My husband & I had a wonderful wedding at the Cottonwood back in 2015 and love to revisit. For our first post pandemic trip back we booked an Afternoon Tea for Easter Monday. Upon arrival we noticed that there were no guest cars onsite which was the first warning sign. When we entered the hotel we were greeted rudely and informed that whilst our booking was in the system there was no chef in that day and he had not been told that we had booked. We were initially told to rebook but as we were only visiting Bournemouth for the Easter weekend we were then told that if we could wait 10mins then they would contact the chef, who lives onsite, and serve us something! Not the most professional welcome or customer management. We did not wait and shall not be returning. Since our last visit the hotel has begun to look run down and in drastic need of an update.

We came here for a surprise 2nd anniversary afternoon tea. We arrived on time but it took about 10 minutes to be seat. This wasn't due to being busy because it wasn't busy. The receptionist mumbled to us to take a seat near the seating area and someone will be with us soon. We waited for 10 minutes before we approached a staff member to ask to be seated. Every member of staff who walked past us averted their eyes from our gaze as if we were an ex partner. I wouldn't expect this from a premier inn let alone a hotel rated as highly as this. Once we were seated someone came over to us with the menus for the afternoon tea. We made our choices and about 15 minutes later our food and tea arrived. We had beef & mustard, tuna & mayonnaise, cheese & mayonnaise and egg and cress. They were all lovely expect for the tuna which was a bit bland. The bread was very soft. The scones with clotted cream and jam were amazing but then this is always the case with scones with clotted cream and jam. The cake by this point were far less appetizing than they were at the start due to being stuffed! I did try both though and the apple cake was very dry. The chocolate cake was a heavy dark rich affair that I don' think goes well with an afternoon tea. The room looked very trendy and stylish but after being sat down for a few minutes you soon start to notice the tears in the wallpaper, where it is coming away from the wall, where it is starting to come apart at the seams or where they've (for some reason) stuck sellotape on the wallpaper and then tore it off leaving a very noticeable white patch on a pink background (there is lots of these). In all, the food was really good and lived up to what I was expecting but the service was a little lacklustre and the décor is a bit tired which is why it is 3/5 rather than 4/5.

We thoroughly enjoyed dinner at the Garden Restaurant at the Cottonwood Hotel recently. The meal was superbly cooked and presented and served by efficient, friendly and very professional waiting staff. The meal, together with a bottle of wine, was reasonably priced and I certainly thought it very good value for money. Menu choice was excellent and catered for all tastes. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant.

Top marks to the chef for cooking everything well, and creating great flavours in the meal. Poor marks to the buyer for less than the best quality ingredients - in my opinion.

Red carpet and red flock wallpaper on the walls AND ceiling gave the restaurant a 1960s feel . The food was fine for the price . I was put out when ordering a bottle of L'Hospitale Sancerre ( £29.95) we were served a completely different Sancerre and the waiter didn't even notice what he was doing 'it is the only Sancerre'!!. There're is a different wine listed on the web site. Just be careful

I took some clients to this restaurant for a business lunch. It is situated within the Cottonwood Boutique hotel and there was adequate parking in the car park. Inside the decor is quite interesting, there is a pink theme going on, but it looks nice and very modern. The staff member in the restaurant was very friendly and attentive. We were offered seating inside or outside. As it was sunny we thought we would give outside a go but there was quite a breeze coming off the sea that we retreated indoors. The menu offered a good choice and we picked the cured salmon with vodka and beetroot plus the salmon fishcakes. The starters came quickly and were really lovely, we loved the flavour of the cured salmon, it was very subtle. The mains followed quite quickly, we chose Tuna Nicoise, Risotto and Whole grilled plaice. Again good meals, the Tuna however was not pink and thinking about it we were not asked how we would like it done. We were too full for puddings but decided to order coffee until we were told that the decaf would be instant - we couldn't believe that and thought that if the coffee machine was not able to deliver a decaf that they would at least have a cafetiere that could have been used to make a decaf, so we decided to forgo coffee. Total bill £56 including drinks which we thought was reasonable. I would have allocated 5 stars but it was let down a little by the Tuna but mainly the coffee.

I have only just got around to writing this but I have comments to make on two visits. Firstly, we had our Christmas party in this restaurant and the quality of food was excellent, especially as they were catering for a large nuumber of people. My beef was so tender it melted in the mouth.Secondly, after the first experience I decided that we would return for Christmas Day and this again was excellent. I can't remember how many courses we had now but each course was well presented, served hot and tasted amazing. When it came to desert some of us couldn't choose so they let us have an extra desert which we shared. The chocolat fondant which is very difficult to cook for 2 let alone 100 was perfect!

We had dinner here with our ten month old baby. The staff had a high chair ready for us which was handy and were very good with her throughout our meal. She soon had a game of how many times can I throw my toy and get the waitress to pick it up going with them. My starter was smoked haddock risotto with a poached egg. It was nice but the risotto would have benefited from a little more flavour in my opinion, maybe a little spring onion to stop it being bland. My husbands cheese starter was very good. We both had chicken and tagliatteli for our main and that was tasty and filling. We were too full for a dessert each so we shared a slice of chocolate tart which was lovely. The meal came to £33.50 which I thought very reasonable for 2 starters, 2 mains, one dessert and a glass of house wine each. Water was provided free which was nice as I find it quite annoying when you ask for water and are charged more then the price of wine for a bottle of mineral water. There is a good wine list including champagne by the glass which did tempt me, maybe next time if we have a babysitter. There was entertainment just starting which sounded good but sadly baby was tired and we had to go back to our hotel next door.

We were staying the weekend at The Cottonwood Boutique Hotel. The hotel has a restaurant underneath named The Garden Restaurant. In the dining area upstairs of the hotel, near the bar there was entertainment on the Friday night. We viewed the menu & asked if it was possible to eat the restaurant food upstairs so we could listen to the solo guitarist (Paul) who was very good. They kindly said yes. The menu offered 2 courses for £14.95, add a 3rd for just £3.50, with the offer you were also given a glass of house wine, an excellent deal. I had Smoked haddock risotto, Chargrilled minute steak & Sticky toffee pudding for £18.45. My partner had Buffalo mozzarella & Sautéed wild mushrooms for £14.95 in all £33.40! We had been told at reception when checking in that the food was very good. It was late so we'd decided not to venture too far & give it a go. It was the greatest decision as our meal was absolutely fantastic, we were amazed with every mouthful. I've not added each of the dishes descriptions, however they were exactly what they promised & more. The bar waitress Gemma was also outstanding as her service to us was first class with a warm friendly attitude. So this was night one & we could have gone anywhere in Bournemouth on our 2nd night although we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant again. This time we went for the A La Carte Menu. 2 courses for £19.95 or 3 for £23.95. I had Ballotine of chicken and oyster mushrooms wrapped in Parma ham, Roast fillet pork & Baked New York cheesecake. My partner had Cod cakes & Braised lamb shank. This time we were honestly blown away with the outstanding presentation & exquisite flavours. We both agreed it was one of the best meals we'd ever had the pleasure of eating. Let me just add that the restaurant had allowed us to eat upstairs again where a woman was singing songs to suit the mood. After the meal we felt compelled to find out who was the creator of such fine food. We boldly went downstairs & marched into the kitchen where we found an entire team of well dressed chefs. They were in a huddle observing paperwork for what I presume were details of future meals? We asked who was responsible for the food? A man proudly stepped forward, I apologised for storming into his kitchen & explained why. He introduced himself as Gary, thanked us for our compliments & told us that all food is prepared from scratch in the kitchen. The other men were cleaning as we spoke, this kitchen was large & immaculate. Gary then kindly gave us 4 of his special hotel cookies, oh my god, the amazement continued, the cookies were devine, this man is very talented. I seriously wouldn't bother writing this if I wasn't genuinely impressed. We live near Romsey & will be driving down to Bournemouth sometime in the near future to experience the taste sensations again. I will also check beforehand if Gary is still there delivering his mastery. I highly recommend visiting The Garden Restaurant in The Cottenwood Boutique Hotel, you will not be disappointed, this is not an opinion, it's a gaurentee.

We went to The Garden Restaurant for our Valentines meal, and could not have been happier. The decor from the moment you walk into the hotel is wonderful and we felt instantly that we were somewhere special. The bar area is beautiful, and the staff very helpful. Once seated at our table, things only improved further, with a plethora of helpful and friendly staff, in another beautifully decorated part of the hotel. Our meal was sublime, with each course being exceptionally well cooked, and with good portions. Upon leaving the hotel, the friendly receptionist ordered us a taxi, and we left feeling extremely satisfied. Everything was very reasonably priced, and we would definitely recommend going here.

We were tempted here by their sign proclaiming 'three courses and wine for £15'. Initially stopping by for afternoon tea (which was excellent - outstanding service at the bar and great quality) we returned later for dinner. We weren't disappointed. Service by the skilled restaurant supervisor and his assistant was top-notch (perhaps even a little too efficient - once a plate was cleared while my mouth was still full). We paid to upgrade the sauvignon blanc to a bottle, and our main courses to steaks. Both were excellent, as were the starters and desserts. In the end, we had three courses and a bottle of wine, including steaks each, for under £50. The same meal, probably poorer quality, and worse service, would have cost me double in London. We were well impressed, and noted that instead of responding to competition by cutting costs, raising quality really has given the Bournemouth resident or visitor excellent choice of dining. First class.

This is a super new restaurant for my family and me to visit in Bournemouth. It became a "Boutique Hotel" fairly recently and whilst I can't vouch for the hotel itself we thought it was a very nice addition to our list of local restaurants for Sunday lunch. My daughter had been for dinner with a party of her colleagues and they were impressed so when we were discussing where to go for a combination birthday celebration for my wife and our son's partner this restaurant was chosen. The staff are French and the food is really good, as is the service. Sunday lunch with a few twists is an ideal way to give this restaurant an initial try. You can also practice a little of your French with the charming waitresses. There shouldn't be a problem with parking because there is a service road in front of the hotel as well as it's own car park but if "the worst comes to the worst" there is ample metered on road parking, which can be much cheaper than usual at the weekend. Finally to "walk off" your lunch "The Toft" zig-zag footpath down to the beach and promenade is accessed to the left coming out of the front entrance to the road. A perfect way to end your meal.

We went to this restaurant after receiving a leaflet through our front door with offers on, and decided to go here for our Anniversary. We later found out that these offers weren't available on this day, however it didn't deter us because the place looked quite nice, so we booked a table in advance. We got to the hotel (where there was no parking available on the site), and the restaurant was easy to find, got into the restaurant and after a couple of minutes of waiting were shown to our table. Our table was in the corner, the seats were plastic, and we only had one napkin! We got served fairly quickly, though we were expected to order our food straight away! However we did ask for a few minutes to decide. We both ordered scallops to start, whilst my partner ordered duck and I ordered venison sausages for mains. We were then told that there were no scallops whatsoever (!) and no more duck, so we needed longer to choose as the menu was not extensive at all (only about 6/7 meals there), and my partner was unsure of what she could have. So we ordered different starters and she then ordered a cod fillet in creamy tagliatelle. Starters arrived promptly, with bread - altogether not bad at all! Small portions though. Then, we waited for at least an HOUR before getting our mains!! The venison sausages were ok, though the mash and gravy a bit rich. My partners cod was not very nice - very bland - it was as if it hadn't been seasoned at all. So she didn't really eat it, after a good go at it. What was nice of them though was that she got a free cocktail for it. However, never going here again! Would definitely not recommend it. Service slow, food average, poor value for money, menu limited.

There are so many different types to choose from, and they're all well-kept. * The cocktails are also delicious and creative. * The food is fresh and flavorful.
