Five out of five I had a flight of excellent soups. Perfect for this cold weather. The soups were mushroom, cauliflower, minestrone, and clam chowder.

Usually this is the nicest cafe in the area which is why I decided to take my daughter out to lunch there. It wasn’t that busy so I didn’t expect a huge wait time. I wasn’t told about any waiting times either. I was seated for about 10 minutes before I had to go up to order and was told to sit back down. 5 more minutes and then someone came to take our order. We then waited another 40 minutes for our order of jacket potato and a kids meal. Certainly doesn’t take that long. I asked if it would be much longer to be told a large table was before me but they have started my order now. If I had known it was going to take so long I’d have gone elsewhere. My 5 year old can’t be expected to wait that long. We quickly ate and I went to pay. I then realised why it took so long; there was a young lad manning the kitchen single handed. Fair to say I won’t be returning. My child’s food was good but my jacket potato was hard and the beans tasted like they had added ketchup so I ate what parts I could and left the rest. Poor experience.

Returned after a delicious autumn afternoon tea to receive a completely different experience! The Christmas afternoon tea was okay but the service was extremely poor, we had to ask for extras like sugar and go up to the counter. Nobody came to the table once it’d be placed it the down. When we went to leave we asked for a box to take home the items untouched but they’d arrived, placed on a napkin and had stuck to the paper. I told the staff behind the counter and they just turned their backs. Didn’t acknowledge it or offer an apology. We therefore had to leave all of the scones and biscuits. As we left I commented again that it wasn’t acceptable and the only response was it’s never happened before.. such a shame as the first time was lovely and enjoyable. I’m pleased they’re doing so well that they don’t need a standard of customer service and repeat custom.

So we relocated from Manchester to Kirk Ella in East Riding in March 2021. Since that date we have been on a journey of discovery in East Riding, Hull, North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Cleethorpes is our place to go if we want a little bit of English seaside for the day. We have been to many places for something to eat. Anyway on a sunny Saturday at the end of February we went for a few hours. 5 adults and 2 grandchildren. We wanted something to eat, but did not want Fish and chips, pub meal or sit down meal. We just went into Cleethorpes centre and came across this little restaurant. I won't go into what everyone had but the menu was fine and the food and drinks available was very good. So my son had been a chef in Manchester but on moving decided on a career change. He is hard to please food wise and can be highly critical about food . We have had many meals in various places from "posh" to greasy spoon roadsides. The menu says its cheese on toast is famous, so he decided to have that with added bacon. Anyway since our visit we had a conversation about food whilst having a meal in Hull which he did not enjoy. During that conversation he said that the best thing he had eaten by a country mile since our move was the cheese on toast at this place. Trust me, if he says that, it is good. I know he was impressed because he left a sizeable tip for the staff. He has been in hospitality since leaving school and knows when staff should be rewarded for good food and service. The staff were polite and friendly and like i said the rest of the offerings were excellent as well. Will be visiting again.

What an amazing little cafe on St. Peter’s avenue. The lady that took us to our table was very friendly and made us feel nice and relaxed. The tables were very nicely set out to adhere to the government guidelines and the place was very clean and well looked after. I had the gallys breakfast and my other half had the breakfast butty and with two milkshakes and both the food and drink blew me away, the strawberry milkshake I had was delicious and my other half said her brownie milkshake was delicious and rated it 10 out of 10. The breakfast was delicious and freshly cooked. I love coffee but didn’t try one on this visit but will deffo try one next time and the coffee machine and grinder looked like something out of Star Trek so I bet it will taste amazing Will deffo be back here to try more of their menu but make sure you pop in if your ever going past, you won’t be disappointed

Lovely little cafe in Cleethorpes. Stylish Interior. Some great cakes as they also own the cake shop next door ! I called in for a late breakfast- a deep filled bacon bun and a coffee. Both were excellent. Their Welsh rarebit is also wonderful Efficient and friendly staff Very covid policy aware - hand sanitiser at entry, waiting to be seated at door, spaced tables and track and trace scheme in operation. 5 star in their category.

Visited with my friend today and I was quite disappointed. The breakfast was lovely, but it was rather off putting watching the staff try and sanitize everything with antibacterial wipes. I understand reducing the risk of infection, but wiping the doorknobs and menus after we'd left and while we were still there was a bit awkward to watch. One of the staff members went out and bought so many packets of wipes.

Day trip to Clee and we decided to wander off the front in search for a bite to eat and coffee, the placed looked inviting from the outside. We ordered a hot choc with cream, a latte and a mint tea which came really quickly. The hot chocolate was ridiculously sweet which for a child was fine but personally i couldn't have drank it myself, my coffee was very average. We ordered 2 sausage butties which also came quickly. Well i'm not sure what went wrong but we couldn't eat them. The only way i can describe the taste was sour. My son will eat literally any sausage, it's his fave thing but if he wouldn't eat it, in fact he wanted to spit it out. I took them back to the counter and just said they tasted awful. She asked if we wanted a replacement but i didn't want to risk it. Maybe they were fine and just not too our taste but i haven't tasted anything like that in 45yrs. Disappointed in our visit as expected more.

I don't believe it is a one off having read other reviews.. I recently visited here with my family, looking through the window it was quite busy but had a few spare tables. Upon entering a waitress looked us up and down and told us that 1 table was reserved and the other was for people wanting afternoon tea (never asking us if that was what we were having). we enquired what the waiting time was and she advised us not to bother as people were either waiting to order or were waiting for food... we decided to go for a walk down the high street and came back 5 minutes later. To our amazement 3 tables had been vacated and new customers were sat down. I didn't make a fuss and stood in the door (as next in the queue) after a further 5 minutes an elderly lady gave up her seat and said she had finished. I thanked her and was about to sit down....then the waitress approached me and said curtly "you can't sit there as we would block the entrance"... (there was 2 adults and a toddler).. the table was a good way from the door and we have been in lots of places with "cosier seating arrangements".. at this point I questioned the waitress and asked her if she had an issue with us or was this a management decision ... she smirked and said no, and pointed us out of the door...it is clear from my visit that they have some sort of "family policy"... THE STAFF WERE NOT FRIENDLY & THEY APPEAR TO HAVE AN "IF YOUR FACE FITS" POLICY!!!!

Wanted to try this after reading the reviews and seeing the pictures. The food is lovely, well prepared and presented, quality and quantity is top class. My reason for dropping it to a 4 is that I agree with an earlier comment, there is simply too much cake. you have the choice of a sandwich or cheese toastie, I had the cheese toastie which was really good scones and cake also excerlent. my only complain was that you only get a small pot of tea which only does one cup my husband has a cup of coffee.now I did not pour my tea straight away as we still had to wait 10 minutes before the food arrived, Half way through the tea my cup of tea got cold and I don't even have milk.So I asked if we could have another cup of tea and coffee. When I came to opay the 2 afternoon teas where £9.99 each but I had another £3,40 to pay for the extra drink, now I do not take milk or sugar so it was only 1 tea bag. I understand coffee is exspensive but my husband only drinks black coffee and does not take sugar so I feel this was rather exspensive, It has not put me off going again but I think I would ask for my drinks when I have nearly finished eating.

We have been to another place within the area for afternoon tea before, but we thoroughly enjoyed the food and atmosphere here so much more! The staff are so welcoming, helpful and friendly. I had the afternoon tea which consisted of cheese on toast with vegetable soup, which was lovely. My Mum had afternoon tea with assorted rolls of her choice. We noticed the place was buzzing when we arrived and continued to be busy throughout. I booked a table in advance having heard how busy the place can get. We didn't have to wait long for the food and drink, and when it arrived we were amazed at the choice available for such a reasonable price of £10 each.We could not fault our experience here one bit. We will definitely be back again! We also wanted to buy more cake (yes, more) before leaving, and we was recommended by a member of staff to go next door, as their cakes are the same and we'd probably get a bigger portion for the same price they charge (they also run the bakery next door). We were 2 adults with 4 very well behaved children, it was as though we were an inconvenience. It appears they gave slightly changed the menu and the way it is served. Our sandwiches were served on white bread cut into triangles, nothing paticularly fancy; previously they were served on buns. There were no other savouries, just tons of cakes. The cakes were a great mixture of chocolate, scones, meringues and carrot cake. I feel the meringues were too big and could easily be replaced with mini quiche and sausage rolls. I do like the way they're served on a mini picnic bench. A reasonable price, as I know a lot of other places charge a lot more for afternoon tea.

We visited on Sunday for an 18th birthday tea and must say I was slightly disappointed. I sat down at the end of the table as I was waiting for my daughter and her partner who were bringing a pushchair. The waitress heard me and said 'oh did I hear you say you had a pushchair'.I said yes do you have a highchair. She just said yes , no conversation and I felt a bit uncomfortable with her reaction. They didn't ask us if we wanted any drinks or anything while we were waiting for the other guests to arrive. We had to ask if it was possible to buy a drink. When they brought our tea out we saw just 8 sandwiches which was apparently to share between 3 of us.Surely there should of been 9 so we would of had 3 each!!My daughter didn't like any of the sandwiches so wd asked if she could have a chicken sandwich specially made for her as that is all she likes. The waitress replied no we haven't got any.Not everyone likes cheese and pickle or tuna which were the only choice we had. After realising we weren't too happy the waitress said she would pop next door to their other shop to see if they had any chicken left. She did bring some back but then asked my daughter to choose which sandwiches she would like to send back.Oh dear not very good customer service.I have always thought that afternoon tea consisted of tea or coffee too but we weren't offered any drinks and had to buy them separately. I'm afraid to say that customer service is not high on your list of customer satisfaction.I think it's safe to say I will not be returning.

Visited today for my mums birthday and the service was excellent throughout. We had afternoon tea and the staff were very accommodating and with one person being lactose intolerant the staff prepared wonderful alternative desserts for her even making lactose free cream for the scones! Nothing was too much trouble. Prices were fantastic. A wonderful time was had :) thank you lots :)

We bought a fab cake from gallaghers cafe and it was lovely so in you find yourself in St. Peter avenue you most try the cakes .

Went for lunch, and had a lovely meal, food good quality, plenty of it, and staff were charming.... do not visit if you have a weakness for cake.... as selection of tempting high calorie cakes is mouth watering!

Had a lovely afternoon. Lovely place with extremely nice food. Staff were friendly and efficient too. Very busy but we were not rushed at all. If I were to pass any adverse comments it would be to recommend they served tea (I had Earl grey) in China cups and teapots instead of the cafe style metal pots and heavy style crockery. China would have been much nicer and would suit the style/decor of the place. Well done.

My Husband and I visited for the first time today and really enjoyed it. The staff were very kind and helpful and the food was great. My Husband had the 'All in toastie' and I had the Spanish Rarebit and we had a couple of the milkshakes. Everything was lovely and really filling, looking forward to coming back soon.

Visited as part of a birthday weekend away and I was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and the food was delicious. They were happy to do anything to keep their customers happy. The afternoon tea was just fantastic and I cannot believe the bargain price of £9.95 per person. As well as enjoying the delicious food, anything you can't manage can be taken away to enjoy later! My only complaint is that we couldn't buy the scones that were included in the afternoon tea to take away which was my favourite part! Hopefully they'll be able to make more to sell in the shop if we visit again in the future.

At £9.95 it is nothing short of a bargain! you get 3 small sandwich rolls with a large choice of fillings, which is followed by 5 sweet treats. These included (amazing) brown sugar scones. There was so much food for an afternoon tea that we couldn't finish it all and were pleased to know we could take our left over cakes home! All served on a small picnic bench, which was a lovely and different touch to the other afternoon teas available elsewhere. The staff were very pleasant, very attentive and our food was served quickly. I would advise booking for afternoon tea as it was very busy (understandably as the food was amazing!) very pleased with our visit and would not hesitate to return here on our next trip to Cleethorpes!

This stylish eatery was a wonderful find on a chilly day. The staff were really friendly and after telling the waitress I was allergic to dairy, she happily went off and came back with soya milk. The staff went out of their way to check ingredients and produce a really tasty meal. I cannot fault the food, premises or the enthusiastic hard working ladies who were beyond helpful.I Can highly recommend this cafe in every way.

Trip here in the early morning on a Sunday. Was looking at starting the day with something light but was taken by the stack of pancakes on the menu.Four chocolate chip pancakes with sliced banana and caramel sauce. Lovely.BUT very rich and filling. I love my food and only just managed to finish the plate.Would recommend.

I visited gallagher's twice at the weekend, on the Saturday and Sunday with my girlfriend. The first thing that hits you is the decor as you walk in through the door. A combination of two and four seated tables with wicker seats that are really comfortable to sit in plus various wall canvasses add interest and a uniqueness to the establishment. The staff are really friendly and helpful and always have a smile on their faces. We had lunch on the Saturday, I had an Italian style cheese on toast with tomato and pesto and my partner had a tuna, red onion and mozzarella toastie, that came with a side salad. Both dishes were excellent value for money, the only downside is that if they're busy you can have a little wait for your food but it does state this on the menu as all food is freshly prepared, (and it was definitely worth the wait). On the Sunday we had what appears to be their signature drink which is a hot chocolate with various toppings. These are almost a meal in themselves, both of our drinks were topped with cream, I went for marshmallows as well and my partner went for flake. They also have a large selection of cakes which looked amazing, I just couldn't make room for one!! Also if you're a regular visitor they do a loyalty card for tea and coffee. I will definitely be going back again.

Popped in to Gallagher's this afternoon for a coffee and dessert with my daughter. This is the second time we've visited, due to the excellent quality of the cakes. I had a slice of pear and caramel tart...or something, I was too busy enjoying it to remember what it was called! The staff in their are really happy and friendly, and I wasn't made to feel uncomfortable for not ordering a full meal as I have been in some other places. Well done.

Such a lovely coffee shop in the heart of Cleethorpes. We popped in with our family and dog today and really enjoyed how cosy and friendly it was. Great coffee and a full range of food options available. With it being dog friendly it is a bonus and this will now be our go-to place to stop for a drink on our dog walks!
