Galleria in St. Helens

I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a meal so much. I ate three courses of which the starter and main were huge portions but I couldn't stop as they were all so delicious and ate the lot. My dessert was basically ice cream with a rich toffee sauce and digestive biscuits crumblings over it, just enough to finish my meal off and all washed down with 2 glasses of house Merlot.

Our first time at this restaurant and certainly won't be our last. Went for an anniversary meal and wasn't disappointed. The food was as good as any restaurant we've ever ate at, including Michelin & Rosette. Service from Emily was excellent and she took the time to chat and give advice about the local area. Look forward to returning :)

Ordered steak rare unfortunately way over cooked ( this was a £23 supplement which meat over £40) so you exotic to be cooked as ordered. Then the table was being cleared while still eating. Told chef only human pay for what I had had a not to return. I have been to many fine dining restaurants this is not that.

Lovely little restaurant in Rainhill Village. As I have Coeliac disease I have to be very careful about the menu, but I had no need to worry at all. We rang and booked a table for my husbands Birthday and explained about my dietary requirements which weren't a problem. Lovely lady greeted us and showed us to our table and explained if I would like something from the menu she would double check everything with the chef that it was GF and even said he could probably adapt the dish. No need to worry at all. I had the goats cheese for starters which normally came with a crostini but mine was served without and for the main course I had the pan fried roast chicken with the mushroom sauce and vegetables. Both dishes were delicious and absolutely Gluten Free. Thank you Galleria, your food was delicious and I can honestly say I will be back.

Our second time with friends who so much enjoy Galleria when they visit Rainhill, needless to say, the restaurant never disappoints

Came here on Saturday evening with friends who had never been before. They asked me to recommend somewhere - so where else? An easy decision. Galleria is always first class, from the staff to the surroundings to the delicious food. My friends thoroughly enjoyed it too. My sea bass was perfect, can't remember the sauce but I could've licked the plate afterwards! One friend also had the sea bass and the other had the pork fillet. They both said it was gorgeous, clean plates all round. For dessert, apple pie, chocolate fudge cake and my Affogato - yum yum. Can't wait to go again. Thank you Mala and staff x

Came here for a family celebration-five of us. A fantastic meal-excellent presentation and cooked to perfection. Couldn’t fault it and service very attentive. Will definitely be back and can’t recommend highly enough!

Absolutely fantastic restaurant. The service was great! The staff were very nice and friendly. The atmosphere was lovely, calm and comfortable. The food was perfect, we couldn't believe how good the food was and for such great value. We've paid a lot more for food not at this standard. We had three courses - delivered in good time (not too quick and not waiting too long). The starters - torched sea bream, confit chicken leg, salmon terrine and roasted cauliflower salad were all delicious and left us all looking forward to the mains. The mains - pork fillet, lamb rump, duck breast and crusted cod were amazing with lovely accompainments, just the right size and so yummy. The only thing we felt could have been improved was the selection and dressing of the desserts. Each tasted lovely but felt like not the same level of care as in the starters and mains. Caramel apple pie had soft pastry (not crispy from oven reheating), the pouring cream we would have prefered in a jug to pour ourselves and could do with some finishing touches (i.e. raspberries or mint leaves on the lemon roulade, toppings/brandy snap would have been nice on the sundae). However, these were minor improvements to push it to the same standard we'd come to expect from the starters and mains. The whole experience was fantastic and we can't wait to go back! Big five stars and more!

Came here with family on Sunday 16 April 2023 for lunch. Everything was perfect, as always (my favourite restaurant). Mala served us, so lovely to see her. I started with the fresh sardines, which I've always wanted to try so very pleased they were on menu (yummy). For main I had the crispy pork belly, which was amazing, the crackling best I've ever had. Didn't want it to end. All the accompanying vegetables cooked to perfection too. Although quite full I 'forced' myself to have a dessert, Affogato, which was also yummy. Can't wait to go back again. xx

5 Star Gem Unbelievable find***** It was accommodating and welcoming Front of house... to find us a table without advance booking on a Friday. The food was Exceptional 2 courses at the mo for £19.95 with luxury choices only a touch more. Great staff and owner all attentive Really made an effort to make a meal for a teen which was excellent. Very enjoyable atmosphere and surrounds with local artists on the walls 5 star exceperience

Great place to eat, really great service and amazing art to view and buy if something really takes your fancy. Will be back again in August I hope!

We went here Saturday night for a family meal for my sons 19th birthday. Food was lovely, staff pleasant and friendly, cosy surroundings and the artwork on the walls by local artists was fab. Really nice evening will definitely be going back.

Drove past this place for years and ended up booking with a group. Lovely staff, great atmosphere and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the soup which you could tell was homemade and then steak which was like butter and didn't last long. Would recommend and also go back. Little gem.

Visited Galleria (Rainhill) on Friday night, not our first visit as we are usually very happy with the quality of food and standard of cooking provided. However, we were hugely dissatisfied on this occasion. The 3 course Christmas meal - was more expensive than advertised on the website! (website misleading.) The main course and dessert were very disappointing with regards to portion sizes and food temperature, for example the pork option consisted of one slice of meat, one small carrot and one sprout (not joking) and was luke warm. Christmas pudding not what you'd imagine, a small thin square with some sauce ! and was also lukewarm. Chocolate pudding option was remarkable for the fact that one of our guest received a much smaller portion than the other. Should have complained but did not want to cause a fuss or embrasment in front of our guests. Terrible value for money, in hindsight should have gone to the Cookhouse Carvery at least you know its consistent and good value for money, no fancy menu descriptions!

Have been few times with my 2 close friends we love the choice of menu always something for everyone great service gorgeous atmosphere x always feel homely and welcome would defo recommend food, ambiance great value for money xx

Visited her twice in the last week and cannot complain with any element of the food, service, location or staff. The belly pork on the mains is a must. The Lady is so attentive and friendly. Every meal we have been served has been 10/10. Well done.

This is our second visit within two weeks, (We have been to Galleria many times before this) as always, a fabulous experience, on our last visit (23 Sept) I had a personal request which was catered for in a very professional and admirable way with warm and welcoming staff, well done Galleria Our latest visit 4th October, proved again to maintain beautifully prepared meals of high quality both in presentation and taste at a very reasonable price.

1st visit won't be last had various food off the menu from pre starters ,starter,and main could not fault any of the meals selected ,service was excellent nice atmosphere within the restaurant art work around the restaurant was amazing ,would highly recommend the galleria and will return with friends soon

Went for Sunday lunch with sister-in-law, thoroughly enjoyed the meal - Broccoli and Stilton soup, Crispy stuffed mushrooms followed by lamb roast and crispy belly pork with crackling. Too full to have a dessert unfortunately. Service excellent and as previous reviewer mentioned, great to see Norman again! Looking forward to return visit.

We had an excellent meal. Food was delicious and very good value on the midweek set price deal. Service was excellent, a fantastic manageress and it was lovely seeing Norman back! The duck starter was great and both the feather blade of beef and the lamb shank were excellent. Decent sized portions, great cooking and interesting combinations.

Just returned home after a superb meal at Galleria with friends. We were looking for a local independent restaurant not serving pub fayre and thought we would give Galleria a try. However after reading the recent reviews I was a little concerned. I should not have been. Wow were we surprised ! Delicious food and plenty of it. I had the Duck and then the Chicken Supreme,; whilst my friends enjoyed the Sea Bass. Great ambience and excellent service. The staff were attentive and the food was hot. Our experience was a far cry from the negative previous reviews. I will most definitely be visiting again. Bonus of having the art of local artists displayed and for sale. I ended up purchasing two by Steve Bailey. Thank you to all the staff and the chef for a wonderful evening.

What a lovely gem of a place .and I had never been before! Last minute decision to go for a meal and I phoned to book. Lady was so helpful in getting timing right for us ( we had a tight window) Food was gorgeous..all freshly cooked..it makes such a difference. We enjoyed it so much we decided go all out and have dessert and both ordered the same. Anyhow there was only one crumble left so I ordered something different only for them to surprise me and find one for me as well. Went tonight for a catch up with friends. Wonderful service, friendly staff, decent cocktails. My goat cheese and beetroot 'patė' was lovely but came with just one crostini, not enough for the amount of goat cheese. Fresh tomato and roasted red pepper soup of the day was also good, however the salt and pepper chicken was 3 strips of breaded chicken strips with a chilli sauce?? No salt, no pepper not grilled? Quite disappointing. Our mains were decent. I had the asian pork belly which came with stir fried noodles (didnt think the combination worked to be honest) the pork belly was tasty though. My friend had the beef and that was seasoned very well and tender. Overall it was a nice evening out, the local art on the walls is fab and i actually walked away with a piece!!

Nice enough venue, clean and safe distancing with lovely staff. It has a limited menu so don't expect a lot but what there is looks ok on the menu. I chose hake and risotto but I was disappointed, the hake was dry (overcooked) and the rice was just not warm, in sufficient quantity and was very bland. My companions had belly pork and roast chicken dinners which looked ok and they both said it was alright. Would I go again? Yes, possibly, but not in a hurry.

Fabulous lunch with cheeky bottle of white. Garlic & chilli prawns very generous portion and tasted great. Mushroom soup very tasty & creamy. Slow cooked ox cheek with garlic mash was gorgeous & melt in the mouth. Rib eye nice with great triple cooked chips. Managed 1 desert of hot choc fudge cake & cappuccino. On the whole, delicious meal staff attentive & safe practice with screens & hand gel. Definitely worth a visit.

Went here last night, we both had the T bone steak medium rare and it came with triple cooked chips tomato and shallot also a dish of vegetables. The steak was cooked and seasoned beautifully, we finished off with a dessert. My husband had the vanilla cheesecake and I had the chocolate fudge cake and ice cream perfect end to a spot on meal. Staff were very attentive and polite and a lovely atmosphere.
