Garvock House Hotel Dining in Fife

We had my mother in law’s 80th birthday celebration for 13 people at the Garvock, and it was perfect. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, the staff were attentive and very helpful, everyone enjoyed themselves. Thank you for everything, it was a great night.

Unbelievable food, amazing service and great value. Would highly recommend here for coffee, lunch or dinner. They do a fantastic set menu for lunch. They also do delicious coffee and freshly baked scones.

Fabulous. Cannot fault this lovely hotel. We dined mid September 24 and had the best meal ever. The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. I would say fine dining for sure but not posh Edinburgh prices. Just good value for money which you don’t often see nowadays. A special place indeed and great for a romantic meal for 2. Very classy restaurant, excellent service and amazing food. I had the Haggis Bon Bons for Starter, since I was in Scotland - really nice. Mushroom and Spinach Risotto for Main, which was amazing. So tasty…will definitely return!

My wife and I stayed overnight as we were attending a funeral early the following morning. Our room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable. We had dinner there as it seemed convenient and we were glad we did. The menu is not large but it seemed to have something for everybody, the food was excellent and the cleared plates was proof of that. Breakfast next morning again did not disappoint with a large buffet of fresh fruits yogurts, cereals and freshly squeezed juices. We opted for the cooked breakfast which again was delicious this came with copious amounts of toast and hot coffee. The staff are friendly and very helpful. We look forward to going back in less somber circumstances.

arrived for a overnight stay Dinner B& B to discover there was a wedding and other parties that night we should not have worried as there was no disturbance at all . Our room was spotless and very comfortable our meals were very good and the service perfect , if up this way again we would not hesitate to stay again > One warning the sat nav doe's not like it

Just back from a one night 'Sunday Treat Special' stay and just had to write a review. Excellent 3 course meal which was very well presented and delicious and for such an incredibly good price (as part of the deal). We have stayed there before and the standard has always been exceptional. Mrs J (Formerly a lecturer in a catering college) remarked that it was the best meal that she had had for a long time, such was the standard. Great staff, great ambience, great decor and great food at a good price..Simply superb. Already booked for an important date for us in July and highly likely to be back before then.

Everything was fabulous, food was amazing. The only thing I can fault them on is the drinks. The drinks were meant to be bottled but were dishes up in the glass. By the time we got them the juice was flat. Might have been poured from a large bottle for all the customer knows. Don’t like that. I like to put my own juice from the bottle into the glass and keep optimum fizz in it. I appreciate this is a nice restaurant so trying to keep bottles off the table but the juice was terrible.

Just back from a wonderful overnight stay here. From check in to check out it was perfect and we came away feeling so relaxed. Every member of staff was very warm, friendly and professional. The food was outstanding and the hotel was spotlessly clean. This hotel should be a 5 star!!

Comfortable and relaxing surroundings in this country house hotel located near the centre of Dunfermline. The service was efficient and friendly and the menu focuses on fresh quality food. We enjoyed the hake main course followed by delicious deserts crème brûlée and the chocolate cheesecake served with cherry ice cream. First time diners in this establishment and happy to say we look forward to returning sometime soon.

We had a delicious lunch, great menu with lots of options to choose from. Plenty gf options and df as well. The roast beef was sensational. Such a warm, relaxing and delightful place to have lunch. The staff are super friendly, helpful and really deliver wonderful service, can’t speak highly enough of the staff. Thank you.

Lovely traditional hotel with friendly staff. Enjoyable dinner and breakfast Only issue was the bath tap and plug in our ensuite - could not be reached to run the bath as the shower screen was in the way and wouldn’t move! Not the big issue just a but of an inconvenience!

We dined here for my mums 80th birthday. It was a wonderful to have a private dining room for our meal. Everything was fantastic (service, food, environment).

My brother and I booked this lovely hotel for my Mother's 90th birthday lunch with family. We were in a private room which was beautifully arranged with table flowers, white knapkins and a lovely cake stand. We chose this hotel as we have dined there several times previously and think their food and service is outstanding. We had organised drinks in the bar pre lunch which was all organised before going through for lunch. The staff had Mum's speciality cake all set up in the room. The meal was superb as before and everyone was very impressed with the menu available and the presentation of the dishes. We all had a fabulous day,especially Mum and are very thankful to all the staff at the Garvock House for helping us arrange Mum's special lunch with all her family. We look forward to returning very soon.

Went here for special birthday.Had some fizz in lounge and order was taken The main menu was exceptional and the cafe menu wasn’t required.Service was excellent as was the delicious meal the six of us had.Unknown to us a birthday treat arrived….a real surprise. A lovely hotel with really friendly and helpful staff. The level of service is excellent. The food options are extensive and cater well for vegans and vegetarians. If you need a hotel in the Dunfermline area this is the one to choose.

We visit the Garvock House on a regular basis for a lovely meal and know the quality of the food and tonight (9/4/23) was no different. A visit on Easter Sunday for some French trimmed spring lamb was absolutely beautiful! Highly recommended

We booked the Garvock for my late husband's funeral buffet. The staff could not have been more helpful. Truly glad we chose the Garvock; an idyllic setting, a comfortable room, a good buffet. All this contributed to giving my late husband a really good send off in comfortable surroundings amongst friends and family. Thank you Garvock.

I am normally quite fussy when visiting hotels. This is well run hotel with good well manicured gardens. The staff were great, almost overly enthusiastic. The hotel had a low turnover of staff which is a good sign. I had my Hotel Inspector/Ratatouille moment as I stuck my teeth in to a wonderful bowl of mushroom soup with added truffle oil as I listened to Edith Piaf background music. I had a full 3 course meal and breakfast. The room was good with fairly new decor and the bed was very comfy. Great hotel.

Great friendly service at Garvock House for a Christmas lunch today. The food was delicious, and the restaurant felt safe and well spaced for social distancing with all guidelines being adhered to. The staff were very attentive and helpful. There was a good choice of food for all ages and preferences (our party covered three generations from 2 households). The duck main course and plum and ginger pudding are worth a special mention for deliciousness! We will be back again soon, in fact this was our second visit this week!

Its been a while since i have written a review for Garvock House Hotel. Over the years i have visited here a lot. A friend and i went today for their Christmas lunch and it was absolutely beautiful. The food the staff everything was of such high quality. During these horrible times things can slip but not here. We were greeted when we went in and thanked for visiting when we left. If you have never visited treat yourself it wont break the bank and you will really enjoy the food. Nothings too much trouble. It was nice to see it busy today. Cant wait to go back again.

We are coming to the end of an extended stay at Garvock House hotel and have been blown away with the warmth and personal service provided by the entire team, top to bottom. The food in the restaurant has been consistently wonderful, flavoursome and well presented. Our room was extremely comfortable, spacious and spotlessly cleaned and serviced everyday. We sensed the pride in the hotel every member of the team has and it was great to be looked after by a staff who clearly enjoy their job and work so well together. For dinner or Sunday lunch, don’t go anywhere else and if staying over in Dunfermline, choose the Garvock with absolute confidence

Amazing food, friendly staff and lovely surroundings. Lucky enough to have this beautiful hotel on my doorstep and it’s always been a family favourite. Great options to meet our dietary requirements (I’m a long term veggie and have always been delighted!). If you are after delicious fresh food and a warm welcoming environment then this is the place! The sticky toffee pudding is 10/10!

My husband and I had dinner last night at this beautiful venue. The experience truly surpassed our expectations. The food was superb from the delicious bread through to the perfect creme brulee. The service was excellent - attentive with appropriately pitched banter.We are fortunate to live relatively close to the hotel and from the high standard and enjoyment of our evening, we shall certainly be visiting again very soon.Thank you so much.

To celebrate the end of our daughters holiday with us we booked a table. The menu had a great choice as we needed a vegetarian option. The staff we as attentive as usual after a short wait the food arrived well presented and the taste was excellent. We have been dining at Garvock House since it opened so we will definitely be back.

Lunching on the first day back after lockdown did not disappoint. Excellent 3 course lunch with a wide selection of options. Also noted that there were lighter bites available for the less hungry. The Arbroath smokie pate was light and tasty and the mixed berry pavlova was divine. Our lunch was unencumbered by the covid restrictions and the staff were their usual warm and friendly selves. The Garvock house hotel isn’t at the outskirts of Dunfermline offering excellent facilities for any venue hold at the premises restaurant. Been there as guests for a birthday party,we did enjoy the food so we decided to book a table for a special dinner. We received a great welcome from the manager, Scott, and as we were a bit early, we were shown to the bar area for a drink. The bar is fully stocked and the prices for the drinks are very reasonable for the standard of the restaurant. What a good idea to have the menu and choose our food having our drinks to save time. Great traditional Scottish dishes on a set menu of 1, 2 or 3 course meals, as well as the ala carte ones. Food was cooked to perfection and presented in a gourmet way...the Huggins crispy balls with mustard potato purée and Whiskey cream sauce, from the starters,the Chicken supreme and the Venison steak from the mains, are highly recommended. The service was excellent to a very high standard by all the waiters. We finished our night with coffees and tea at the bar area. Very satisfied we had a great night and we’ll definitely return.

Booked a festive lunch with family .As usual warm friendly welcome and excellent service . The meal was delicious between us we had the parsnip soup,Turkey and the braised beef /christmas pudding/ cheese board and cheesecake what can I say it was simply devine .Staff and management are on the ball at this hotel and it all adds to the enjoyment . Lovely old mansion. Great ambience and food. Haggis bon bons were excellent. Sausages were good as were the fish and chips. Sticky toffee pudding tasty.

Visited here for sunday lunch. Plenty of choices on the menu to pick from and food was excellent with great service. If you are thinking of going for sunday lunch I would recommend that you book in advance as it was very busy which speaks for itself that people enjoy the food, service and location.

We were here for lunch recently to celebrate a friend's 70th birthday! The choice of dishes was very good and though not a large menu there was food to cater for everyone's taste! The food was served to us all at the same time; it was well presented and the staff were very good and extremely attentive! This is the second time we've been here in the past few months for a celebration and both times have exceeded expectation!

Visited with my wife last night and as usual we enjoyed an exceptional meal. The service was excellent and friendly. The high standards never drop and we love the ambience of Garvock House. We met a lovely chap who was from Morayshire and a regular visitor who was enjoying banter with the staff, obviously enjoying his stay. All in all an enjoyable evening.Gordon and a Carol.

We arrived a little early and as it was a nice evening we had drinks in the well maintained garden before going to our table. The decor of the room we were in was in keeping with the period of the old house. The six of us ordered various starters, mains and desserts. All meals were cooked well to our individual liking. A good selection of wines. We opted for a rather tasty 2015 Valpolicella. Staff polite and courteous at all times.

Spent two nights at this wonderful hotel, made even more special by two weddings occurring over the weekend, so was able to hear and see Scottish pipers and traditional men in kilts. Although there was a wedding each day of our stay, these did not impact on our stay as the layout of the hotel and thick walls meant we did not hear the wedding celebrations at all. Staff were very helpful and friendly and very attentive. Food and service were of an exceptional standard. Buffet breakfast of cereals, juices, fruit and pastries plus amazing cooked to order breakfast ranging from eggs Benedict with salmon to full English all cooked to perfection. Evening meal was just as impressive with a brilliant choice. Even the plate of shortbread that came out with our coffee served in the bar was amazing! We will definitely be going back. Thank you Garvock House Hotel for a thoroughly delightful super weekend.

If you're looking for a decent meal in a nice semi-formal restaurant room, this is your place. The service is great, and the food is high quality and good value. The kitchen deffinately know what they're doing.

Good choice, local produce, freshly cooked.I particular, breakfast was frechly cooked and piping hot. There was a good choice of fresh fruit on offer.

We had a superb lunch today ,as usual the staff are very friendly and attentive with attention to detail . The lunch was in the smaller dining room as a wedding party was gathering .We could not fault the excellent food with the char grilled pichana steak the highlight of my partners meal .The staff coped remarkably well especially with a wedding at the Hotel and are to be commended

Garvock House certainly pulled out the stops for a 90th birthday lunch for 14.

Visited the Garvock on many occasions & as always never fails to deliver . 3 out of 4 of us had the assiete of fish to start , clean plates followed . Odd one out had tempura prawns & she loved this also . Same again for main - 3/4 had duck & was exquisite , just cooked perfect . Lady had a steak this time as always at Garvock & it didn’t disappoint . Finally AGAIN , 3/4 had same pud , it being a choc orange brownie with baileys ice cream - WOW . Lady had trio of raspberry desserts & was a sight & taste to behold . Sign of a good place that standard never falls .

My lovely bride and I were lucky to get married at the Garvock on 15th June. Can’t thank the hotel enough fantastic day from start to finish highly recommend the staff were brilliant food was fantastic. Absolutely perfect venue we’re so grateful you guys made our wedding magical x

Brilliant service, we were well looked after from the time we went in till we left,the food was amazing and the place was very clean and a good ambience.

Dined here midweek for wife’s birthday. Warm greeting and the restaurant offers a comfortable place to dine with nice views out to the garden. When taking our order I tried to get the duck ordered pink but the waiters iPad couldn’t recognise that so he proposed medium. Shame! There was an olive oil and balsamic dip on the table but never given any bread. Waiter poured water and took away jug and it was never seen or offered again. The salmon and crab starter was possibly the smallest I’ve ever had but did taste nice. Mains were ok but sadly my pink duck wasn’t I did scoff it all. Overall it was ok but expected better. We had a bottle of house champagne which brought a bill of Over £100....

Have eaten here a few times over the years and recently returned for another visit. Could not fault anything in terms of food, drink or service which was all first class and represented very good value for money. If I was to be picky a couple of points should be mentioned. Firstly there was no nibbles on the table with your pre-meal drink which I fondly remember from our last visit!! Also must mention that the choice of music for dinner was pretty awful and needs improvement. Why not some nice Scottish tunes rather than 1970’s piano elevator music?!?

I have been lucky to have been invited to two Christmas meals at the Garvock Hotel over the past two years. I am coeliac and the kitchen have provided me with excellent gluten free meals.

We never tire of visiting Garvock House as a family. Consistently excellent service and food and the menu regularly changes but firm favourites always available e.g steak, fish etc

Hadn't been to garvock house hotel for a while and omg my husband and I went on saturday night and the meal was amazing. From start to finish they didnt put a foot wrong. The attention to detail was perfect. The food was the best. We both had filet steak which was cooked to perfection. It really was. The dinning room the cleanliness of everything makes it so special you just cant wait to go back. The staff are so nice and friendly and are very attentive. They want you to enjoy yourself. I hope its not too long before we go back. Keep up the great work Garvock. Your the best.

We have been here twice, 2 Christmases, 2018 and 2016, both times my wife who is coeliac was catered for without any problem. Food was great, choice was good. Great service also.

Went for Christmas eve dinner with my wife and father in law. Garvock House is always consistent in its food quality and service and offers good value. It is probably the best restaurant in Dunfermline. It is not a culinary boundary pusher though but food is tasty and plentiful. Two of the party chose from the fixed price menu and I went a la carte. My filet steak was very good. My wife’s and my tempura prawns were not in a light batter and were a bit heavy. I do try to rate on the total overall experience and my rating would have been closer to 4 had it not been for the music. I am certainly amenable to listening to churchy choral Christmas tunes but not on repeat - we were on third loop when we left!!

From the moment we arrived, we were so well taken care of, the Hotel is more than beautiful. We as a family went there fir an early Christmas dinner, we were not disappointed , but delighted at the service, the mushroom and Tarragon soup so smooth and tasty, followed by roast turkey and all the trimmings, beautifully cooked, and presented, by waiters who so obviously enjoy their work in this truely superb hotel. A very fine cheesecake , then coffee and tablet completed the lunch. I have travelled the world but this gem of a hotel rates at the top of my list for service,and superb food

I have always been full of praise for this hotel whether it be a function or restaurant . We booked for Christmas lunch with family and were disappointed with the quality of the meal . We found he lunch menu to be quite small for choices. The Terrine of salmon was ok but not oustanding . The Turkey main course was very disappointing lacking in flavour or succulence ,the Venison was chewy in bits while other pieces were perfect . The Christmas pudding was ok but the cheese board was a disappointment with a poor selection and very small . We have come for years and enjoyed the lunches and dinners but found this poor fare for the festive season. It will be a while before we try the Garvock again and it will be someplace else next Christmas . Come on Garvock you can do a lot better than this

It was a pleasant experiance for a party of 9.Food was good but for some of the males, not enough, inspite of extra vegetables.Service was spasmodic especially for the serving of drink.This was not an affordable price for a 2 or 3 course meal .

Regularly, our 'gang of four' former work colleagues meet for lunch. The Garvock House Hotel is our home in Dunfermline. Today's return visit was, as expected, superb. Recognised and being warmly welcomed set the scene for the rest of the visit. The meal was excellent, freshly cooked and chosen from a menu that should suit everyone. The staff were so attentive without being intrusive. I liked that.

Great choice on the menu, which changes on a weekly basis (soup changes daily), whether you are vegetarian or prefer fish and meat. And simply scrumptious desserts! I can recommend both the fish and the vegetarian, and my husband loved the boeuf bourguignon.

Our family enjoyed a last minute lunch today for a hastily organised get together. The staff were as usual very efficient and the food was delicious. The hotel is always spotless and service faultless. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

Intimate dining in a gorgeous setting. Service was excellent and the food was delicious. Three clean plates and the end of our meal. I couldn’t manage a dessert as the servings are plentiful without being wasteful. We had a lovely evening and will return soon. Not hesitation in recommending here if you enjoy good food.

People talk about things back “when they were done properly” as if good service, good manners, good food and hospitality are somehow a thing of the past and, there’s no doubt that in some areas of modern life that’s certainly true.

I have been visiting Garvock for dinner for many years but this is my first return visit in a long time. I have a great fondness for Garvock. The food was excellent. Well cooked and good sized portions. Efficient and friendly service. Very reasonably priced. My reason for giving a four is that while the dining room has a wonderfully formal yet relaxed atmosphere I felt the bar area and presentation of my drink (a very ordinary gin and tonic which contrasts with the experience in many other hotels now) and some of the choices of the menu do feel a little dated and could do with being refreshed. That said - I had a lovely meal and I can’t fault it overall.

We have just spent a wonderful weekend at this delightful hotel. We used the hotel as a base as we were visiting Knockhill Racetrack for motorbike racing. Despite the hotel being very busy with 2 weddings and other private functions, the service by the staff was not compromised in any way. All staff were outstanding from Reception to the bar staff and waiting staff, they were so friendly and efficient in every way. We enjoyed cocktails in the bar and taking our coffee in the gardens. Breakfast and dinner was excellent aswell. We hope to return next year. Thank you to all the staff at Garvock Hotel.

I attended my Niece's wedding at Garvock House last Saturday, the. Venue was perfect for a small family wedding and we were treated very well from beginning to end. The weather prior to the wedding was horrendous but the rain went off and the sun came out allowing us to take photos in the beautiful gardens. The meal could not be falted and the staff went out of their way to accommodate a guest with food not on the menu. Some family members were staying in the hotel and rooms were enormous. The hotel was very busy over and above the wedding but nothing was a problem to the lovely staff. I would definetly recommend this Hotel for any kind of function.
