My wife contacted the Gardeners Arms at quite short notice for a celebration of my fathers life after his cremation. From the initial contact and on the day, nothing was too much trouble. The buffet was superb and the staff friendly and accommodating. Thank you

Had a large booking (15) which was well organised and great communication. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food was brilliant and due to the organisation it all came out at the same time and hot. Simply cannot fault this place, will definitely go again.

Can’t fault the place really. Nice food, great Guinness and clearly a well run place. I’ll definitely return 5/5 The owner is rather a spiffing looking woman too

We were staying at a local B&B so wanted somewhere to get an evening meal; we were not disappointed with our visit to the Gardeners Arms! We enjoyed a couple of pints of Whinstable Bay and ordered to Homemade Kebabs from the menu. The food was excellent, huge portion and really tasty. Very friendly staff, prompt service, would certainly recommend to anyone visiting the area.

We arrived at 17:30 and was greeted by a warm welcome. The staff were very friendly and the services was quick. We had a drink in the garden ( the most lovely little space ) while we waited for our table . We then got shown to our table and given a menu . Once we placed our order . A manger sorry I can’t remember her name but I think it was Sarah ? Come over and had a chat with us. Lovely touch. The our dinner come out and I must say WOW THE CHEAF WAS AMAZING NOTHING WAS TO MUCH TROUBLE . The whole experience was fantastic. If you’re looking for a country pub with live music good food and fantastic staff then you get it all here.

Sadly the new menu is limited, expensive & disappointing. We waited nearly two hours to get our mains. When a side of leaves is a veg choice & comes in a ramekin you are in for disappointment. Several orders were wrong & veg & some meats not available. Sadly we won't return if new chef doesn't cater for the pub's regular & possible clientele.

All 4 of us really enjoyed our roast at the Gardeners Arms. Good value for money, great service in a lovely fun atmosphere, great food that didn’t break the bank. So good to be in a packed, jolly pub with pre Covid atmosphere. Music, chatter and laughter, just like the old days. I’ll definitely be going again with the family.

Lovely atmosphere. Staff were very attentive and we were made very welcome. The food was delicious and it was nice to see more than one vegetarian option on the menu. We will definitely be returning.

We arrived in good time for our 15:30 booked table & waited with a drink at the bar, 40 minutes later we were still waiting, notified a member of the staff & she replied it was due to a booking error that we were waiting!! We had booked a table at least two weeks ahead & had a confirmation phone call from a member of staff three days before. Now we get to the food! The waiting staff were very attentive, but when we tried to book our chosen items we were informed that only two items from the menu were available. Ok they were busy, but that is poor planning? One of our party decided to have a starter rather than a main meal, which came out as a starter, not with the mains. The remaining members of our party patiently waited for our food, we understand that at times fresh food takes a while to cook, but what came out was not fresh vegetables. The only hot item on the plate was the roast potatoes; everything else was at best luke warm. The gravy in small copper pots was stone cold! It was duly sent back to the kitchen to be re plated & heated. The second attempt was almost as bad. The mixed vegetables were dehydrated; the gravy was still barely warm & some token sprouts had been added. The stuffing by this time looked more like a ‘brownie’ square. Hunger took over & we ate what we could. The saving grace was that we weren’t charged for three of the meals. Even so it’s going to take lots of positive reviews before we return. I’m sad that the review is bad, but these places won’t learn if this sort of meal is acceptable.

I enjoyed the service and the drinks were very nice. However. The bar staff, I think named poppy? Made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. They were rude to me when I asked for a drink, and kept giving me evil looks when I tried to be friendly. This is my local pub, however I’m not sure if I’ll return as I felt very upset with the way I was treated. The bar staff told me she re joined, however I don’t understand why she was rude to a local and regular paying customer. The gardners arms please help me as I like coming in, however I feel nervous to attend again. However the new bar staff named ‘jack’ seemed very welcoming and made me feel at ease.

Another lovely meal at the gardeners, delicious hot food, with proper chips, presented well, very good bottle of wine in super glasses (no cheap horrible thick glasses here) and good size portions, all served by pleasant cheerful staff. 👍🏻

Me and a few friends decided to come here. We always comment on how lovely it is and should make more of an effort to come again. Ordered the ploughman's which was very reasonable and plenty of food . The wine choice was also very good . We went for the sancerre roger neveu. Lovely. For the price, ambience and quality we will definitely come again .

Decided to have breakfast here this morning, it was quaint and picturesque... so thought would be lovely, pot of tea ordered by my husband and 2 sausage and egg cobs, ... when they came we were terribly dissatisfied, one sausage that was too small for the bread and the egg it was more like having a fried egg sandwich, the egg was an extra 75p which is OK I guess but £4.35 for one sausage 1 egg in a breadcake did not feel like good value for money. Can get a dozen sausage for less than that. Queried the waitress and she just said that's how we do it 🤨 not sorry about your disappointment or anything, seamed a little rude a response if you ask me. Safe to say we won't be returning.

I have visited this venue twice in May & July.Lovely spacious dining hall but can be noisy if very busy as it's high ceilings. Super fresh food & Cakes etc . Friendly staff , reasonable price Mushroom risotto (watch out hard stalks) Lovely views, parking free. A lovely spot.

We bought a Groupon offer based on the picture on the advert on Groupon. All we got was 3 tiny finger sandwiches with minimal filling. A cheese straw which was half the size shown in the picture. No pork pie. No sausage rolls etc. A packet of crisps shared between us. Scones were nice but our cakes were cherry slice which was topped with a very runny icing & a tiny child size fairy cake topped with hundreds & thousands. Don't let the pictures fool you!!!

Great old pub that we visit every year during the summer months, food was ok, and this year seems like standards have slipped, paddock area in the garden looking very tired and in need of a makeover, had 2 pints and only one was decent, would return but hopefully improvements made

Very nice friendly place with welcoming staff but wear your eating clothes as you will need extra room to store the food that you are served.
