Gaucho in Glasgow City

Gaucho was an excellent place for an intimate romantic dinner for a special occasion. The food was outstanding, and the service was impeccable! Sam D had such a great presence and provided such a good service! will definitely be back!

Very disappointing - the steak was ok, but the amount of salt on the food was excessive! The mash potato, bearnaise and sides were full of salt - I like things to be salty but this was way too much!

Had a late lunch/early dinner in Gaucho in West Nile Street on a Saturday afternoon. It was our first visit, prompted by getting a Voucher gifted to us for Xmas. We thoroughly enjoyed it. It was fairly busy, but had a laid-back vibe. We were particularly happy to hear a myriad of languages and accents around. The staff were very friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was of excellent standard. As I say, it was out first visit - I suspect not our last.

The best thing about our trip here was our waiter olivia, other than that the food we recived was less then average, i never leave reviews if i have nothing positive to say but i am utterly disapointed in our food our bill came to £185.00 (€227.00) , I had better Steak in well known cheaper restaurents, We are staek lovers, and do not mind paying for good food! but the price here was outragous for the average food we got, so disapointed, Olivia as i said made the experaince.

Our visit was nice - it was lovely for us to get out for lunch, but Gaucho didn’t really have the ‘wow’ factor, which was disappointing considering what we paid for lunch. We knew what we were picking, so knew the costs, but just felt a bit like ‘was that it?’. We had prawns and focaccia with chimichurri to start with - this was lovely. The bread rolls and focaccia were delicious. We opted for the chateaubriand to share, with chips, grilled lettuce and bernaise and peppercorn sauces - the steak was nice enough, decent sized portion, though was bleeding heavily. Chips are chips. The grilled lettuce with lardons was nice. I was very disappointed in the peppercorn sauce as it was very watery, and actually had little taste to it. I actually think this was bought in - if a chef made that then they shouldn’t be a chef!!! The wine was delicious - though at £15 for a glass of Côtes du Rhône it was pricey ( there are cheaper options available). So overall, we enjoyed being out, and the food was fine, but just felt that it was overpriced for what it actually was. I think we made a few mistakes - picking the Chateaubriand was a mistake, I should’ve opted for chimichurri sauce as opposed to the peppercorn, and I also think it’s best to avoid big chain restaurants - I didn’t realise how many Gauchos there are. Our service was good and I have no complaints about that. We were welcomed, jackets were taken and our server, Olivia, was excellent - she was chatty and friendly, but not too much. The level of interaction was perfect. Would I go back to Gaucho?- Absolutely not as there are other good steak restaurants in Glasgow.

Super grateful to have won this competition for at the weekend 🤩 We had a fabulous meal and everything was cooked to perfection. The steaks were absolutely delicious! One of the best I’ve ever had. This was the cocktails, steaks & mates menu which is worth £65 each per person, which I think is fab considering your getting a starter, 2 cocktails, steak & botomless fries as well as a dessert cocktail! 🍸 The fries were also so delicious dipped in the home made ketchup!!! 🥰🫶🏼 Definitely will be returning to gaucho, our meal was so delicious and the girl who served us( Antonia) couldn’t have been any more lovely . 🫶🏼

You go here for the steak and it’s definitely average, and that doesn’t sit well considering the cost. Had the 400g ancho rib eye and it was very dry and pale. The sauces were good, the mushroom side was good, the dauphinois pots were dry and average, the dessert of chocolate torte was like a Tesco tray bake, it definitely was not fresh, dry and tasteless. Wanted to like this place but there are far better steaks to be had in Glasgow.

The outside of the building isn’t particularly inspiring but the venue is very stylish inside. Food was excellent - bourbon salmon was very tasty and nicely presented. Chips were somewhat lukewarm though which seemed to be an issue with many of the sides. Service was good, no complaints.

A busy restaurant with great service. The food was amazingly good although expensive. We had a gift voucher and still had to pay more than double towards it. I had a starter (prawns) which were delicious and a fillet steak with peppercorn sauce and sides of mushrooms and broccoli. It came with chips so there was no need to order these. The steak was cooked to my liking and the smallest one on the menu was enough for me. I was full afterwards so didn’t order a desert although my husband ordered an Irish coffee and said it was very good. The restaurant has a good atmosphere although the background music is a bit loud and we had to ask the waitress to repeat what she had said. All in all, we will return but probably only for a special occasion.

Was so looking forward to meeting freinds here ,I had heard good things about it and don't mind spending a little more for quality and service but this has got to be worst meal and experience in all my time dining . Our freinds travelled a fair distance for the experience and the catch up but for us all together the price the portions and the overall nite was a disaster we got main courses only due to wanting to have main meals and more drink rather than less drink more food. Lol Main meals came out roughly at cost 25 to 30 each and when I say main meal it was all that was on the plate no garnish sauce veg anything just the bare non appetising looking bit of fish or meat . Anything extra at a cost I mean anything you could have asked for a Brussels sprout or spoonfuls of potato and you would have been any cost added . 44 pound for a bottle white wine also I know and understand prices but we were with company and everyone was enjoying themselves at the beginning of order so price and value for money wasn't a option but it was garbage both portions price and the whole experience I am so sorry to say that because I don't ever criticise but because of the occasion and reviews I had heard I was really let down my wife spoke to the front door receptionist on way out voicing her displeasure nothing was said..I would like to say I hope this review alerts both people to be wary and also management in there costs for adding onto your plate ....very dissapointed customer

Lovely restaurant this. Great ambience, great staff. Our waitress was Olivia who was very attentive. We went with the standard bread and olives for a starter, can’t go wrong with that. The bread was very nice, could of had more as my main really. We typically went with steaks as main, steak restaurant and all that. 225g medium and a 300g medium rare. It may have been that they got the wellness mixed up as the 225 was far pinker than the 300 but no complaints. Both steaks were melt in the mouth. The sides were also a hit. Our cocktails were made to order which is always helpful. I’m a stickler for what whisky is used in my drinks and they were able to accommodate. I’ve never been to a Gaucho before but will definitely go again with a bit more money in my pocket to sample the more expensive steaks. A free glass of bubbly was a nice touch due to it being my birthday. Thank you

Gran comida. Vine aquí como un gran grupo para un cumpleaños. La comida era genial. El servicio estaba ligeramente desorganizado y la gente terminó con los filetes equivocados, etc, pero no era un gran problema. El ambiente y la decoración es perfecto. Tuvimos un error en nuestra factura, pero después de un correo electrónico al restaurante al día siguiente nos respondieron rápidamente también y nuestro problema se resolvió. Lo recomendaría y volveré en el futuro.

Comida promedio y a un precio superior. Personal servicial y bienvenido. Añadir un 15% de cargo por servicio sin preguntar es molesto.

Me regalaron un vale para canjear contra una selección de restaurantes y decidí elegir Gaucho nunca antes haber estado, muy contento de que lo elegimos. La comida era increíble y el menú y los diferentes tipos de filete fueron explicados bien por Sam (creo que ese era su nombre con suerte, él era fabuloso) que informó nuestras elecciones. La mejor botella de vino tinto que hemos probado. Sí, es muy caro, pero la comida es de calidad real. Realmente encantadora sensación íntima al lugar, la decoración encantadora y el personal eran encantadores. Muy recomiendo este lugar especialmente para una ocasión especial. Tienen un menú de precio fijo también que se veía bien relación calidad-precio.

Came here straight from the airport to meet friends and the staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful from start to finish. From putting my luggage in the cloakroom, to explaining the history behind the restaurant, the levels of service was exceptional. There was a singer on too and I only wished he could have stayed longer!The Sunday Roast was perfect too. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Food fab, service great, no place for dogs Had a good start to the night before couple arrived with their dog, There is no pace for a dog in a restaurant. Jeez oh man even Wetherspoons don’t allow dugs

This place has it nailed down. Food was spot on and they pulled out the stops for my birthday. Was really all the nice touches, service, ambiance and of course the steak! Cooked to perfection. Our server ana was attentive and honestly just a hands down brilliant meal out. Highly recommend!

Stopped in for lunch with an Itison voucher. We were celebrating our anniversary and the staff kindly gave us each a glass of sparkly. We didn’t want the bottle of wine that came with the voucher so they were flexible and were happy to give us the mocktails we said we’d prefer. Starters, main steak and dessert were all lovely. Not big portions but plenty for us as we left the restaurant happy and not as if we over-indulged. Ambience lovely, and a particular shout-out to Sam D for looking after us and helping us choose what would be good on the menu. I’d definitely go again.

Came here for the first time for a mid-week anniversary meal with an itison voucher for a four course menu with a bottle of wine. Wow. The whole experience from start to finish was superb. Staff went out of their way to celebrate with us providing some bubbles before our meal! Shoutout to Ruth in particular! Food was delicious and atmosphere was chilled but cool vibes. Would 100% recommend and will be returning❤️

Excellent steakhouse. We did not have reservations but were seated immediately. Great wine list, perfectly cooked steak and tasty oysters. Everyone liked their meals very much. Not cheap, but not overpriced either. Would definitely return.

Lovely lay out with well spaced tables This is not a cheap restaurant Prices are on the high side We went for the 30th birthday lunch but it does not include any sides Bottle of Noam 34cl beer was expensive at £8.50 If however money not an issue or your looking for a special occasion then this is for you. Service from Sam was excellent, explaining the food with a very good knowledge We had the crab and the sausage as starters and both were very tasty Then onto the Churrasco Cuadril a rump steak cooked to perfection. I added the chips which were super crispy and delicious and for once a steak restaurant which had English mustard Desert we went for the Coconut Tres which was another pleasant surprise

First time here and was not disappointed the food was first class as was the service from the moment we arrived we were made welcome although we only had the limited 30 years celebration menu the food that was served to us both was excellent so next time when we visit it will be from the a la carte menu

Great food and choice on the menu, steaks cooked to perfection. One more star if they had more staff. Probably not expecting a busy Tuesday night where all tables were taken. Staff rushed to be as attentive as possible, good job team Gaucho.

My partner and I search high and low for places to eat with our dog. There are many cafes and pubs in Glasgow which are dog friendly, and that’s all very well, but sometimes you just want a better dining experience and Gaucho provides this in spades! We have been twice for lunch, and we’re lucky enough to be served by Sam both times. His recommendations in both food and especially wine are much appreciated; he’s not let us down yet. The surrounds are lovely, the food is delicious, the drinks are great - they’ve just reworked their cocktail menu and the flavour matrix is useful beyond measure. Sometimes you don’t know what drink you want but know what kind of drink you’re in the mood for, and this matrix helps with that. I would recommend restaurant to anyone who enjoys red wine. We’ll be back for sure.

Flatters to deceive. Initially incorrect meal brought for a child. In addition one main and five sides were brought to the table cold. This was corrected and the main meal not charged. This was a disappointing first visit for a family celebration.

Brilliant Steak and well looked after. Staff knowledgeable about what was on the menu. Nice relaxing atmosphere. Couldn't afford to eat here every week but worth it for a treat.

First time in this stunning restaurant We went on Friday 25th of March we were greeted by a lovey young man on arrival he was so pleasant and made us feel so welcome By far the best steaks we have ever had, cooked to perfection, the starters and desserts were gorgeous too all the staff were so friendly and so knowledgable on all wines and food which was very helpful We enjoyed it so much we returned on the Monday and had another great eating experience and really nice touch a complementary drink and dessert We will definitely be back soon Can’t thank you enough Everyone needs to try this place you won’t be disappointed Joanne

Every so often you have an experience that ticks all the boxes. Dinner last night in Gaucho was one. Firstly, the service. From the minute we were greeted to the moment we left, the staff couldn’t have done more for us. Our server, Anna, was both friendly and efficient, attentive but discreet. As first-time visitors, she took the time to explain the menu and the wine list, even bringing out the cuts of meat for us to see. The ambience in the restaurant was relaxed. The layout and decor was modern and clean, the lighting, warm and subdued. Now, the food. I expected the meat to be first-rate, and it was. I had the churrasco de lomo which was butter-soft and very more-ish. Superbly cooked and presented. What I didn’t expect was for the starters and sides to be up there too, but they were. The sea bass ceviche in particular was divine. As a high-end restaurant, don’t expect Gaucho to be cheap, but for a special treat I would say it’s worth every penny.

Very impressed with service received from Ryan, knowledge and attention to detail was well received . My colleagues and I had lovely evening , great wine recommendation which complemented each course . Will definitely be returning and recommendation for further events . Thank you Ryan 👍

Poor customer service, cold vegetables and few had to ask three times for Mustard for the steak, as well as asking for a portion of broccoli twice.

Another wonderful evening with the girls as always made extra special by personal touches from Ryan and the amazing staff. We all had steaks which everyone loved shared a few cheese cakes and had an amazing cheese board all paired with excellent wines that Ryan recommended. Very average. Visited Mothers Day. Was chaotic! When we arrived we were told table wasn’t ready and to have a drink at the bar. Not enough seats for us all which was annoying. Staff at the bar completely ignored us so never got a drink! Son and husband ordered Scallops which at £21 were disappointing. They were very small. We all had steaks which were fine. My fillet was more like medium rare than medium. Couldn’t be bothered saying to staff who were clearly stretched. Overall at £400 I’d say go to an independent. Has a lot lot better. Disappointing aa wanted to visit for a long time but wouldn’t return!

We had booked the Gaucho for our anniversary dinner. Service cannot be faulted, but still felt it was rather overpriced for food and particularly drinks. When you have paid £30 for a half litre of wine, £4.25 for a coffee is stretching the point.

First visit to this restaurant and we will definitely be back! Lovely lunch menu which we were expertly guided through by Sam D our server. Very chilled atmosphere efficient attentive service .

This was the 1st time eating here so I will start with the positives- this restaurant is lovely & there was a nice atmosphere, staff were also very attentive & helpful. Although the food was nice I felt it was a bit overpriced for what we had! I think having read some of the other reviews we had high expectations but we were a bit disappointed. We had an issue with the dessert we ordered but our server apologised & made sure it was deducted form the bill. Overall we did have a nice time but I don't think we will return.

We were out celebrating a family get together and had the most wonderful time. I had heard a lot of positive things from friends so decided to give it a go. From the minute we stepped in we were made to feel welcome. The restaurant is stunning, and it was lovely and cosy which was needed on such a cold day. Service was excellent. Very knowledgeable staff that gave plenty of recommendations on food and wine. Starters were delicious and our steaks were cooked to perfection. Some of our party even managed dessert. They couldn’t get enough of the cookie dough. They made the occasion even more special and we will definitely be back.

AMAZING service, delicious food and cocktails were to die for. Can’t wait to come back! P.s the scallops are the best I have ever had!!

This was our second visit in the same week. Ali (Alison) looked after us on both occasions and we had a wonderful meal. Great food - we had the Prawns and the Scallops for starters and the Chateau Briand for main course and the Cheesecake for dessert. The Don David wine was superb. Thanks Ali for a wonderful evening.

A very disappointing meal. Our first drinks and starter were fine, however ordered a second drink which sat on the bar for 15+ minutes until we had to ask them to bring it over. We ordered the sirloin steak, I had asked for medium rare but came rare in a pool of water/juices. The steak was about 1/3 inedible fat, and had little to no flavour. The mac and cheese also had no flavour whatsoever. We would have told the waiter however he didn’t even ask how our meal was when collecting the plates nor when he brought the bill! Definitely wouldn’t be back.
