The food was quite bad!! It’s not Chinese food!! The fried rice taste of masala!! It’s not run by Chinese team either.. I wouldn’t recommend anyone if they are looking for Chinese food!! But good quantity food!

Best experience I've ever had by far! All week we've been ordering for 40 and they're the only ones who were truly up for the challenge. It was delicious, it arrived warm, they were meticulously organised and had the nicest service. We ordered basically everything on they're menu and everything was as delicious as the other. The portions and even the sauces were very generous. Personally, we loved the spring rolls.

The food is good however when visiting the shop you can see through to the cooking area and the mess is all on display. Food on floor and worktops. Employees need to keep the kitchen area clean and be mindful that the public can see past the counter. It’s a massive put off. Please clean your kitchen space

I have finally found a halal chinese place after years! We ordered a few items having zero expectation and was honestly blown away at the dishes and the quality of the food. Definitely highly recommended!

I hate leaving bad reviews but the food here was absolutely horrible. Could be because it was almost closing time but it felt like I was served leftovers. It'll take a lot to convince me otherwise

One and a half hours later I phone them and it still hasn't left. Can't tell you what the foods like because it ain't here. Phoned up lots of shouting in the background and lied to me telling me that it had already left. If your busy tell the truth.

The duck chow mein I ordered today was a complete disappointment. The duck was overcooked and chewy, and the noodles were over roasted and lacking in flavor. Definitely not worth the money.

We ordered a home delivery from Gao for the first time yesterday. We were delighted with the food. Very big portions and all lovely. We had the Gao special rice which is enough for 2 people and a meal in itself. I had vegan beef in black bean sauce. Amazingly yummy! We had chicken curry too, great. Mum had the chips which were hot and crispy. Thank you Gao!

Noodles soggy, food did not taste freshly made. Ended up throwing half of it away. Should have looked at reviews first. (Owner - Just eat order number 222500391 just in case you want to check)

if there is anything less than 1 i will give to these bunch of people with poor customer service. They could not deliver my food in 2 hours, not even a courtesy to call that they will not, when i eventually called, no apology, no empathy for an hungry man

Extremely rich and tasty food, order from just eat though to get a free egg fried rice along with your chicken with black bean curry. Rich flavour, perfectly cooked lamb ribs. Fluffy and fat chips and a flavourful curry sauce.

Food was delicious and the flavours are amazing. I highly recommend this food it’s not too expensive and the portions are huge, so it’s great value for money the atmosphere and people are also amazing so I highly recommend it’s also HALAL which is great.

Oh, Gao Express! I've heard great things about that place. The food is delicious, especially their General Egg fried rice with singapori sauce and chicken balls and sweet & sour chicken. The portions are generous, and the prices are reasonable too. The staff is friendly and provides excellent service. Overall, it's a fantastic spot for some tasty Chinese cuisine! 😋🥡

My favourite place to get food from the crispy beef& salt and pepper chips are a 10 went there this evening to collect my food didn't no my husband had ordered it over a hour ago the owner was very kind didn't want to give it to me he made fresh food while I waited free of charge

TERRIBLE IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR HEALTH THEN STAY FAR AWAY FROM HERE. Just ordered through deliveroo as it has 4.3 stars on there . Food arrived smelling off the smell is terrible. I wish i had read the google review’s before ordering. Anyone who says they had food poisoning believe them . Disgusting im complaining to the council.

Second time ordering from here, I really loved the food especially the king prawns. Very good experience and very good staff.I will definitely order again. :)

Quality has gone down. They did offer to make another the first one we had a problem and it was still not good. The second time the same thing so instead we asked for a different dish I tired it straight away and have gotten home and seems like they put the old dish in the new one. Will not be ordering again from here unfortunately.

I’m so sorry but the food here is disgusting and I do not leave reviews much but I have to say it. I don’t think food should be served knowing it’s old and expiring. It tastes like they make the food days in advance and heat it up when an order comes in microwave or stir fry. I spent over £70 on collection and I could not finish anything it all went in the bin. Also no free prawn crackers which is not a complaint just unusual. for a Chinese. As you can see, I ordered salt and pepper prawn but it was so over cooked it turned into dried prawns. Same with my salt and pepper chicken. They either had this old, and refried it or just let it overcook and still chose to serve this. Which I think is really terrible. All my noodles tasted like the smell of feet. Old and slimey It’s not like the food was cheap either. If you sell cheap quality food, I would understand with a cheap price but for £7 a dish on average don’t use old meat and cheap cuts . £7 for 6 prawns is crazy too. Terrible. So sad.

Tried this place my first night during my weekend stay at Stevenage and I’m proper fussy so I had to thoroughly go through reviews. Trust me the reviews are 100% accurate. Amazing customer service, decent size portions, taste was 10/10 and reasonably priced . I went back the next day for another ! It was that good. The interior is also very modern and clean, in case you fancied eating in. Gao express Stevenage ! I’ll be back !!

I’ve mostly had their takeaway and delivery, food is average - good for a quick eat. The bean sauce can be very spicy and the curries too thick. But the food in general isn’t bad, decent chopsuey, people are very friendly on the phone with a prompt delivery service. Vegetarian options are also pretty decent. I like the vegetarian noodles, they have a good amount of vegetables and portions are reasonably big.

Was about to order food, had a £100 order ready. Thought let me quickly check the reviews before placing such a large order. After seeing recent negative reviews, where the owners make no attempt to defend their business. I came to the conclusion this is not a place to give my business. I did not go ahead with the order and decided to go for a kebab and burgers instead from a local takeaway. You have too many bad reviews. No way would I order from You until you answer all the people who have has bad experience. This place not to be trusted, who knows what the meat is made from.

Just had my first order today. When I was ordering, I was wondering why there wasn't any pork in their menu. After receiving the delivery, I saw their leaflet which says 'Halal'. Gao Express is one of the worst Chinese restaurants!!! COME ON! YOU ARE A CHINESE RESTAURANT! YOU SHOULD SERVE PORK!

My go to Chinese in Luton. Safe to say I have had a few bad experiences with other Chinese restaurants in Luton but Gao is yet to disappoint me. Food delivery is always delivered within 30 minutes even on a busy weekend. Food is always hot and fresh! I’ve never had to ring and complain about my Order. I always order via just eat but I may start ordering with the restaurant directly so I can give credits where it’s due. Great tasty takeaway! Would definitely recommend if you’re here looking for a good Chinese.

Beef don’t go in special fried rice stop this gentrification of authentic Chinese please or don’t do it at all or atleast state the main ingredients on Uber eats. Adding beef changes the whole taste and waters the special fried rice down hence why Chinese people use pork

The bag has been delivered full of food spilt over all the other dishes. The ribs are bone with very little meat and lots of fat. Chewy and tough, it’s disgusting to charge £8.50 for these ribs! The chips were dry, old, cold and inedible. Most of the chips have black mould on them. The food is absolutely not worth what we paid. Do not understand how you can serve this to people and charge the prices you do.! AVOID.!!! The restaurant were not helpful. They told me that it wasn’t their fault as they buy the ribs in ?!! I mean seriously.. you boxed those up… so you saw what you were serving us and you were happy to serve us them! As for the duck that is in the duck rice is dry and tough and again another inedible meal.! Never again.!! Only ordered from here because our usual place is closed today. Never again,! Shown as example of one of the ribs… the other pics are available and have been sent to just eat! Disgraceful.!

I was at bowling with my children in stevanage. I was seeing what is local and came across this resturant. I called them and they did not pick up but called me back. I asked the member of staff if you can dine in and he said yes we have tables etc. I got there with my children. No high chair for the baby. No plates. Gave us boxes to eat in. The shredded beef awful. I took one bite and left it alone. Tasted like it's been made with ketchup which I hate the taste of. The chillie chicken in salt and pepper was not even spicy for my 7 year old! Spring rolls were standard and taste what you can do at home. I thought the reviews were good until I realised they must be left from the local people who live near this shop as the people coming in and out looked not the greatest. I only cook with halal meat at home and I am pakistani and cook very well. We love Chinese food but this by far was horrid. Worst experience and never again! I don't know why it's saying Luton. This is the stevanage branch that I am leaving a review for. Never been to the Luton one and nor desire too!!
