habíamos tenido edades para mirar el menú en este punto. Pasaron otros 15-20 minutos y llegaron nuestros entrantes y tuvimos que pedir nuestras bebidas que estábamos desesperados. Habíamos pedido mejillones y el bistec - bistec se pidió raro, pero estaba frío a la llegada a nuestra mesa, así que tenía que ser devuelto. Los mejillones estaban deliciosos pero con patatas fritas muy saladas y solo se servían con una cuchara pero para ser honesta no pensé que llegaría un tenedor antes de terminarlo si hubiera pedido uno así que me las arreglé. Muy lento para recibir la factura y aún más lento para venir a nuestra mesa para poder pagar, al final nos rendimos y fuimos al bar a pagar. El cargo por servicio también se agregó a la factura automáticamente, lo que creo que es descarado cuando el servicio no es excepcional y para solo 2 huéspedes. En general, la comida era bastante buena y disfrutamos, y nuestro servidor estaba encantado de resolver nuestros problemas, pero esos problemas podrían haberse evitado tan fácilmente y fue una experiencia muy lenta que lo empapó un poco. La atención a los detalles habría marcado una gran diferencia.

Almorcé aquí entre semana con mi esposa. El menú era muy atractivo y barato, pero fuimos a la carta. La sopa de cebolla francesa estaba deliciosa y mi tartar de boeuf era excelente - la carne era de alta calidad y perfectamente picada, los acompañamientos sabrosos y, después de confirmar cómo lo quería, especiado justo. El restaurante es una bonita habitación baja-clave sin música de tubo cuando estábamos allí, lo que significaba que podíamos charlar tranquilamente y escucharnos. El servicio fue eficiente y amable. Estoy dispuesto a volver, ya que el menú tenía una gama muy atractiva de comida francesa tipo bistró.

Hier était notre troisieme visite au restaurant la Gazette oú nous aimons diner apres notre seance de cinema.J usqu'ici nous y avons aprecié l'ambiance et la nourriture. Hier soir, nous avons été pris en charge et servis par une serveuse plutot reveche á qui il a fallu demander d'amener le vin, car les plats étaient déja arrivés. Sa reponse a été tres expeditive; on etait problament trop exigeants a son gout. Nous aurions en effet, aimer boire notre vin en apéritif. pour commencer. La suite, n'a été que brusquerie, et une facon de communiquer tres peu profesionnelle. La coupelle de beurre a fini accidentellement dans l'assiette de mon mari, provoquant le rire des collegues. La serveuse s'est excusée et nous a promis de retirer le prix de l'assiette de la note. Quand la facture est arrivée, cela n'avait evidement pas été fait. Nous avons demandé á faire retirer le prix l'assiette comme convenu mais également le service qui nous avait ete facturé. Une deuxieme addition arrive, ni l'assiette, ni le service avait été retiré, le serveur s'est excusé disant qu'il s'agissait de la facture d'une autre table. Non , c'etait bien le meme prix que la premiere addition. Sur une note positive, nos plats étaient tres bons, meme si un effort doit etre fait sur la qualité du pain (mauvaise baguette industrielle). Bref, un moment tres désagreable, peu commun á notre epoque, nous ne n'y reviendrons pas.

Fue un buen comienzo de mi viernes. Me gustaría mencionar especialmente a mi camarera Dana, ella era extremadamente atento, alegre e hizo que la experiencia en general fuera agradable. La comida estaba muy bien hecha y presentada. Tenía filete de falda medio raro y fritas con judías verdes. Tarta de manzana de postre. Recomendaré este lugar y espero visitar este restaurante de nuevo cuando vuelva a Londres

Se cayó aquí más 2 después de la película de cine adyacente - restaurante casi vacío a las 5. 30 pm pero nos dijeron que no podíamos entrar ya que estaban "esperando otros más tarde para las mesas reservadas". Personal despectivo descortés y me pregunto cómo sobrevivirán si la gente es expulsada así. Tuvimos un excelente aperitivo y té a la vuelta de la esquina en la crepería. Leí críticas similares sobre el servicio en Gazette, que es una pena.

Había sido anteriormente cuando Gazette acababa de estrenar en Cine Lumiere y me encantó y la gente que trabajaba allí también. Quiero volver recientemente a almorzar antes de una proyección de películas y un evento de preguntas y respuestas que iba a ser larga tarde. Mi plato estaba quemado y no era comestible, tuve que devolverlo. Lamentablemente no hubo tiempo para esperar un reemplazo porque la película comenzó. La comida de mis maridos también estaba demasiado cocida hervida a mucha alga marina y atún seco. Dijo que era la primera vez que tenía algas marinas hechas estilo cena escolar. El personal era indiferente, así que me pregunté si eran mal tratados o algo así.

Too bad to agree with the other terrible reviews on TripAdvisor but they were right should never have gone there. An unlisted service charge was added at the counter card machine for payment in advance for a glass of wine. Then rudely told not to sit at any table laid with a napkin although it was virtually empty. Then the glass of wine tasted off like from the bottom of an old bottle. On reflection it seemed watered down I wrote the whole thing off and escaped asap.

Very disappointing. Ridiculously slow service. 2 hours for lunch including one hour wait for just the starters. Were planning to get coffee and desert but ran out of time. We ordered some bread as we were so hungry, extra charge and very sorry looking few pieces of baguette arrived. Guy at the next table was so hungry waiting he started to eat some protein bars he’d brought with him. Waiter said this was normal speed for us to expect at the weekend. But admitted there was only one chef in the kitchen, clearly not enough. They shouldn’t be filling the restaurant if they can’t cope with the numbers. 3 waiting staff would probably have been ok for the size of dining room, but all stayed around the bar rather than serving, whole restaurant was desperately trying to get their attention. Often didn’t bring things that had been asked for. Said they’d come to check on the food but didn’t. Main course was incredibly poor and absolutely not as advertised. By then we were in a big hurry to pay and leave but no apology offered. Otherwise food no more than ok, rustic and small portions, so felt very overpriced especially considering the service. Very sub-standard compared to the numerous other decent and fairly priced restaurants nearby. A great pity! Had booked for a family celebration, hope they get the place sorted because I think they’ll have a lot of disappointed customers. Avoid.

great food but appalling service - despite the restaurant being almost empty I had to go to the bar to request a menu after sitting for 10 minutes without a waiter coming to the table. They were just sitting at the bar chatting to each other. I had to later again go to the bar to request water and cutlery to go with my pudding. great shame as the food is very good and the service used to be good but it's gone right down.

Totally indifferent staff ( just 2 "waiters"), one seated at the bar with his back to the room. No greeting on entering. My dining companion, used to a decent standard of food, was not at all pleased with her order of the dish of the month, supposedly a regional dish , from the Strasbourg area : a thrown together rubbery, tough,near inedible sausages in a pool of tasteless sauce with bits of sauerkraut floating in it. No bread on the side. A side dish of 4 limp, overcooked, unadorned, white asparagus added an extra £15 to the bill. Sad to see French cuisine descend to this level, especially in an Institute representing French culture. No professionalism or friendly politesse from the one or two staff , mainly engaged in a private conversation among themselves at the bar. When we politely mentioned our disappointment with the food, we were assured that they have never had a complaint. Maybe the other restaurants in this chain are better. But this branch is nothing but a sad parody, an imitation, of a French restaurant, when it comes to food. Not a place for the seasoned visitor to France, hoping to find the real thing in the Institute.

I was here in October and again in January 2024. In October the Maitre d' said the reason we were waiting 2 hours for a main course was because they were short of chefs in the kitchen. Same excuse again this time. Not good enough in a French cultural institute, even if the man on the desk said the restaurant had nothing to do with them. The restaurant should, like the Institute, be showcasing the best France has to offer. Anyone who's been to France knows this is not the best food or service France has to offer. The longer this goes on the more it reflects on the Institute that they are doing nothing to solve the problem. It's a pity as I think French food and service is the best, but not here.

Avoid. My husband had thought it would be good, being at the Institut Français. But the service was breath-takingly bad - a cheery young man who didn’t know what he was doing, so no water, no drinks, no bread for the first half hour. He was overseen by a woman who was rude and aggressive and should not be in a customer-facing role. She literally slammed my expensive glass of wine down on the table, having earlier appeared at our table to tell me that her colleague had made a mistake and I had no right to a glass of high value wine just because I didn’t want the free Bellini and the half bottle of wine that were included in the Christmas dinner offer. I had never suggested that I expected that trade-off - though you might imagine a decent restaurant would see the sense in it….. The amuse bouche that was included in the Christmas dinner never appeared; the starter arrived after my husband’s and only after chasing; the tuna was overcooked; they forgot my husband’s chips. To the chef’s credit, the duck and the ceviche were good. Throughout this, the TV was switched on, to a French news programme, projecting dire and tragic headlines. It was set on silent, but no such luck: they had music going throughout, from a separate source, and it was the worst type of cheap  « belt em out » American Christmas carols. So much for French culture. The woman turned up near the end and barked « How are we doing. » It would have taken too long to say. We just wanted out and were late for the cinema next door because of their incompetence.

Hidden Gem located in the beautiful French Institut, very friendly service received from Jeremie, busy atmosphere yet very relax, classic French food very well executed. My favourites are the onion soup and bavette steak, oh and the fresh warm baguette with butter! Highly recommended. You must try.

Reasonably priced. Friendly staff. Risotto okay in a sweet French pudding sort of way, frites crispy and fine, but mussels incredibly dried out, stringy and tasting of dishwater - unpleasant. Must have been cooked some time before and left sitting somewhere. Poor for something so easy to do well and in what purports to be a French restaurant.

Booked a table for four for an early dinner on 2nd August to invite friends before going on to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. Received a confirmation email and then, two days beforehand, a request that we reconfirm our reservation, which I duly did. We duly arrived at the restaurant a few minutes before the appointed time to discover that it was closed for the whole of August, leaving us desperately scrambling around the neighbourhood to find an alternative venue. If this bunch of idiots can’t even turn down reservation requests (indeed, actually confirm them) when they know the restaurant will be closed, how can they be trusted to organise cooking and serving a meal? Conclusion: don’t waste your time and effort. Reserve somewhere else. Connards!

We came here to have dinner after a concert at Cadogan since this was the only place opened to 10.30 pm. Arrived @10.15, stood for a few min - waiters were just passing , no one paying attention until I turned around and smiled at a waitress who was folding napkins. I asked if we could have a table for 2. We were sat. Another waitress, came to give us the menu but before that started joking around with the diners next to our table- considering it is now 10.20pm (last order is 10.30pm). She eventually handed us the menu and told us - just to let you know the kitchen is closing in 10 min. Food arrived, husband ordered the saucicon and lentils and I the duck. Both meals were extremely salty. Enough to trigger hypertension- not a joke!!! I tried to find a part of the meat that wasn’t salty but I gave up- the sauce was even worse. My husband finished his as he was hungry considering our last meal was lunch time. The waitress arrived to collect and saw I hardly touched my meal - so i complained about the saltiness. My husband didn’t complain- he is British. They were nice enough to take my order off the bill. Came the dessert- I ordered the citron crepes and my husband the chocolate crepes. Desserts arrived - except my husband got the chocolate mousse. My husband and I looked at each other- and said oh well maybe they misheard. As we started on the dessert- the head waiter came up to say I believe you ordered the chocolate crepes we apologise - it is coming, we won’t charge you for the chocolate mousse. I wouldn’t say we will not come back. We may try again on another time of a day. I think there is something going on with staff morale in the kitchen if the food is mediocre for the prices on the menu. Deal with that please.

Visited this place several times during our stay in London. Staff is very friendly, and tea is spot on. Enjoyed morning tea and scones, afternoon tea, and even after dinner tea here.
