Favourite place!! The food is great and very friendly staff. Fab gluten free sandwiches with all the trimmings. Only downside is there’s not enough tables sadly. Best to book tables.

If you’re ever in Bakewell, Derbyshire make sure to pop in to Gallery Cafe. The tea was a very good quality loose leaf and the sandwich was absolutely delicious. The bread was extremely fresh. The cakes looked heavenly, but we were very good and passed them by on this occasion.

We found this lunch spot by accident, and really glad that we did. We had the soup sandwich option, it was really delicious. The staff are really friendly and service is really good. We would definitely return, as it is a perfect lunch spot in Bakewell. Highly recommend!

All very nice and twee , but very very slow. Wish I had bought a parking ticket for 4 hours - only popped in for quick cafe lunch. Took for ever to get menus, then food arrived at different times, like 15 minutes apart! God knows what it is like when busy. But lovely food and people.

Perfect place for a cup of tea and cake. Fabulous loose leaf Derbyshire tea accompanied by the lightest scones with clotted cream and raspberry jam. Delicious. Staff very friendly. (Also impressed with the eco bamboo toilet roll and luxury soap in the toilets!)

Regularly eat here and always superb lunch with very friendly staff. The daily homemade soup is delicious and a proper pot of tea.

Popped in for a cuppa, but ended up having lunch too. It was really busy, but the staff were all really friendly and relaxed. We both opted for the green vegetable soup with sourdough toast. It was just delicious. Will definitely come again

On arrival, there were no tables available. The waitress was really helpful and took my phone number so she could let us know when a table became free. About ten minutes later, I received a call and we were able to make our way to the cafe and sit down. We ordered drinks and food. I had a falafel wrap and my partner had a chicken wrap. Both came with crisps, a salad and coleslaw. The food was delicious. The service was also brilliant - really friendly and helpful. I would definitely go back again.

Cute little tucked away café in Bakewell. I wouldn't stay I was blown away by anything, but I would visit again if I'm ever in Bakewell.

There are so many cafes in Bakewell.. but km so glad I stopped at this one. I had walnut goats cheese and beetroot on sourdough set in bed of salad. It looked amazing. They also deconstructed a meal to suit my daughter's food sensory issues......

I'm always sceptical when somewhere gets such good reviews but it sounded like just what we wanted. It didn't disappoint. The staff were welcoming and charming, the food high quality and the cakes delicious. We had the Derbyshire party cake with mushroom and cheddar, roasted veg toastie and parsnip soup, none of which could be faulted.I would particularly recommend the coffee - I know tastes can be very personal, but they made my coffee exactly how I wanted it.

TripAdvisor right again!Walked into Bakewell from Rowsley for lunch, asked TA who directed us to the Gallery cafe.Delicious Derbyshire oatcake (a kind of thick pancake) and super-fresh warm Bakewell tart did the job.Excellent decaf coffee and ginger and honey water tea, charming and efficient service; no surprise they’re rated #1.

Really enjoyed lunch here recently.The food is good quality & generous portions.Not the cheapest but then Bakewell is an expensive place.The staff were very good,efficient & polite.It would be better I think if it was full table service.The cafe itself is set in a lovely antique shop & is very clean.I would definitely go back

We went to the Gallery Cafe a couple of times for breakfast and were never disappointed. Great coffee, great food and great service, it is a hidden gem hidden in a museum/Antiquary, which makes the place even more special. We recommend 100%.

Really nice service and good food in an original authentic place. As a local we’ll be back for poached eggs brunch again.

Thank goodness for Gallery Café. It is spotlessly clean, food is really lovely and beautifully served, coffee is great. The ladies are all so very nice, to deal with and so very smart. Our Club sandwich and garnishes were really fresh. Thank you for a lovely lunch in such a pretty setting we look forward to coming back.

What’s not to love? Friendly and efficient service with a smile. Food is always presented beautifully and is very tasty. The scrambled eggs are always a winner with me - something simple, but so delicious. Beautifully smooth coffee finishes off breakfast/brunch perfectly.

Everything was lovely - a very special experience for my Mum and I. I missed the Christmas Tea that I remembered from last year - exotic & full of spices! But that was just me! The food was exquisite, with excellent service. We will definitely be back next year to continue our new Christmas tradition.

Fantastic hotel, service and food

Extra special as my daughter got an extra desert to welcome her home from Japan. She was thrilled.

The service was exceptional, The Westbury is truly a magical part of our Christmas.

Had a lovely time. Amazing place to spend some family time especially at Christmas. Staff were very attentive and I am already looking forward to the next opportunity to go back.

Regretfully when our two hours of food drink n fun were up. we tried to get into the bar n were refused. Apparently the bar was full? So, we asked.... is there somewhere else on the Gallery we can sit. No was the answer.??.? After speaking to a manager we were allowed to sit at a table til the Next group arrived. That group failed to turn up. What a disappointment. Had the lack of after tea seating been explained to us. We’d have booked somewhere else.

We really enjoyed our visit to the westbury for afternoon tea, everything was just perfect and the staff were fab.

Everything was perfect except I felt the menu a little bit limited in the gallery. We dined here a number of times before and had a much better choice.we didn’t realize that the menu had changed. Having said that ,what we had was absolutely top class. Many thanks to Patricia for great and friendly service and the birthday plate for my wife was a lovely touch.

Afternoon tea at the Gallery is an annual treat. You can't beat it for atmosphere and the friendly service. The scones are delicious !

Thought it was a lovely idea that the girl offered to take a picture of us. Food was lovely. Top tier wasn’t great but.

The food and service was excellent. Very disappointed to be seated beside a noisy table with iPads blaring noises from movies being watched by guests at that table.

Noticed that the sandwiches were under filled , a little dry on one side as obviously left out & not covered properly . Had been for afternoon tea 2 years previously and felt that on this occasion the overall quality, experience , and service was not as good. Staff not as attentive or friendly. Was also given the incorrect bill & took a while for them to resolve.

Some of the staff in the gallery were outstanding and were more than helpful and looked after us wonderfully well. One staff member was very unhelpful and almost rude. Overall the good staff outweighed the bad experience. On the other hand I tried to find a space to have a drink with my sister and husband but couldn’t get anywhere in this hotel to do so. Even though we are residents in the hotel and staying for three nights and have taken two rooms we could not get any help from staff to accommodate us. This is a five star hotel which cannot find room for their residents when they need it - disgraceful!!!!!!

I brought my Mam for afternoon tea. It was something we had always wanted to do, afternoon tea in the Westbury. I can say it nit only lived up to but exceeded our expectations. From the outset it was a fabulous experience from the reservations team managing to find us a table when I thought we’d missed out, to the amazing table we got and the fantastic staff on the day. The food itself was of the highest standard, was fresh and was wonderfully festive. The selection of teas had something for all tastes. I would recommend it to anyone. Thank you for making the day something we will remember forever.

Hi, we have been coming to the Westbury for Christmas afternoon tea for the last four years, but we were very unhappy with our table this year. We asked twice to be moved but were pawned off by the hostess.

Perfect venue for a catch up and great service and atmosphere.

Thank you for giving us a window seat as reqrusted. Our server was great by Ambrose. We were offered extra sandwiches and scones. Champagne was delicious. Unlimited tea and coffee. We got a to-go box which was great. Our only complaint was we had a long wait for the Bill and had to go up and find someone to pay. Apart from that it was terrific. A lovely Christmas treat.

Service was slow and disjointed. The wait staff seemed very busy and too thinly spread out. While very pleasant and courteous it was a little disconcerting to have to remind them a few times about our order etc. Did not spoil the experience however which overall was wonderful.

Setting and atmosphere were great. White bread for some of the sandwiches were slightly hard like they had been sitting out prior to service. Water was requested from 2 servers, this took over 30 minutes to arrive. No issues with tea or coffee, both were excellent. Staff in general were excellent.

We had a very bad experience, we had 5 different staff to serve us. The waitress that served the plates of food had long hair down to her bottom untied & it kept hitting the food which we did bring to her attention! Some of the sandwiches the bread appeared as if they had been left out in the open!On several occasions we had to pour our own tea! When ordering a couple of rounds of drinks the particular waitress obviously didn’t like her job! She was very unpleasant. We as a family certainly won’t be back!

Very warm and friendly greeting with that all important smile as soon as you enter, what a great start. Well laid out with comfortable seating and very good decoration, small menu and a fabulous looking choice of cakes. Soup of the day went down a treat followed by a great tasting coffee and cake, definitely worth viewing this Gallery.

The phone of one member of our party was stolen while we were here so that obviously put a damper on an otherwise lovely evening.

Afternoon tea on Friday was a lovely experience, staff were very attentive. Overall the food was delicious, although the bread on the egg sandwich was a bit dry. The scones and cakes were divine. We took in leftovers away in stylish boxes. We had a two hour time slot at 5pm which ran over by about 30 minutes so we didn’t feel rushed. A very relaxing day, highly recommended.

Annual tradition for my friend and I to go to Westbury for afternoon tea in the lead up to Christmas. Staff excellent preempt your needs but not intrusive. Thought Westbury really stepped it up this year with the desert section with snowmen cake Santa hats gave it a real festive feel but most importantly absolutely delicious

The service, the atmosphere and the food was amazing. Couldn’t find a single fault. Every morals of the afternoon tea was delicious. I’ve been for afternoon tea in allot of hotels and this was by far the best.

The afternoon tea was a real treat. The service was excellent, the staff couldn't do enough for you. We added the champagne on for an extra €15 per person - personally, I felt that you should get a least one top up. Other than that everything was excellent.

Festive afternoon tea at the Westbury was absolutely fabulous. The setting was fabulous The food was divine and Remi and Flora who served us were so welcoming and lovely ... they couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely return for afternoon tea in the future!
