Garstang deli-cafe in Wyre

It's changed hands. Disappointed to be honest. Food OK but very pricey for OK food. Thought it was odd it wasn't busy but found out it's changed hands. I've given 3 stars which I think is fair.

This is a lovely cafe with great staff and really tasty food! Enjoyed my time here with my friends, would 100% recommend to anyone in the area 🫶🏻

This cafe is under new ownership (second week under the new regime) and it didn't disappoint. I visited with a friend at around 11.30am and it was quite busy both with customers eating in and those buying takeaway food too. My friend ordered the butter pie which was served with beetroot and grated cheese. It smelled delicious and was declared to be excellent by my companion. I opted for a blueberry scone and it was light and fluffy and "loaded" with blueberries. It was absolutely scrummy. A pot of tea and a huge cup of coffee completed our order and both were perfect. The takeaway counter was doing a roaring trade with salad boxes and other takeaway food. The menus for both eat in and takeaway were extensive and a wide range of goodies also listed on the specials board. In addition to all of this we received a friendly greeting and smile from the staff. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

New management working hard to maintain the excellent standards of the wonderful past. The place is an institution for discerning locals.

Last visit wasn’t so good, pleased to say this visit was back to a good standard.. Takeaway quiche & salad, spot on quiche & a good healthy portion of salad. Atmosphere in cafe much more relaxed than last time, I’m pleased to say.

A friend and I stopped for breakfast whilst we were taking part in a charity walk. We both had a full English breakfast and a pot of tea. The tea arrived within seconds in a proper pot, not a stainless steel tea pot! The food arrived pretty quickly. The breakfast was cooked properly, the portion size was good and they obviously buy local from suppliers who care about their product as much as the cafe staff do! As you can see from the attached photo, there was nothing left! We couldn't fault the food, or the service. I don't get into Garstang too often but I will make sure I visit the Deli Cafe when I do!

Very busy (frenetic) cafe on market day. The cafe is small & was full plus 4/5 people queuing for takeaways. It’s good it so busy but sure it could be less stressful as a customer. Food good, but small portion (quiche & salad), I used to struggle to eat this, not now. What was there was tasty & excellent quiche. The issue was the service, owner & daughter (?) bickering at each other isn’t nice to see or hear. I’m sure it’s meant in good humour but personally I find it uncomfortable. The way the daughter spoke to a customer over the price wasn’t great & then proceeded to have a rant about him to other customers when he’d left, again this was unacceptable. I’d hate to hear what she had to say about me after I’d left! Probably go again as nice food, but not looking forward to the Basil Fawlty approach to customer service.

Quick and efficient service in this friendly cafe. High quality produce and reasonable prices. The Quiche is fantastic with mixed salads. My wife had a superb roast beef sandwich as well. Very good coffee and tea. Great staff as well....One NOT to miss when in Garstang!

My lady had been here twice before so suggested give a visit as she had not been well and not eaten anything of note this week. Gosh is this a busy spot and deservedly so. E had fantastic quiche and I had a superb ham salad,unbelievable the sheer no of different salad elements provided and all assembled from the salad bar near to where you sit. None of this putting together in a non visible kitchen(this is a real + point).The service is exemplary, staff really pleasant and helpful. Gwen you really deserve nothing but praise and success for your lovely establishment. Also clear how you are an element of the local community almost knowing all your customers by their names. Well done,most certainly will be back

Always have lovely food here, the soups are home made, the quiche are fantastic, and the chocolate brownie are really really good

Lovely take away quiche & salad. Good sized portion for £8.50 & all really good. The range of salad is really good & varied. Cafe itself is small, but we’ll done.

A small family-run deli-cafe offering quality food in a cosy friendly environment. We are regulars here and enjoy the soups, the roast beef and onion sandwiches and quiche salads especially. For desserts there are normally a range of cakes & tarts, and of course Gwen's famous blueberry scones. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too. Downsides - opening hours are short, and payment by cash only.

Visited this small, but very friendly cafe, whilst on a visit to Garstang with my son. It was a terrible wet day and we wanted something to warm us up. It was busy as lunchtime but the ladies quickly found us a table at the back. We were shown the menu on the blackboard on the wall. My son had a sausage sandwich on a white bun - the quality of the ingredients was very good. I chose the hot beef and onion sandwich, which contained plenty of meat and onions. We were both offered condiments, but declined. I did think the food was overpriced as literally a sandwich on a plate with very little presentation - maybe a few crisps or garnish could be added. However, overall good service but if in Garstang again I think would try other cafes after reading reviews on here of other places.

Another lunch time visit (takeaway). The cafe has had a bit of a decorate / rework & looks much better. I think there is now a little more seating inside, which is a good move. Homemade quiche & salad, excellent. My only observation is that the salad portion size was definitely smaller this time than any other visit. Staff very friendly.

Visited Garstang for the first time today and came across the cafe. What an absalute find. The food was Absalutely outstanding and the portions were huge. As for the staff well they were just fabulous. Great customer service from start to finish. You must be very proud of an absalute fantastic cafe. We will definitely be returning 😊 Thanku again

This was our first visit for a light lunch. The roasted cauliflower and Stilton soup was delicious! The hot roast beef and onion sandwiches so tasty! The lemon meringue finished off a wonderful mouth explosion of flavours. Our tea was served in a china teapot with china cups and refills. This is a little gem, always busy. We had takeaway homemade quiche with salad £8. Top notch & good portion, salad good & tasty. Staff are friendly & work hard. Worth seeking out, get there early if you want a table as it’s pretty small & as I said always busy, & the reason for that is that it’s an excellent independent cafe.

The quiche salads are amazing from the Deli, the salad always fresh and a great variety including a delicious pasta salad, Cous cous and a chickpea salad all to die for! There is a lovely selection of quiches all lovely and they’re available to eat in or take away! Plus for the price they are huge.

A very good service and the food was delicious and very friendly staff and the staff are lovely and the sandwiches and the soup was delicious and the cake was delicious and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to visit Garstang I would recommend to anyone of my family and friends

I love the homemade pate from here, Saturday 26.9.20 I purchased a take home portion for £3 it didn't even cover 2 slices of toast! Really disappointed. I reluctantly called the deli this morning and spoke to someone as I felt the need to let them know, I was responded to by a lady who said 'come in and I will give you your money back' , no apology, explanation just sharp and blunt (not customer focussed at all) I was shocked at the response to be honest. I felt awful enough calling them in the first instance. I certainly won't embarrass myself by collecting £3. All I was wanting, was value for money, a reasonable product for a reasonable cost. Had I have seen the portion before getting home, I would have said something there and then!

i think you would class this cafe as shabby chic , with an eclectic array of plates and jugs etc . a small establishment run by a lovely bunch of ladies , on our visit we tried the homemade quiche with a colourful fresh salad , nicest quiche ive ever had , then to finish , a generous slice of homemade cream cake , light and fluffy and obviously made with love .oh and the pot of tea was spot on too . overall a lovely experience thank you

Excellent service and it will be fantastic if you open on a Tuesday and it will bring new customers and regular customers in aswell and I wish you could open on a Monday aswell definitely coming back again

Lovely little cafe in the beautiful village of Garstang. Staff are very welcoming and the food is excellent. Dogs are also made very welcome and loved their extra special treat. Highly recommend a visit if your in this area.

On our weekly visit we receive a friendly greeting as we enter The choice of food is very good , well presented and full of flavour All foods are homemade and fresh , the soups are delicious . and the fruit pie something to be desired The staff are friendly and always make you feel welcome Prices are good for all products

This is the second time we have visited this place. Would have been more but we haven't been able to get it it's so busy.Where do i start. Friendly, warm welcoming staff and a choice of delicious cafe food. Generous portions and a very warm atmosphere. Just lovely. We will return and hope to get a seat.

I have visited the Deli many times over the years and the quality and quantity of a portion is still the same, outstanding! All produce looks and tastes so fresh!!!

4 varieties of quiche, I chose feta and cranberry, it was divine. Everything is home made. Highly recommended

Cute little cafe, which of course makes it short of space. Gorgeous smelling food on entry. Both our lunches were very tasty. Only given 4 stars due to poor hand hygiene. Please invest in a foot peddle bin, so that you are not opening it with your hands! Wiping your hands on your clothes is not the same as washing them. Please also use utensils, this is just basic hygiene.

Warm welcome on a cold January day. The food is excellent, vast choice and sensibly priced and staff very friendly and accommodating and love dogs. Lots of vegi choices. Eat in looked good, we had take away and was very impressed. Would stop again. Recommended.

Visited today for the first time - the food was excellent - the staff are super nice - everything about it was just lovely and I will be back.My clothes smelled of food when I came out - so I washed them - small price to pay

Scorching hot day. 3 adults and 1 dog. The only place to rest us all was the deli. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left I have never felt so welcome. The staff were so friendly and even our shitz sou was treeted to free titbits of beef. I know the next time I visit garstang exactly where to go. Thanks all.

Great ingredients and excellent baking make the Deli a place we frequently go for lunch.Very popular for with locals for eat in or take-away. If you plan a late lunch you may find some of the specials have gone. My wife just got the last quiche!You can take your own alcohol.

The cafe is small and friendly with a nice family-owned atmosphere, we visited as it is dog friendly and he received lots of attention and treats! The food is delicious and we would highly recommend this to friends and family.

we were in Garstang working wandered around at lunch time found the Deli-Café looked in the window saw spare table went in picked what we wanted service was special .Ryan checked a few times were we happy what we ordered and when it came amazing not what you would expect I ordered just small soup and cheese sandwich and I got a lovely bowl of soup a lovely bun with cheese and an amazing salad of lots my wife had a potato which came with loads of tuna and also an amazing salad .and tea and coffee will have to go again even if it just to go back to deli café every one very nice

My partner and I visited the Deli Cafe yesterday and what a lovely little place. The people were friendly and welcoming. We both chose the soup which was pea and ham, it comes with a choice of bread, we chose brown which was so good with butter. We had a cup of tea to drink and that is in little china cups. I would eat here again.

Called during the torrential rain last weekend. The resturant felt very cramped but heard the staff saying how quiet it was due to weather. Food was extremely good and plenty of it. Wife and daughter had chicken wraps and I had soup and rare beef sandwich all excellent. My advice is to go on a quiet day, which is reflected by some of the previous reviews.

If your in Garstang then no visit is complete without a trip to the Deli Cafe. Every time I have been in to the Deli Cafe I am always received with a warm and friendly welcome. The food is an absolute delight and everything is cooked fresh, and its quality is without compare. Being health conscious I am glad to report that there are a wealth of healthy options that not only taste amazing are also incredibly nutritious too. In this day and age of processed crap you normally get served at Costa and Starbucks type establishments, it's nice to see a place like the Deli Cafe championing the cause of eating fresh and wholesome food. I am a regular at the Deli Cafe and have introduced lots of friends and family to this Bijou Cafe. Non have been dissapointed. I would encourage you to make your own informed decisions and let the Deli Cafe speak for itself, you won't be disappointed :)

Found the deli-cafe via trip-advisor, so was looking forward for a new venue to have my usual morning coffee, pastry and paper read! Instead I got a very irritated visit, with staff discussing what they did in the weekend and also because the place is so small I was getting knocked by customers! And if I am being brutally honest I've had a better coffee at a road side cafe! Sorry I will not be returning!

Marvellous food - excellent quiches, salads and cakes. Totally reliable with daily specials. Staff are aimiable and efficient.

We visited here for the first time today.Its a small but very cosy cafe and we felt very welcome with extremely friendly staff.The food was very good/tasty and the price was spot on. It was delivered in a timely fashion and well presented.The only reason I am not rating it a 5 for excellent is because my girlfriend pointed out they were picking up food with their hands without any utensils. When handling money this makes it worse.We would definitely visit again but wanted to give some constructive criticism.

Would re-iterate most of the other review comments already made. Excellent lunch time meal in a small cafe with friendly service. Garstang is a nice place to visit and when we return we will certainly visit the Garstang deli-cafe again.

When I started to visit Garstang some years ago I always thought that this is a pretty village with decent shops but sadly lacking in somewhere good to eat at lunch time....then I discovered the Deli Café! It's an unpretentious but well done business with delicious fresh home made cakes, quiches, salads etc. and charming staff. Places like this are a huge plus for a small village like Garstang...I look forward to my Deli treat every time!

This is a super deli cafe where you can get a fantastic breakfast,a sandwich ,cake or just a lovely coffee.It's quirky, welcoming and friendly.Worth a visit and one where we just keep going back to!!!

I don't know why I have not reviewed this cafe before. I seem to have been going there for years on a regular basis and feel like one of the family who own and run it. I have yet to find fault with anything there - the food, the atmosphere, the service - and most of all in my case, their kindness when going through difficult times - including provision for my wife's wheelchair and their careful attention to her needs, leaves me full of gratitude.The attention to detail and the variety of delicious offerings is remarkable for such a compact facility - recently altered to rationalize seating. Lunchtime is sometimes cheerfully hectic as they provide take-away lunches for many-a shop, office or workshop in the area, whilst dealing with those happy customers who choose to dine-in. Well done Team Gwen. Your hard work has achieved the results you deserve.

This is the best cafè deli in Garstang. The food is first class, home cooked food. Service with a smile. Smooth coffee, fine teas. The best
