This is my habit. Have been coming here since they opened. Great staff, great coffee. It's just your friendly neighbourhood cake shop

Great pastries. Always busy and crowded. Having to queue up twice to order and collect is annoying. Staff are usually miserable and tables not wiped regularly. Few plug points - which is good in that it doesn't encourage laptop hogging - but to allow someone to stretch their lead across the pathway to seating area is ridiculous. Did no staff notice this or did they not feel able to say anything.

Thanks so much for the pastries the other weekend, they were amazing as always and it was a very smooth service from the staff at Gail’s. I am sorry I hadn’t managed to thank you properly yet, it has been super crazy, as you can probably relate to. Louise and her team are friendly and efficient. I came by to pick up an order of pastries on a busy Saturday morning, they were ready and waiting for me. Elise served me and she was unflappable, even with people queuing out the door for their weekend coffee and pastry. Thanks so much Gail's Victoria Park. Keep those cinnamon buns coming, they are definitely the best around. just the right ratio of sugar to cinnamon and they are soft and buttery in the middle. Perfect.

First time going to this branch and was treated very well. Thanks especially to worker Anka who dealt with us kindly after some confusion about birthday rewards!! Delicious hot chocolate and almond croissant

As an upstate New Yorker I am a discerning bagel consumer .. my home town makes the best bagels in New York state (no offence, NYC). No London "beigel" has yet met that standard .. however, Gail's salt beef bagel sandwich scored right up there! Thank you for the excellent decaf Americano too.

A busy place with limited brunch options. I’ve had warmer welcomes and it lacked any pointers on what their ‘process’ is. Therefore, my coffee got childish because I wasn’t aware I had to collect yet my food was brought to me! In hindsight a takeaway cake would have been the better approach

Rude staff on a number of occasions. Wont be going back again now. Poor service, very rushed. I just got home and they didnt put the cakes i bought into the bag but i was charged for them. The coffee last week was burnt and the lady was sharp when i asked about cream for a scone.

Let me just start by saying I never leave reviews however felt it necessary this time. I’ve been to GAIL’s many times and the food is always lovely. However the past three times I’ve been to the Victoria Park branch there has been one very rude member of staff. My friends have had the same experience. Such a shame as the other staff are brilliant. He’s genuinely unfriendly, passive aggressive and intimidating. Would make me think twice before visiting again sadly. Don’t need to be treated like that when I’m paying for a coffee thanks!

Lovely bakery near Victoria Park, great place to escape the rain. Friendly service and a heated outdoor area. Quirky and dependably good.

Local coffee providers took an instant dislike to the arrivals of Gail's. This no nonsense chain may not be as artisan as the rest but they have a great selection of pastries and the staff are ALWAYS friendly and helpful and the prices are comparable. You can be confident that when you sit in a chair, that it's not going to rip your trousers unlike some corner competition. Local vendors of the black stuff would do well to study the customer service model here. After all people will vote with there wallet. Well done gails

Whilst only just moved to the area I am trying to support local businesses, but will be giving this one the cold shoulder from now on. Just dropped in at 1pm on a Wednesday to get some lunch to go. Stood at the counter for 10 minutes whilst one member of staff served a couple in front of me, the other three stared, went back to their private conversation and then pretended to be busy arranging the sugar packets. When I was finally served, I got a sausage roll, wasn't offered to be heated, napkin cutlery or any of the basics you would assume. I think its a shop!!!! dependant on the exchange of goods for cash, customer service I assume is in the job description but in this regard probably not near the top. To be honest there are better places, go to the Pavillon in the park, grab a pizza at the Lauriston, or any other the other 5 cafes in the immediate area BUT let you feet do the talking as you walk by, it isn't worth the wait.

Good for either sitting in for a coffee and sandwich with a cake chaser or pick up some really good sourdough (many other types also available) to head home with. They are all over London so worth keeping and eye open for them.

Popped in for some coffee, really wanted to enjoy reading a book in their garden. Was looking for recommendations on something to go with my coffee however the two staff members were too busy having a discussion in what presumably was an Eastern European language. They did not seem particularly happy to be there and unhappy staff makes unhappy customers. Opted for a takeout since the other were not really invested in helping out and the atmosphere wasn't great.

Victoria Park just has to be one of London's gems and the coffee shops and breakfast nooks are the best! And GAIL's is one of those quaint 'nooks'! Small, somewhat crowded - a sign of quality - which the service indeed was. Lovely..

Waited for an hour to get a table, food was not good and very oily. Took ages, forgot part of our order. £25 main, £8.59 for a tiny glass of wine, no bathroom. After waiting for 1.5 hours for a table and another 1.5 for food we had to run to a bar nearby and buy a drink there so we could use the bathroom.

Good little grocery store with quality products. We went there several times during our stay in London. Special mentions for: Vegas Choc Macaroons, Black Forest Cake, Lemon Cake, The Pack of Yorkshire Tea, and the Sparkling Water (like “Peach & Mango” and “Lime & Ming”). The Gammon Ham & Farmhouse Cheddar Cheese sandwich is also excellent. Good time range. Price a little high, but that’s London!

I can't remember the last time I suggested visiting the C&H twice in a week but I did this week and both times were good. Under the new management there are no dramatic changes but those that there are, seem to have been carefully thought through, especially the short and delicious menu. The staff are knowledgeable and nice.
