Absolutely avoid luke the plague! We booked this hotel as it said it was pet friendly and after a phone call to the hotel confirming that there was no extra charge for my 2 dogs . After a 3 hour drive we arrived and went to check in and was "greeted " by a very aggressive Asian man shouting that he was busy and i would have to wait. After a few minutes he slammed a pen and a form on the counter and simply said complete this. I filled in the form biting my tongue more for my wife's sake. I handed him the forms back and he demanded £120 which i questioned as we had already payed for our stay with booking.com. For the dogs he shouted and i explained that I had already confirmed with the hotel that there wouldn't be a charge for this. £120 must be paid for the dogs he demanded in a very aggressive manner to which i replied who do you think you are talking to? He turned away and disappeared! I spoke to another member of staff after waiting 10 minutes and he told me that the man i was speaking to was the manager and he had left the hotel and didn't know when he would be back. We had to book another hotel at short notice and eventually got our money back through our credit card as both the hotel and booking.com refused a refund.

Arrived in Alnmouth at 3pm today. Had a good look round, decided a couple of pre dinners drinks and spotted board outside The Schooner Hotel advertising Indian and English menu, takeaway. Perfect. We will have a couple of drinks and pick up some Indian takeaway starters to enjoy at our lovely cottage. Man at reception advised no chef, no Indian food, only option fish n chips or scampi n chips to sit in. Can someone ask them to remove the menus from the windows ( Indian and English) and board from the street then no-one will be fooled into thinking they can have an Indian meal. It is not rocket science.

On arrival the hotel was well presented, room was clean and tidy, bed was comfortable, breakfast was OK but pricey, had an evening meal on the Saturday night, it wasn't very good at all ,at 8pm in the evening they had "run out "of a lot of things on the menu, and the meal tasted as if it had been reheated in a microwave, would definitely not recommend this establishment to anyone especially as my partner had strong stomach pain a few hours after eating here

To be honest, all the reviews gave us a bit of a fright. But when we checked into the schooner hotel, it seemed really lovely, historical, beautiful and full of character. We got room no 31, which had a beautiful seafacing view. The food tasted amazing. The people in charge, Sam and Martin, were really hospitable. They welcomed us very warmly and honestly the Indian food there was one of the best I've ever had in England. English breakfast too in the morning was really nice and fulfilling. I think guests need to bear in mind that the place is almost half a century old, 453 years old to be precise. Which is amazing. So it's important to not expect 5 star stuff and understand that many aspects of the building like electrical work etc cannot be changed without compromising the historic integrity of the building. It's so great that Northern England's sailing legacy is still being preserved by people like Sam and Martin. Will definitely visit again when we're at Alnmouth. It's now become our favorite vacation spot.

This place was okay, if not brilliant two years ago. It has changed for the worse to the extent that it is a joke. Soft poppadoms and tasteless chutneys. Ordering a prawn dhansak we were told that prawns were off. Changing to chicken, lentils were off, so no dhansak. Naan bread was off, as were chapatis and any other sort of bread. When the one or two dishes that were available turned up they were disgusting. Even the beer was flat. We paid and left without eating the food.

What an awful place. Decor was great but our waiter did t know anything and kept going to kitchen to ask. We ordered a tea and it was probably the worst tea ever so we decided to leave and the tea which my wife had 1 sip of we were charged £3.85. Wont be back.

after a couple of visits to Alnmouth and if honest just not sure what the situation at this place was! we saw a couple of nice lads who one turned out to be the head chef so we wanted to have Indian and thought we would give it a whirl. we ordered way too much but it was all great, pickle tray was decent. between us we had a couple of curries rice and naan. we intend to keep coming to the area its our favourite place and we will come here again for takeaway.

We used to use this place regularly and had no issues. Today I collected a lamb curry which was un eatable. The lamb was chewy and the chips had changed since previously using this take away, they were hard and more like kabab chips. It was cold, the staff took 10 mins to sort the bill and couldn’t figure out the amount to charge. Clearly changed hands. Don’t waste your money use the Damaka around the corner, quality food.
